I'm having a cocktail in the aforementioned Imperial Lounge. Chris, the friendly bartender, has made sure I'm comfortable. Sadly, the Imperial Lounge no longer serves Peruvian food, but the eclectic menu is very interesting. The vibe is very Belltown, but the Imperial Lounge is searching for its new identity. As for now, Chris is what makes the Imperial Longe stand out amongst the proliferation of bars on first Avenue. If Chris is working, his old school bartender vibe will make you feel welcome. It will be interesting to observe the Imperial Lounge as it busts forth with its new identity, with the new owner putting his stamp on this Belltown mainstay. read more

Food was just okay here. Nothing really stood out to us when we came here. Part of this may have been because I expected this to be more of a kitchen but instead, it was more of a bar/lounge. Comforting HK style food. The black pepper sauce was delicious with the tofu and vegetables. This is a perfect option for vegetarians. I am glad they're expanding their dietary options. We went on a Monday night. We wanted something new and in all of our years we have put off checking out Imperial. First we noticed that the space was much brighter inside than you would believe by walking by. We both love how well lit it is in there. We immediately could tell that the place was remarkably clean. Even down to the black and white floor. The Chairs weren't the most comfortable. We sat at a high top table which is the majority of what's available. Nearly all the chairs we checked felt a bit unstable. They could all use a good tightening. The music was just too loud to be inviting. It could have come down about 3 to 4 notches and it would have been just fine. The overall setting is just a bit wonky. I believe this place a few years back had a bar that was more themed to fit the French quarter in New Orleans. It feels like the space still has that vibe baked into it and not much was changed when it became imperial. The host and server both gave recommendations and I'm glad they did.... I like when a new (to me) place tells me what the best items on the menu. I did the sizzling rib eye steak with rice and a black pepper sauce. My partner wanted the crispy chicken burger but that was sold out (which seemed very strange for a Monday night) so he went with the regular burger which is not on the menu. We ordered the French toast as an appetizer. Sounded odd but it was delicious. A bit more savory than expected with just the right about of sweet. Perfectly cooked and great texture. For drinks my partner ordered a lychee martini and I had the house red. The martini was great. The bartender even did one of those smoke filled bubbles. It took 3-4 tries but he got it. The wine was fine. The wait for our food was really dragging and the server proactively offered us cocktails to make up for it. We aren't ones to turn down a free drink. Another lychee martini and a Tokyo old fashioned later the food finally came. The burger and fries... pretty standard. Tasty burger and well seasoned fries. Nothing exciting but well done overall. The steak (medium well - by recommendation by the server...not my first choice) was quite delicious. Tender... with a great sauce and perfectly cooked egg on top. I would certainly go back but I'm not in a rush. Price wise... about what you'd expect for this part of Seattle. $15 cocktails are just so hard to swallow. It's expected... but ouch. read more

This place has the best drinks ever!!! Inside you'll find a relaxed atmosphere. The drinks are made to perfection, they hand made every aspect of the drink so once you get a drink you'll be like "I've been having the wrong drinks all my life!" They have food as well but I did not get to try it because we already ate and were looking for a place to drink. The service is great, the bartender and waitress were so fun to talk to and just be with. Imperial kitchen was solid. We went here for a date night and while the food was solid, there were a couple annoying things. From what we had seen online we had an idea of what we wanted to order but when we ordered we were told they were out of multiple items and didn't serve some drinks anymore (something about it being a specialty of a bartender from a while ago but the bartender left and they didn't update the menu). We were also given 3 menus and told some things from each menu weren't available so it was a little confusing. Overall the food was good and it was a pretty interior, but wish they had updated menus and they weren't out of so much! The entrees were solid but we loved the appetizers, such as the peanuts, chicken, and edamame! The service was also a little slow (there were only like 4 people at the restaurant and felt like it was a while for them to give us menus and to then take our order), but would recommend giving them a try (hopefully they're not out of anything) and we will go back soon to hopefully try some of the things they were out of when we went the first time! read more

Came here on a weekend and was able to get seated right away. I ordered the Lomo Saltado, which is a Peruvian dish. It includes: strips of sirloin, rice, onions, tomatoes, and french fries. I enjoyed this dish a lot and it was super filling. I ended up saving part of it as leftovers. My husband ordered the birria tacos. We both thought the tacos were just okay and it came with rice & beans that were cold. Overall, I enjoyed my food and they also have other food options on their menu that sound good. Awesome little peruvian bar/lounge in the middle of belltown. Great food and service and was almost completely empty on a Monday night because of the 'snow' we were having. I can't imagine parking is normally easy around here, so definitely be prepared to look or take many of the public transportation options e.g. nearby light rail or lyft/uber. I really enjoyed the bone marrow, and most of their happy hour items were great as well. On the back of their menus they have a bunch of specials for each day of the week, including an all day happy hour on monday! The only complaint (which our waitress addressed) was that it was quite chilly! seemed like their heating may have been down or just not equipped to handle the snowy weather. He took the time to explain what it was which I appreciate.. For main course I ordered the Soft Shell Crab and that had a weird taste because of the truffle Mayo which over powers everything. The ambience is casual. The service on the other hand was mediocre. These 2 girl server was so busy on their phones which me and my friend thought was very unprofessional. If you must, do it discreetly but not openly and was on the phone every other minute. You can tell that they are not happy with what they do and it's just a paycheck. Perhaps make yourself busy by checking in with your customers and make yourself busy some other way. Our server even forgot one of our orders because she didn't write them down. Very average. Came in on a Friday night and according to Yelp, Imperial Lounge have been open for a while. While I read this was their launch night it was quiet. We arrive around 5ish and when we walked in it looked as though they were scrambling although there were only a few tables with customers. It took about 10 minutes for us to be waited on and the waiter/bartender didn't really know the menu. We liked our drinks, however we never received water....other tables did, so maybe that is something you need to ask for? We ordered two snacks off the happy hour menu and both came with fries...the food sat for a while (under lights). Was OK. I'm not sure if the bartenders/servers were just starting their shift and our table was overlooked? Maybe. We will revisit again in a few months. read more

So glad we got to try this place and their new menu. The menu has been revamped to be more of a Japanese fusion themed menu also with Asian inspired drinks. We had an assortment of food, including their spiced bar peanuts. Such an interesting mix of spice, and I thank you they should not be overlooked. We also had their takoyaki which had such a generous size of octopus inside. Their fried oysters were perfectly crispy. The star of the menu in my opinion was their burgers the softshell crab burger was so delicious. I usually always try softshell, crab dishes, and more often they're not. They are usually very oily and I can't enjoy the whole thing. But this was cooked and fried perfectly where it wasn't so oily. There was also a nice soft piece of egg omelette inside the burger along with truffle mayo, which accompanied and pulled everything together so well. We also had their salmon teriyaki burger. We were told That they even fillet their own salmon and house. But the salmon was cooked perfectly to my liking and a little pink so you don't have to worry about dry salmon here. The food was delicious! My partner and I got the Hawaiian burger lunch combo, soft-shell crab burger combo, and the Sichuan pepper chicken, all of which tasted great! Considering the amount of food we got at a sit down place, the prices were very reasonable (60$ for 2 burger combos with fries and drink, and half of a chicken). The service was attentive without being overbearing - they made sure we had everything we needed and checked in once with us. The only bummer was that we had arrived right at noon when they were supposed to be opened. There was no sign of anyone in the restaurant so we ended up wandering to a nearby coffee shop. The service has ruined my experience, every time I've visited. Most recently, We were the only ones here and literally waited 20+ minutes for our drinks while the bartender and servers socialized at the other end of the bar. The food came out wrong the first time and overall we waited for over an hour for our meal. This is completely absurd for having an empty restaurant. Our drinks were also not well made at all. This is not even close to the quality of drinks you'd expect from a swanky Belltown restaurant. On a positive note, the quesadilla was pretty good, and the environment is awesome. I stopped in for a quick drink the other day, and had the great pleasure of one of the best Old Fashioneds I've ever tasted, courtesy of the bartender, Derek. The bar is beautiful and looks like it hasn't been updated since prohibition... elegant, but a bit faded. There was hardly anyone there around 7 PM on a weeknight, which is just as well, if you're looking for a quiet drink. Maybe "quiet" isn't the right word... the music was pretty loud, and not really the sort of music I'd expect from a look this elegant. I didn't have any food while I was there, but I understand that it's Latin/Asian fusion, which means I probably won't ever get to try the food (soy allergy). I just wish the music either matched the prohibition era decor - or even the Latin or Asian themes.
