Authentic, tasty Malaysian cuisine in the heart of Belltown! Favorite dishes include the below: - Roti Jala (add chicken if preferred): Tasty appetizer - Tofu Nasi Lemak: We order this nearly every visit - Chicken wings: Incredible flavor, perfectly fried! - Mushroom Chili Pan Mee: Get the mushroom version, better than the pork version - Prawn Nasi Goreng: Fresh and delicious! - Pineapple basil chili salad: Sharp and refreshing Skip: - Laksa: Less authentic, wish it had deeper flavor - Roti Babi (stuffed with pork): Get the roti jala

Went for the Malaysian restaurant and tried a variety of dishes. We had the nasi manak with chicken curry. Everything was delicious, chicken, coconut rice and peanuts! Everything was delicious. The service was good and we got our order taken and food arrived pretty fast. The place is pretty and with a lot of seating, there was not a long wait. They do charge a 18% fees for dining.

We stayed in Belltown for a couple of days and walked past this place a few times before finally deciding to give it a go. Man... this place absolutely delivered lol. We ordered the Nasi Lemak with beef rendang, Laksa Lemak, and the Sayap Ayam Pedas (chicken wings). The nasi lemak was so good and I really liked all the side dishes it came with. The beef rendang was perfect. Super flavorful and tender. That dish was a straight up banger. The Laksa Lemak was also amazing. That deep rich coconut curry broth was crazy flavorful. Definitely one of those dishes where you keep saying "one more bite" and next thing you know the bowl is gone lol. The chicken wings also did not miss. I'm so used to sauced wings or dry rub wings, but these had this sesame topping that just exploded with flavor when you ate it with the chicken. Super unique and addicting. Also gotta shout out Bo and Nat. My fiancée told them it was my birthday and they hooked it up with some ice cream and sang me a song lol. They even took a picture of me with a happy birthday sign which was awesome and made the experience even more memorable. Overall we had an amazing experience at Kedai Makan. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was top tier. Definitely one of our favorite meals from this Seattle trip and we'll for sure pop back in whenever we visit Seattle again.

The food here's good but it's a little too expensive on top of the 18% service fee. The laksa didn't taste as authentic and flavorful as i expect from laksa. The roti was a tasty appetizer, as is nasi lemak with beef rendang! I wouldn't come here expecting the food to taste like authentic malaysian food though. Otherwise, our waiter was attentive and quick. The interior is also spacious and pretty :)

A little confused about some of the negative reviews. I am not super well versed in Malaysian food by any means but I have had it before and the food here tasted fine. While there was a literal flood in front of the restaurant the night we walked in (literally had to circumnavigate couple crosswalks and streets), the food to me was worth it. I got the curry laksa which was perfectly spiced and ample in serving size. Not too spicy though, until you mix in the balacan.. so you control your spice level. My bf got the nasi lemak and also enjoyed his meal. Food didn't take long to get to us at all. A ding because we asked to sit in one of the booths, and they said no they needed it for any four people party that walks in. They sat another two people table in one of the booths who came in after us.

We came on a Saturday night, and grabbed a primo spot on the outdoor patio! No wait. It was a beautiful high 60s kinda night- great day for a patio spot. We got the Nasi Lemak- sweet, coconutty curry and great combo of components Roti Babur- yummy little meat pocket, with a mound of pickles on the side Food came out pretty quick! I would say it's squarely $$, but do keep in mind that 18% gratuity will be included in your bill. With that in mind, it was kinda weird that the waiter was on the phone when they were with us, while also talking on the phone.

Came here on a Monday afternoon around 3pm... no customers around at this time but they were still happy to seat us wherever we wanted! Got the Nasi Biryani with chicken - I never tried this style of biryani, and it was really good! My friend and I split this portion, but if I was properly hungry I would 100% be able to finish my own plate. The service was fast and friendly, and the waitress was super nice. If you decide to dine in, you will automatically get charged 18% for service fee regardless of your party size. Something to keep in mind! Yummy spot - would recommend :^)

Was in Belltown for a couple of nights and saw this restaurant full of people - I knew I had to try it and am glad I did. I saw from several Yelp reviews that the Roti Jala was really good, so I ordered that with chickpea curry. The roti was soft and different from anything else I have tasted (in a good way). Shout out to all the Yelpers for the great advice. Since there were 2 of us, we also ordered the Nasi Biryani and Sayap Ayam Pedas Spicy fried chicken wings). I have to say - this was the best meal I had while in Belltown. No wonder many people go there to eat. If I ever get a chance to be in Belltown again, I will surely eat here again.

I absolutely love Kedai, I went to the other location first and loved it. Came today for Mother's Day and was surprised that we were the first people there. I love this new location lots more space than the other location. Staff was friendly and we even had a chat about my Labubu. Food was absolutely amazing. Seriously not a single thing was anything other than perfect. Juicy meat seasoned to perfection.

This place is pretty good overall! I don't have Malaysian food very often though. But the flavor of everything was pretty solid! I would lean more towards 4 and a half star. Food wise: We got the 3 items in the picture, everything was put well together. Many different flavors in the dish and a decent portion also. It was slightly on the saltier side? But that might just be me. But if you mix the coconut rice and everything together, the flavor is good. Drinks were fantastic in my opinion! I got the gin and tonic with lime leaf and it was sooooooo gas. My friend got the hibiscus drink and that was amazing too. I would go back solely for the drinks. Service: it was quick and the staff were nice. Nothing crazy special. The birthday ice cream is not free by the way, haha I thought it was complimentary. Ambiance: the vibe was very nice, pretty authentic I feel like. It was a cool place, temperature wise. I feel like it would be a nice spot in the summer.

The menu is different than the old Kedai Makan in Cap Hill, as I know they changed owners post pandemic. The prices here were quite high, there is little to no parking nearby, and the young woman working there the day I ordered food for pickup seemed aloof, indifferent if there were customers that day or not. I ordered the mushroom chili pan mee, as that is a hard to find me up item. It was good, but highly overpriced. Somewhere on the menu or online I read that locals get a discount but that wasn't an option when ordering online. Oh well.

Delicious Malaysian food! I had the Roti Babi which was a delicious blend of bread and spiced pork. Of course I got the Nasi Lemak since that is Malaysia's national dish. I had had this in Malaysia a few years ago and it did not disappoint.

I remember the days when you'd see them sitting at the corner table, hand-folding wontons right in front of you. They've gotten so busy now that they do it in the back, and if you don't time your visit right, be prepared to wait in a long line. This is my absolute go-to combo on a chilly day, and honestly, the best hangover cure: Wonton Noodle Soup, Cod Fish Congee, Chinese Broccoli, and Chinese Donuts (Youtiao). You cannot skip the donuts--they are a must! My personal ritual is adding a splash of pink vinegar and chili paste into the congee, dipping the donut in, and taking a huge bite. It's pure comfort that warms you up from the inside out and instantly heals a tired soul. My husband prefers the beef wonton noodle soup because it's rich and hearty, but I love the classic, clean flavor of the plain wonton soup with its seafood-based broth. A quick heads-up: The service is typical for an authentic, bustling Chinese restaurant--don't expect fancy fine-dining treatment, but the staff is genuinely friendly and efficient. Also, **it's CASH ONLY**, so come prepared! Among the handful of restaurants I've stayed loyal to for 20+ years, this spot holds a very special place in my heart. Highly recommended!

My girlfriend and I stopped in before a flight, which in hindsight was a mistake. We ordered around 12:30 PM (niku beef udon, garlic pork udon, and chicken karaage), and it took nearly an hour to receive everything. The karaage came out first after about 40 minutes, then one udon about 10 minutes later, and the final dish close to an hour after ordering. Because of this, we weren't able to eat together unless one of us let our food go cold. On top of that, the restaurant itself was uncomfortably cold, which made the long wait feel even worse. It also seemed like many other tables were experiencing similar issues--orders coming out at different times or missing entirely, with customers having to repeatedly follow up. What stood out most was the lack of communication. There was no acknowledgment of the delays, no check-ins, and no apology--not when the food was dropped off, and not even when we left. Given that we had to pay upfront and the price point was $20+ per bowl, it made the experience feel even more disappointing. While the portions were decent and the noodles seemed handmade, the food itself didn't feel particularly special to justify the wait or cost. I truly hope this feedback is helpful. With better timing, communication, and overall service, I think the experience could be much better.

This place is a true gem, serving satisfying, delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere at an affordable price. The restaurant looks small from the front, but space is used efficiently and they manage to fit quite a bit of seating into not that large of a dining room. Tables are mostly four tops, quite spacious at that, and surrounded by sturdy wooden chairs. I came for dinner on a Friday evening and there were a few other tables at any given time. Service was quick and our water never ran empty. We had the wontons in hot oil, topped with peanuts, I had the beef chow fun, and my dinner buddy had the pork with hot sauce noodles. The wontons are very very good, stuffed with flavorful pork and swimming in a sauce that sits in that perfect spot at the intersection of hot and sour. The peanuts and scallions add a delightful crunch. Their beef chow fun satisfies every bit of childhood nostalgia I have for this dish, with lots of wok hei, bouncy noodles, and the most tender of beef. I think my favorite beef chow fun in the city still lives at A+ Hong Kong Kitchen, but this is a close second. The portion here is also huge. I am a human vacuum and I actually brought leftovers home, which is rare for me. The pork with hot sauce noodles is seemingly a fusion of zha jiang mian and dan dan noodles.
