Meh. I got the charazard roll, which is a pretty pricy roll for what it is, but it sounded super good! I love sushi, raw, deep fried, etc, something about the hamachi on top was just TOOOO FISHY. I was craving for some good otoro since I experienced it in Japan and saw some recommendations for this place. The price for otoro sashimi is more or less similar to other places but their alaska roll was super expensive at $9. 5 piece shrimp tempura was $12. Otoro looked fantastic but it lacked the melt in your mouth feel I got from the otoro I had in Japan. The Alaska roll was decent - fish was fresh but overall the roll was on the smaller side. The prawn tempura was soggy when I got home. They did not cut holes in the paper box so it steamed in there. For these prices I expected more thought into that. read more

Located on the corner of two busy thoroughfares, the restaurant was rather quiet on the night I was there (although it was fairly early in the evening). Two members of my group were regulars at Star Sushi and guided us on what to ordered. We went to Star Sushi & Bar for my birthday last weekend and we were very impressed! We made a 2 person reservation for 6:30 and they were able to squeeze us in ~20 min early even though it was a pretty full house. We got the Asian pear cider and raspberry marg, which came in cutely decorated glasses (very tasty, pictured). Food: we ordered the chicken katsu, mariners roll, fried California roll, avocado rolls, tamago, inari, agedashi tofu, and two miso soups. Portions were reasonable and prices were fair! Everything was really good, especially the agedashi tofu--it had a unique chewy wrapping and I highly recommend the bonito flakes on top (no picture :( we ate it too fast). The mariners roll was also a hit and my boyfriend, a serial katsu eater, said his chicken was "crispy and perfect." Service: We never brought up that we were celebrating my birthday, and the manager still came out and brought us a free plate of avocado rolls because they made extra. Our waitress Sarah was also very attentive and polite! We thought everyone we encountered did a fantastic job. Overall, this is the type of place you can arrive in jeans or a nice dress. What a wonderful way to kick off 2026. We found this "Star" of the sushi scene while looking for a sushi spot near the Paramount Theater, it was only a very short Uber ride away. It looked so cute as we drove up and even more festive inside. Fun cocktail menu for young, old and sober. (Non alcoholic) Our waiter was awesome! Patient, informative and present. We were near the door but never cold and noticed they had a nice bar area, too. Even better, we were able to keep an eye on the Seahawk game, as well. I saved the best for last, the food was AMAZING! So fresh, so melt in your mouth delicious, everything we look for in our sushi. We began with the Hamachi Carpaccio. Do not skip this! Delicious, not too spicy and that sauce is to die for. Next we had the Sashimi Belly Flight with Bluefin Tuna, Salmon and Hamachi. This alone was enough for a Happy New Year and proved to us we had found a new all time favorite sushi spot in Seattle. We had the waiter recommended Charizard Roll and he did not lead us astray. Very dramatic, it came flaming and this heated the roll. Once flames died out our waiter came over and opened it up, but more importantly than all of that it was yummy and the three of us fought over the last couple of pieces. My only notes are that our two bake rolls (Lion King and Scallop) were good, but they had a flavor that was odd, not bad just odd. Instead of using mayonnaise as we are accustomed to, they use a white cheese sauce. We so look forward to returning and thank Star Sushi and Bar for being five stars in our book! read more

The menu had a lot of good choices and vegetarian options...it was hard not to order too much! We ended up deciding on the calamari to share and two of the specialty sushi tuna rolls - the SSS (avocado, cucumber, and tempura asparagus with spicy tuna, sesame-seared tuna, spicy mayo, and spicy ponzu dip) and the Toro Lover (chopped bluefin tuna, cucumber, avocado topped with bluefin tuna, unagi sauce and micro greens). The calamari was nice and crispy and the gochujang spicy sweet aioli dipping sauce was an excellent accompaniment. Both rolls had great flavor and were plenty filling. The SSS even had some extra tempura asparagus which was a nice touch. Service was a little slow but the sushi and calamari were so good that I would definitely come back. Decided to try this restaurant for happy hour on a whim and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Wakame Salad, Takoyaki, Alaska Roll, and the Spicy Tuna Roll. Beverage wise, I ordered the Lychee Martini and Star Cocktail. My favorites were the Wakame Salad, which was extremely fresh and brimming with flavor, and the classic Alaska roll. The Lychee Martini was cute, playful, and tasty. I sat at a counter seat and received top-notch service with all of my dishes coming out quite quickly. I also had a wonderful conversation with the Itamae, who I can tell really enjoys his work which added a bit of additional delight to the experience. I will definitely visit again to try their full menu. I'm especially looking forward to the oysters which they were out of due to the Memorial holiday logistical issues with ordering. The calamari fries lacked seasoning in the panko batter, good concept. We made reservations at 6:30pm for 2 adults and 3 children on a Saturday. We caught a Lyft here from Pike Place Market. The service was great and the food was delicious. We had 2 California rolls, 4 specialty rolls, 3 hand rolls, edamame, sake and a beer. We were pleased with all of selections, the food quality and presentation. At the end, they also brought us small side salads with ginger dressing and mochi. Thoroughly impressed. I went up to the sushi bar to give the chefs a cash tip (as is customary in sushi bars when you are pleased), and they didn't have a tip jar up, however they found a makeshift one pretty quickly. Sat at the bar and watched them prep for a bit before ordering. It's one of those spots where nothing looks rushed or overly "showy"--they're just focused on doing things right. Started with salmon and hamachi lower roll and that alone sold me. The fish was soft and clean-tasting, not ice-cold, and the rice was actually seasoned and slightly warm (which way too many places mess up). Tried one of their house rolls expecting the usual overloaded situation, but it was surprisingly balanced. Not drowning in sauce, not falling apart, and you could actually taste the fish instead of just mayo and sugar. Small detail but I noticed the ginger tasted fresh, not that overly sweet, sitting-in-a-jar-for-weeks kind. Service was super chill. Not overly talkative, but they were paying attention--water refilled without asking, plates cleared at the right time, food spaced out instead of dumped all at once. The lychee martini was really good and sweet. I thought the chicken karrage was only just mid tho, not very crispy and also the meat wasn't very tender. I thought the hamachi roll was only ok, didn't taste too fresh and I wanted more of a crunch with the jalapeno and I didn't really taste it. The salmon was really good though. My go to order is the sesame chicken - super flavorful, breaded with a tempura-like crust and coated in a thick sweet sesame sauce.
