This place use to be good. I ordered a spicy salmon roll and it was mostly filler. It was a mushy mix of soggy breadcrumbs and mayo with tasteless tiny pieces of fish. Sometimes spicy rolls are like this, but I expected more of the yellowtail scallion roll. It was mushy and had small pieces of completely tasteless fish. Ohayo is my go-to for takeout sushi, but I finally had the opportunity to sit down and enjoy a meal. The restaurant is small, intimate, and welcoming. We were sat right away, and likely because it's on the outskirts of Babylon Village, it wasn't busy for a Saturday evening. The staff were friendly and we received our food pretty quickly. Their sushi is always fresh and I have yet to be disappointed. We ordered three rolls (tuna avocado, spicy salmon, yellowtail jalapeño), a speciality roll (out of control roll) and sashimi and sushi for one. Coming from an Asian who lived in Queens, who moved here about a year ago, this spot is fire ! The Ohayo sushi was $30 on GH but was portioned well, rice was seasoned lovely and temperature-wise, was appropriate. Chicken Yakisoba was your classic stir fried semi thin noodles with vegetables and chicken. Protein was a little lacking but flavor was good, not too overpowering. Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) was accompanied with semi sticky white rice and classic tonkatsu sauce. Katsu was sliced a little too thin and both sushi and Katsu platter had no Midso soup which would've made this 6 out of 5 but oh well. Still glad to finally try this place via Grubhub after moving here for about a year now. I'd absolutely order here again but will ask for miso soup but this is a must, guys! read more

Outstanding party tray options, everyone loved it. While visiting family in this area, it's 100% necessary to grab a tray full of sushi at least one time. After shopping around looking at my different options, Ohayo had one of the best deals. I went with their 64pc (8 rolls) party tray for $49. You choose 8 rolls from their basic sushi roll menu and they will quickly put it all together on a party tray for you. My entire tray was ready in just 20 minutes! I went with the Salmon Avocado, Tuna Avocado, Shrimp Avocado, Spicy Salmon, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Crabmeat, Salmon Tempura, and Shrimp Tempura rolls. All of them had great quality, flavor, texture and freshness. Nothing seemed off, no notable flaws of any sort. I am impressed with how quick they came up with my order with such quality. Upon walking in, I was greeted immediately and everyone seemed attentive and friendly! The fish was fresh and every roll had it's own flavor. Sometimes when I order more than one spicy roll I feel like all of them are just the same thing. Their mixture here does a great job distinguishing their different rolls and ordering 8 rolls was a great way to experience this. It also had the perfect texture and amount of chew to it. We tried it for the first time yesterday, and first impression is that they are very clean and organized. The had cute Christmas decorations up. A lady immediately sat us at one of the booths. We got hot green tea and ordered the spicy combo, and tuna & cucumber roll, yellowtail & cucumber roll, suf clam sushi & fluke sushi. They were out of fluke so I got the super white tuna sushi instead. Everything was amazing, the fish was flavorful and melt in your mouth and they were generous with the amount of fish they give you and spread a very thin layer of rice on the sushi which I liked. Hands down, this is the best sushi in Tyler. The place is clean, the staff is amazing, and seriously, you can order plate after plate of sashimi, sushi, and hibachi for $32. Oh, and they have a full stock bar with some incredible drinks. I got a smokey old fashioned and it comes out under a glass dome for one person, or in a glass lidded box for two and it isn't just a gimmick. It's pretty dang amazing. I'm sorry. Another successful Yelp recommendation! We were in the area (this is close to Good Samaritan Hospital) on a recent Friday night and wanted sushi (my husband actually always wants sushi. I want it 30% of the time I'm searching for a restaurant). Ohayo popped up with its almost 5 star rating. It was busy on a Friday, but we only waited about 10 minutes for a table. They hustle! The take out orders are not for the faint of heart. I swear the phone didn't stop ringing so it was impressive. There are not a lot of vegan options here so it wouldn't be my first choice or a destination restaurant, but they offer avocado/cucumber and avocado/peanut rolls. I've had a crazy sushi craving for the past few days, so a sushi post was a long time coming. I needed a break from writing a paper, looked up some sushi places that had a lunch special, saw how highly this one was rated, and hit the road. Ohayo offered a lunch special that included 3 sushi rolls, a soup and a salad for 12.95. I've seen the same offer for 9.95 at other sushi joints so I was a bit upset, but the craving had to be satisfied. (I also didn't know this at the time, but Ohayo offers more pieces of sushi per roll than my other sushi place, so the higher price is absolutely justified.) After looking at the menu, I saw the magical words CHICKEN TERIYAKI and decided I could hold off on the sushi craving. My handsome honey decided he was going to get sushi to satisfy my craving (and therefore have me stop whining about wanting sushi) and steal some of my chicken teriyaki. I asked for the house chicken fried rice instead of regular white rice and was very happy with my selection. I got a plate of chicken over onions, broccoli and carrots. The teriyaki sauce was warm and sweet and delicious. The fried rice was delicious, and my boyfriend declared it "better than Beni's" (Benihana!). Other sushi places give 6 pieces per roll. Ohayo gives eight, so he got 24 pieces of sushi in total. He ordered spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and salmon & avocado. Sushi isn't worth eating if it's not fresh, and that wasn't a issue here. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Would I come back here again? Absolutely. And even better, they offer delivery to my home in North Babylon, so it looks like I'll be happy to Ohayo next time I want lunch. read more

Glad we did...Nothing changed...Joe the Sushi Chef took great care of us and we ate until we couldnt eat anymore. Take out Date: May 9, 2020 I got take out from here. I wasn't overly impressed. My dinner had to be gluten free so I got the chicken and salmon terikayaki. They put no sauce on it and the meat was good but not seasoned well enough. The portion was big enough to have two meals out of it. Bf and I came in here for lunch today and even though it was Sunday (which isn't our favorite day for sushi) the quality of the fish was pretty good. It was pretty basic but fresh nonetheless. Ohayo rivals any place on LI for sushi but compared to LA and Manhattan sushi, it's pushing a 3.5 star review. I'm not saying I would rush back here but I would stop by if I'm in the neighborhood again. The restaurant is pretty and the bathroom is very clean so that's adds to the rating. I ordered the Cali Dream, Spicy Crab, and Spicy Shrimp Asparagus roll(s) and the House Fried Rice. I enjoyed the spicy crab a lot! The spicy shrimp was good until it wasn't and the Cali dream was good but had too much avocado for my liking. I'd get sushi, if I'm in the area, from here again. Now the rice... something felt off. It's supposed to be shrimp, chicken, and veggies in the rice and there is plenty shrimp and chicken but the veggies were weird. They are very small chopped up, little dots of vegetables, and gave off an extreme onion taste which is great if you aren't me because I don't like onions. Would not order again or recommend. For those that typically go to Kotobuki or any of the other sushi restaurants in Babylon, they should be giving Ohayo some much deserved attention. I usually go for their lunch special if I'm ever in Babylon during the week, but had an amazing dinner tonight. Tina waited on us and was incredibly attentive and friendly. During my short stay in LI, I visited this little spot 3 times... LOVED IT. Fresh fresh fresh fish quality, amazing prices (lunch is a steal, dinner is super affordable), fast service. Parking: tiny lot in the back, shared with many other shops/restaurants so space is very limited. I always find parking on the street though!!! Ambience: cute, modern, clean! Service is fast. Water also filled promptly. Food comes up super fast as well. No complaints. Food: -I'll start with a disclaimer. I think Ohayo is Chinese owned, not Japanese owned (for those who are super picky, this might not be super duper traditional Japanese food) But I still feel that the fish tasted super fresh and legit!!! - sashimi plate hands down my favorite, SO MUCH FISH, the white tuna and salmon melts in your mouth. (drooling while writing this review), and for $18??? CANT BEAT THAT! - sweet shrimp was amazing but pretty expensive - seaweed salad is standard, massive portion! Stopping in for an early dinner with a fellow Yelper-in-crime - the place was empty except for a couple of dudes enjoying an early meal. Once they left we had the place to ourselves the rest of the evening for a leisurely meal. We decide to over order on some sushi and sashimi items to share. After enjoying some edamame with the sake we ordered first up is the Tuna Tataki app - nice little slabs of tuna with peppery crust swimming in a slightly sweet ponzu sauce made for a nice start. Next is the sushi sandwich, which I found pretty sizeable for the price - the texture is very mushy since it is comprised of Spicy tuna, spicy salmon, eel, avocado inside, tobiko outside with soy bean paper, but it has good flavor. I was looking forward to the rolls and sashimi we ordered, and although the riceless naruto roll was quite generous with the various fish I thought the cucumber wrapper too thick - certainly not an easy one bite roll. Since I read so many good things I was truly looking forward to the sashimi pieces of belly yellowtail, belly salmon and my eel nigiri. The texture of these belly cuts were stiff, and surprisingly not a rich, buttery flavor I was expecting. As for the Eel nigiri I haven't had a piece this poor in a while - rubbery like I couldn't believe. By the time the meal was over it felt a bit awkward to be the only ones in the place and the weather was warm so we decided to take a walk through the village and enjoy the best part of the night - the friendly company. read more

Stumbled upon this place one day since swell taco was closed for renovation. Nice lil atmosphere, server was cool and helpful, food came out in a decent time. For starters we got the edamame & crab ravioli (which I have no earthly idea why it's called ravioli when there ain't a damn thing ravioli about it). The crab app was good but wayyy to small and not enough inside the wontons. The sushi we got was the scallop, spicy crab, sweet potato tempura & ocean grill rolls. There was 8 per order so 32 total and I left off wanting more.. I loved them all and I couldn't choose which one I liked best. If i could give Ohayo and it's staff a 6 star review, I would. My girlfriend and I are avid sushi lovers and we get sushi more than once a week. Out of the hundreds of places I've been, this is by far the best out there. So good, it's become our regular spot, and all we go to now. The Tuna is always rich and dark, highest quality i've ever seen. The sushi rice is perfect texture and tasty (never dry). Their chicken dishes, bento boxes, rolls etc are always done perfectly, even for takeout! They also deliver which is nice too. On top of that, the staff is always so friendly and amazing. The manager, Jenni, is always so helpful and knows us by name. She knows our order and always makes sure to take care of us, sometimes throwing something in on the house.
