I don't even know where to start but let me give this a shot. I had a sudden change in plans and was going to attend a wedding with the boyfriend. Previously, I was supposed to be out of town so this was a dire last minute need. I needed to get an up-do and called around a few places in the neighborhood. Either everyone was booked or didn't have anyone in the salon that specialized in up-dos for special occasions. I landed on Impressions Hair Design and when the nice lady answered the phone -- she passed my inquiry to Michelle who offered her cell number so I could text her when I was looking for. After a few exchanges in texts, she confirmed she could achieve the hairstyle I was looking for and would take me that Saturday just hours before the wedding started. I arrived right at my appointment time and she sat me down a few minutes later, and got straight to work. She didn't rush and made sure to pin (and re-pin) every section of my up-do until I was satisfied and pain free. Bobby pins can hurt if they're not situated appropriately! I don't know how to contour and she showed me step-by-step on how to contour my face -- truly the extra mile that helped me make all the difference in the world with my final makeup look. It's clear that she knows how to do makeup really well so hit her up if you're also looking for a MUA. Not only was she very personable, but she was so fun to chit chat with throughout my entire experience. This salon is family owned and operated which is perfect for everyone looking to support a local small business. They have been around for years and have their loyal clients -- now, I can see why. Tina and her daughter Michelle are amazing here, I usually just have my son's haircut but this day I just said, "what the heck I'll do mine as well". told Tina and Michele my vision I had or thought I had or thought I had and they advised me that what I wanted wouldn't look good with my complexion and I loved the honesty. On my search for another great local salon, I found impressions hair design! A much needed haircut led me here and I was very satisfied with my experience. I called in and asked if they had time for same day appointment which they did. When I arrived, Tina greeted me and followed up with proper COVID-19 protocols. She asked what I wanted and was very thorough with how much I wanted to cut off. She never cut off more than I asked and made sure I was okay with the layering and such. Totally satisfied with her and she is someone you can trust. First timer tip- let her know EXACTLY what you want. Don't be afraid to intervene in the process, because she is such a sweetheart and will listen to what you want. What she envision as a stylist MIGHT not be what you pictured. So, I suggest doing some research in what best works out for you (showing her pictures). Ask questions to ensure the best results. The first time I went here I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she did it exactly like how it was in the picture NO ERROR just exactly what I wanted. If there's one thing that will keep me coming back it's someones ability to listen to what I want and not do something they want. I've encountered that countless times but with Tina it's always exactly what I ask her to do. I also brought in another picture from a magazine and she did it exactly like that! I read a lot of reviews before I came here. So many great reviews so I expected great results. Well unfortunately my hair came out so ugly not what I wanted at all. Tina was a sweetheart but she gave me really ugly layers and now I basically have to chop my hair off to the first layer because it looks like my bangs and first layer are all one but uneven I don't know how to explain it. She thinned out my hair so much without asking me. I loved my thick hair and now it's so thin and ugly. Never again will I go back there. read more

Hmmmm, honestly I went here for the first time last year and absolutely loved my haircut/dye. Tina really cares about everything being completely even, so you don't have to worry about having a crooked haircut. Today I went in and asked for about 4.5 inches and i don't know if there was a misunderstanding, but she thinned out my hair a lot to the point where it looks really bad. I didn't ask my hair to be thinned out :( I'm really sad about my haircut, also another thing to note is when I went to pay the price bumped up 10$. I wouldn't have came here if it wasn't the original 25$. Paying 35$ for a haircut with no wash seems pretty excessive. Quick and to the point. I got a decent hair cut the way I asked for it. Tina understood what cut I wanted and delivered - layered in the front and angled bang. Affordable price. The salon is actually nicer than what you may expect from the outside. They accept credit card. I also got upsold and got my eyebrows and upper lip done too. The wax reminded me of a pen, interesting, but not sure how they would sanitize it. I like the shape of my brows. I almost bought a sectioning comb there too. It's close by the neighborhood. She's very good at what she does and always has me walking out of there with the nicest eyebrows. I was going to put off my haircut until I go back to LA, but my hair decided to become this tangled mess a few weeks into vacation. So I yelped for a cheap hair salon to trim off my dead, split ends and found Impressions. I walked in around 1pm and the salon was empty. I requested for Tina as she was coming out from the back. She was very friendly and immediately sat me down. As I told her I only wanted to get a trim, she made sure she took off only about an inch and a half or so. When she was about to cut my bangs, she also doubled checked with me on how much I want cut off (I'm trying to grow them out). The whole hair cut took no more than 20 mins. Overall, it was a pretty pleasant experience and decent haircut for $20. When I told Tina that I found Impressions on Yelp, she was very flattered and kept on saying thank yous. :) I took off one star for the cleanliness. I know that I shouldn't expect much, but there were hair scattered all over each station. The scissors and combs she used seemed clean...but judging from the floor, I'm not sure just how clean they really are. read more

I was in and out for a hair cut in 30 mins. The lady sat me down and instantly was trying to sell me hair oil that was "on sale". So out of curiosity I asked how much it was. When I went to pay she handed me the oil to purchase when I didn't even want it...lol I paid $35 for a hair cut and a blow out, $25 for the hair cut and $10 for blow out... or thats what I was told. Funny thing, they didn't even wash my hair (which I think is common now days...) and my hair wasn't even wet when they blow dried it. I guess waving around the hair dryer in your hair for a minute will cost you $10 bucks. They did straighten my hair with a flat iron...I guess that was included in the $10. My aunt use to cut my hair and she was the only one that could do long layers, though she retired and got sick and have tried other places and I have had so many disappointments. I had one place do a mushroom cut on me or as some would call it, a joe dirt mullet cut. I just gave up and decided to grow my hair one length and have no one touch my long locks unless it needs a one inch trim because NO ONE can cut long layers until one day, one of my clients come in with the perfect cut and she had my hair length. I asked her where and she pointed me to Impressions, what's great, is it's near my house. I went to Tina to cut my hair in long layers (very nervous) and OMG, it was like a hair orgasm! I found my hair stylist! I had recommended her to a couple of my clients and friends and they have been happy campers =D If you want a great cut that is consistent, come here and ask for Tina, she is the manager. So to begin with I called around 5:00 PM as I got off work to make an appointment. Spoke to Tina it was very late but still she was able to manage the time & highlight my hair. I got there around 6:10 pm. Let me tell you guys something (I am in love with this place) I got my hair highlighted just the way I want it. I initially really enjoyed my experiences with Tina at this salon. But I have to say that the service has gone downhill since then. I agree with the previous review that her prices have gone up and they seem to be inconsistent. I paid $20 one time and then I paid $25 another time. Also, the last haircut that I received from her was the absolute worst. I told her I wanted long layers, I showed her photos, and she seemed to understand the idea. After the haircut, I realized that the layers were way too short, they were essentially eye-level and completely uneven. At the time, I didn't notice the unevenness as much and I don't live in the area so I didn't have time to come back. I call her about a month later to see if she could fix and trim the uneven edges but she demanded that I get a new haircut altogether because it has been longer than a week. I definitely think that my initial experiences with Tina and this salon have been very enjoyable, she is very friendly. But I have to say that for such a small salon who may rely on the loyalty and consistency of its customers, great customer service was definitely lacking in my experience. read more
