We came here for the 7:30 show on a Friday and it was great. We didn't really have expectations, but had we, they would've been exceeded. We were definitely apprehensive when there weren't any people there fifteen minutes before the show. By the time we started there were about 15 in the audience and the comedians didn't hold back and performed like there was a full house. They were quite hilarious and we enjoyed ourselves even with the PG-13 show. We will come back for the uncensored adult show soon. Thanks for a fun and memorable evening! read more

Improv City is awesome. Cheap, $10 entertainment on a Friday or Saturday night. Small, intimate room with around 3 rows of seating, so you can really get to interact with the performers. It's helpful to come up with suggestions before you go that you'd like to see performed (like outrageous things or weird animals). Then you really get to make it the show you want to see. I liked it, much more interactive than going to the movies. I was laughing really hard and did now know what was going to happen. The performers work hard and the show is clean. They really stress keeping it clean. One of the performers almost said "Sh**" and his team was subtracted five points and had to sing a opera style apology song till we for gave him. My wife and I went here last week for the first time after finding them on google. I was a bit hesitant at first. Probably because it's only $10 per person and it's kid friendly. Well let me tell you. It's totally worth $10 bucks and my wife and I laughed our ass off. Were big fans of Who's line is it anyway and well this is right up that alley. Got ourselves some hard liquor from the bowling alley downstairs and enjoyed the show. Small room and it fills up quick. You won't be dissapointed. Give it a try! read more

Came here for the second time after 4 years. Hilarious! The first time i went to the 7:30 showing which was more pg friendly and had more improvers with two teams battling each other. This year, I went to the 9:30 showing with more adult humor and a small group either working together or battling each other. I took my boyfriend and he couldn't stop laughing and was having such a great time! We both thought Devin was VERY talented and hilarious. Probably going to bring my family next time! read more

This was my very first improv experience and I will return to this place time and time again. The group was absolutely hilarious, great interaction with the crowd, and extremely inexpensive for this type of fun. Great for all age groups. Oh my God! I haven't had this much fun in a very long time! I laughed my ass off! These guys and girls are hilarious and man can they come up with anything right off the top of their head. No challenge is too challenging for them. The comedy is also pretty clean since the age is 13+ to see their show. The room is a small intimate setting on the second floor of the bowling alley by Boomers, but they are trying to raise money to get their own place. They deserve it for sure. They also can be hired for corporate events, office parties, birthdays, reunions, anniversaries, graduations, retreats, etc., and they also work with local schools to develop improv and other arts that incorporate improv into after school curriculum's. You can't go wrong with ImprovCity. These guys and gals are helping keep the world a better happier place with their comedy. I'm definitely going back for sure and will be recommending it to my family and friends. read more

We really enjoyed the Survivor Improv show tonight. $10 is a steal of a deal for a great evening out. The comedians range from laugh so hard it hurts to doing their best, but overall a very entertaining show. I appreciate their clean comedy style, too. I was skeptical despite the good yelp reviews I read before hand. I took the boyfriend on a surprise date and was kind of scared it wouldn't amuse him. When we went into the room, it was small and almost empty at 7:25 ish (show started at 7:30), so it was definitely not the best first impression. People started to fill in though and the room was pretty much filled. The show started and it was ok, but then it began to roll and had its extremely funny moments. We were laughing constantly! The boyfriend's favorite player was #24. I thought they all had their own unique style of approaching each improv game they played which was pretty cool. They gave us a punch card and we would get a free show after coming to 5 shows. Not sure if we'll come back right away but thinking of bringing some friends next time! Definitely worth a try. My boyfriend took me to the Saturday night show as an impromptu date and we had an amazing time. The show awesome and hilarious! We enjoyed each member of the Improv team and loved the audience participation. The show we attended was packed and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We grabbed refreshments from downstairs at the bowling alley which was nice, but they have water in the room where the show is held. I look forward to returning soon! read more

This is OC's best kept secret! If you love "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" then you'll definitely love this since it follows a similar format. $10 / ticket gets you in for good 'ol clean fun! There were times that I was laughing so hard that I had coughing fits! And they also take suggestions from the audience. Definitely great for a night out, first dates, and / or corporate events. WOW! What an awesome show! 3 of my friends and I went to the Friday July 3rd show and had an incredible time. We go to a couple comedy shows each year and I can honestly say this show was by far the funniest we've ever seen. During the skits we laughed constantly. These guys are REALLY GOOD! We loved how they asked the audience for all the material that they used during the skits. This made the skits even funnier. Don't miss this show! It's been less than 3 weeks and we're already planning on going back again this Friday. :) Bottom line: Great show! Great comedians! Oh and I forgot to mention the insanely low price! Great fun on a Friday night. Wasn't sure what the quality would be like when we finally got to the second floor. If you're like us, don't get freaked out by the intimacy of the venue. The comedians are top quality and got us laughing within moments and had us going for the full show. Also, even though it's an intimate venue, nobody made us feel awkward. I have attended their family-friendly performances multiple times with family and friends, including kids as young as 12. We always leave laughing, happy and having thoroughly enjoyed the shows. They are a talented group of performers, and at $10 a ticket, it's totally worth it for a night out. We bowl downstairs at the Irvine Bowl, then grab a pizza from their cafe (the cheese pizza is decent), before heading upstairs for this show. It makes for a great family-friendly activity. We were looking for something different to do with friends and stumbled onto Improv City and had a great time. The location is inside a bowling alley which was surprising. The space is small and you are up close to the stage. It is a cast of improvisation actors who play various games with audience participation. Overall the cast was entertaining and would recommend checking it out. It is inexpensive and while they don't have food or drink service you can grab a cocktail from the bowling alley. read more

I discovered Improv City trying to find something fun to do on a Saturday night with friends of ours and what a blast we had! Totally unsuspecting with no preconceived ideas of what we were in for. We laughed for an hour-and-a-half and everything was impromptu. GREAT team of entertainers that volunteer their time to keep us smiling. Love their spontaneity and energy. I feel like I've been betrayed by my fellow Yelpers. I decided to take my boyfriend on a date and turned to Yelp for help (bada bing...you see? I'm already funnier than these guys). We went to a restaurant that had the same amount of stars and were amazed. Then it was time for the show. We had such a hard time finding it because the website and tickets/confirmation neglected to say that it was inside of the bowling alley. So there we were driving in circles looking for a sign. When we came up the stairs the girl checking people in (and by people I mean us 2) was very awkward and looked and acted like she was 12. She tried to hide the sign in sheet which clearly showed that my name was the only one on the list. We walked in to see....no one. Almost. I think we were 2 out of 6? But I'm pretty sure we were the only legitimate guests and the rest were family/ friends. I tried to give it a shot, I really did. God knows my boyfriend did and was such a good sport about it, trying to participate. I found myself constantly zoning out forgetting to keep my fake smile pasted on my face. They weren't funny. They're not similar to Who's Line Is It Anyway, and it's not PG-13. It seemed like we were in someone's living room with a comedy club that was together in college and couldn't let go of their dreams. I'm glad they made each other laugh so hard - though I'm sure this was to avoid awkward silences from no one laughing. Still annoying when they're obnoxiously laughing after every line. They do random games involving improv but they'd be better off planning this stuff out ahead of time because let me tell you...none of them is cut out for improv, or even comedy for that matter. Now if you've seen Who's Line Is It Anyway, It's funny. It's also done by professional actors who are actually funny. So although their concept here was nice, it was not executed well by any means. As for the "PG-13" aspect, it's really more like PG or G rated. I'm sorry guys but there's a reason movies do better when they're PG-13 vs PG. Slight sexual undertones ARE OK. The reason PG-13 is funny is because of slight innappropriateness. Instead they played it safe and went with the G rated stuff which didn't keep my attention and had to keep from yawning and nodding off the entire time....that we were there. I felt so incredibly guilty leaving when you could hardly say that they had an audience but I couldn't take any more. We left during the break and talked the whole way home of how in the world they got 4.5 stars on yelp and got us to even sit there that long. I wanted to get up from the very first set and walk out. It was not worth the time or money to even sit there and pretend it was funny. And PS. If it's as I speculate....and all of these reviews are from family and friends to help your little club get off the ground and trick people into actually paying money to come see this?!....you should be ashamed of yourselves. Will never be back. I wish I could take my 20$ back and give it to a homeless person instead. read more

Best comedy show I've ever seen. Hands down. Everything is unique and customized to the crowd, so no two shows are alike. I was blown away by how witty, spontaneous, and hilarious the performers were. And how can you compete with the price? There's just no comparison. We also hired some of the actors for a side project we were doing. They came early, dressed well, were beyond professional, and executed to the highest degree. Can't wait to go back! read more
