Absolutely disgusting. I took my partner who ordered a roll and I ordered the beef ramen, for sides we got the broccoli and yakitori. The yakitori came out warm and not great, as well as being too thick. My ramen is store bought top ramen noodles with a beef "broth". The tiniest pieces of beef. I had to put so much soy sauce in there to make it even remotely edible, and I still won't finish the entire thing. read more

Glad we stumbled upon this place. We were staying in Pajaro Dunes for the weekend and did a quick Yelp search to find a place to eat on Friday. When we walked in, the place was packed which is always a good sign. They had such a huge menu and we noticed that everyone around us was eating kind of a bit of everything. That was also nice to see because that's a good sign that everything is pretty good. We went with the shrimp tempura for an appetizer which was really good. Came out super hot. We also had the spicy edamame and that was also a crowd pleaser with our table. We had the miso soup and side salad. The miso was really good, one of the better ones I've had for sure! The salad was also really tasty. We all ordered sushi rolls and everything was delicious. No complaints on food at all. The sauces on the sushi were enjoyable. Got served double fried chicken that was dried and had turned dark brown and tasted burned due to the chefs negligence. Strongly restrained myself with commenting a second time as it was a family event but I had ordered chicken katsu which comes with the katsu sauce which ALWAYS comes as the side as it's meant to be added to an individuals taste. Received the chicken drenched in the sauce and asked the waitress if I could have an order without the sauce which she stuttered but then took it back. I waited about 10 minutes as everyone else had finished their meals and by the time it came back to me, it was extremely notable that it was the original chicken I had on my plate but simply seemed like it was washed and refried to mask the flavor. Keep in mind I've just returned from a trip to Japan where I had tonkatsu and chicken katsu multiple times and this was disgustingly disappointing. I did not eat the meal whatsoever as it tasted horrid and purely burned. I would NOT recommend this place if you value your money as this meal was no where close to worth $21+. I would've taken a picture of the meal if it wasn't a family event but to keep the ambient neutral for the party, I strongly held back commenting but they should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for serving that to a customer. The waitress dropped the plate off extremely quickly the second time and it's clear they knew that it wasn't proper to do either. Overall terrible experience and NO WHERE close to the Japanese experience. A trip to asakusa would teach these chefs a lot about proper kitchen etiquette and how to properly cook a meal.... If you want a more proper Japanese experience, I'd highly recommend Sushi Garden. We only came here because Golden China was closed on Tuesday but NEVER AGAIN! read more

I come here all the time and I love the food and service with the exception of today. The host wearing glasses and a grey sweater was rude and my server (Livi) did not know what she was doing. They brought me my chicken teriyaki lunch special- with no assorted tempura, it was only zucchini, she forgot about my brown rice and I had to remind her twice; rather than removing the item from my bill, she handed it to me in a to go box on my way out. read more

This place is amazing!! Went in a little after 7 and saw that they close at 8 on Wednesday. The place was crowded. They sat us right away. Ask the guy who gave us the menus if we had to rush since they close in less than an hr. He said they will stay open as long as he has customers. Chatted with him some more and I felt he was the owner. Sure enough he said he was part owner. Our server Livvy (not sure on spelling) was awesome. She was super helpful with recommendations since they had tons of sushi options. We love the service Livvy provided. She said only been working there for a short time. Anyways, this place is so good that we will be back at the end of the week before we head home. Update: We went back on Friday like we said we would. The place was crowded. The mixed race Asian girl who sat us was very nice. She even remember us from two days prior and even remembered where she sat us then. She gave us a few options where we wanted to sit. Initially, our server was Serena. Then we saw the owner Kevin and he also remembered us. Kevin then personally became our server. We ordered a "boat" load of sushi again. Everything was delicious. We even had the opportunity to drink with Kevin!! His hospitality was much appreciated. We chatted with him and discovered he was a local of Watsonville, born and raised. I think all of us are in agreement that if we ever pass through on Highway 1 that we would stop in for lunch or dinner. We would probably stop in on Sunday but unfortunately they are closed. While searching for a new options that we haven't tried yet in Watsonville, I stumbled upon Imura, which worked out well as one of my colleagues was also craving Japanese. Called in to place our order and was informed that it would take about 40mins, as it was a big order and they apparently were quite busy at the time. This wasn't an issue as we were working 15hr+ days and a delayed dinner really did not affect our working dinner routine at all. When I arrived, there was no host to greet anyone, however all the tables were full and there was a line out the door waiting to get a seat. There's a clipboard with a waitlist that you can use to add your name to the queue, however being that I had a to-go order to pickup, I had to wait to flag down one of the crazy busy waitresses to let her know that I was there to pickup an order. The lady who I wound up flagging down appeared to be one of the owners, and knew what order I was mentioning as soon as I gave her my name. They had it ready for me in two boxes, and despite the craziness of the restaurant, she even offered to carry it for me out to my car. The food itself smelled amazing, and tasted even better! I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki, Tempura and Gyoza Bento box, which was one of the best bento boxes I've had in a LONG time! The chicken was perfectly crispy and delicious, the tempura was battered and fried to a nice, light, golden color with a very fresh and delicious shrimp in the middle, and the gyoza was enjoyable as well. In addition, the bento box comes with your choice of a miso soup, salad or steamed rice. I highly recommend Imura to anyone craving Japanese and will definitely be seeing more of them for our future dinner orders! read more

The jalapeño poppers were fantastic, on par with the best Japanese restaurants. The ramen here is unfortunately, not great. Definitely have their own version of how ramen is made, and it's not what you're going to be used to if you're a fan of ramen houses and the way it's traditionally prepared.
