Came on a Friday evening for date night. Ordered: Yellowtail Heaven, Tonkatsu Ramen, and a Ninja Roll. Yellowtail Heaven: The yellowtail was on the fattier side Tonkatsu Ramen: The broth was flavorful but lacked a bit of depth and savoriness. It could've been thicker, and the egg could use some improvement. Overall, though, it was a decent bowl. Ninja Roll: The quality of the salmon and yellowtail wasn't the best. I probably wouldn't order this roll again. I also ordered fresh wasabi, and it was served ground up, which was a different experience from how I usually have it. Service was quick, but our waitress seemed disengaged and unenthusiastic. The restaurant was reasonably clean, but the atmosphere shifted when more parties arrived; the music became drowned out, which changed the vibe. Totally delicious! Imura knows how to wine & dine you! Start with their delicious sake selection. I've never had flavored sake and it was super refreshing- we tried the peach. Wow! We travel a lot and Yelp is our only hope to find a good place to eat. Every single time Yelp comes through and it did again this time. We started with edamame and seaweed salad. The edamame was perfectly cooked and the seaweed salad was super fresh and not drenched in sauce. It had a light sesame flavor and came with thinly sliced cucumber. We ordered the geisha roll, Philly roll and the Las Vegas roll. A perfect trifecta and will blow your mind. First time trying a deep fried roll but our niece suggested it and it did not disappoint. I decided to try this place after seeing it on the "new sushi spots to try" e-mail I get from yelp. The 5 piece nigiri and sushi roll combo that I ordered was good, and the fish was fresh. The standout dish for me was the ahi tower. It not only tasted great, but was plated well too. I was a bit disappointed when the staff mixed it up before I had a chance to snap a picture, but imagine any other ahi tower at any other sushi place lol. There was a bit of a language barrier, which, at times, affected the service. Imura Sushi is still in its soft opening phase, so I understand they are still figuring things out. It was a bit of a bummer to find out that the robata is only available during dinner hours. I'll need to plan another visit around dinner time. It was great to see that all the sushi chefs at the bar were Japanese. This is not typically common, so it added an authentic touch to the dining experience. Overall, Imura Sushi offers great lunch special deals, with the 5 piece nigiri and sushi roll combo being a definite highlight. Despite the slight language barrier with the waitress and the service not being outstanding, I believe these are kinks that can be ironed out during their soft opening phase. Decided to try this place for lunch today after seeing their sponsored ad yesterday about their soft opening. Been waiting a few weeks since they had announced a few weeks back about a soft opening on a popular Facebook group. We dined at 1pm today and there was no wait, decor is cute. Staff is friendly. Food is fresh and good. We tried their salmon Ahi Tower and it came with big pieces of salmon. The sauce was a little bit on the sweet side but overall was delicious. My husband got the sushi bento and I got their beef teriyaki bento. My beef teriyaki tasted more like sweet beef and onion stir-fry, but I could be bias since I am a huge fan of Genroku's beef teriyaki bento (and nothing will likely ever compare). The highlight to my bento was surprisingly the California roll, which was made with (what I think) was brown rice and very fresh (imitation?) crab meat. Our server offered us free desserts and I got the green tea ice cream while my husband tried the Mont Blanc. The Mont Blanc was not exactly what I had envisioned in my head, but it was unique. I would give this place five stars but halfway through our lunch, the waitstaff was twiddling with dimming the lighting and a few lights including our overhead light started flickering and having this strobing effect. After a few minutes I couldn't take it anymore and asked the waiter what the issue was, and he promptly fixed it by brightening the lights again. I'm not sure how they could have left the lights like that knowing it was flickering so much. Overall the food was good and price was reasonable. My boyfriend and I have dined with Imura twice. The first time was a great experience--we had a super friendly and welcoming server who brought out our dishes fast and gave us a complementary side-dish to try alongside our sushi. The sushi itself was pretty good, but not spectacular. The pieces of fish were big and plentiful, which we appreciated. We ordered a bunch of nigiri including salmon, tuna, freshwater eel, sea eel, scallop, chutoro, red snapper, yellowtail, and a few others. We also ordered the lobster tail robata, alongside the calamari robata. These were our favorite dishes at this restaurant--the sauce and the grill on the seafood was SO tasty and was the main reason I returned for a second time. Another reason we later returned was because the owner walked us out alongside the awesome server we had, when we left. However, when we returned the second time, it was on my birthday that landed on a weekday in 2024. We ordered a variety of nigiri, the lobster + calamari robata, and I tried the Japanese scallops robata. The Japanese scallops were so bad that I could not take more than 2 bites. It might just be personal preference, but wow I really did not like that dish. There was a tiny bit of broth in the shell that the scallops were sitting in, and it was just not good at all, along with the texture of the scallops. I enjoyed everything else, but I am never ordering Japanese scallop robata again. The overall ambiance and cleanliness of the restaurant is good and has nothing wrong with it. It was clean and nicely decorated inside. Next, coming here was not my main birthday celebration, but it was on the actual day, so I was expecting at least a "happy birthday" from our server. Yet, despite being ID'ed from ordering sake, the server (a taller Asian girl with a long ponytail) took a few looks at my ID and simply handed it back to me. I even said "it's my birthday!" but she either didn't hear me or knowingly didn't respond as she walked away. We arrived around 7:45 PM, after I finished work, and they close at 9 PM, so we assumed we had enough time to eat without preventing them from closing at 9 PM. Around 8:30 PM, we were told the kitchen was closing soon, which we were 100% okay with, as we were almost done. But then, as we were wrapping up our meal and getting ready to leave around 8:45 PM, the server was giving us a little bit of attitude and the other staff behind the counter were eyeing us as if we were overstaying. This left a very sour taste in my mouth about this restaurant, especially considering it was my birthday. Those who know me, know that I am a huge sushi fanatic who is constantly looking for "regular" sushi restaurants that we return to weekly or biweekly. We will most likely not return to Imura Sushi and Robata, as it didn't impress us overall. read more

We used to love this place and come every or every other week. Got to know the owner and all the servers. Their food was amazing and of course, with the promotions they had had, getting a 5-star food for 3-star price even better. However, the owner changed. Servers we got to know and helped us for almost a year left. The food changed. Even something simple as hamachi kama (grilled yellowtail collar) was so bad that we had to send it back twice. Their miso ramen broth was cold when it came out. Everything just went south. I met the new owner once and don't know him well but I hope he makes some major improvements so we can come here again. Also, their chef is from Japan, which explains how good the food was on the night we visited. BACKGROUND: We were in Frisco to take care of business and the wife wanted sushi for dinner. Frisco is well-known for its steadily growing number of great sushi spots, but we just wanted something good and close. Imura amongst others came up, but I remember good things were said on Asian Grub DFW so off we went. FOOD In a word, fantastic. Wife ordered her sushi and I ordered tempura since I was in a cooked Japanese meal mood. Plus, I do judge a Japanese restaurant by how well it does tempura, since it's not easy. The sushi dinner she ordered was something else! Really great quality and she was gushing about it when she was eating it. She even let me try one of her scallops to validate what she was feeling about the quality. She was not wrong :) As for my tempura, I was equally impressed. Nice, light colored, crispy as all heck and NOT over done. The pasta corn mayo salad was unique and delicious. Oh, we also ordered our go-to appetizer, the Agedashi tofu. It was near perfect. It could've been cooked a wee bit more, but the radish garnish and sauce made up for it. The salad dressing on the fresh salad was excellent as was the complimentary chicken skweres the owner provided for us since it was our first visit. Because we drove from quite a distance, he also was kind enough to provide us with mochi ice cream. ATMOSPHERE The place is spotless and well-thought out. Very clean. And the bathroom as spotles as well. RETURN VISIT? It's not close but we'll be out in Frisco almost every weekend for business reasons. We'll continue to visit Imura when we're out there! Imura recently opened at the end of 2023 and is one of the best sushi restaurants in Frisco. They offered a BOGO sushi roll deal Monday through Thursday in February so I took advantage of that! There's also happy hour (half off Robata, hot sake, wine, and beer) until 6:30 pm from Monday through Thursday. I liked most of the Robatas, but the sushi is what everyone should try. I enjoyed every single roll I tried - Blizzard, Lovely, Tiena, Rainbow, Double Salmon, and Combination Volcano. Lots of variety to choose from, fish was fresh, and size was great. The servers were exceptionally kind and gracious. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. This will be my go to place when I get a hankering for sushi. Also, some of the sushi items were made with what seemed like brown rice. i did not care for that. given that this restaurant is still only a few months old, i hope they're still working stuff out and improving. I recommend the Black Cod, Potato Croquette, Kurobuta Pork Sausage and Chicken Karaage -- also all of the sashimi we tried was great too. The menu is a little confusing at times because there are some rolls in the "Rolls" section and then the same roll can also be listed in the "Specialty Rolls" section but the price a slightly higher. I had the sunset roll and I have to say their spicy salmon is amazing. Very different from anywhere I've had. From the time you walk into Imura Sushi & Robata, you are transported to a completely different realm. Delightfully adorned to achieve an upscale vibe with absolutely beautiful woodwork and color scheme to boot. The energy flowing through this place emits zen vibes and you can definitely feel them. First impressions are everything, and Mom and I just knew that even before we dined here, it would, without a doubt, become one of our regular places going forward. It is also their soft opening, so they are still starting out. The first thing I noticed when I walked in: no fishy odor emanating from the interior of the restaurant. Anyone who discovers this gem knows this will eventually become Frisco's best kept secret! We were promptly greeted by J.J - the General Manager who then seated us, handed us menus, and two ice waters. Service was efficient, quick, and friendly. Angie was our server. She was so sweet and made several suggestions as we had mentioned it was our first visit. She checked up on us throughout our meal and genuinely engaged in conversation. We started off with two Tokyo Mules. The intermingling flavors of the Sake and ginger beer were truly noted and refreshing! We also ordered the cucumber salad (for me) and seaweed salad (for Mom). Light on the palette and crisp toasted sesame seeds with that soaked Japanese vinegar flavor I love. It's definitely an acquired taste for others, but I happen to enjoy it. We then ordered Sushi - which was exactly how I envisioned it. Mom ordered the Avocado Roll and Shrimp Tempura Roll. It was the lunch special and came with miso soup and a side salad with a tangy and delicious citrusy dressing. I ordered the Caterpillar Roll. The eel was fresh and of high quality. Even the sushi rice was distinct. It had more of an authentic taste. For dessert, since it was their soft opening, it was complimentary. I ordered the green tea ice cream and Mom ordered the vanilla. We chatted with the GM J.J and servers Angie and Ericka before leaving. Amazing sushi! I think we found our new favorite place. First time here and it definitely won't be the last!
