5/5 - I don't usually leave reviews, but this place definitely deserves one. My dad and I stopped by Sushi Go in Allen, TX, and right as we walked in, Chef Stanley greeted us at the door with a big, friendly smile. The place looks nice from the outside (pictured), and the vibe inside felt super welcoming right away. We ordered the Shrimp Tempura (not listed on the menu wall) and the Volcano Roll (baked), and wow! both were incredible. Honestly, it's the best sushi I've had in the U.S., second only to what I've had in Kyoto, Japan. A few minutes after we were seated, Hniang came by with complimentary fried dumplings, which were absolutely delicious. Chef Stanley recommended the sushi bowl for next time, so that's definitely on my list. Overall, an incredible dining experience with stellar service from Stanley and his wife, Hniang. Just dined here for the first time and it was delicious!!!! We were greeted by the chef and another lady at the counter, both super sweet! We decided to try Sushi Go in Allen, TX last night for dinner. Let me just say the experience was WONDERFUL! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and friendliness. It was like we were part of the family. The wall menu offers a good selection with pictures to entice the palette, there are also some additional offerings like soups, salads, dumplings and a few other things. We decided on the Tempura Shrimp Roll, dumplings and a house salad. We were super excited to learn we earned a free Cali roll as well. BONUS! When our food arrived, we were a little surprised to see pink rice. I asked about the rice and found out they chose to use and serve the pink rice for it's health related benefits. (I googled it) Among the list of benefits, blood sugar control. As a diabetic, I was thrilled (even though I'm not terribly good with my diet). The house salad (minus tomato & cucumber) was a nice spring mix with fresh chunks of avocado and the most DELICIOUS ginger dressing!! Everything was wonderful, the roll, the dumplings, and the salad. We were so pleased. The best part was just before we left. I went to get a "go box" and started talking to the owners. They introduced themselves to us and we actually had a genuine conversation. Why did I not know about this place!! The best takeout Sushi in the area, hands down. Sometimes you just feel like sushi.. and this is the ONLY place that brings it on speed, taste, presentation, and service!!! We had to take a few minutes to read the menu because we were not familiar with the combinations but do not overlook the specials hanging on the blackboard!!! I couldn't read the sign but if you ask the owners are super nice and will read it to you. What we got: M-GO (mango on sushi? Yeah!), Lion King, Salmon Roll (classic and our litmus test), Rainbow Roll, and Dragon Roll. If you show up and order at the counter, you gotta wait a few mins while they make your order but SO worth the wait. They have a few tables inside if you want to dine in, but it seems mostly a takeout business. I got the spicy noodle bowl and seaweed salad. Both were terrific! The spice level is as advertised "very spicy", but not too much. And it was not all spice; plenty of flavor. They brought over a complimentary soup along with the noodle bowl. It was flavorful and far superior to most free soups I've had. The staff was nice and attentive. Next time I'll try the sushi and sashimi. read more

I tried this place because they're not too far from my job and had great ratings but I wasn't impressed. First impression, I was grossed out to walk in and see an older lady making someone's sushi roll without gloves or other protective covering. I mean flat out touching raw tuna with her bare hands on a tray. So I waited a while to decide if I was gonna order. The gentleman that was initially taking orders, started making orders so I place my order with the lady. RELUCTANTLY. I couldn't see if he used gloves or not. I ordered the steamed dumplings.... They were microwaved. I literally heard the microwave beep. They were a waste. They fell apart, had enough seasoning for anyone who lives in a nursing home, and the sauce paired with it was a very sour vinegar that simply didn't compliment them. My 2nd dish was the California roll topped with avocado . It has some cute name but I don't remember what. Very basic tho. Even for a California roll. Spicy Mayo was orange but no heat or flavor. Top sushi spot for us. Best I've had in the DFW area. Ideal for takeout since it's a small spot. Always super clean. Couple who run it are always pleasant and make the food look like a work of art. I walked into Sushi Go one day with my son because I was curious. What I found was a satisfying Sushi restaurant that can prepare a wonderful meal to go in minutes. We were not prepared for the large menu and spent a long time reading through the names and descriptions. The young lady behind the counter was delightful and joked with my 8 year old son as we decided. She knew the menu well and explained rolls we had questions about. We ordered more rolls than we could eat, but figured we'd try out some new things. We had the Crunchy Roll, the Angry Wife Roll, the Superman, the Moonwalk and the Hot Mama. It was more than we could eat and we had to bring the rest home. The rolls were prepared well and the food was delicious. It's amazing how fast they got the rolls to us, yet they were exceptional. The rice was pink. I'm not sure if this was a one time thing with food coloring or what, but I never thought to ask. Just thought I'd mention that because it threw me off a little. This made no difference in the taste of the food and actually looked nice. This place is more so geared for to go orders. You can dine in, but keep in mind the dine-in experience is limited due to the place being geared to faster service. After dining here with my son, I will order take-out from this place and will drop in for my Sushi fix when I want to eat at home. Sushi Go will always be my go-to spot to grab sushi whenever I'm in Allen! It's a family-owned business and the owners are always so kind and friendly. My brother and his friends used to be regulars before the pandemic, and the owners still recognize him whenever we go. The quality of the sushi also NEVER disappoints. The fish is always fresh, and I like how the rice is purple for the added ~health benefits~. My top picks: * Angry Wife roll: Lots of fish (she's pretty thicc), but boy does the jalapeño pack a PUNCH. I literally cried so next time I'm going to ask if they can replace it with cucumber LMAO. * Cry Baby 2 roll: I like spicy tuna and salmon, so this is basically the best of both worlds. * Crunch Roll: very nice crunch 10/10 * Crabby Fries: So delicious. Makes it worth smelling like crabby fries for the rest of the day (honestly not a bad thing anyway). TL;DR: Fresh sushi made by super friendly owners! Good neighborhood spot for sushi. Staff is friendly and food comes out fairly quickly. I definitely recommend the spicy crabby fries - so good I couldn't stop eating them! They have a good variety of various rolls so I'm sure they have something for everyone's pallet. It was a bit of a drive from downtown Dallas, but oh my goodness, it was so worth it. Upon walking in, the place was very clean and the employees were very sweet. They were only doing take-out orders when we were there due to the pandemic. We got the Only Allen, Crabby Fries, Dynamite roll, Sushi Bowl, and Shrimp Tacos. All were so delicious, especially the dishes that had garlic sauce drizzled on top. This was more than enough for 2 people so we had a lot leftover for dinner. My boyfriend's favorite was the Sushi Bowl and my favorites were both the rolls and Sushi Bowl. The rice was purplish/reddish because they made it with beetroot! Don't let this deter you! Cute place that only goes to go orders at the moment but the sushi is great. They use beet juice in the rice which makes the rolls a pinkish color. The man that served us even gave us free sashimi to go with our order. It was raw salmon I think. That was definitely the best part as it had a BBQ-like flavor to it. From then on, it became our tradition to order Sushi Go whenever I got my color done. Together we've tried nearly every roll they offer and I've never tried one I didn't like. My favorites are the crunch crab roll, wonder woman roll, and the red river roll. Pro tip: Don't order or show up when you're at the brink of starvation. It's been a while since we had sushi and since it was COVID-19 era, Sushi Go seemed like a good sushi fix to eat at home. My standard roll at any sushi place is the no rice, cucumber wrap roll with assorted fish, which is the Princess roll here at Sushi Go. My husband's go to roll is the rainbow roll (california roll with tuna, salmon, shrimp and avocado on top). To make sure we had a good spread, we added the crunch roll which had shrimp, crab and avocado inside and spicy tuna and crispy rice on top. Everything was pretty good. The only thing I wasn't too much of a fan of was the white sauce served with my princess roll; I'm used to having it with ponzu but perhaps next time I'll see if they can offer it. One unique thing I noticed was that they use a different type of rice. It's almost like a pale purple color; perhaps it's black rice? Most rolls are in the $8-10 range, so it's a bit cheaper than your average sit-down sushi restaurant. One tip I would suggest is to not order or visit near closing time. On the very first time we tried to visit, we couldn't order anything because there was not enough rice. This totally makes sense and of course we wouldn't want to get the last of the fresh fish rice. Overall, this was a good spot to try for a casual sushi takeout option. This place is located along the 75, on the west side of the freeway. Enjoy! read more
