First time trying Sushi Damu this afternoon. Had my order delivered from door dash. Everything came in cute containers and packaged in a very efficient manner. I ordered miso soup, tuna, mackerel, smelt egg, and escolar sushi. As well as the Jen Jen roll and naked veggie roll. Everything was extremely fresh and delicious! The Jen Jen roll with wrapped fresh salmon sashimi was incredible. Could order only this multiple times and be happy. The escolar sushi is basically a buttery tuna, and that was incredible as well. I want to preface my review with this: Sushi Damu was a go to spot between 5-7 years ago. Now the quality has significantly declined. The fish doesn't taste fresh. I ordered salmon sashimi and it tasted like it had been out for a week or more. I also had ordered a jen jen roll and tasted better since it had some sauce and crab meat but the salmon was so bad. Even though this is the case, prices have gone up. There was one roll that was so bad none of us could eat it. The outside of the roll tasted sour. I removed the thick sour wrapping and tried to eat the roll itself. It was the worst sushi experience of my life. I couldn't even pretend to finish the other rolls leftover because I still tasted that sour nasty taste in my mouth. For 2 dinner all you can eat meals plus one soda we paid ~$75. Overall, it's cheap, but definitely not worth the price. Honestly, even the pre-packaged rolls from Target taste better. The tables are dirty, and there was dust on the walls -- the place is just filthy, like no one ever cleans. What's shocking is that the same dust has been there for over six months. We stopped into Sushi Damu for a quick lunch. It's an AYCE sushi place with a great selection of rolls (fresh, low-carb, tempura and baked). The low-carb rolls are interesting they use thin slices of cucumber to replace the seaweed and rice (I recommend the Cucumber Skin Roll A). The cucumber makes the roll surprisingly refreshing and the crunch makes the eating experience quite enjoyable. We ordered several different rolls and a few of their premium offerings. But the best surprise would be the Dallas Roll and the Danielle Roll. The Dallas Roll consists of a California roll topped with salmon, tuna and a citrus onion and cilantro salad. The Danielle Roll has shrimp tempura and baked salmon on top and is bursting with flavor. The staff is friendly and very helpful. There's plenty of parking since this location is at the corner of strip mall. I can't wait to come back! read more

The bang for your buck is unmatched. Not only can you get a large quantity for your dollar, the quality is really really great! The sushi was delicious and I was so impressed by the variety. We tried about 15 different types of rolls. The only downside I would say is that a lot of the sushi had crab (California roll) but there was so much variety that you can easily try other things if you don't like that. They have an AYCE menu which I've never tried but they also have deals on multiple rolls too. My go to is the Philadelphia roll and rainbow roll. Their Philly roll uses fresh salmon and not smoked which is my preference. Always solid and fresh! Service is always wonderfu! Choices-wise, Sushi Damu is definitely heavy on the rolls. They have very limited kitchen options, nigiri, and no sashimi options for AYCE. However, the price is reasonable and I always leave full. The service is always good. On each occasion that I've gone, I've been greeted promptly and seated for service right away. They come by to take your order and clear out your plates without checkin on you too often. The ambiance is pretty casual. It's a small restaurant, but again, I've never had to wait. Their ordering limit / system is so dumb. Don't open an AYCE restaurant if you don't want people to order AYCE. The service was so ungodly slow despite chefs outnumbering the customers. They were more interested in what was on TV than fulfilling people's orders. Also very unprofessional to have workers (or hell, maybe it's the owner) smoking cigarettes at the front with the door propped open. My experience at Sushi Damu left me with mixed feelings. They offer an all-you-can-eat lunch deal, but it's not exactly what it seems. The quality of the sushi is average to slightly above average, with acceptable fish quality, although nothing exceptional. The salmon skin roll was very dry and tough, spicy tuna didn't seem fresh, others were okay. I enjoyed the Avocado Eel roll more than I expected, give that one a try if you like eel. The restaurant's temperature was uncomfortably warm, and the service was decent. A major downside was that nearly all their sushi rolls contained a significant amount of mayo krab mix, and the cuts of fish were on the thinner side. They don't hide on the menu that almost all of the rolls have mayo krab mix, but do count on rolls containing something like 80-90%, regardless of what other ingredients are listed. The rice lacked flavor and tasted like plain rice (as if it was made with no vinegar, salt, sugar, kombu, etc.), which was disappointing. However, my main concern is that the they cut you off for the all-you-can-eat deal once they feel that you've had enough, so it's not really all-you-can-eat. It's "all-the-sushi-chef-arbitrarily-thinks-you-should-have-on-that-given-day." They advertise a two hour limit and I was at about one hour when they told me that if I ordered more, I would be charged more. Also, the sushi bar is covered in restaurant supplies like boxes of straws, chopsticks, a jug of soy sauce, etc. offering minimal seating at the bar. It's just a messy environment. Walls and hanging art needs to be dusted. Sushi Damu provides an average dining experience with several drawbacks, particularly the misrepresentation of their all-you-can-eat deal. Decent AYCE sushi spot for about $30 per person. We went on a Thursday evening and it wasn't too packed, it has a decent variety of selection but the quality was so-so, I'd say it's a step down from Kura revolving sushi. Service was a bit slow and they forgot to include many of the selection we made, but for the money I'd say we got good value. Not sure if we'd go back since there are just too many other good sushi spots in town, but if you're craving sushi and want to eat your fill, give this place a try. read more
