I am new to the area and searched for a hair studio and initially choose In Bloom because of their online booking system, and having plenty of time slots open the day I wanted to get a haircut. I will now be a returning client to In Bloom because of getting a great haircut, and having a great overall experience. In Bloom is actually in a former house. Each stylist has their own room as kind of their own private mini-salon. Jilian was my stylist and I will definitely be booking with her again for my next haircut. First, she was very good about me describing and showing my former haircut style from my other stylist. Then she was great about adding her own personal touches and updating my hairstyle, letting me know each step of the way. Raquel did my hair for my wedding and she did a great job. I was really surprised when she was able to duplicate the picture I brought during my trial run. My hair looked great, and it stayed the entire day. Raquel brought an assistant and was able to do my hair, and hair for my three bridesmaids and mother in law in less than three hours. They finished ahead of schedule, giving us some time to munch on snacks before we had to leave. I don't normally get my hair cut or colored at In Bloom, but for a wedding, they were great! read more

Yesterday I went into Bloom Salon and was greeted by the very talented Kristin. She got me checked in and took me back to her station. I my self am a hairdresser and was very apprehensive about getting my hair done. From the start Kristin made me very comfortable and was super sweet. I came in will my hair having tons of warmer, brassier colors. I told Kristin I wanted my hair to be ashier and I wanted the warmer tones gone. She was very positive and knew exactly which direction would be best to get a great outcome for my hair. She was very personable and offered me coffee, in the cutest little glass cup. Coffee was great! When the service was finished. Kristin had given me exactly what I wanted. A beautiful, very natural looking ashy balayage. She refreshed and blended my root color in and over all, fixed the color of my hair and made me love my hair all over again. When I asked her to blend the hair around my face, she did exactly that. I absolutely love my hair. I would one hundred percent recommend Kristin. If you're looking for a stylist that you can trust, Kristin is your girl! As far as the salon. It was very quaint and quite. I have to express my delight with the cut/style that Raquel gave me today. It's the best since my regular stylist left the area two years ago. I was so sad to see her go, and I feel like I've been wandering in the desert for the past 2 years, from one mediocre cut to the next. Shelly colored and highlited my hair. She said it would be $90.00 for cut color and highlites. She said it would take 3 hours and she took 4 hours. After the 4 hours my hair was not what I had asked for and she more than doubled the price to $195.00. All this without a haircut. I called back 3 times to speak with sandy the owner and she will not return my calls. This place is a rip off.. Sandie called me back and refund a $100.00 of the $195.00 I spent and apologized for the confusion. That made me feel much better even tho I still dont like my hair. read more

I used to come to this salon to get my nails done by Gwen several years ago (before moving out of the area). I will be back in Monterey this week and called to make an appt yesterday. The receptionist told me that Gwen had relocated and is no longer working there. So, from what I was told, they no longer have anyone doing nails there (at least as of 3/17). She was always friendly & did an awesome job on my hair & if she thought it would be more harmful to my hair she would let me know & give me an alternate option. Sandy is seriously amazing! I have very fine/fragile hair that has been highlighted for the past decade, and she still manages to keep it healthy and looking great. I will second what another reviewer said that she is a brilliant colorist. When you tell her the color you want, she will consider your current color and your skin tone in order to pick the perfect color for you. Her highlight placement is impeccable and she is great at adding dimension to naturally flat color. Sandy also goes above and beyond for her clients. I was in a time crunch and couldn't make my schedule work to get in to see Sandy, so I went to see my mom's stylist in the Bay Area before an event I was going to. My mom's stylist completely botched my highlights, and my hair looked AWFUL. I called Sandy when I got back home and asked for her help in fixing my hair. I went to get a manicure with Gwen. She is very attentive and makes sure she cleans everything. They use only Aveda products. Parking can get kind of tight but it is located in a converted house. It is very relaxing and the staff are super sweet. I am definately coming back. They do massages, facials, and haircuts. Next time I probably will come back for a massage. read more

She even meticulously carried me through the trying process of going from years and years of coloring my hair to allowing it to be its natural grey. I am so thankful I found In Bloom to do my wedding hair and make-up! As another poster posted, Raquel is a genius and completely replicated not just the picture I showed her, but also those brought in my both of my bridesmaids. And Sandi did an amazing job on my make up! We had everything done at the salon, and it was a perfect venue for our small group! We had the whole salon to ourselves and were able to bring snacks and champagne, which made it really relaxing girl time! :) My hair held the whole night....in fact, other than the curls loosening a little over the course of the night, my pictures at the beginning look as good as those I've seen from the end. And I have already seen some pictures from at least 7 hours after make up was applied and it all still looked flawless! I am so thankful for In Bloom working us in and really setting the tone for a fantastic day! I did do a pre-wedding trial with Raquel, and definitely recommend it for future brides...although her work the first night was equal to that of the actual event, it definitely allowed her to get a feel for my hair and make some adjustments to how she was going to really set it that might not have happened the day of. In Bloom is a great salon for hair color and styling. Sandy has done my hair for years, and I'm always very pleased with the color (lots of compliments!) and the style. Like another reviewer, I am a natural redhead, and I'm very picky about covering the white that it's turned to as I've matured. Her color is right on, and she's very talented at highlighting and lowlighting so that my hair looks beautiful and natural. Plus, when I leave, my hair looks perfect! On another note: Sandy is the only person that my 12 year old son will let cut his hair! I then mentioned I wanted to donate my hair to locks of love and was willing to let her experiment with my hair. Shelly then proceeded to cut 10+ inches from my hair and decided to give me an hombre. I had a mani-pedi at In Bloom while visiting with my mother, and am so glad I found it! The salon is lovely, clean, and conveniently located. I had a great time chatting with the nail technician while relaxing with some hot tea. Their color selection is great, my manicure lasted an entire week, and my pedicure looked great for almost a month. After reading the reviews on Yelp I decided to book an appt with Sandy as I was pretty disappointed with my last color (high and lowlights) and cut at a different salon. Sandy is extremely sensitive and listens to what color(s) you're thinking about, where you're going with your hair and what issues you've had. I told Sandy I just wanted to SEE the different colors giving my hair some dimension. I've been growing my hair as it has a couple different layers. I told Sandy I would like bottom to eventually meet the shorter pieces so it's all one length at the bottom, one layer on top. Sandy just trimmed the bottom back.... It was perfect! Im taking baby steps as ive had a bad experience and didnt want a lot cut off. No one needs more trauma! The color is absolutely awesome! You can really see how the golden color "pops"with the lowlights. I love it! My hair looks thicker, healthier and has alot of shine. Ill be Sandy again in 10 weeks. read more

Recently moved to CA, and the first salon I went to was much less than impressive. I decided to go for an Aveda spa, as they are usually reliable. I landed on InBloom, based on Yelp reviews. I had a 90 minute massage with Cheryl first....that woman is magic! She was careful and attentive, and I had no feeling that she was just "going through the motions" (not much worse when you're getting a massage!). Turned me to buttah! Then I had a color and cut from Sandi. We collaborated on the style and color (I was adding highlights to my white hair)...she picked the perfect shade, I was glad I relied on her judgement. I came out of the salon smiling, can't get much better than that! And I will be back, for sure. My only 2 not-positive points might be...the massage room had no music, which was unusual. Cheryl said it should have been piped in but must not have been working. There was a fountain in the room, so that was good. Other thing is, part of the Aveda experience is the SMELL that usually permeates the salon...it's therapy for me to just breathe in there! InBloom did not have that smell particularly, and no aromatherapy was offered or used during the massage. I missed that! I didn't really get any Aveda scent until my hair was shampoo'd. As I said, I will be going back there, for sure. read more
