We possess a strange, biological urge to turn ordinary, commercial enterprises into places of worship. In-N-Out is a prime example of this phenomenon. Two of my traveling companions insisted that our road trip could not proceed until we made a pilgrimage to the location on Wadsworth Boulevard in Arvada. Because we live on the East Coast where this particular brand of fast food does not exist, they spoke of the restaurant with a quiet, holy reverence. One would think we were approaching an ancient mountain sanctuary rather than a burger joint with crisscrossed neon palm trees. The parking lot was a scene of controlled suburban chaos. Inside, the dining room was intensely clean. Young workers wearing crisp white aprons, red paper hats, and giant safety pins moved with the focused speed of emergency room nurses. Behind the counter, an employee was actively converting raw potatoes into fries with a mechanical slicer right in front of the counter. I ordered a Double Double, an order of Animal Style fries covered in "spread" and grilled onions, and a lemonade. The beef was fresh and never frozen, the lettuce was crisp, and the total cost was surprisingly reasonable. It was a very good, highly efficient lunch. This is where I must commit a mild blasphemy: I still prefer Five Guys. Somewhere in California, a true believer has just dropped his burger in absolute horror. Five Guys offers chaotic brown paper bags spilling over with greasy fries. In-N-Out offers geometric perfection, extreme order, and a secret menu that everyone on earth seems to know about. In-N-Out has mastered the art of doing a few simple things with absolute precision. I respect the machinery of it, and if I am ever passing through Arvada for some reason again, I will happily stop for another meal. We came in at 8:25, and did not get our food until 8:46. Food was fine. Fries were at least hot. Though "extra pickles" usually means more than 4, but I was too tired and hungry to care. Not sure why the low stars but I've received consistently good service here with quality burgers. The restaurant is as clean as it can be with how busy it was. Glad we were able to get a table as I love their burgers freshly consumed. I probably would give them a little less stars if it's to go as the grease can soggy up the bread if not eaten right away. I always get a double double w grilled whole onion and well done fries. Still can't believe they're in Colorado. I remember this was a must stop if we visit California or Utah and now it's 10 mins away. They are always busy but it's never too long of a wait, and their employees are always super nice. Definitely one of the smaller In N Outs. I brought my son here for what we like to call a "mommy baby date." The food was good not the best. Service was meh. The girl got my order wrong as I wanted a Double Double with an extra patty protein style but being by myself with my son I didn't put forth the fuss. read more

I've come to the conclusion that I am not an In-N-Out girlie. I don't get the hype :') This is my second time trying, and I'm just not feeling it. The fries taste dry and cardboard-y to me. Animal style on the fries is just not it for me - the sauce is too tangy and tastes sour. They are always packed and busy, including our visit to this one, so expect to wait a bit. I never thought i'd write a review on a fast food restaurant but here we are. In-N-Out definitely has always been a cultural icon especially on the west coast but you don't see them where i'm from in the northeast. I read a lot of reviews on this restaurant giving them 1 star and berating them with insults but i want to say that my burger was fresh, delicious and filling. The "animal fries" were decent. The fries weren't crispy, which seems to be a reoccurring theme from what i've read but they were decent enough nonetheless. The staff were kind and efficient even though they were slammed (even at 12am on a Sunday). I can't imagine what the workers go through on a day to day basis while making minimum wage. I think people need to realize that at the end of the day this is just a fast food joint. This isn't fine dining here, it's a cheap meal thats meant to fill you up. I'll be back! read more

I ate at several different locations, and I will say the hype for me has worn off. Judging by the lack of customers I'm guessing it has for them as well. Both the burger and the fries were lack luster at best. There are so many high-quality burger spots in the area, I'm thinking I will be eating my lunch at other locations. This was an overall great experience. I took my son for dinner. We did drive-thru and brought our food home. We went about 6:30 p.m., so after the dinner rush. There were several cars in the drive-thru. There are two lines. I picked one and pulled up to a real human, instead of a box, to take my order. I placed our order and we were instructed which car to pull behind. We were next at the payment window, swift and courteous. Then around the building to pick up. It was timely and everything was correct. We zipped home to try our bounty. We both got single cheeseburgers, animal style. We also did animal style for our fries. We even upped our order to get shakes instead of soda. I had chocolate and he had strawberry. The burgers were tasty. The lettuce was crisp and overall good flavors. I think the animal fries were my favorite of the meal. Smothered in caramelized onion, cheese and their special sauce, these were a taste treat. The shakes were not super thick so you could drink them through a straw without causing an aneurism. I thoroughly enjoyed my chocolate and got high marks from my son on the strawberry. I thought the pricing was fair for what we received with all of our additions. We did notice for future that there is both indoor and outdoor space available for dining there. We were then told the shake machine was down and they tried to replace it with a soda...really, this was ridiculous as the price difference is significant. Our order was also wrong. I ordered and extra french fry and they charged me for an order of fries that had sauce and onions on them. I had to wait 3 minutes to get the fries replaced. The attitude of the staff was terrible. They asked for my receipt to verify the order and then they threw it away!! The employee would not print me a new receipt! I wanted to call and complain to corporate, but without a receipt, I cannot provide to them the information they need to address the issue. Very disappointing visit. In-N-Out. You're either a fan or a hater. I never understood the controversy. All I know is that the burgers are amazing and the service is always top-notch! The burgers are always awesome and made to order. The patties are perfectly cooked, vegetables are nice and crisp, buns are nicely toasted, and something about the cheese that they use is so good. Fries are pretty good. I personally like them extra fried. What's even better than the food here is the service. Wow. They always have plenty of employees working at all times keeping the business running smoothly. The restaurant is always sparkly clean as well as the bathrooms. Burgers have come a long way since my first in-n-out burger experience. One could argue that they started the burger movement, especially when it comes to a thin double patty burger. While they still churn out a great burger, they've been surpassed by plenty of smaller local places nationwide wide. Their popularity is still evident by their massive following. Came here on the 2nd day of opening, a Friday afternoon at 1pm. We were expecting craziness and the worst traffic but they were ready! Employees were assisting with the drive thru but we found parking easy. Went in "line" inside and walked straight up to the counter. No wait at all! Finding seating was easy. We opted for outside as it was such a nice day (they have heaters out there for the winter). Harry was helping us outside. He brought our food over, got us extra spread and brought us all our drinks and milkshakes. Even helped bus our tables for us afterwards. He was so great and his customer service was the best! Stoked, absolutely stoked I tell you about an In-N-Out in my 'hood! They threw up this location with lightning speed. For the rest of the construction on Wadsworth, hire the In-N-Out construction crew and the roads would be fixed within a week! Though a new location, I'd say the staff is relatively equipped and has a sense of urgency compared to other fast food joints. The drive thru was quick, although a decent line on a weeknight. If you don't order a Double Double frankly you're not living correctly. This was probably my least favorite burger from In-N-Out in years. It lacked flavor and didn't hit like it normally does. What was more disappointing were the fries that were ice cold. ICE COLD. I wish I was kidding. My first impression of this location wasn't a smashing success like I had hoped. I've been to the ones throughout the metro and this was by far the lowest quality of food I've experienced from any of them. Fluke? Off day? Really hoping so. Eileen, took our order @ the location in Arvada @ 7494 W, 52nd Ave. My granddaughter & her friend placed their order, then my daughter placed her order, then I put my order in on the same ticket. When we received our food we were missing 1-order of fries & also the double double hamburger only had 1-patty on it. When I went back to show Eileen my receipt, she had said that she only charged me for 2 fries, not 3. So I had to pay for another fries. I told her about the double double only having 1-patty on it, so she then proceeded to charge me for another double double, I told her I didn't want to pay for another double double cheeseburger, I only wanted the other patty that comes on a double double..... She obviously did not understand what I needed, so I asked to speak to a manager. The manager came I explained everything to her, but by then I was fuming, she did offer to make another double double, but I told her to just forget about it..... This is one restaurant location that I will never step one foot in, EVER..... They need to hire workers who can take an order & listen to the customers needs. All in all, when I placed my order she obviously did not pay attention & listen to what I ordered, she only payed attention to half of my order.....
