Wow! What a find. We came around noon, and it was easy to see this place is well loved. My kids ordered doubles, and definitely had leftover food to share. I love a good smash burger, and these are seasoned well, straight forward, and very delicious. And oh the fries - fabulous! So crispy and the perfect compliment to our burgers. We got both the regular and seasoned fries and were not disappointed. My daughter declared the seasoned fries the best she's ever had. The inside of the restaurant is clean and the tables are nice and large for all the food we devoured. The tables were also very clean, and seemed like the staff was on top of keeping everything sparkling. The staff were super friendly, and I saw someone walking around the restaurant multiple times to check in with tables, and meet any unforeseen needs. One of the best decisions we made was ordering shakes. Holy moly. So thick and creamy. According to my hubby their season key lime shake was like drinking a literal key lime pie. He's not wrong. The RR Donut burger was def worth the hype and the wait. The service was great even though they were visibly swamped and overwhelmed. I also like that you can see them preparing the ground beef, which makes everything feel fresh and transparent. The food comes out pretty quickly, and the prices are standard. Mango Lemonade: This drink is really great. The mango flavor is light and not overpowering. It's so refreshing and not too sour or too sweet, it honestly has the perfect balance. I was passing by this area after picking Thing Two up from ACC. I had no idea there was a Buddy's location this close to me. Therefore, this meant I had to stop immediately and get a burger. For those who aren't aware, this is Buddy's third location. The original location is in Austin, the second in San Marcos and the latest location is now in Round Rock. This is a locally owned burger shop that specializes in made to order Angus hamburgers. For this visit, I went through the drive-through as opposed to going inside. It should be noted that those who desire libations as opposed to lemonade and soda, dining in may be the best option as beers on tap may be purchased inside. Spicy with cheese & fries This is my go-to burger when coming to Buddy's. Aside from the burger being fresh, the added jalapeños, "spicy smack sauce" and pepper jack cheese really gives this burger an edge over the stereotypical burger place. This burger is savory, slightly spicy and lean. I added bacon to this burger for an additional $1. As these burgers are made to order, items such as grilled onions, grilled jalapeños and bacon can be added for an additional price. If purchasing a meal, fries come with the meal but it is possible to go with the seasoned fries, which is what I did. The seasoned fries are slightly salty, crispy and have a slight crunch. If you are feeling really froggy, you'll put your fries in-between your burger and enjoy the burger and fries simultaneously! Drive-through experience I developed a rapport with Isaac who took my order in the drive-through. He was pleasant, funny and upbeat. When in the drive-through I advised Isaac I had my kids in the car and wasn't trying to "order the whole menu". With my meal, I ordered one chocolate shake but to my surprise, when I pulled up to the window to pay, Isaac gave me two shakes as opposed to one for The Things to enjoy. This place is amazing and one of the best things that make this place is mr.John michael, the manager that they have on site here. I finally stopped in to try a burger. I read all the reviews on how they had a great burger. I was a doubter but no more. The double spicy is excellent. The sauce makes it a bit messy but dang it is good. I'll ask for extra jalapeños next time. The seasoned fries are good. Nothing spectacular but still good. I can't decide if it's better than Whataburger. I still rate Top Notch's Longhorn Burger as best in town. The price is reasonable and it definitely is a very good burger. This is the third location of a local mini-chain that's also in San Marcos and Austin and I'm enjoying the new construction that's a cross between P. Terry's and Shake Shack with eye-catching architecture outside and natural wood inside. There's a drive-through outside for convenience but the interior is surprisingly roomy with 15 tables in the dining room (including some that seat 6) and more seating around the outside edge. The decor is pretty spare but everything is clean and new. The menu is pretty small too but has everything you need for a good smash burger and the "Double Classic with Cheese" that I ate sure hit the spot. I'm sad they charge extra for grilled onions because many others do that for free. But the burger was still plenty thick and juicy and had some pepper that I enjoyed. And the price was fair at $7.09 which I appreciated. They also have shakes and fries that I didn't try this time but look worthwhile for next time. My husband had the Frito Pie Burger which is a special until the end of February and I had a double cheese burger. We both had the seasoned fries and I had a strawberry lemonade and he had the special chocolate peanut butter shake. The entire experience was pleasant. I loved their sauce they put on the burger, I wish it had been distributed better so that most of it didn't end up on the wrapper but the burger was spot on and you could tell it was fresh meat. A 35 minutes turnaround to get burgers and fries at fast food restaurant is not what my hangry family imagined after a fun morning in Georgetown. We could have just eaten at a restaurant there. We were there an hour after opening; in that short time, there was already no soap in the bathroom, no ketchup in the bottles, food I had to wipe down on the table/chairs. The seasoned fries were good, at least, which is worth the second star. After months of seeing the signs that it was coming soon finally today was my chance to visit Buddy burgers. yes, they've been around Austin for a long time but kind of out of my way.. Very nice building the drive-through was about four or five cars ahead of us cones wrapped around the building to kind of signal a grand opening, but I think it was more of a soft opening not a grand yet, but it was lunchtime and it was time to try them out. I went all in and ordered the double cheese classic combo. I added pickles and onions. However I was given grilled onions instead and charge $.40 didn't ask for that, but we'll talk about that in a minute. The order taker was polite clear and recommended many things to try like the lemonade, the milkshakes, etc., I opted for the seasoned fries, which looked pretty good and a Coke, which I was corrected. They only have Pepsi, which I'm not a fan of because it always comes out terrible thru a fountain. Total price $14.91 a little pricey but that's the typical price that seems anywhere now for a combo meal specially a double cheeseburger by itself with seven dollars and some change which isn't bad for a standalone burger . Took about 13 minutes to get to the drive up window door yes there's no drive up window. It's more like a door like Chick-fil-A and they greet you by standing there and handing your food. I was hoping the time I got home. it was still hot Now for the burger review and I must say if you like P Terry's, it's kind of similar the meat is really thick grilled. You can taste the char on it, which was really good and overall the cheese was gooey and definitely add pickles, and it was still hot. I included a picture of the menu where you can add bacon jalapeños, and of course, the grilled onions which were charged to me even though I wanted the raw onions on the burger, but it's OK mistakes happen . The season fries were all that seasoned very good fresh hot and I'm only about maybe eight minutes from home so it still kept freshness and was pretty good. The Pepsi obviously lacked a little punch, but I still drank it l. Overall give this place a try. I definitely will be back. Let's see if they keep up their great service because like all new places they start off high end and they kind of fizzle off in the middle somewhere, over time so let's cheer them on and welcome to our community. read more

Let's start with parking and location. Parking is ample but creates friction with the drive-thru. It's located across the street from an already traffic stressed Meadow Lake subdivision. Getting in and out of here is not pleasant. The cashiers will upsell you on the size of the hamburger, claiming the classic isn't large enough, which is really crazy because the food here isn't cheap. We're talking 12-17$ per person before any taxes. There's no children's menu either, so kids will be paying full price. When your order is ready, you'll be presented with a bag of food, and no tray. Prepare to eat on the table and hope the employees are attentive to the cleanliness of the restaurant. Finally, the food. They claim they serve smash burgers, but what we received were very much normal sized burger patties. They even had pink in the center of them. This is something we arent accustomed to when indulging in a smash burger. Overall, the flavor is very sauce forward, and rather unliked. They claim they use high quality products, so why drown it out in copious amounts of cheese and sauce. For reference, my family all indulged in the Classic with Cheese x2, Double Spicy with Cheese. The lemonade was the shining star here, and was rather refreshing. To be thorough, we decided to also order shakes, just to see if there was a hidden gem within. The coffee flavored shake I ordered, just tasted like ice cream and oreo cookies.. yes. OREO. The reasoning behind the decision to sprinkle cookies in the coffee shake was so that it'd look like coffee grounds were atop the shake. That's an odd decision, and I certainly didn't care for the additional cookies. The banana pudding shakes were actually quite nice, but incredibly sweet! Finally, our bill for three meals and three shakes was around 60 dollars. In conclusion, we weren't fans. We arent looking forward to the additional traffic on Old Settlers, and we won't be returning to this restaurant. The non-spicy burger might have been a better option. (Just an fyi, we live 5 mins away so it shouldn't have melted that quickly.) The 30 minute drive through wait wasn't worth the food.
