Alas, the infamous In-N-Out by the SF Airport. My friends and I got there on a Sunday at 10:20 am. It opens at 10:30am but they were already letting people in. There was a legit line already. I cannot even imagine what it is like during peak eating times. As for the food, burgers were as satisfying as ever. I got the double double, full of juicy meat, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and sauce. The fries are a bit of miss. The fries were made from fresh potatoes which was great, but I definitely have had better fries elsewhere. Overall, super yum. read more

Don't get me wrong I love in n out! It's by far a favorite "fast food"... But throughout the years I've seen the meat qualify go down and down. I've been a customer of in n out since the first one opened in NorCal in Santa Clara way back around mid 1990s. The meat patty has gotten super thin! I get the double double and the meat patty looks like McDonald's Big Mac. I'm sad that it got too that... I guess because prices are still fairly reasonable, gotta cut cost somewhere, especially with all the customers they serve. Also, they grease their buns with oils now, more than ever. The fries are freshly made everyday, while the burger is just heavenly. Although I have heard of the legendary "animal style" toppings that can be requested, I prefer to have my burger and fries without the extras. SERVICE: Excellent. Just a stone's throw away from the international terminal at SFO is this very In-N-Out one exist away going on HW 1 South. Whether I'm ready for my first meal in San Francisco or departing the Bay for the great unknown, this is always a stellar choice. Like any good In-N-Out, they're just always busy. Outside, there are lines for the drive thru. Inside, there are usually hordes of people - from students to tourists to random visitors no looking to brave the crappy highway traffic during the city rush hour. And of course, the layout is almost exactly the same as all In-N-Outs. A delicious double double caked in animal style? Check. Fresh veggies stuffed inside the burger that make for a nice water crispy bite? Check. Fries that aren't burnt and too greasy? Check and check. Shakes aplenty? Check x 10. This is how it's supposed to be. Another note for those who might be using a laptop or charging your phone like yours truly: the only outlet in the entire eating space, is at the small table for two next to the door. Wow, what a burger. I have heard of this place and thought it would be like a Shake Shack (I've been to that place and it was good) but I'd say this is a notch above. I had the double cheese burger with fries and a strawberry shake. I could've easily eaten two burgers and another order of fries, I really don't know how they do it but the burger is just the perfect version of a burger for under $7. I don't know if there is a better burger for that price. Fries are better than McDonald's, which I'm not a MD fan but they are known for their fries and they are damn good (whether they're made of plastic or not haha) The shake was good as well, maybe the least great thing there but still good. The combo of all 3 is basically America explained with food, and that's not a bad thing. I really became a fan. For fast food I now have a new #1, it's In n Out (also I waited to try Fat Burger to decide and while I really enjoyed FatBurger and consider both amazing burger spots) as the overall top spot for fast food burger. Love it! This In-N-Out really has its stuff together. This is one of the busiest locations I've been to (because it's so close to Millbrae BART/CalTrain), and things moved very smoothly and very quickly. There was plenty of parking in the lot. The bathrooms were reasonably clean. The staff was a little overwhelmed by the rush of the crowd following the 49ers game, but they really cranked out a lot of food to a lot of people very quickly! I was impressed. I got in what seemed like a long line, and the next thing I knew, I was at the front. The person helping me was very nice, though he had to repeat my order back to me 4 times. I ordered a hamburger, 2 fries, a double-double protein-style no onions heavy pickles, and a drink. Yes, that last one was complicated, but oh well. The cashier had a great attitude, told me my number, and told me what number they had just called (so I'd know I'd be waiting a bit). I found a seat right away. While I sat, the staff very quickly replaced the pink lemonade and the self-dispensing ketchup machines. It seemed like the staff was constantly moving and working. I couldn't finish an SF trip without getting In N Out. With only one hour to spare before my flight, I ordered an Uber from the airport to stop specifically to get in n out, and surprisingly the driver happily accepted if I get him a hamburger as well. So the adventure was on! We arrived but to our dismay, the drive thru line weaved into the gas station adjacent to the store itself. Short on time, the driver offered to drop me by the entrance. Thanks to some friendly customers, I was able to apologize and skip a few people in the line just enough to be able to order and make my flight. I ordered a double double animal style with regular fries to go. I'm amazed at the speed of their customer service and really applaud them for how fast they get through orders. Even though I was 10 orders behind I was able to pick up my food and go in under 5 minutes. My only complaint was that the fries were haphazardly tossed in the bag so I was a bit of a mess reaching into the bag and fisting fries into my mouth in the TSA line (I'm glad I opted out of getting animal style fries). If you have more time, it's nice to be able plane watch and see the arrivals/departures from SFO. However, be ready to fight for your life over a table. read more

It's a certain mind set embodied by those going out for a burger-fix when you need it. Anyway, this place was like many other IOBs I have tried, very efficient, fun to learn the lingo, but when it comes to taste, it's just a little bland. This applies to the fries more than the burgers. The burgers are good but the fries at McDonalds are better than IOB, hate to say it but... So, if you are an IOB burger fan, and don't agree with my potatoe snobbishness, then you will love this restaurant. They are super efficient and super clean. read more

Now, I've been reading several reviews, and I do agree with some of them. Is it the best burger I've ever had? Meh, probably not. Are these the best fries I've ever had? Nope. So what is so great about In-N-Out? It's the quality, taste, price, and experience that make In-N-Out what it is. Now, let me sort of rescind what I said earlier. "Is it the best burger I've ever had? Meh, probably not." But it is the best fast-food burger I've had for the price I paid. I've been to several burger places, and none really match the quality and price of an In-N-Out burger. Burgers of equivalent quality cost a lot more. For example, you'll be paying for only one burger (some not even including customizations to the burger) the same amount you'd be paying for a burger, fries, and a drink at In-N-Out. You know the fries are fresh because you see them cut up the potatoes as you order. Yes, I've heard it before... "I've had better burgers at X, Y, and Z." But, come on... admit it... you haven't had burgers, fries, and a drink/shake this good for a great price. The decor is pretty cool too. It's like a blast from the past. I really enjoy the 40s-70s cultures and sometimes I feel like I'm experiencing what people in the past tasted and enjoyed. And yes, their not-so-secret "secret menu" adds some variability to your orders. It's really not a secret. You can go online, type in "In-N-Out Secret Menu," and sound like a regular that knows the low-key secret. Something interesting is that certain In-N-Outs have special, secret orders only attainable in that region. The only problem I have, which I guess isn't too big of a problem, is that I wish their chocolate shakes were more chocolatey! It tastes more like a black and white shake (a choice on their secret menu). I guess I'm just a chocolate lover. In short: Food: A- or B+ Price: A Tip: What would I get? #1: Double-double, fries, and a chocolate shake (which is interchangeable for a fountain drink). For some reason this location has a hard time keeping up with demand. The orders are released in random order, ie way out of sequential order, and when you ask "what happened to 87 now that we're on 3" they get pretty rude. I've noticed this on a couple of occasions and now we just go to Five Guys cause they know how to turn it around. read more
