I am pregnant and was craving a sandwich. My husband went out after kids were asleep and ordered me a grilled chicken combo sandwich and not only was it wrong bread and numerous items were not included on the sandwich. He said every young employee there acted so frustrated that he was ordering. Not to mention, One of the two veggies they decided to put on was "off." My pregnancy instincts and body thankfully kicked in and all of.it came up but when we called to let them know the sandwich was incorrect, the worker acted annoyed. We simply asked for a manager name to come in tomorrow and talk about the $16 sandwich order mess up and maybe get another. We were told to come in tomorrow with the sandwich to talk to someone. We are big fans of Firehouse Subs but today are very disappointed in the customer service and the food itself. We were greeted poorly upon entry but still went ahead to go order. When ordering, the girl at the register kept staring at us as if we were crazy when we'd try to order anything, almost as if she just wasn't even knowledgeable on the menu or something. We were met with lots of silence and stares from her, it was uncomfortable. Once we finally got to ordering our TWO subs, which took 6 minutes too long to finally order, we drove home to eat. Once arriving home, our subs were not made properly. So many topping were missing, pickle spears were missing, and we were just overall completely over the experience. I want everyone to know the service was horrible... when I got my order it was wrong... when I took it back up to have it corrected the young man said I build it like you said... then asked me if I wanted my money back after he was not willing to fix it... a manager did come up when she heard what was going on and asked to remake my order.... Two weeks ago I called to place an order for pickup. No answer. This was the first time in 10 years as a customer nobody answered. Historically good food and service. I called several more times until getting an answer. The employee said they were to "not currently taking phone orders because we are slammed with orders in-store." So, I drove to the store. Inside were two customers total, both sitting at the same table. The restaurant was practically empty. I asked if that was what "slammed" looked like? She began gossiping with another employee about "if he wants to see, he can come back here and find out" intermingled with cursing toward me as well. I submitted the information to corporate through their online submission process requesting to speak with someone about what I felt like was probably an isolated issue with these two unprofessional employees. To date, nobody has contacted me. I'll still be a Firehouse customer, just not at this location. read more

Meh, not impressed. I ordered a large sandwich and asked for olives, pepperoncinis and extra cherry peppers. I think there were a total of three olives, 3 pepperoncinis and two cherry peppers on a large sandwich (not exaggerating). Staff was ok. I just feel like I've had much better experiences at other locations and the sandwiches were always so much better. At the end of the day it's still Firehouse Subs, so that's why I am giving three stars instead of two. If I could give zero stars I would. We ordered through Grubhub and three of the four sandwiches we ordered were wrong. When I called the girl I spoke to was so incredibly rude to me. I did two build your own sandwiches (one for a picky child and another for a dairy allergy) and both arrived with cheese and added toppings. She argued that I ordered improperly and then said "I remake the one I agree is wrong and then you can call grubhub and beg them to come get it for you". This location advertises delivery as an option, but I have only been able to order delivery on 1 occasion. When I call to ask if it is available, nobody seems to know the answer. I ordered 4 subs using the Firehouse app on my iPhone. Ordering was easy and since I signed up for the frequent buyer program, I received a free large drink. Subs that we ordered were turkey (2), smokehouse beef and cheddar brisket, and New York steamer. All but one of the turkey subs were ordered hot. Steamy Subs. Sexy Firefighters. Sounds like a romance novel at Half Price Books. Firehouse Subs is amongst the many up and coming "casual fast food" chains that are changing the market. For those of you keeping notes, these are places that serve you as quickly as a fast food chain, but charge you like a sit down restaurant. Its like a fast food place for people with decent paychecks. Firehouse is a sub shop, so they are up against Subway, Quiznos, Lennys, Blimpie, Which Wich, Jimmy Johns, Jersey Mikes etc. Not exactly reinventing the wheel here. What I like about Firehouse is their signature "cooking" (its precooked, relax) method of steaming. Its like "toasting" your sub at other places, but maintains more flavor, more softness, more moisture... and well... just tastes better. The 2nd part that makes Firehouse unique is the hot sauce selection. This is an original feature that always makes eating here more fun. Sauces are lined up in a rack and rated 1-10 for hotness. Grab several bottles and take them back to your seat for some experimentation. To soak your buds in tasty suds, they have the ever popular Coke Freestyle machine here, along with fresh lemons and limes. You can get pretty creative with your drinks if you feel the need. Go for it honcho. Expect to spend $8-$12 here on dinner or lunch, about the same as you would at nearby Freebirds. Its tasty for sure, and might be my favorite chain sub shop. Hook and Ladder is my top choice for a meal if you care to know. Stop into Firehouse and order up a sub, nice and steamy like... fully involved. How effective is a fan with one blade? Not a highly relevant question for a review of a sub shop and no there was not a literal fan with one blade. However the consequences of such a device would be equally desirable to my recent lunch . . . NOT. I was in no rush so the fact that I was the only one waiting to place an order and it took awhile to be even noticed was not the end of the world. There were 6 people that I could see working and they did look busy, doing what I am not clear on (it was not on careful preparation of my sub). Regardless, I tried their steak and cheese sub and I can't recommend it. My biggest issue was the overly thick and chewy "slices" of meat. A friend wanted to eat here because he really loves the subs. I was not impressed at all. It was just a sandwich, and one I could have made better myself. I had the hook and ladder sub on wheat which was a ham and turkey. I don't like condiments on my sandwiches so I had the mayo and mustard left off and I had no cheese. This would have been the perfect time for the flavors of the meats to shine through, right? No. Not so much. The turkey was bland and the ham just tasted like artificial something...I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be maple or honey or smoke. It was just a funky chemical taste. The theme is really neat with everything being firehouse related, and kids get fire hats to wear, but strictly based on the food-not eating there again. My 79 year old mother came to visit us in Texas and we stopped at Firehouse in Rockwall. She wanted to pay. The host, RM, was about the most apathetic and dismissive toward her and me as I've ever seen anyone be during any restaurant interaction I've ever been in. Poor eye contact, disgraceful mumbly attitude, and the opposite of a friendly smile. We weren't doing anything other than being our normal friendly selves and this young man made us feel as if we were subhuman in the callous, jaded way he treated us. Completely unpleasant. Shockingly unpleasant. It was like he wished we were dead. The sandwich tasted great, but I hope there wasn't spit in it. The whole dine-in experience was completely ruined by the attitudes of RM and the rest of the staff. In fact my whole day is basically ruined because I'm sitting here upset about how a complete stranger could be so cruel toward my mother for no apparent reason. As we were leaving, the rest of the crew patronizingly shouted "have a nice day!" to my mother repeatedly until she responded. I wish I could know what we did to be treated this way. I've been wanting to try Firehouse for a long time. I went for the first time today at the Rockwall location. When I walked in, the smell was AMAZING. I ordered the Meatball sub after seeing the commercial on tv. The food is amazing. Best subs I've ever had. It is now 5 hours later and I just sent my husband to get more subs. Great subs! I love the cheesesteak and meatball sub. Good meat quality, fresh toppings, and you are sometimes greeted when you enter. The service is either great or really slow. Generally, the service is adequate, but the food is always very good! I wish the service level was consistent and a little faster. The manager here often yells at the employees or treats them poorly. I have noticed that in several visits. Not good. Example: Discuss issues with employees when customers are not around. Also, let employees feel valued not just with pay, but with encouragement.
