I normally love spin class, but I went to the Saturday class with Linda as the instructor. She pointed out someone wasn't as good as their mother in front of the entire class. Then proceeds to get off her bike and go around to everyone yelling at them to go faster. Stay in your lane Linda. Everyone has different cardio levels, or health issues. I've never been to a class where the instructor gets off the bike before and I've been to hundreds of classes with other instructors like Sarah, Don and Leanne. Linda shouldn't be an instructor there if that's how she's going to treat people. read more

Let me start with your staff is excellent, my problem with this gym is the guy in his 40-50"s who constantly raps and yells his rap songs in the gym. Anytime staff tells him to stop he calls them bitches and to shut the fuck up. I do not understand how this guy is still able to workout here. He is extremely disrespectful to staff and gym goers in the sauna and general workout area. I see this guy here atleast 3 times a week and his actions never change. Have a bad experience with lady in front being very rude. I had checked in the day before and then had a green light when I signed in, but I was stopped and told I couldn't come in because my home gym had got their spa running. Every year or so the pool just gets nasty filthy. They might bring somebody in to clean it once but then it just gets bad again. I really wish that they would take care of this pool. I tried contacting them directly but I couldn't find an email on their website. Or a phone number. So here I am on Yelp. I will come back and reel this if they clean the pool. In-Shape used to offer 3 early morning classes. Recently they canceled 2 of those. It is so disappointing because a lot of us work full time with families. So going after work just isn't an option. Myself and several others are looking for a new gym that is more receptive to our needs. So the 2 stars is due to the lack of early classes. read more

I have been an inshape member for a long time. Way before I even moved to Modesto. Cancelled my membership due to Covid and joined again. For the past months, I have put my account on hold. Due to my husband hospitalization and for whatever reason my daughter did not like going to the kids club anymore. There was no way of me going. Called for cancellation and they told me to take the hold off and then cancel and that there is a 30 day notice and they told me that for the rest of the month and a couple of days in February I would have to pay. To me it did not make sense when Im paying for something that I will not be using at all since I have put my account on hold for months. They told me theres nothing much they could do. So I will be paying over $80 for nothing. On top of that im sure they have charged me for the $5 for the hold. read more

This place is way bigger than the one I go to on Prescott. It looks newer too but that could just be the upkeep. Also, I guess each In-shape has different rooms for different things, which I love. They also have newer equipment here that we didn't know how to operate lol. That was funny. Only thing I didn't like about this location was that their upstairs wasn't dedicated to women like the one on Prescott is. It gives women privacy & comfortability to workout without eyes of a man, ya know? This locations upstairs is dedicated to pilates I think. Their pool area is smaller too. I had a terrible experience here while visiting from out-of-town. I called ahead and asked about day passes or options for a guest, and was told I could use a 7-day free pass. Awesome! I needed to continue my training for a 100-mile cycling race I had coming up and their spin classes looked great. I reminded them I was just visiting and didn't want a membership and they said it would be no problem. When I arrived for the class, the front desk employee said I'd need to leave my driver's license and talk to a membership employee at the end of my class. Sounded easy - I had a great spin class and really enjoyed it. Then I went to pick up my DL and had to wait for the employee, who started in on a sales pitch to me about why I should buy a membership so when I came to visit again I could use the gym. Um, okay. I wasn't interested and told him so, and he went to get a supervisor like he needed backup to sell me this membership. I do not do well with high-pressure sales and these guys were 10x worse than car salesmen. Then I had to tell them again that I had called ahead and clarified that I was told I could use the free pass, but they made me feel extremely guilty for using the free pass and not purchasing a membership. The supervisor was very intimidating and made me feel terrible. When I said I'd have to talk to my husband (who is out of state) as one last way to get out, they said they'd wait while I called him RIGHT THEN (??!!). I told them no again, and on and on, until finally they were pressuring me to just sign up and then I could cancel later. (Obviously the are getting some kind of commission just to have someone sign up, ugh.) At this point I was almost in tears, and I felt I couldn't leave until I purchased a membership so I bought one just so I could get out the door. When I was in the parking lot, in tears and shaking, my husband called them back and canceled it. Thankfully all the charges were reversed with no issue. If I didn't expect the same treatment, I would have followed up to their superiors. The whole experience was horrible and I've never experienced it at any gym. I can't believe their business practices and insane tactics for coercing people into memberships to fulfill whatever quotas they are expected to fill. I get that gyms have a certain business model but just hire nicer employees, and don't falsely tell me I can use a free pass with no strings attached. Want to reserve a swimming lane so you can enjoy it with your wife and two kids (who all have memberships) after work and schooll? Not at In Shape, move along somewhere else. I was told now you need to reserve family swim time that's between 12 - 4 PM (Psst, most likely working and kids in school) or 7 - 9 PM (Dinner and bed time). Even looked in the app and there is 0 ways to reserve this family swim time. Not sure how that works out business wise, a family of 4 membership isn't cheap... Also this facility is one person per labe for the time slot. 1 vs 4 in a lane is the deal breaker? But their decision. Giving 2 stars as I said it wasn't an issue before and you guys are now enforcing new policies (was told it was always policy but they admitted it wasn't followed). I said this is perfect reason to just cancel the whole family plan here and now. The manager agreed. He's just enforcing their policy. I'm just gonna take our business elsewhere. read more

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP HERE. first off to cancel your membership apparently they need 30 days notice which they never told me about when you sign up. So essentially that means you basically have to pay for an entire month after you don't want work out there. Which wouldn't really be an issue but they're charging 55 dollars and that's with my first responder discount. On top of that my account has been on hold (which you have to pay for 15 a month) and I can't access the gym. I tried to cancel my member from here they told me I couldn't do it from hold. They also told me I had to pay my yearly fee that's again another 50 dollars which is crazy because my account is on hold. So to cancel my membership I have to reactivate my account with first responder discount is 55 since I put my account on hold was 15 a month and the yearly fee of 50 dollars so for the price of 120 dollars I was able to cancel my membership. Disgusting business model. (I went to gym here for 3 months then put my account on hold for 1 month so about 4-5 months and I have to pay a yearly fee.) do yourself a favor and go to a locally owned gym. read more

I have been a member of 24 hour fitness for many years and decided to purchase a gold membership at this club since I've moved to the area. The customer service was decent but they are obviously very much in a hurry to sign people up and don't do much to assess the needs of their client. I think it's a good value, but beware of the miscellaneous charge that's outlined in the fine print of your membership. Halfway through each year you will be charged a membership fee on top of your regular membership fee. After reading this I cannot find a valid reason for the charge but there seems to be no way around it. As for the facilities, I really liked the layout of this place, they have three swimming pools, a hot tub, sauna and steam room. If there was a separate rating for cleanliness I would give this place zero stars. I've only visited this gym six times since I joined and I am apall at the filth in the locker room. The fixtures in the showers are slimy and greasy with built-up scum and who knows what else. The locker room is too small and becomes very cramped during busy times. I really wish the management would pay more attention to the unsanitary conditions in the showers and locker rooms. After a nice workout, the smell of urine In the shower is not the best way to wind down. I'll likely be canceling my membership if this place doesn't get cleaned up. But my recent experience at the Floyd St InShape store was so unbelievably bad, I feel compelled to share with anyone who may be thinking of joining this facility. I have been a member for a couple of years, but last summer, due to a family member's health issue, I went into the club to cancel, thinking at some point I would re-join. I was told by staff that they had an option for $5/mo to temporarily suspend membership, and you could come in a reactivate it later. I did that last summer at the counter, although it took over an hour. Today I walk in to reactivate and find out it was never suspended and they've been billing me $23/mo for the last 8 months. The manager was totally rude and unprofessional to me and my wife. read more

One of their staff remembered my name. Very cool. The group fitness room doesn't have enough mats and step risers to accommodate the whole class. Zumba was a little slow but Eva is a fun instructor. Heather's power pump class rocks. It took me 5 minutes to park because the lot was full. This particular location of In-Shape isn't as nice inside as some of the others. It feels more cramped inside. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE and communication. The sales people are very pushy. I have been charged several month for my child after I cancelled the kids zone, for several months. I have followed up for ever and they denied the reimbursement .. they also denied a reimbursement of $900 for personal training that I decided not to keep. The customer service is very unprofessional and rude, they literally argue with you like it's their money they don't want to return to you. I DON'T RECOMMEND getting a membership here. I joined the InShape gym on Prescott just before the Pandemic virus took hold. I called the reception and told them that I had sciatica again and was unable to do much of anythiong physically. My Caregiver suggested that we resign. I told the reception desk that we wanted to resign. We are both over 80 years old. We had bot been to the gym only once or twice for an hour. Then the shutdown came and the gym shutdown I contacted mgmnt and told them we wanted to resign our membership and did not want to be billed. We received a whatever bill for 52 dollars. I will pay only under duress. I was a member years ago, but used the gym and paid for it. This is the gym trying to squeeze money out of an 80 year old widower, veteran of Viet Nam War and living on Social Security. read more

I'm really upset with my experience here. I paid for a 2-person membership with enrollment and monthly fees. Prior to purchasing I met with an in shape representative, who gave us a tour of the place and when discussing benefits, promised us a plus one guest per person. Since most gyms offer this benefit I didn't question it's validity. After attending the gym for a couple months, I was informed by staff and later spoke with corporate and on duty manager that this information given to us was false, and turns out we are NOT able to bring a plus one, we can "bring someone" and they have to sign up for a 7-day pass to try out the facility which truly has nothing to do with my membership packet, and is offered to everyone who walks through the door, but "my guest" can't return with me after that 7-day trial period. I feel completely lied to, and would not have chosen this gym if I had known otherwise, and been told the correct/honest policy in place from the beginning. Now I have to take my enrollment fee of $50+ as a loss and find a new gym that offers this benefit. Waste of time, money, and on in-shape's part a clear lack of integrity. read more

But since New Year's, most of the staff members have slowly left location. My relationship with this gym has really changed. Ok, so I can see a lot of complaints about parking. Yes it's a hassle but I don't believe it's a reflection on the staff or gym. I get my eyebrows done and my fiance gets his haircuts in the same shopping center. The parking structure is messed up period. Not In-Shapes fault. The staff are nice and pleasant. I've never been approached by the personal trainers too sign up for one and I appreciate that. The reason I definitely will come back to this location.. the staff that deals with the kids!!! They are super legit!!! My daughter struggled for a little while with me leaving her there. But they made her so comfortable and she really loves the ladies that work there now. I think it's a plus they hired someone who is going to school to specialize in areas dealing with kids. I don't know if they specifically looked for that but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! They just could of stuck a glorified babysitter in there but they went above and beyond with that staff. Gym is always clean and classes are fun. Tvs are great and upstairs area is always nice to get a lil privacy when needed. Side-note yes the weights and dumbbells can be all over the place and not put away properly. I don't think that's the staffs fault at all either. I see staff trying to straighten them up often but I mean come on... it's people who are to lazy to rerack the weights they use correctly. Tom was promoted and went to a new location, so we have a new Fit Camp trainer named Hugo. He circuit trains us on Wednesday nights from 4:30-5:30pm and just started classes on Saturday mornings at 8:00-9:00 am. Class is great and my workout kicks my butt every time I go and I feel great afterwards. All the training staff is great at helping you out on all the equipment, in fact the Head trainer lady, Sheryl, showed me how to do a push up on the TRX. OUCH!!!! is all I have to say. This place has the worse customer service!!! Some of the equipment could use some cleaning as well, along with a much bigger parking lot. I understand gyms are busy, but people go in and out all the time doing their own thing, so it's not like they keep the workers busy. All the employees do is STAND behind a counter talking and bsing and when you ask for help, it's the end of the world to them....I once asked that young brunette at the front desk for a towel and she snatched it and just tossed it at me hella rude. I thought she was having a bad day so I let it go. I was wrong. She's been the front desk person a couple times that I've came in. She always seems annoyed with life & when I say "thank you" in a friendly way she never says anything back - just walks away. Well...I'm going to do two reviews, one for this location, and one for the McHenry location...because I have had different experiences at both. First off, I have been a member at this location on and off since about 1998. I quit about four years ago because I just wasn't using it enough. Then, I joined again about three months before my wedding last year...you know, to shed a few before the big day. Anyway, here's the thing. The first time I joined I was in a year contract, whuch is pretty standard (so I thought) for any gym. So I sign up again assuming I was in another year contract and since I didn't ask, I guess the guy who signed me up decided he'd fail to mention the fact that I was now entering into a 3...yes a 3 year contract!!! I know, lesson learned...never ASSUME anything..I should have asked or read my contract , more thoroughly but come on...3 years????!!!! Anyway, I am obligated now till January 2010...so I better utilize it right? As for accommodations at this location, they need to seriously fix their tv's. Usually there's a couple not working or non existant, and when they are on it seems like they always have cartoons on a couple channels...um last time I checked...children were in the daycare area...not on the treadmills. This location is by far more crowded than the McHenry one and you often have to wait for elypticals. I do like that they have a women's only center upstairs...for those times you just don't want to be seen by the guys. All in all though, you'd be better off going to the one on Mchenry...which I'll review next. And the worst thing about this place is the lack of parking outside. I realize that has little to do with the workout experience but, if you have to circle th parking lot for 15 minutes before you find a spot, your mood when you get in the gym will not make for a pleasant workout. They seriously need to do something about the parking situation! They share the lot with Modesto traffic court, where people also go for DUI and drug probation classes which means, you're fighting for parking with a bunch of low lives every night who could give a rats ass is you pay $50 a month for a gym membership and would appreciate a place to park. Phew...thanks for listening to my rant :) By the way...I'm not saying you're automatically a low life if you had a DUI or drug issues, many of my friends have had DUI's but the people for the most part I've seen there are pretty low on the classy scale. I am so fed up with this gym. The parking lot is atrocious. A combination of undersized parking and people from traffic court parking in the gym lot. The staff at the front desk barely acknowledges you walking in the door. I walked right in today with out having my card scanned. The woman at the desk was too busy talking on the phone to pay attention. The inattentive staff is pretty much an every day thing here, they're either on the phone or gossiping with each other. This gym has a pretty good variety of work out machines. Only problem is that the staff never really fully acknowledges your presence here. I'm never one to complain but it seems like they are always in their own little world talking to each other and ignoring whoever walks in having a question. So you're basically either on your own or have to wait for them to stop talking to acknowledge you! I'd recommend coming in the off times since the gym is pretty small and can get crowded from group classes. read more

I live in Naraghi lake and I go to their location on Floyd and McHenry instead of here even though it's just about a mile from my house. So... here are the reasons why.... 1) Attitude: the attitude of this gym and the folks who propagate here are more neanderthal than most of the other places here in town. Meathead central... 2) Organization: I'm sure this coincides with the clientele or the management...but if you pull two 25 lb dumbbells... Why can't you put them back into the marked 25 lb. Space on the rack? It makes no sense. If you want to have to search for equipment...GO HERE! 3) HEAT: I have never been here when it hasn't been hot and humid here. I believe the humidity leaches over from the pool area...but when you start to sweat before you work out. Seriously, what's the deal. I won't speak to management style other than the fact that they can't or choose not to monitor and enforce just common organization and structure with their clientele...or maybe their employees. FLOYD EMPLOYEE'S 5/5 STARS / CORPORATE EMPLOYEE'S 5/5 Thank you employees of the Floyd location. If it was not for Armando (my personal trainer) along with James and Colby I would have jumped ship to another gym. The corporate office was extremely rude to me over a billing mistake on In-Shapes end. I got lost in the system over an expired contract when the new system rolled over. I was treated like dirt from the corporate office and was told I owed over $1,200 dollars. I am still waiting to hear back about how I was treated. It is employees like the ones listed above that are giving the gym a five start evaluation. As a nearby teacher I am not recommending In-Shape to anyone until corporate responses to my second request for a resolution to terrible service. Those phone calls to the corporate office are supposeldy recorded and I can not wait till someone reviews that recording. UPDATE; ***Thank you Inshape Corporate Office for following up with my bad experience with an employee via the phone a few weeks ago. Gabby, the representative for Inshape, called me today to follow up with my concerns. It was nice to have someone take the time to reflect on the situation and address my concerns. I've been a member there for over a year and this is one of my favorite locations, they basically have everything you want to complete a good workout! Equipment is super nice and clean! The employees are professional and they treat you very well especially the front desk employee Hashim who I always noticed that he brings a positive attitude to the members, he always makes members smile which is great! Another employee that I think is doing great is the housekeeper Nikko! He always keeps himself busy cleaning equipment and he is a very funny guy! I appreciate management for training their employees well! Definitely recommend this location! read more
