This is not a judgment freeze. I was harassed by a man while I was working out he was telling me that he was sitting on the machine person that I should get up. I told him to leave me alone. He continue to stand next to me harassing me, and then he called the manager, and she too, was harassing me while there was a machine that was the same as the one that I was using wide open, I told him to use it and he said no I want your machine and the manager was entertaining him and she told me I didn't have good gym etiquette and now they kicked me out of the gym because I didn't cooperate and because I said something rude when the manager walked away because they have cameras that listen to what you say read more

I'm extremely uncomfortable working out at this Planet Fitness location on Orangeburg Ave in Modesto. On multiple visits, there were men lingering around machines without actually working out--just standing, staring, and making women uncomfortable, especially near the StairMasters and treadmills. There should be staff actively monitoring the floor to make sure people are there to exercise, not loiter and gawk at others. That lack of oversight completely ruined the environment for me and made it feel unsafe and unwelcoming. I won't be returning. I've since joined Hotworx a few doors down, where I feel much more comfortable and supported, and where the atmosphere is largely women-focused and respectful. read more

I've been a PF member since they opened. Never had to leave a review on Yelp but my experience today (Saturday May 15,2025 at 8:20 am) is reflective of my usual experience when checking in. Seems that PF owners/management don't even train their staff or they choose employees who lack any customer service skills. At the time of this writing, I'm at PF using the elliptical. It seems the staff isn't aware of the 10/5. Planet Fitness policy that states : staff members are expected to acknowledge and interact with anyone within 5 feet of them. Since I knew of this rule, when I entered to check in today, there was 2 staff in the front (Hispanic guy and a dirty blonde girl). Soon as I went close to the scanner, the dirty blonde girl looks at me and moves away from the scanner and the guy just stands there) and just lets me scan my phone. No hello or "have a good workout" This hasn't been a first time with that girl. Seems that's just her personality for being a Gen Z. Maybe management needs to retrain the staff about the 10/5 rule since I've mentioned this already on Google review weeks ago. Clearly, nothing has changed. But to all PF members or potential people signing up, just observe how the staff greets or not greet. There are some good employees who do greet when I work out around 6 am weekdays. They usually are the guy PF staff so just not trying to say all have no manners. But hopefully management will look at the time I stated and see who was working this shift. As for machines, no complaints. Can get crowded but just work around available machines. read more

Honestly this gym is close to my house but it's honestly not worth coming too anymore. Theres never any parking and when you do find parking you just see employees and everyone outside smoking. Definitely is not a judgement free zone as every workout they're watching you like a hawk. And finally all of the staff member when you ask them a question seem to all have attitude and make it seem like you're bothering them when they're constantly just sitting up front on their phones. This gym has consistently broken equipment that will not be fixed for weeks or months and if it does get fixed it will only be done half ass!! All the machines are in a poor state of affairs! They should hire staff that not only mans the desk but also is able to fix some of the equipment. Make it a work requirement and pay a little more. This was my first time at this gym. I was looking for a membership for which I could use unlimited and also in Stockton . At the counter, the young man who help me made it very easy. You end up signing up online and downloading their app, which is how you check in. I feel like $25 a month for unlimited is very fair considering all the amenities. read more

They have roaches at the Modesto, Orangeburg location. Canceled my membership in January due to the roaches and there being no hot water for showers for several months. Mentioned this to the manager several times and all they said was the water heater got replaced last year. Charged me in Feb with a late fee. Notified staff about roaches in January and when I talked to the manager Xilonen today she said no one told her and there has been no pest control out there. The manager said she doesn't have a supervisor and she is the highest up and there is no one I can talk to to resolve this. read more

My family and I have been going to this gym for a few years now. We enjoy the atmosphere and the workers are always friendly. We especially enjoy working with Ariel. She's always willing to help out with any questions we have and also helps out with memberships when we need help with that. The gym is always clean and we always enjoy our workouts there. read more

Super nice and friendly staff. One woman seemed like she was new to the job and I could see a different blonde woman training her and being super helpful towards her. Love to see it. They also helped me change gym locations easily and also helped me obtain my lost items. One thing I have to say is that it takes them a while to fix broken gym equipment. I paid (in full) for what i thought was a 2year membership for 2 grand daughters. My girls informed me they expired, but i knew they had at least till the end of this year. I called PF (Briggsmore) irritated over the expired memberships. Ms Ezzy is the manager and i explained my concern. Pulling up the paper work she said it was purchased in Sept. 2023 and I rudely spoke over her before she could finish talking letting her know it wasnt 2 years yet! Ms Ezzy let me vent a few more concerns then politely explained the 2 memberships were each on an extended plan for $199 (18 months) not $99 a year like i had thought. Ms Ezzy I apologize for any rudeness on my part. Thank you for being patient with me, for nicely explaining what was my mistake, and above all for being the most professional manager I ever encountered. read more

Free summers for kids should have a designated time frame in the mornings. Adults get off work and want to workout and the kids sit around on the machines talk to friends and play on their phones. Takes extra long to get your workout done wihen the students are just hanging out for free. read more

Gym is pretty good and has good equipment quantity unless it's primetime. Usually from 4pm to 10pm you will not be able to use any of the smythe machines to do bench press or shoulder press because all machines will be taken by females doing squats. Good luck getting a turn as the girls will be there for hours staring at the mirror. Will have to look for another gym specifically for this reason. read more

Ever since they do the free summers for high schoolers, there has been equipment broken down. It stays broken for weeks-the whole summer even! I'm all for keeping kids healthy, but there needs to be supervision. I've been in the locker rooms listening to young girls plan an illegal distribution, if you know what I mean. The air conditioner has been broken for over a week and the staff isn't experienced or attentive (select few are super nice). My family plans to cancel soon. They should offer free membership to those who have a parent attending the gym. Pay a little bit more for a better and more clean gym. read more

This is ridiculous that all the cable machines have been broke for months. Instead of working out I'm sitting here writing this review. I never given any business a bad rating but this is getting really frustrating. The same excuses are given every time that parts are coming it'll be fixed soon. Over 3 months already and still nothing is being done. We shouldn't have to pay for membership fee if we can't even use it. Get this fix management your excuses aren't cutting it anymore. The setup for this location is excellent. Something about it feels comfortable compared to other gyms. The front staff could be friendlier, and the equipment could be repaired more frequently. One staff told me the repair person doesn't come in when scheduled or even want to do their job, which makes sense because so many machines are marked "out of order" or they should be! read more

There's been several equipment that has been broken for over a month now (step-master, hip abduction), and this week there were 3 more that had broken signs. And the bicep curl machine in the yellow room (circuit room) that is severely worn down. Where is management to resolve these broken machines. Update since my last review. 2 out of the 4 stair master machines are now out of order in addition to more machines to work out the lower body. How long does it take to get this resolved as now more equipment is becoming out of order. read more

Ok, I'm not actually a member yet. I'm a Senior with an Advantage Plan that allows me to get myself into a program that might hopefully help me to drop those extra pounds that I have managed to add over the last several years. This is one of several facilities I can choose from. Being old, short and more round than I'm comfortable with, I dropped into this club when I felt it would be very slow. A young guy named Jadeyn took the time to show me around, explain the different equipment and make sure that I knew that the space was nonjudgmental and ready to focus on meeting my needs. Having read the various reviews by others, I can honestly say that the space was clean and I didn't see any equipment taped off or marked as out of service. And the massage chair(s) alone seems worth joining. DEFINITELY worth a look! read more

Small and very overcrowded now that the hours have changed. Which is a major disappointment. I specifically joined Planet Fitness because it was open 24 hours. It fit my schedule as I work overnights, so on days off I could go in and even when I get off it wasn't too bad. I also have terrible gym anxiety and get anxious in large crowded spaces. Which is all this gym has become. You can hardly get on anything since lifters hog machines or weights all hours of the day now. Tried out this location with my Black Card membership and after my workout when I got back to the locker room to get my gym bag my lock was missing and my bag was clearly tossed to the ground. God forbid I had anything valuable in my bag except my wallet with a few credit cards. I instantly reported it to the front desk and the girls in the front had absolutely no care in the world almost like I was interrupting the two girls conversation. They did recommend not to use the locker rooms anymore because lockers being broken into was reported on a weekly basis. I live closer to the Briggsmore location anyway and the new one on Pelandale is opening soon so I for sure won't be going back to this location. read more

Went in for the free 3 day pass, was charged $20 because you had to download the app and i did not have my password correctly. The gym only has one machine for most popular exercises so had to wait on most instances so could only do a half a workout as the place is full with people. Unfriendly, unhelpful staff. Too many people. Not enough equipment. I do not recommend this place. read more
