terrible food, my homecooked maggi is definitely better than this. Absolutely terrible. mango lassi was good though to be honest. DO NOT trust your instincts, always trust the Yelp reviews. Also all the sauce has been expired before I was born

    Fungus in jamun

We ordered dinner from this place, and it turned out to be a poor choice. The "spicy" basil fried rice had no spice at all, and the gulab jamun had fungus. We unfortunately ate a piece before noticing, and now we're concerned about any potential impact on our health.

My friend and I recently tried dinner here and first impression...not too shabby! Nice atmosphere/ambiance, clean and organize. They have a bar with creative drinks. The service was slightly slow to get us seated even though it wasn't crowded. They have Chinese and Indian and Thai dishes. I tired the vegetable yellow curry dish (comes with rice) and my friend tried the butter chicken (also comes with rice). Delicious!

The ambiance is quite nice, the food is hit and miss, Ordered triple schezwan, wasn't even close to what it is supposed to be, Manchow soup came in warm, Which they reheated on request and replaced my triple schezwan with burnt garlic fried rice, which was so much better. The masala papad was nice, and so were the paneer tacos. The fried ice-cream for dessert was nice but it's supposed to be hot and crisp from outside (fried) and cold from inside ( ice cream) which wasn't the case. The service was nice and patient.

I don't know why this place doesn't have more stars for the rating. Food and portion size are both really good! All the food comes piping hot and the portion sizes are massive! Definitely recommend the place. All the entries come with rice on the side (good amount of rice) so think about that when ordering. Veg Hakka noodles was so light and flavorful and had a really nice taste of its own without any side dish needed! Chili Vegetables were actually VERY spicy! Don't get me wrong, I actually love spicy food and found the chili chicken (which was supposed to be spicy) a good dish. But this dish was actually hella spicy! Definitely take the rice on the side or some fried rice or haka noodles to neutralize the taste. Vegetables were cooked perfectly tender and the sauce was nice as well. Just very spicy. Loved the Chili Chicken (dry). Chicken is cooked well, not too much batter coating outside the actual pieces or anything like that. Spice level was perfect and reminded me of Chili Chicken I had at an Indo-Chinese restaurant in India. Only downside is that there were a lot of onions in the plate to fill up space. I would have appreciated more chicken in there. Chicken Manchurian was also very nice. Not super sweet, not salty, not tangy. Just a very good flavor. Good amount of gravy in there as well, and went nicely with the Hakka noodles. Husband got the Mango Lassi and it was very thick and strong mango flavor and actually super nice. I had a hard time stopping myself from finishing it up.

Lebanese style falafels are the best and this place nails it. We waited about 15 mins for someone to come and offer us menus or beverages but it seemed as though we had been forgotten. It felt like we were an inconvenience. My husband ended up calling over a waiter and asked if we could order as we had looked up the menu's online. Our waiter, George, was phenomenal! Super kind, apologetic and kept us updated throughout the night. He understood that we were not having the best experience, and was trying his best to make us feel comfortable and welcomed. We had a baby with us so we asked that we be seated away from any hookah, and they really honored that request and made sure nobody near us was smoking. The food was decent, well seasoned and tasty, but nothing mindblowing. Slow to arrive but it seemed like this evening in particular was just a new kind of busy for the restaurant. In any case, I think if you've got time to sit and chat and wait for food and service, you won't feel it as much, but we had a baby, and a group of hungry adults who felt every minute of the waiting. I'd probably come back on a weeknight and try it out again; hoping that we don't get forgotten about by our first waitress.

Several beer pitchers in @ HACHI (just next door-shout out to them)-- for a celebration of a breakup, the end of midterms, or simply the triumph of continuing to exist (in THIS economy?? were all needing to praise ourselves for simply surviving) -- we found ourselves drawn, like moths to a fluorescently lit flame, to Halal Guys. Now listen. The food? Solid. Reliable. The kind of food that understands you are not here for nuance. You are here because life has punched you in the throat and you require a plate of rice, chicken, gyro meat, and mysterious white sauce to spiritually stabilize. I used to go to the OG one in NYC when i was getting punched in the throat there too. (PUNCHED IN THE THROAT BY ACADEMIA, FIGURATIVELY, y'all haver crazy imaginations outthere). BUT it;s the people... It's always the people... The staff. My siblings in falafel... it was 10 PM. You could feel the collective energy of "we have been serving drunk people since sunset and you are the 437th group tonight explaining your breakup story while pointing at the menu." Not judging, just warmth and the quiet aura of people who have seen things. Who have witnessed humanity at its lowest point: ordering extra hot sauce and then immediately regretting it. Overall (1/5) This was easily my worst Halal Guys experience…read moreand honestly left me really disappointed. I came craving something familiar and left feeling like I wasted both time and money. First Impressions (1/5) When I walked in, there was only one person working, handling the fryer, the register, and assembling plates. I genuinely felt bad for her, especially considering the steady line forming. What We Got (2/5) I ordered a regular plate, which is what I usually get at Halal Guys. Nothing customized or complicated, just the standard order I have had many times before at other locations. Taste and Quality (0/5) The food was shockingly bad. The rice was raw and crunchy, which was hard to believe at first. The meat pieces were tiny and very chewy, and the pita bread was extremely soggy. On top of that, it was only around 4 pm and the usual spinning meat and grill were not even on, despite the line picking up. Service (2/5) The worker was clearly trying her best, but one person running everything in a busy location is not realistic. She was constantly running back and forth between the fryer and the line, which made the whole operation feel chaotic and slow. Space and Atmosphere (3/5) The space itself was fine and what you would expect from Halal Guys. Clean enough, but nothing stood out positively enough to offset the food experience. Was It Worth It (0/5) Not at all. As someone who is pretty frugal and almost always finishes their meals, I could not finish this plate. It genuinely felt like a waste of $18. Final Thoughts This location does not seem to be held to the same standards as other Halal Guys in the area. This experience was disappointing from start to finish.

One detail I loved was the screen playing old-school Indian movies in the background. It adds a layer of nostalgia to the experience that's hard to describe, almost like the feeling you get watching classic black-and-white films. The food does take a little while to come out, but it's absolutely worth the wait. Service is friendly. Samosa Chaat (9/10) - An explosion of flavours. I loved that they leave larger chunks of samosa throughout the dish instead of turning it into one giant mashed potato bowl. Great texture and balance. Dahi Puri (8/10) - Refreshing, slightly spicy, sweet, and savuory all at once. Plus, it's a fun dish to eat. Lamb Curry (7.5/10) - The meat was tender and the curry itself was rich and flavuorful. Butter Chicken (8.5/10) - Packed with flavor and hands down the best butter chicken I've had in Orange County. My only complaint is that the portion wasn't bigger. However this time I thought I would try something different. So I ordered online with Mint. All the pictures and reviews were decent so why not? Well I should've stuck with my OG's because this was not it. I ordered x2 buttered chicken that was in a very small container (see photo attached) for $20 EACH! Garlic Naan that was $5, Mango Lassi also $5 and Gelato. First, if you guys are paying $20 for a small tiny container of butter chicken in LH please please do yourself a favor and go try Southern Spice. Their flavors are mouthwatering and the portion is huge. I understand inflation but this is ridiculous and the flavor is blah. It's like there is no spices in there at all just butter and tomato sauce AND the kicker...no rice! Super weird to me that they do not automatically give you rice! Like who just orders butter chicken or any Indian,Chinese, Korean dish for that matter without rice! I mean rice has to cost you guys a pretty small fraction no? Just give people 1/2c of rice! If not, at least you should make note of that on your menu so people know ahead of ordering. The garlic Naan is decent really no complaints there, the Mango Lassi they gave me was the size of a kiddy cup (see photo) Literally a child's sippy cup is bigger than what I received for $5 insane! And just to make matters worse, when I opened by bag they placed my gelato directly on top of the hot food! So when I took it out, it had completely melted. $10 for melted pistachio creamy soup, just what I wanted. You guys have to do better for your customers. I get the price increases but for what you are giving and the immense amount of lack of flavors...is wild. Save your money, drive a little bit further and eat some true Indian food in Irvine/Tustin cause this place is not it. The pictures posted are truly beautiful but pictures are not everything especially when it comes to food quality and flavor. I am only giving two stars bc the Mango Lassi and Garlic Naan were decent tasting.

From what I understand, Aria is the recent addition to the growing Persian Empire of the Super Irvine dynasty. The parents run the grocery store, the daughters run the excellent Irvine Grill restaurant, and Aria Kitchen is their latest experiment. While we didn't order any Mexican fusion food, there were some of those same flavors that really came through. The bone marrow comes with a delicious garlicky olive oil to drizzle on top. The oil has a bit of a kick to it--- chili, maybe? that evokes more of a Mexican flavor profile than an Iranian flavor profile. Some of their fresh Pita dipped in it? Life changing. We liked the kabob--- it's pretty good. However, we're spoiled by their sister restaurant, Irvine Grill. Irvine Grill still takes the crown for our favorite kabob. Aria is still a strong contender, though! The Asheh Reshteh is probably my favorite dish here (if we're talking appetizers, their bone marrow is by far one of the best apps I've had ever). It's hard to find good Asheh Reshteh, because it has to hit that balance of well-stewed but not mushy. This one was excellent. They gave us plenty of Kashk to put on top too! Where Aria shines is in its variety and consistent quality. The food is all fresh and delicious, and the flavor combo (while surprisingly not wholly uncommon----NorCal has a handful of similar Mexican-Iranian fusion spots) is so well-paired. There's a damn good reason that Samin Nosrat opted for Mexico for her show when for geopolitical reasons she was unable to film with Netflix in Iran. Both cuisines love their citrus. I can't wait to visit Aria Kitchen and dine in-restaurant!

Their menu supposedly marks items that contain gluten. One would assume the other items don't. But they have a soup with noodles - which is definitely made of wheat. They have samosas and quesadillas not marked as containing gluten, but are both made of flour. When we asked our server, he said only items with bread are marked as gluten because wheat is something some people consider gluten and others don't. This is 100% wrong. When we asked him to check with the kitchen, he walked up to the manger who simply shrugged his shoulders and sent him back with no new information. The server then just began walking away when we asked if an item was actually gluten-free (due to my allergy) and vegetarian (due to religious beliefs). He could not be bothered one bit. When we later asked the manager directly if he understands the concept of food allergies, he just shrugged his shoulders again and said: it's the responsibility of the customer not the restaurant. Well, I guess you're waiting to send a customer to the ER with false comfort and inaccurate information and only then will you understand your responsibility. Why bother then marking some items as containing gluten at all? I have not met such a jerk of a server in quite some time or such an aloof nonchalant manager. While the food was actually decent, this overall experience (after spending $120 on 3 entrees) is absolutely unacceptable. We left really disappointed at this attitude. Overall, service was horrible. The busboy kept trying to take our dishes away while we were still eating. My vegan friend got vegan cheese but my vegetarian friend who requested regular cheese was also given vegan cheese. No water refills even after requesting it. I can't believe any restaurant can survive with such horrible service. And clearly, our experience was not even an anomaly - so many others are complaining in their reviews about the bad service.

Premium combo = entree + $10 Entree + premium drink + masala fries I tried the bowl with mild biryani, malai chicken, green (mild) sauce, and guava mango lassi. The bowl already comes with the raita sauce (a yogurt sauce), so I got the green sauce as my choice of sauce after asking the staff for recommendations. The protein portion was super generous and very well-seasoned with their spice. The green sauce was my favorite and everything in the bowl mixed well together. The whole bowl was delicious and it didn't feel heavy, wasn't greasy. The Kashmiri Chai and the guava mango lassi are the most popular drinks, so I decided to try the guava mango lassi. The flavors blended so well. One wasn't more overpowering than the other, and the sweetness level was perfect for me, also, not too much ice. Masala fries So crispy and well-seasoned!! Could be a little less salty. Gulab jamun cheesecake Also asked for recommendations for their cheesecakes and decided to go with this one. It has the fried donut ball in the middle with syrup. It didn't taste too sweet to me, but I also have higher tolerance for sweets. The center has so much of the cheesecake cheese and it was super soft and fluffy. So delicious! The samosas were also great! Crispy and not too oily. I also love that they use compostable takeout containers, including the lid! The interior looks nice and there are a few seats available. There's outdoor shaded tables and seats too. The only downside is that I wish the outdoor seats were a bit cleaner. There is a free parking garage, just make sure to park in the retail spaces. There was enough parking. The staff members are so helpful and very friendly. Can order with a staff member or using their kiosk. HIGHLY recommend!! Would definitely go back!
