    Fire Tofu
    Iyanah N.

I tried Thai Bamboo Bistro for lunch and ordered the Fire Tofu lunch. The portion size was solid for a lunch meal and definitely filling. The rice was cooked really well, fluffy and fresh, and paired nicely with the tofu. That said, the salad on the plate felt more like a filler than a meaningful side. Compared to other similar Thai spots, you do get a bit less overall value. Many places include a small soup or appetizer with lunch, but there wasn't anything extra offered here. Service wasn't really there, aside from bringing your food to your table and the bill when you're finished, there isn't any follow up on how the meal actually tastes or if anything further is needed. Overall, the food itself was good and satisfying, but the lunch combo could be improved to better match what nearby establishments offer. I'd still come back, but there's room for a little more value.

    Pad woon sen

After reading some of the reviews, I was hesitant to try Thai Bamboo. I finally broke down and can say that it was better than I expected. Ordered a couple of lunch specials for takeout and when I arrived, I was surprised to see the restaurant was packed for lunch! The lunch specials come with a salad and the non-noodle lunches also include steamed rice. My veggie pad woon sen ($15) did not look like any pad woon sen that I've ever had. The noodles were much thicker and brown - as opposed to thin rice noodles that I'm used to. There wasn't much flavor to the dish either. The noodles for the pad see ew ($15) were much thinner than normal and the dish lacked that "wok hei" flavor that you get with a great pad see ew. On the positive side, the portions were generous. If I return, I'll try my luck with one of the curries.

This is not what I would say a go to Thai place. But if you have a craving for Thai and it's close then this place is satisfactory. I got the curry and it was solid and my coworker got the glass noodles which I snuck a bite and it was decent.

If you've been following my reviews here as a Yelp Elite Squad bugaboo, you know how I Iove trying out new places to see if they meet my 'G Spots for Your Next Date' list (G stands for 'Great', in case your minds are in the gutter folks hah!) SERVICE Excellent. Greeted us right in and my girlfriend happened to grab a great table where we had a little bit of privacy FOOD Loved my creamy coconut chicken dish. It came with rice but I really didn't need it cuz the dish was so tasty yet good enough to eat it like soup. (did I just say 'eat' your 's-o-u-p???) I have one request to the Business Owner. Can you add COKE ZERO SUGAR or PEPSI ZERO SUGAR to your list of Beverages? You'll make more sales especially from peeps like me, since replacing my good old regular sugar-riddled lemonade with Coke ZERO helped me lose 30 lbs! thank you for the applause! Haha PARKING Loved it. No need to walk down flights of stairs from poorly lit, grubby parking structures. You park your car right in front of the restaurant and you're good to go. AMBIANCE Would I recommend this for your next Date? I'm giving you a resounding YES! Cost effective enough for those of you on a budget, the place looks pretty decent inside. Love the modern, hanging pendants and the warm lighting doesn't cast a hint of wrinkled shadows under my eyes, so that comes in handy during your Date. Ladies, no need to wear your high heels here, super casual jeans and denim jackets work perfectly. Will I come ‍ back? You bet I would! See you soon!

The service was very good and so does the ambiance. Personally I thought the food were delicious however it's on the high end. The noodles was supposed to have eggs in it but I couldn't see any. Overall I enjoyed everything and would come back again.

Yummy spring rolls - hot, fresh & crisp
    Leigh P.

My friend & I came here after a long hike. We started with the spring rolls - which were absolutely delicious! Fresh, crisp & crunchy. I ordered the Massaman Curry - OHMYGOSH - it was so good! It was flavorful without being too spicy. It was a generous portion - which I finished the next day. I'm bringing my boyfriend here because he smelled my leftovers & was hurt that I wouldn't share (because it's that good)

    Chicken satay

We have lived in the area for years and have been coming from here for years. We did take out today. We are right away Unfortunately this was our most disappointing experience. The chicken satay was rubbery. The peanut sauce was good but nothing special. The pad Thai was mushy. Overcooked Basil beef. The favor was good but the beef was rubbery and tasted boiled and recooked. Hence 2 stars not 5. The red curry with chicken 3-4 stars. 5 star for being ready fast. Quick service. We could have ordered from DoorDash for the same price and had a better experience unfortunately. I know because even with the fees we would be at the same price with DoorDash pass.

Nice clean place, friendly staff, good foo, ample servings. The chicken Penang is not the best I've ever had but it's not bad. The Tom Yum soup is good.

    Ginger chicken

I was in the area and decided to get takeout and boy was it hugely disappointing. The coconut milk soup was really gritty and seemed like it was a powder that someone was too lazy to stir completely, it didn't taste good at all. I also got ginger chicken and it tasted like someone spilled a bag of sugar and a bottle of soy sauce over month old chicken. I had to throw it all away. The ginger didn't even have any ginger flavor whatsoever.

My office was desperate for a last-minute lunch place during the holidays. We weren't able to order online because of the size of the order so we took it in and where it helped right away. We pick the order up the next day for 11 people +2 appetizers. Each entrée had its individual name written on it along with the rice which made passing them out easy. The food was extremely well packaged. It had all of the condiments and utensils we needed. The female manager/server with dark hair was so friendly when we picked it up. I think she was happy to have our large order overall. I ordered the lemongrass chicken level five spicy with a side of white rice. Other people in my party ordered cashew vegetables, yellow curry, red curry spice level six, papaya salad, Thai fried rice, Tom Yum soup, and veggie and chicken spring rolls. All of the food was delicious. Very good portions. Very good value overall. We definitely will order again. I thought the food had overall good flavor good spice level etc. the meat dishes had plenty of chicken or beef. the basil tofu looked amazing. Overall, our office was also impressed. There is a small dining room plus outdoor seating.

While there are a few other spots in town that I would dub them supreme but for their offering, service, and ambiance, this is a great spot for business lunch, catch up, or family over delicious food. For this location, it is a bit small with limited seating. For large parties or families, you may have a longer wait time since tables need to be shuffled around. One of my favorite things to pair with our meal is their spice rack. If you are able to handle a bit of heat, ask for it and introduce the pickle chili to your dish. It elevates flavor with contrast quite well. Pad See Ew and Crab fried rice is what we ordered. The first visit had beef salad which paired great with the rest of the meal. Overall, stop by this location for good eats. FYI, parking can be tricky so be mindful about peak hours and carpool.

Show up right at evening opening to even have a chance at getting a table without waiting 1-2 hours. Struggle to find parking. Order food and it kind of takes forever. While waiting for our food, we almost always start to wonder if it's all worth it. And then every time, once the food arrives, that conversation gets dropped. We always order the Manaao Pork Jowl and Khao Soi with braised beef. We also typically order a noodle dish as well. As always, their Khao Soi is fantastic. The flavor is deep and the curry is rich. The beef is always cooked until it falls apart between your chopsticks. The one we were a bit unsure about was why they started to serve the pork jowl with no sauce on the side. We feel like when we first started ordering the dish, the sauce was lightly drizzled on top and served on the side in a small ramekin. Now, all of the sauce comes on top of the pork which seems to have made the dish a bit colder and less crispy. Still, the flavor is dialed, perfectly sweet and tangy. Their noodles are also always fantastic, perfectly cooked and seasoned. This visit we decided to try a new curry, and went with the Chu Chee Curry with Fried Catfish. This dish blew us away. We were immediately surprised by the generous portion of catfish, which seemed to be a full fried filet. At first, I felt like the batter may have been too thick for my liking. It seemed to be so thick and fried that it would taste crunchy rather than crispy if that makes sense. However, once coated in the curry sauce and enjoyed with the rice, the textures work together perfectly to maintain the crisp of the fry on the fish, which was cooked just right. The curry was light, which meant it didn't overpower the subtle flavor of the fish. We also ordered dessert for the first time off of the recommendation of a friend to try the rice balls in coconut milk with coconut ice cream. The flavor was amazing, and the texture of the rice balls (think mochi but more soft and tender rather than chewy) was very pleasant alongside the crunchy bits of fried mung bean. Our only gripe was that even by the time the dish reached our table, the ice cream was mostly melted. If anything, I feel like serving them separately would help maintain the temperatures, and enjoying them together in that way could create a more satisfying contrast. As always, Manaao is our favorite Thai spot in Orange County. I definitely recommend.

The presentation was beautiful. At first bite she dropped her fork and said "omg, mommy this is so good. It's the best!" My green curry was flavorful. I ordered it with pork. I thought they could've given a little more white rice but it does come with two egg rolls and a salad. All for $13.50! The crab fried was perfectly seasoned with a hint of sweetness. The rice wasn't mushy or anything. Just perfectly done. I thought the quality of the crab could be better, it was shredded in texture and tasted watered down. Maybe next time I'll just settle for the claw which is a little cheaper. All in one, it was a very good meal. We all enjoyed it very much!

Thai Cafe is a truly authentic Thai spot, so their food is actually spicy, which I really appreciate. What keeps me coming back is literally everything. They are beyond clean, have the best service, their prices are unmatched and, of course, their food is seriously the best. Everything is always fresh and consistent, and I always come hungry! The meats on all the dishes seemed to be par boiled before adding to the stir fry with very little seasoning. You get this rubbery texture when biting in to the beef chicken and squid. The pad kee mao tasted like it was cooked with some Lao ga ma chili oil more of a Chinese's take of the dish. Def taste the peppercorn from the sauce throwing off the authentic Thai flavors. Pineapple fried rice was lacking season... just taste like added curry powder with very seasoning to bring out the body of an original pineapple fried rice even a squeeze of lime didn't help... Also ordered the catfish which turned out to be some kind of random fish kinda had the texture of snake head. I asked the waitress "are you sure this is catfish" she answered back with the cook said it is. Clearly wasn't it had scales removed from the skin and tossed in oily sauce instead of the curry that was promised. Really disappointed... the only thing that was good was the water refills... food wasn't balanced either too salty or too bland. Isn't a fine dining experience but typical of a small restaurant. Safe to say I won't be coming back even if I visit OC again.
