    Pad woon sen
    Daph H.

After reading some of the reviews, I was hesitant to try Thai Bamboo. I finally broke down and can say that it was better than I expected. Ordered a couple of lunch specials for takeout and when I arrived, I was surprised to see the restaurant was packed for lunch! The lunch specials come with a salad and the non-noodle lunches also include steamed rice. My veggie pad woon sen ($15) did not look like any pad woon sen that I've ever had. The noodles were much thicker and brown - as opposed to thin rice noodles that I'm used to. There wasn't much flavor to the dish either. The noodles for the pad see ew ($15) were much thinner than normal and the dish lacked that "wok hei" flavor that you get with a great pad see ew. On the positive side, the portions were generous. If I return, I'll try my luck with one of the curries.

This is not what I would say a go to Thai place. But if you have a craving for Thai and it's close then this place is satisfactory. I got the curry and it was solid and my coworker got the glass noodles which I snuck a bite and it was decent.

If you've been following my reviews here as a Yelp Elite Squad bugaboo, you know how I Iove trying out new places to see if they meet my 'G Spots for Your Next Date' list (G stands for 'Great', in case your minds are in the gutter folks hah!) SERVICE Excellent. Greeted us right in and my girlfriend happened to grab a great table where we had a little bit of privacy FOOD Loved my creamy coconut chicken dish. It came with rice but I really didn't need it cuz the dish was so tasty yet good enough to eat it like soup. (did I just say 'eat' your 's-o-u-p???) I have one request to the Business Owner. Can you add COKE ZERO SUGAR or PEPSI ZERO SUGAR to your list of Beverages? You'll make more sales especially from peeps like me, since replacing my good old regular sugar-riddled lemonade with Coke ZERO helped me lose 30 lbs! thank you for the applause! Haha PARKING Loved it. No need to walk down flights of stairs from poorly lit, grubby parking structures. You park your car right in front of the restaurant and you're good to go. AMBIANCE Would I recommend this for your next Date? I'm giving you a resounding YES! Cost effective enough for those of you on a budget, the place looks pretty decent inside. Love the modern, hanging pendants and the warm lighting doesn't cast a hint of wrinkled shadows under my eyes, so that comes in handy during your Date. Ladies, no need to wear your high heels here, super casual jeans and denim jackets work perfectly. Will I come ‍ back? You bet I would! See you soon!

The service was very good and so does the ambiance. Personally I thought the food were delicious however it's on the high end. The noodles was supposed to have eggs in it but I couldn't see any. Overall I enjoyed everything and would come back again.

Yummy spring rolls - hot, fresh & crisp

My friend & I came here after a long hike. We started with the spring rolls - which were absolutely delicious! Fresh, crisp & crunchy. I ordered the Massaman Curry - OHMYGOSH - it was so good! It was flavorful without being too spicy. It was a generous portion - which I finished the next day. I'm bringing my boyfriend here because he smelled my leftovers & was hurt that I wouldn't share (because it's that good)

Nice clean place, friendly staff, good foo, ample servings. The chicken Penang is not the best I've ever had but it's not bad. The Tom Yum soup is good.

We have lived in the area for years and have been coming from here for years. We did take out today. We are right away Unfortunately this was our most disappointing experience. The chicken satay was rubbery. The peanut sauce was good but nothing special. The pad Thai was mushy. Overcooked Basil beef. The favor was good but the beef was rubbery and tasted boiled and recooked. Hence 2 stars not 5. The red curry with chicken 3-4 stars. 5 star for being ready fast. Quick service. We could have ordered from DoorDash for the same price and had a better experience unfortunately. I know because even with the fees we would be at the same price with DoorDash pass.

I was in the area and decided to get takeout and boy was it hugely disappointing. The coconut milk soup was really gritty and seemed like it was a powder that someone was too lazy to stir completely, it didn't taste good at all. I also got ginger chicken and it tasted like someone spilled a bag of sugar and a bottle of soy sauce over month old chicken. I had to throw it all away. The ginger didn't even have any ginger flavor whatsoever.

My office was desperate for a last-minute lunch place during the holidays. We weren't able to order online because of the size of the order so we took it in and where it helped right away. We pick the order up the next day for 11 people +2 appetizers. Each entrée had its individual name written on it along with the rice which made passing them out easy. The food was extremely well packaged. It had all of the condiments and utensils we needed. The female manager/server with dark hair was so friendly when we picked it up. I think she was happy to have our large order overall. I ordered the lemongrass chicken level five spicy with a side of white rice. Other people in my party ordered cashew vegetables, yellow curry, red curry spice level six, papaya salad, Thai fried rice, Tom Yum soup, and veggie and chicken spring rolls. All of the food was delicious. Very good portions. Very good value overall. We definitely will order again. I thought the food had overall good flavor good spice level etc. the meat dishes had plenty of chicken or beef. the basil tofu looked amazing. Overall, our office was also impressed. There is a small dining room plus outdoor seating.

Well, I guess it was bound to happen. While my food adventures in OC have largely been successful,…read moreit was inevitable that I'd end up coming across a place that so many folks like that just didn't hit the mark for me. However, I never would've thought that place was going to be Siam Station. After hearing good things about their spot in Cupertino/the Bay Area from several friends, it felt rather fortuitous when we randomly came across their original location - and with no line in sight! Inside, they've got a cozy sort of vibe and it's cool how they have some outdoor tables set-up as well. As for the menu, it didn't seem all that extensive at a glance, but it has all of the staples you'd expect to find among their appetizers, soups, salads, fried rice, stir fried noodles, noodle soups, curry dishes, entrees, and desserts. -- ZESTY WINGS - Deep Fried Chicken Wings Topped with Crispy Basil and Served with Chili Sauce Easily our favorite dish of the night. The wings were really crispy on the outside and oh so juicy on the inside. Even though there wasn't much of the sauce, which was flavorful but not that spicy, it was fine - the wings were still great without it. -- KHAO SOI with Chicken - Yellow Curry Broth with Egg Noodles and Chicken and Served with Red Onions, Lime, and Pickles Ehh...this was okay, I guess. On the plus side, the chicken was tender and I thought the broth was pretty good - not the best I've had, but better than most. That said, I didn't love the egg noodles, especially the crispy ones after they had soaked up the broth. -- PAD KEE MOW (Drunken Noodles) with Crispy Pork - Flat Rice Noodles Stir Fried with Spicy Basil Garlic Sauce, Bell Peppers, Tomato, Sweet Onion, and Thai Basil I was super excited for this, but it was disappointing. The first thing we noticed was how pale it was and, sadly, the taste matched. Whether it be their garlic sauce or some chilis, this needed more. As for the pork, it was definitely crispy, but a few pieces bordered on dry/burnt. -- MANGO STICKY RICE A little hit, a little miss. The mango was fine (decently sweet, soft), but the sticky rice left us a little wanting. Mainly, I didn't love the glob of coconut cream, was it was pretty thick and viscous, which gave the rice a weird texture/coating to it. As far as service goes, it was uneventfully good. Although there was one point where it was hard to hail someone, it was mostly because the restaurant got increasingly busy and one of the servers was trying to help a group sort something out with their order. Otherwise, our food came out relatively quick and the workers were rather efficient with everything. Despite how we left feeling bummed out by our experience, it had more to do with being underwhelmed than the food actually being "bad". Admittedly, we came in with high hopes/expectations from all of the hype we had heard and it probably didn't help that we had gone to Manaao the night before, which is one of my favorite Thai restaurants anywhere. What's more, I wonder if we just didn't get the best that Siam Station has to offer. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to coming back to find out (and potentially writing an update), but perhaps I'll just try my luck at their spot in Cupertino that my friends like so much.

Almost like the Cheers bar in MA where everybody knows your name. Kinda nice actually. What we ordered: 1) pad see ew with crispy pork - 5/5. The kids loved this so much we needed up having to order two. 2) garlic salmon - 4/5. Served over a bed of veggies. This one was à la cart so we had to order a side of rice. It's enough for one person. This was covered with garlicky goodness. My son was wanting more. 3) Panang curry - 5/5. Not pictured here. One of our guests started to devour that dish before I could even take a photo. Sadly, they weren't familiar with me wanting to take a picture. The kids were like "oh no. The staff was friendly and quickly greeted and guided me to my reserved table. The space was cozy and warm while having a minimalist vibe, but still had that small business owner feel to it. The menu had so many food options, more than some of the other thai spots around in OC. Here, you'll find some more rare dishes besides your more common and popular noodle and curry dishes. Dishes we ordered: - Crab Noodles: this was probably the most popular one for the table! Amount of crab was pretty good for the value and noodles were perfectly sweet and savory with the fried egg. Would definitely order this again! - Panang Curry with Chicken: this was also probably one of the best panang that I've had! The chicken was also very tender. Medium heat was the perfect amount of space that packed flavor with just the right kick to it. - Creamy Udon in Tom Yum Soup: just a little mild for those who don't want anything too spicy. While the crispy pork had good flavor, the pieces were a bit hard to chew. - Pad Thai: not usually my go-to dish because it's more sweet than savory, but this dish was pretty good. - Egg Rolls: perfect to share as an appetizer! Filling was well seasoned and rolls were lightly fried for a good crispy texture. With so many popular thai spots around OC, it can be tricky finding one that checks all the marks, but this one might have it all! Now I just need to make sure to save stomach space to try their mango sticky rice...

I had been eyeing a few others too, but the long waits always scared me off Parking was easy with a good amount of spaces outside, and the wait was only about 5 minutes around 7:15 PM, which was a pleasant surprise. The inside ambience was modern, trendy, and really cute... although we were seated toward the back, which didn't feel quite as nice as the front dining area. Now onto the important part... the food Holy basil Wagyu beef - $22.99 | 4/10 This was unfortunately the biggest letdown of the night. I had read another review saying it wasn't their favorite, but still wanted to try it because my hubby loves pad kra pow and this seemed somewhat similar. Sadly... it missed the mark for us. The rice was very dry, the wagyu mince was dry and overly salty, and overall it was our least favorite dish of the night. Honestly one of the more disappointing Thai dishes I've had in a while. Would personally skip unless dry rice and salty minced beef is your thing. Papaya Salad + Soft Shell Crab - $18.99 + $2 | 8/10 This one was super tasty. We chose medium spice, and it had just the right kick. Great balance of sour, sweet, savory, crunch, and freshness with the papaya, carrots, peanuts, and dressing all working really well together. Definitely one of our favorites. Pad See Ew with Beef - $16.99 + $2 beef | 8/10 Really enjoyed this one. The standout was definitely the beef -- incredibly tender, probably some of the softest beef I've had in a Thai noodle dish. The noodles were flavorful, the veggies were cooked nicely, and overall just a very satisfying plate. Crispy Spicy Catfish - $20.99 | 8/10 Another favorite. Loved the crispy texture of the catfish with the sweet-spicy sauce. The bell peppers balanced it nicely, and I also loved those little peppercorn stems mixed in -- added a really fun flavor and texture. Very flavorful dish overall. Fried Calamari - $12.99 | 6/10 This one was just okay. Hubby and I always order calamari when we see it on a menu because we love comparing them from place to place, but this one came out pretty cold and didn't taste fresh out of the fryer. Could've skipped this one and not missed much. Overall: Service was very friendly and welcoming all night -- our servers were kind, attentive, and honestly probably what pushed the experience higher for us. for service. Food-wise, we enjoyed 3 out of the 5 dishes, so overall I'd personally land around 3/5 stars. A solid spot to try if you're in the area and wanting Thai food, especially if you're craving papaya salad, pad see ew, or catfish. Not sure it's somewhere I'd specifically drive out to Tustin for again, but I'm glad we gave it a try. Happy eats!

I ordered the Khao Soi Fried Rice and the Khao Soi, both with the spicy pork Thai sausage. The Khao Soi Fried Rice was easily a 10/10. It somehow tasted exactly like khao soi noodles but in fried rice form. They really captured the flavor of the dish perfectly, and the mix of textures from the crispy and softer elements made every bite great. The spicy pork Thai sausage was another 10/10. It had a ton of flavor, was noticeably better than the Thai sausage I've had at other Thai restaurants, and stayed juicy without being dry. The Khao Soi itself was a solid 9/10. The broth was rich, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for. My only minor preference would be slightly thicker noodles with a bit more chew, but that's completely personal taste and not really a knock on the dish. We got the combination fried rice, pad thai with crispy pork, pineapple curry with chicken. Combination Fried Rice- The rice had a nice garlicky taste and it was loaded with pork, beef, chicken, and shrimp. Perfectly seasoned too. Pad Thai with Crispy Pork- The noodles were soft and chewy and the sauce was a lovely combination of sweet and tangy. The crispy pork added a later of texture and flavor. Pineapple Curry with Chicken- The curry was bursting with flavor! The pineapple chunks added a burst of sweetness and freshness to every bite. The chicken was nice and tender. Great meal overall!

Everything we ordered was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. The spices, freshness, and balance in the dishes were spot on. Each bite was satisfying and full of that bold, crave-worthy Thai taste. While the curry wasn't my personal favorite (the veggies were a bit undercooked for my taste), everything else more than made up for it. From the appetizers to the stir fry, everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Service was friendly and quick, and the owner/chef is always welcoming. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves Thai food. You can really taste the quality and heart in every dish!

Such an underrated gem! My parents, sister, and I have been going here since I was really young! A…read moremust-try for when you're in the area! Food: Our favorites here are the Tom Yum soup, pad thai, yellow curry, fried rice, and lastly, the mango sticky rice. The Tom Yum soup comes in a pot with a fire on the bottom, so it's warm and comforting! The pad thai and fried rice are generous in quantity, so you'll have leftovers for sure! The yellow curry comes with rice and has a coconut base if you're a fan of coconut. Lastly, the mango sticky rice is so good because the sticky rice is covered with this coconut cream. It is pretty sweet, but a must-try! Service: The same waiters are here, as this is a small business. They are so nice! You can also ask them to bring their assortment of chilis for your food, and you can put these in the soup and other dishes for them to be slightly spicier! The food takes a little while to come, but it's because of how fresh it is! Ambiance: This is a small restaurant with a few Thai paintings and a few sofa booths. It's so cozy, and the bathroom is clean! Please try this place if you're in the area! They are not on DoorDash or Uber Eats (yet), so please stop by and enjoy the amazing food!

Some restaurants you try once. Some you like for a season…read more And then there are the rare ones that quietly become part of your life. Thai Cafe falls into that last category for me. I've been coming here for over 10 years, and that alone says more than any rating ever could. In a world where places change recipes, cut corners, or slowly fade, Thai Cafe has stayed exactly what it has always been consistent, authentic, and deeply comforting. It's not just a restaurant anymore, it's a tradition. My two constants: the Chicken Cashew and the Thai Basil Chicken (very little veggies, the way I always order it). Somehow, year after year, they taste exactly how your memory hopes they will. The chicken is always tender, never dry, coated in sauces that hit that perfect balance of savory, slightly sweet, and aromatic. The cashew dish has that warm, nutty richness that feels like a complete meal by itself, while the Thai basil carries that unmistakable garlic chili fragrance that instantly tells your brain: you're in the right place. And yes -- they get busy. Really busy. The wait times can absolutely get out of hand sometimes. But honestly, that almost proves the point. You don't see crowds form around ordinary food. You see them around places people trust. Places families return to. Places that have earned patience. Because when the plate finally arrives, the wait disappears. First bite, and you remember why you keep coming back after a decade. Thai Cafe is the definition of a true family owned restaurant not flashy, not trendy, just honest cooking made the same way every time, by people who clearly care about what leaves their kitchen. Some restaurants feed you for a night. This one has fed memories for years. Ten years later and it still feels like home on a plate.
