Finding a trust worthy mechanic is hard to find. I have zero car knowledge. I took it to get an oil change at jiffy lube; they tried to upsell me hard. Said my belts needed to be replaced now and water pump was almost done. My estimate was $1700 (mind you I was going in for just a $25 oil change) so I decided to get another opinion locally and found Independent Auto. Omid is the owner and sole employee. So, what a honest amazing mechanic. I told him what they told me and he laughed. My belts were completely fine and my water pump had at least another 80,000 miles. He didn't charge me ANYTHING! He could have just pretended they were right and got me for $1000...80% of mechanics in that spot would have screwed me. He said I owed him nothing but I was so grateful I gave him $60. He was so thankful. This was 4 years ago and have been recommending friends and family sever since. He's saved my butt countless times. Omid, is so helpful. My car was having this weird issue of all my lights on my car flashing/pulsing. I mean running lights, head/tail lights, stereo light, just everything that lit up would strope. It wouldn't do it everytime or right away. It was the weirdest thing ever. It came to the point of me no longer being able drive the car without people thinking i'm flashing them. I brought the car to Omid and said figure it out. Drive it around, whatever you need to do. He call me and had a few options of what it could be and Also let me know of a few other things he noticed that need attention but nothing that was needed right away. Just coming up or soon, which is nice that he looks at everything. Anyways he fixed my issue of the lights and also got an oil change and was on my way. What's the hardest thing to find when it comes to auto repair? In my opinion, it's an honest mechanic. Had 2 great experiences with Independent Auto, that I feel are Yelp worthy. First was a check engine light that came on. Came back as a transmission issue so I left it in the hands of Omid to diagnose and fix the problem. Calls me and hour later and says it's just a sensor. Less than 200$ to fix. What a relief! I was ready to shell out hundreds to get my work truck back up and running! About a year later I thought I need new back brakes due to squeaking sound... left the truck there in the morning, and he called me shortly after saying, " they're just dirty, I'll clean em for you." Charged me a half hour of labor, and I had him change the oil since it was already in his shop. This dude is legit. He's honest and super reasonable when it comes to hourly rate. I have been taking my cars (I've had a lot of them over the years) to different shops in the area. I had one shop I was very comfortable with for a long while till one day my car broke down out of town, I brought it to a local shop in Nevada and they said that the fuel pump went out and replaced. Once I got home I went through my receipts and saw that the shop I was taking my car to had supposedly changed the pump 2 months prior, but once I called the shop and Nevada they said that here was no possible way the other shop had replaced the pump. Instead of babbling for hours I'll get straight to the point, I was shocked that my supposed trusted mechanic was screwing me over, surprise surprise. Now about independent auto service I was doing the drive down auto mechanic row and saw independent auto service and it was very clean and looked like a nice setup. I pulled my car in and started chatting with Omid the owner. I told him of my troubles and he said let's go ahead and put my car up on the lift right then and here and take a look. He spent about 1 hr going over my car, as I'm sitting there thinking great here comes the pitch about how my car needs a complete open heart surgery, Surpise he explained that everything was in good shape and told me of parts that seemed to be a little worn out but not necessary needing replacement immediately. I will stop my babbling and tell you, Omid it's extremely honest and a true pleasure to work with, I'm so thankful I found him and highly recommend you to his shop. Great place to get your car fix and done right. I was changing my oil and could not get a cap off to access the oil filter. So I drove up monument til I spotted this shop. I asked the guy can he at least break the seal so I can finish the job. 1st he said yea but I'll have to charge you. Well I didn't want to do that so I thanked him and began to walk out when he stop me and agreed to help. He broke the seal with ease and when I got home I was able to finish the job. A week later, on a different car, I needed repair that was out of my league and sure enough, I took it to this shop. Quoted me a great price and had my truck done the next day! I will be bringing my tuck back here for other repairs & I strongly recommend this shop to any & everyone who needs their vehicle fixed & done right. read more
