My parents brought their cars here for literal decades so as an adult it's usually my first call. When it wasn't my first call, it ended up being my second call so that Rick could correct someone else's work. I've had every repair under the sun done here and it's always quality work. As a woman, it sucks to feel like you have a "big dummy!" sign on your head at every oil change place, mechanic, and tire shop. The truth is, I am a big dummy but Rick has never treated me as such, he never tries to upsell me and lets me know if work needs to be done immediately or if it can wait til my next paycheck. Always upfront and honest about the cost and procedure before they go forward with the work. Bonus: I don't think he's ever kept my car more than a day even when his lot is full. I am so glad that I found this auto service. I did some calling around as I needed to have some front end work done on my 2003 Chevy Tahoe. Wasn't exactly sure what I needed but had a feeling it was going to be bushings and potentially front shocks. I brought my car in to have an estimate of what would need to be done which they said is free!! I was informed me a couple things that needed to be replaced. I immediately got the feeling that they really knew their business and know American vehicles very well. I ended up having them do the work and wow my car drives like a brand new Tahoe now! Additionally the price was extremely reasonable, not to mention they got it all done in an afternoon. They are very professional, have a great customer service and a top that off a wonderfully friendly Bernese Mountain dog that will greet you. Highly recommended. read more

We have had our car in a couple different shops for the same problems. We would be told the issues was fixed and yet it would return. We looked up El Monte Auto Service and liked the reviews it received. Within an hour of dropping off the car, we received a call to talk about what they found. They also mentioned a few other items of concern and told us what they were going to do to investigate. A few hours later they called again telling us exactly what the other issues were and gave us a very reasonable quote. They fixed the issue once and for all. Loved their constant communication, simple explanations and reasonable pricing. Will DEFINITELY use again!!! read more

I have only good experiences at El Monte. I've had a variety of maintenance and general repair items taken care of at El Monte on 4 different vehicles and my trailer over the past 7 years or so and have no complaints. They always give you a honest and accurate diagnosis and complete the work on time at a very fair price. They've worked on my Audi A4, Ford F150, Nissan Quest, and GMC Yukon XL with good results. I also take my mother in law's Jeep Cherokee there. I would definitely recommend trying El Monte for your auto service needs. read more

Rick and El Monte is awesome. They always do a great job, even though I really only use them for oil changes and annual car maintenance. They are honest and do a thorough job. One time I saw some oil leaking on the driveway after parking my car... Rick told me the last place I took my car for an oil change didn't tighten the cap all the way. So from now on, I take my car to El Monte on a regular basis! It may be a tad more expensive than Jiffy Lube, but they are much nicer and I trust them to do a better job. read more

I can't say enough about this place - they are wonderful. It's so hard to find a good, honest mechanic, especially as a woman. If my man is too busy to help fix my car I take it straight to El Monte, especially for difficult, time-consuming jobs! I took it in this morning, about 8 AM. Guy at the front (I want to say his name was Mike?) told me he'd call me later on with the estimate. A mere TEN MINUTES later he told me everything they were going to do and gave me an estimate. They had to replace the radiator, upper and lower radiator hoses, and thermostat. By mid-day they called me and said my car was ready to go! Talk about efficient service. The total $ was right on what they gave me as an estimate. I will never go anywhere else. :) read more

I had been going to two different places for years. I took my general repairs to Mekatron and my brake repairs to A-1 Brake in Walnut Creek. Mekatron did a fine job but they were starting to seem a little pricey and at times I was wondering, with their "scheduled model" that maybe they were doing some things that weren't necessary. Also, when I had a german car for a while, Mekatron refused to work on it. They are a Japanese-only shop. So, after hearing good things about El Monte from more than one friend, I gave them a try and I haven't turned back. I use him for general repairs, brakes and maintenance. I really had no complaints with A-1, but couldn't resist the convenience of having all of my needs met at one shop. There hasn't been anything that Rick hasn't been able to handle. He is an excellent diagnostician. He's been in the business for 30+ years and is invested in the community. That was why I did business with the other two shops and that is why I am doing business here. I highly recommend El Monte Auto Service. read more

I went to this shop thinking I would get a good deal on changing my water pump on my 2009 Toyota Camry. Rick (owner of the shop) said it will cost me total $397. First, I thought it was a good deal TILL I went to another shop in Concord who told me it was cost $80 for parts and $120 for labor. I saved almost $200 from not going to this shop. Stay away, call around, you will get a better deal elsewhere. read more
