The meal was great and was served very fast. The aloo samosa was amazing. I liked their tamarind sauce and mango lassi a lot as well.

Went at 11:30 for a quick lunch on my lunch break from work. The place opens at 11 - nothing was set out. It took another 15 minutes for any food to be placed out which was all the meat dishes (veg here). When the veg dishes finally got out they tasted horrible. Plus, the carrots and potatoes were not cooked at all - raw potatoes will make people sick. Waste of money never going there again. There are better Indian food options in Tucson that taste better and don't waste my time. read more

The food tastes ok, but the customer service is pretty terrible. Called to place an order for pickup. According to the website, the total should have been $43.80. While ordering, I was asked if I wanted rice with my entrees and told that it was not included so I added orders of rice to each entree (the rice tasted like tap water and cigarettes and I didn't eat it anyway). My boyfriend picked up the order, paid them $60.00, and after showing confusion about not receiving change, he was mocked on the way out by the cashier who helped him. Rude! read more

From the time my group arrived until we left, our dining experience was sheer Nirvana! The aroma, the ambiance of East Indian decor, and gracious hostessing was a pleasure. The lunch buffet, under $8.00, included a wide variety of vegetarian and meat dishes were served. Spicey Baked Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Curried Peas and Potatoes, Curried Lamb, Naan Bread, Basmati Rice graced lightly with carrots and spices, and Sweet Potato Samosas were just some of the main dishes. Dessert included Gulab Jamun, Kheer, and cold watermelon slices to cool the palette after such a delightful fare. My Nepali students, teacher's aide, and I felt welcomed as family by the hostess and owner. My husband and I love this place! The food is wonderful and comes in both spicy and mild for our opposing tastes. The hostess is a wonderful woman who greets us with a smile while her husband is cooking in the back. My husband is a vegitarian and I am not but there are plenty of choices for both of us and they do to go orders as well for those nights we have to eat and run. read more

Pretty nice place to get some decent Indian food. If you go for lunch you can either do the buffet or order off the menu. The menu has an extensive amount of choices so there's always something new to try! You can always order it for the level of spice you'd like: mild, medium, or hot. The buffet tends to be on the mild side, since so many different people are eating it and it's the "safest" option. The service is okay-- not great but not bad. I love that the woman who owns the restaurant works here pretty much everyday. She's nice and friendly and you can tell she really works hard with her restaurant. The decor inside is very lovely and has lots of pretty things to look at. Parking in the front is limited but there's a big lot behind the building available as well. Not the best atmosphere ever but the food makes up for it. Service was decent. I didn't think that the food was greasy like other reviewers commented but both my husband and I had vegetarian dishes. Portion sizes are big enough to take home a lot of food. I haven't found Indian food in Tucson that lives up to Chicago but this satisfied my cravings. I will be returning. read more

This place is just fabulous!!! When we came we were immediately attended and given a table. They have amazing service and you're never left waiting at a table for an eternity. We frequently eat Indian in our travels as well as having spent five years in India. Criticism of this restaurant is valid. Our aloo-gobi (potatoes/cauliflower) was lukewarm and tasted like a "leftover"... mushy and lacking in flavor. My wife's dish of mattar-paneer was no better in flavor. I enjoy good mango pickles (achar) but we got the most awful excuse for this dish with a soft, gray mess that you feared for your health. Our server was a nice, young person cowed by what seemed to be the imperious owner who managed in an unfriendly way. There were mistakes in our order and the servers hadn't a clue about menu choices. My wife and I just moved to Tucson from New York City and the food at India Oven rivals some of the best Indian places in Manhattan and Queens. We came for dinner and had the chicken vindaloo and lamb korma. Both were outstanding, as was the naan. And at about $9/meal, the prices were very reasonable. This was my first time eating at this restaurant. When we got there it was completely vacant, no diners inside. It was 6pm dinner time. To me that is a potential indication that the restaurant is doing just ok. Since I love Indian food, I still dined anyway. Overall the food was nothing to write home about. It tasted like it had been sitting out for too long. So it was dry and grainy. The rice was ok, I guess you can't go wrong with rice. The naan bread I ordered was dry and the portion size is not what I expected. It was just one slab of dough that was flattened, it didn't seem like there was any care into the making of the dough. I really don't have such a poor experience at Indian restaurants but this was one I do feel I should share with anyone that would like to dine there. Overall, the price was too high for the portions I had and the service was great considering. The people working were very nice. read more

We are always treated like family by the owner (one day we came in, and she was teaching a young woman how to wear a sari), and the food never fails to please (saag paneer, Tika masala and anything curry). Recent move from Phoenix and we're looking for good Indian food. Gotta keep looking. Tried the buffet, limited selection, no labels so you don't know what kind of meat, what is veg, etc. Taste is OK, nothing special, but the texture is wierd, everything has a kinda pureed texture reminiscent of baby food. Tandoori chicken WAY overcooked. "Nan" was on buffet, it was like tough cracker bread. The samosas however, were 5*. No spoons in sight, no tiny bowls for kheer pudding (which was oversweetened anyway). Not the cleanest establishment either, really wanted to like it because the location is convenient. Surely there is better Indian cuisine in the Old Pueblo, hope to find it. read more

So, after returning here after a long absence, I tried take out. l ordered the lamb tikka and an eggplant dish and some daal. l asked the cook to do it non spicy. She said she would. She didnt and both dishes were spicy. The lamb was over cooked and very dry and burnt . I recommend against this place. read more

Right when I walked in I was welcomed very warmly. The atmosphere was very soothing and the food smelt amazing. Unsure of whether I was going to stay and eat or get Brushfire, the woman said, "All you can eat buffet for 8 (something)." Oh my goodness, every food she introduced me to looked more delicious than the last. Loving that there were foods that if I wanted to would be full I could eat and if I wanted to eat light I could as well. Now the taste. Even better than the smells, I was hooked, eating a mostly vegetarian diet I was thrilled with the variety. But I also decided to give everything a try, and cheat a little. There lamb dish on the buffet was so flavorful and tender, im considering cheating a little bit more. Do yourself a service and visit this restaurant. I will continue. read more
