Thanks to the other place that was closed on Sunday, we ended up here. We were not disappointed though and enjoyed everything we ordered. I would like to add that the staff were really amazing. They were really friendly and helpful with the menu and spices. We started with the Garlic Naan and Samosas. I have to have Samosas every time I go to an Indian restaurant because they are delicious, in my opinion. They were also the biggest Samosas I've ever seen or eaten and they were only $3.99, I think? Anyhoot, the Garlic Naan was really good too. They were a bit thinner than what I usually get but that didn't bother me because they were seasoned so perfectly that I loved it. Chicken tikka masala.. I'm sure many of you would agree that this entree is always the safe thing to order like how at a Thai restaurant, Pad Thai is always the safe dish to order. This is when I'm grateful at how amazing their staff was. Our server, who also did a lot of everything else, asked me what spice level I wanted. There was hot, indian hot, or extra spicy. I've honestly never been asked for spice level in an indian restaurant so she asked if I wanted to sample Indian hot. I did and she brought me a sample and it was a perfect spice. To compare, way spicier than hot cheetos so if hot cheetos is spicy for you, stick to regualr hot. I think I could've gone extra spicy but I was sharing the dish with the bf so Indian hot it was. It was definitely delicious! The boyfriend ordered the Lamb something. I don't believe it was tikka masala, as if I know the difference, but it was good. It wasn't chicken indian hot tikka masala good but it was still good. The lamb was tender and chewy and still all very flavorful. This place is definitely a great place for Indian food. read more

We just tried this restaurant for the first time .We were so excited to see it had replaced the "so/so Pho"when we recently came back to town. I give 5 stars because this place is exceptional, especially considering its Midwest" mall "area location . Traditionally dressed , but well spoken and easy to understand ,she had great suggestions.Like starting with a TajMahal beer --- big enough for Two ! As it was our first visit , we got the mixed appetizer platter . We liked everything except the fried " chicken fingers " on it . They weren't terrible --- they just did not belong there . They had no " indian " flavor -- just boring ol chicken fingers , meh . That was the ONLY "bad" thing tho. The samosa& pakoras were great . We also got the mixed tandoori grill Platter to share Great Choice !The Lamb was the " star " so tender & juicy -- it's hard to find well prepared lamb ! Also various types of grilled chicken. I had to ask for the yogurt sauce that usually comes with tandoori dishes . They did give me some( no extra charge)and it really enhances tandoori ( ask for some)And you also get to select any chicken dish to go with it . We thought this was a great VALUE. We chose a masala curry and loved it . I think the platter was $22 bucks for everything including the curry dish. Not bad for an exotic meal for Two . The rice was perfect Basamati ! And they did not charge " extra" for it . We appreciated that ! A curry dish should include rice ,,, otherwise it would be "Soup". And then there's the bread !!! Fresh baked Naan . The real deal ! Delicious Indian food and a super nice staff that provides good service, what more could you ask for? We have eaten in many times in the past and have also ordered to-go and our order was always correct and tasted great! Don't be fooled by the size of the dish when it comes out - at first, it looks smallish - but it's packed with flavor and as you spoon it out on the rice, you'll find yourself asking for a to-go container about halfway through. What a surprise. In the middle of Minnesota, such a wonderful restaurant. I came because someone else said they got gobi Manchurian. I tried to order vegetable manchurian but the chef offered vegetable balls made manchurian style. I also saw where someone said that they don't know spice here. I had the Indian Palace Vegetarian Dinner (perfect for two). It was a good mix of a curry sauce, cheese bites and chick peas. Also comes with the obligatory naan bread (many varieties to choose from). The service was a bit confused, and the servers seemed disjointed. However the food made up for the confused and somewhat slow service. We've been to India Palace countless times for lunch, dinner and takeaway. Never a bit of disappointment. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes have all been delicious and authentic. If I had to choose one thing for improvement, it's that I wish they had more promotions to remind us to come in more often. Percent off, dollar off, free naan, free soft drink -- I don't care what it is, really, as long as it gives that extra incentive to visit. More regular reminders that they exist would get us in there at least once a month. Not knocking their rating for that as it deserves all five stars, but hoping to provide constructive feedback that will help grow the business. read more

The food here is some of the most flavorful food you may have ever eaten. The lamb karahi was packed with spices and the meat was juicy. One thing to stray away from is the chicken pakora. They were basically chicken strips with no real authenticity. The chicken samosas were on the other hand a treat. Served with a mint chutney it was very delicious. If I could rate this food more than five stars, I would! We've eaten inside the restaurant (prior to quarantine) and were impressed with the service, food, and atmosphere. Last night we ordered takeout for six. We live about 35 minutes from Mankato so I expected to need to reheat our meals. I didn't. The entrees were still hot and delicious. The Naan bread is better fresh, but was still good. The servings are generous and we reheated the leftovers tonight. The Naan bread heated beautifully on a griddle with a little butter and olive oil and the entrees were as good as last night. I've had Chicken Tikka Masala two nights in a row and would happily eat it again tomorrow!! We highly recommend India Palace! read more

Indian food in Mankato? Indian food in Mankato that's delicious?! No way! -- That was my thought when someone first told me about this place. I come from a large city and I didn't believe that ethnic food in small town MN could actually be as good as what you'd find in a larger, more diverse community. Boy, was I wrong. I've been here four times and each time has been wonderful. First, the people are lovely and very kind. Service is great, and they definitely portray that they care about your experience and your meal. Second, the menu has a lot of options. From different types of naan to various meats and preparation methods, you're going to find something you like. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well. My personal favorite (so far) is the lamb sabzi but I've also had chicken tikka masala and chicken tandoori which were excellent. They will give you more rice if you need it (and who doesn't need more rice when you're eating Indian food!). The naan is also excellent - I've had butter naan and garlic naan. They have filled options, but I haven't eaten those yet. I have not done take out or delivery from here, only dine-in, so I can't speak to that part of it. I have two reasons for four stars - 1. I wish they had a lunch buffet. I work in Mankato, and I definitely think we would use this as a dining-out option for lunch. 2. I wish they had more options for spice. Right now, the only levels are mild, medium, or hot. I usually go with medium or hot, depending on my mood. What I really want is something between a medium or hot. I'm used to Indian restaurants having more of a number system, and I want a 4/5 or an 8/10. That doesn't always translate into either "medium" or "hot." ^^ These are both SUPER picky reasons. I absolutely LOVE this restaurant and will come back many many times. read more

We returned to India Palace for lunch around 2pm on an Saturday, and this experience was much improved over our last. We were immediately seated and our drink order was quickly returned to the table, our waitress was attentive and kept our waters topped off, and our food arrived promptly. The food itself remains the star of the show, with rich and delicious flavors. We ordered the Channa Masala (garbanzo beans in a curry sauce), Malai Kofta (veggie dumplings in a rich korma-like sauce), and Chicken Sabzi (chicken cooked with spiced veggies). The Channa Masala was exactly what I expected, a big serving of wonderfully-spiced garbanzos. Gold star for this one. That said, I'm still not ready to give India Palace a fifth star. I feel their food prices are still too high for what we receive. We were only served two Koftas swimming in a sea of (admittedly tasty) sauce and the Sabzi contained too little chicken (I'd guess less than three ounces). For dishes costing $10 and $13 (respectively) I expect to receive enough of the main ingredient to make the dish filling. Their service has improved, and for that I am grateful, but we're still not happy to pay India Palace's prices for the meager portions of food we receive. read more

This place is a solid Indian restaurant especially (dare I say it) for Mankato! :) I have eaten a lot of good Indian food growing up in the UK and good Indian places seem hard to find in the US. This one is worth a try, we got takeout but the restaurant also looked nice as we peeked in when we grabbed our order. Unfortunately the mint chutney seemed to be from a can and was not fresh. The pakoras and the palak paneer were good. Diversity in a small City! Yes, that's what I love. India Palace has everything Indian and filled with taste and perfect blend of Spice. They will ask you how you prefer, mild or hot! I am a huge fan of paneer cheese, butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala . Not being able to decide we ordered it all. Indian food makes great leftovers. The Spices set in longer.
