I was in Mankato for work and found this place through yelp. Once again I wasn't disappointed! I ordered the 1/2 order of chicken tandoori for $8.99 which is more than enough food for your average person (4 drumsticks and rice). It was spicy and delicious. I was sad to see Pho Saigon closed. It was an oasis in a city of sports bars, cheese curds, and Five Dollar Footlongs. So you can imagine my relief when Pho Saigon was replaced by an Indian joint instead of another Subway or Mankato's twentieth cookie-cutter "Chinese" restaurant. Rant aside, India Palace is fantastic. The crew is super friendly and the food is on point. The menu may seem intimidating at first. Fear not, the staff is extra helpful and the menu is loaded with excellent choices that are all unique to the Mankato area. Check it out if you're feeling adventurous! I LOVE THIS PLACE! I never had Indian food before, but a friend convinced me to try it out, and man am I glad I did. I've been here 3 times and I always get the spicy chicken josh with extra rice. It's so flavorful and spicy(which is hard to find in Mankato). It reminds me of island food but with a different twist. The people here are very friendly and helpful. Unless Mankato, MN has a 16% sales tax, the staff rang me up wrong or helped themselves to a tip on my take-out order. He was friendly about it though. Unlikely to return. I was a little nervous about eating here but our family was traveling across the state to meet for dinner in Mankato and my brother suggested the Indian Palace. I must admit that I really enjoyed it. I had the Chicken Biryani. It was pleasantly spicy. We ordered sampler plates for appetizers and enjoyed everything. The restaurant was very clean. The staff was pleasant and attentive. I love diversity in restaurants for Mankato and the Indian palace is a welcome addition! The service was good, the food was great, I had the lamb vindaloo and samosas..yum! My one issue was the servings were small compared to the big price. I'm not expecting an American size portion because I shared the one serving with my son but for $13.00 I really expect more than four small pieces of lamb. Plus I paid extra for the naan bread. This place will be a treat every now and then but too costly to make it a regular stop:( read more

First off, I want to state that there is unlimited rice. The Sabzi (Shrimp) was super tasty and there is enough for you to share it with two people. THE NAAN IS AMAZING, I would recommend getting the butter or garlic (or onion, I forgot). There is also a vegetarian menu for those of you who can't eat meat. Terrible Experience. First experience. they missed an item that I ordered and charged me for it. Asked me to come back and din't even apologize. Second experience, I ordered an onion naan and for some reason the guy who took my order heard it paneer naan. When I reached there, he very rudely said that it was the paneer naan I ordered. He was not courteous at all and looked angry. I did not say much and left there with paneer naan although this was not what I ordered. Quantity is also less for the price and food is ok.
