I love Indian food so was happy to find this place today. The place was very clean and was greeted by friendly staff. They had a buffet set up for lunch. It was nice to be able to try a bunch of different things. I liked almost everything. I did feel some of the food could use some more spice but I understand they keep it more basic for a buffet. This place has so much potential: A large comfortable dining area complimented by lovely deccor and a functioning attentive staff. It is a shame the food cannot rise to expectation. I believe in the past five years indian restaurants have become impossible to make a profit without cutting steeply into quality and, therefore, palatiblity of the crusine. I lived in India for several years and never in my time there have I've eaten sweet spinach. Why do restaurants have to sweeten vegetables? It is an inexpensive way to preserve the life of a dish. But is ghastly to eat. I had hope for this restaurant the last time I ate here for they had cut down a bit on the heat of every dish. Again this is another way to make the food last longer on the buffet. Cayenne, mustard, and sugar all preserve food. I have gone into this place where the food was so hot I couldn't eat it. Not every dish is a vindaloo. This is the treasure of indian crusine, an abundant variety of savory spices-Not so much heat you cant taste what the dish is suppose to be. I had a dish here the other day which was a horrendous mix of lentil powder clumps cooked in a sauce of yellow yogurt curry. Yet another way to extend the food. Yellow yogurt curry!!? Do they really think they can fool their clientele with such garbage? Tandoori chicken was a tough and dry bird. The rice pudding had no cardarmon, leaving a bland tasteless turge of evaporated sweet milk. Please make indian food like it is suppose to taste, PLEASE! This is a place you come for the food, not the ambience. My husband and I have been coming here for over 15 years and it's still our absolute favorite weekend lunch. It's pretty much the only place we will put aside our germ-a-phobic ways and eat at a buffet. It's just that good! And who cares you come out smelling like you've just been in an Indian kitchen, the food is so worth it. From the rice, tandoori chicken, creamed spinach, tikka masala, naan bread...try it all. I recommend filling up a small bowl of their yogurt cucumber sauce (it's next to the salad) as it is a cooling, refreshing side to all the wonderful flavors of the hot food. Best Indian food I've ever had. They've always been accommodating to people with dietary restrictions, but they've updated their menu to specify which dishes are vegan. The Gobi Manchurian is one of the best cauliflower dishes I've ever had! Their service is unparalleled; your drink will never go more than a few sips without being refilled and a server is always nearby if you need anything. They can accommodate big groups as well. India Palace is among the best Punjabi food I have tasted. This restaurant has been in Tulsa for decades, and is definitely the best authentic Indian food in Tulsa. Everything is fresh and delicious. The service is wonderful, great at handling large and complicated orders. Everyone is warm and kind and wants to take care of you. The portion sizes are incredibly generous. A must-go if you like Indian food. Drinks: mango or salt lassi. Can't go wrong Appetizers: Their best appetizer is their samosa, closely followed by pakora. Pappadum with tamarind and mint chutneys are complimentary, and if you like spicy food you can ask them for their spicy onion-chutney as well. Food: The best way to eat here is to go in a large group and order family style. While the buffet has a nice variety of tasty food, food ordered off the menus tastes so much better. Among the vegetarian entres, my favorites are the paneer makhani and the malai kofta. The saag paneer and bhangan bharta are always well-received as well. All of the naans are to die for--the garlic naan and onion kulcha are my favorite. All the entres come with jeera rice, but the vegetable biriyani is also delicious. Dessert: gulab jamun or kulfi. I guess it just doesn't feel like "going out" if everything we order is really similar to what Mom would have on our dinner table at home. But, since I've moved away from home and don't really know how to cook Indian food, India Palace is my opportunity to get a taste of home away from home. The service is wonderful - everyone is really friendly and makes sure we enjoy our meal. The food is delicious - lots of variety and everything tastes exactly as it should. It bugs me when you eat an Indian meal that is unnecessarily heavy and greasy. While Indian food isn't exactly the lightest fare, it doesn't require excess grease and cream. Luckily, India Palace dishes are well balanced and full of flavor. Also, the pricing is great! Finally, catering with India Palace is just the best. My husband and I had an engagement party in Tulsa 2 years ago at the Mayo Hotel. As we're both from Indian backgrounds it was pretty much mandatory that we serve an Indian meal for dinner. We had quite a bit of trouble dealing with the Mayo staff - they were just complicated and presented all sorts of unnecessary obstacles just weeks and days before our event. However, despite the difficulty in dealing with the Mayo, India Palace was able to put together a DELICIOUS meal that wowed our VERY discerning guests (including our extremely picky parents). They did it all with a smile even though we became well aware of the frustrating hurdles that the Mayo staff presented them with. I would definitely pay India Palace a visit if you're ever in the mood for a delicious Indian meal! Best Indian Food in Tulsa. They do a really nice buffet for lunch. In the evening, you order normally from the menu. The Lamb dishes are my favorite, and the Naan variants are great, especially the garlic. The music is traditional, appropriate, and just awesome. IP has a wonderful ambiance, perfect for a date, but also great for meeting up with a bunch of friends to share a table at the end of a long week. Excellent, friendly service. India Palace is a great representative of Indian cuisine in Tulsa. It has an authentic, intimate atmosphere and super friendly wait staff. The food is mouth watering delicious. My husband and I can speak for the chicken curry and the lamb punjabi, both being very flavorful, with juicy meat pieces. Their naan is fluffy and almost melts in your mouth. The only thing that was off, was my iced chai. Definitely not the best I've ever had. It tasted very watered down. It Didn't have that spicy, sweet taste. However, they gave it to us on the house because it came out late. An almost win-win. I should add, if you are in a hurry to eat and get out, get their food to go. I am bumping you up to 5 stars Indian Palace! Came here last night with a gal pal and we gorged our indulgences in naan, spinach paratha, saag paneer and lamb korma. OMG - everything was hot (temperature), spicy and just so delicious. This was way too much food for two girls, but we ate it all anyways, it was just that damn good. It was my first time trying the lamb korma. It's an almond based sauce with butter and spices. The flavors were rich and nutty, I loved it! The lamb was so moist, fork tender and juicy. I LOVE THIS PLACE. Best food in ames. Things to reccommend: Chilli Chicken, Keema Samosas, Garlic Naan, and the Chicken Tikka Masala. They have a spice level of 1-10. I like spicy food and get mine at 10 which isn't too hot, but the spice does creep up on you. I have never had a bad experience, just wish they were open for lunch! I've been going to India Palace for a few years - way before I became vegan. They have provided outstanding service, delicious food, and a warm welcome without fail since I started going there. The décor is a little outdated and I think it's kind of a shame that they don't use the bar, but this place is incredible. The Chana Masala and Vegetable Pakora are my favorite, and I'm pretty sure I could eat it as long as they kept bringing it out. While visiting my sister-in-law we came here since she didn't stop talking about it. I've had Indian food plenty of times all over the place. So I got on my phone and checked to see if there were any reviews for it on Yelp :D, it had a bunch of reviews and was sitting at 4 stars so I gave the go ahead that we could eat there. All I have to say is "wow". I mean really everything about this place was great. Nice quiet setting with dim lights. Actual Indians working there (always a good sign). The service was phenomenal, the owner was constantly going around making sure all the tables were good. Our server was awesome make good suggestions and explained things on the menu that some of us weren't sure about. (Didn't speak English perfectly but it wasn't difficult to understand him) Now let me get to the food. We ordered a lot of it and it all came out timely and cooked perfectly. We got the Raita, Spinich Paratha, Paneer Kulcha and Vegetable Samosas for appetizers. And for our meals we got the Tandoori Chicken, Beef Vindaloo and the Special Pillan Rice. When eating ethnic food, its always good if the restaurant is full of people from the food's country of origin, and this has always been true at India Palace. The staff is excellent ... they always keep my cup of chai full. The food is quite good. I've only been for the lunch buffet so I can't speak on dinner, but the food seems to be of a good quality. The rice pudding and mango custard is amazing. Its hard to save room for it ... but you just must. The only negative is that the buffet never changes ... it is always the exact same. This is my favorite Indian of all time. The buffet is amazing for lunch, but the dinner menu is also extensive and the food is always excellent. I have been to India Palace on dates as well as dinners before school dances, and also for birthday dinners. The atmosphere can be as intimate or communal as you want it to be. The staff is friendly and very accommodating of taste (spiciness level) and food allergies. They will work with you to make sure that you not only eat, but that you eat well. I'm new to Tulsa and this place was just...amazing. I was so impressed with the service, the food, the atmosphere. Our waiter recommended a lamb dish as well as chicken tikka masala. We had samosas, three different types of naan, and the kulfi (Indian Ice cream which tastes similarly to run raisin) for dessert. Everything was wonderful and absolutely worth it. My family and I went for dinner over the weekend and were definitely impressed. The service was impeccable. The vegetarian samosas were some of the best I've ever had - really flavorful but not too spicy. I literally could have just eaten those for dinner! We had both garlic and regular naan - both were soft and fluffy, not overcooked. The chicken tikka masala was pretty good. The flavor was very good, although I agree with some reviewers that they could kick up the spice just a bit (and I'm not that daring when it comes to spicy food). It usually takes a while for someone to come over to me and take my order.
