While the food was good, the delivery was not. I ordered at 11:30am with an estimated delivery time of 12:05-12:15. The only reason I chose this restaurant was due to an estimated delivery of 30-40 minutes as I'm diabetic and need to stick to a very strict schedule. At 12:30 I called and was told the driver would call me in 1-2 minutes. I waited for the call and, after another 15-20 minutes when it had not arrived and no food had been delivered at that time, I called again. The second call was a bit more fruitful in that the driver called and said he was 5 minutes away. During the time I waited, I looked up the amount of time it would take for me to drive to and from the restaurant myself; 15 minutes each way. Had I driven to and from the restaurant, I could have saved myself well over half an hour. On top of this, I'd pre-tipped. My suggestion for anyone ordering from here, save yourself the time and money and go pick up the food yourself. You'll get it faster and cheaper. read more

Just ordered food for 12 guests on 30 October Monday, the delivery was late and most disappointing thing is food containers are not fixed in bag well, all the curry from each box was spilled in the bag where i got half portions for what i paid. I gave a call to the person who delivered, his answer was rude that i am here to deliver the food not responsible for any damages of containers. spoke to manager, he left my call for long hold and said we will take care for next time and hang up. Yes, I am a fan! Here's all that I've tried at this place and everything tastes very good! Overall the location, ambiance, staff and the food are on point and I'll definitely be coming back and bringing more friends in future! 1. Saag Tikki- good appetizer, just crispy enough. This could use a little bit more seasoning though. 2. Baigan Bharta- if you are looking for a vegan option, this is an excellent one! Oily of course but delicious! They use bell peppers as well as peas in the gravy. This can be eaten with any naan/ paratha or poori. Tastes like homemade Baigan Bharta! 3. Malai Kofta- My favorite North India dish! This place makes a great Malai Kofta creamy curry. However, the koftas are not as 'Malaidar' as I'd like.. they don't fall apart as easily as they should. But they do a very good job with the gravy which compensates well for their average koftas. The gravy has lots of almond thin slices and carrots, tastes yum- not for vegan and nut-free folks, sorry! 4. Bread- Don't opt for their bread basket, the selection isn't very nice. Instead, select individual ones. I've tried their mint naan- tastes average, they have several better options like the Pashwari (royal naan) fro instance. Just enough amount of sweetness and goes well with all kinds of curries. Their alu paratha can definitely use some more stuffing. these are soft but not enough seasoning and potato stuffing. their cherry naan has maraschino cherry bits along with sweet, dried coconut shavings. I'd prefer Pashwari naan over this one. Their poori plate (set of 2 pooris) is good too, a healthier option to bhaturas.. can be eaten with all kinds of curries. 5, Chicken Jalfrezi, Lamb do -piaza, Chicken tikka (appetizer)- My friends all said great things about these dishes. Dalvir was our server, and he had excellent advice. Bar offered a long menu of beers and wines. Starters were hot and tasty. The portion size is nice, and the quality is good. Why not 5 stars? Like several other Yelpers have observed, it's just too spicy. This is my go-to for quick, delicious delivery when I'm craving Indian food. The prices are very reasonable and each order comes with a very large side of amazing, fragrant rice and adding the naan for only $3 is money very well spent. It sounds cliche but my favorite is the chicken tikki masala, hot (medium was good but I loved the extra kick). The sauce was creamy and chicken was very moist. The chicken jalfrezi was also great, a little milder but nice thick gravy and came with tons of snap peas, onions, mushroom, and broccoli. This is our go to Indian food to order for company lunches. You cannot beat the price of the lunch combo. For the most part they are generous with the amount of meat, which is always a plus. We have never had a bad meal from here. I personally love the Lamb Coconut Curry and the Vegetable Samosas the most. So for quality of food, they get 5 stars. I give a 4 star review because when we order 20+ meals, it would be helpful if things were labeled well. We provide names in the order, so I am not sure why they cannot label with those. The writing is not legible, and they don't even provide a receipt so I can't even try to matc the meals myself. There are always a few people who order the same thing, but with different spice levels. They do not indicate which dish is spicy or not, so last time my mouth was on fire while my co-worker got my mild lamb saag. I know that you are busy and it would take a few extra minutes to label correctly, but it would improve costumer service and make our experience so much better. Especially for a group that often has an order of over $250. My only other comment is their lunch menu is not available to be ordered from on foodler or grub hub, which makes no sense. After a day exploring Boston, we were in the mood for Indian and after a thorough online search, India Quality was the obvious choice. They don't take reservations for groups smaller than 6, but this being the middle of winter, we took a chance and getting a table was a breeze. For the first time in the US, I found a sauce that Mata Hari'ed its way into my memory. It is one of the sauces on the table - it introduces itself with a wiggle of the hips and a light chilli-ish promise and then, as it reaches your throat, it lights the fires of hell - in the best possible way. Cue scratchy throat, squeaky voice and a light sweat on the upper lip. Gorgeous, but don't say you weren't warned. This was a beautiful night of excellent food: I am a big fan of Matar Paneer (home made cottage cheese and peas in a mild sauce) and this was among the best that I've had. It only comes as a main course, but they made a smaller starter portion which we shared amongst the four of us. To me, this was my highlight of the meal. The Saag Tikki that we also shared as a starter was quite bland - the potato was there, but it was light on the ginger and cumin, so there was no real taste. Main courses were excellent: Butter Chicken (ordered mild mild) was creamy and tasty, the Chicken Tikka Masala (distinctly Masala taste - beautifully spiced) and a lovely medium Lamb Korma with a beautiful warm afterglow. The naan breads were excellent - the garlic naan is potent, but beautiful - make sure you have no intimate meetings planned for the next day. This is the best Indian food I have tried in America. The most recommended dish is the goat curry with bone. It is not that easy to have goat dishes. I think I'm the vegan friend that Ellie P. is referring to. India Quality is all that and more. It's been rated best Indian Restaurant in Boston for the last 3 years (Zagat), but I didn't know that when I started eating there every Sunday. The staff has been changing a bit over the years, but they're still courteous and swift. The food is really fantastic-- I've heard from people born in India that it is their favorite. For vegetarians there is a nice selection (if you eat dairy, try the Malai Kofta --cheese dumplings in a tomato cream sauce--, if you don't, ask for any of the Aloo --potato-- dishes without dairy). The onion chutney (one of the 3 condiments at every table) is the freshest I've ever tasted. Lunch comes with a cabbage dish, papadum (lentil crackers), and tea or coffee. Try it all (especially their Masala chai, great with or without milk). If you eat dairy, try the Gulab Jamun (fried milk balls in a light syrup). A lunch portion is enough for me to take leftovers and have a second meal. The dinner portions are enough for three meals. Thus, the prices are better than they appear. There IS a student discount, so ask about it! Most of the wait staff is a little shy, but terrific service abounds. read more

Basically everyone but me loves India Quality, so conversations liked this happened a lot: Me: Let's grab dinner! Friend: Heyyy...you live near India Quality. Me: It's true. Don't like it. Anywhere else. Friend: Okay...so ...no Indian food. How about Pizzeria Uno? Me: I actually like Indian food a lot. We could go to the one on Mass Ave or... Friend: What about Fridays? Me: Or there's a bunch of good Indian food in Cambridge. Friend: Well if you don't like India Quality we might as well just go to like Chilis or something*. Me: FINE. We'll go to India Quality. *I don't really understand the logic here either. To be fair, India Quality isn't all that bad. I always felt the restaurant to be of questionable cleanliness, and something about the way most of the food was flavored didn't work for me. To this day I can't entirely pinpoint what the problem is, although I have an extreme taste aversion to cilantro that may come into play. The Royal Naan remains one of my favorite versions of naan ever (and usually when I got dragged to India Quality I just ordered that and a beer). After about 3 years of being dragged there against my will, however, my feeling toward India Quality went from a general ambivalence to a profound hatred. I am prefacing this review by stating that I grew up on Indian food, home-cooked by my grandmother, and until I found India Quality was turned off by just about every other restaurant in the Boston area that claimed to offer Indian cuisine. The fact is, they just couldn't stack up to Nana's cooking much less offer anything close to authentic. That said, IQ had far exceeded my expectations the first time I went and continues to do so each and every time I go back. It does not just get close to authentic, it is quintessential North Indian fare that teases the palate with each succulent bite! I often slip into a food coma soon after eating here as I simply cannot manage to stop stuffing my face. The curries, barayanis, masalas, vindaloos, and saag paneer dazzle as if there were an actual dance party going on in your mouth. Simply put, the sauces are magical! The bread basket is a great option for those who want a little variety to sample the different types of breads from the region as well. Drinks are cheap and have a more than reasonable selection give its modesty (where can you go for a $5 Chimay? IQ!!) My one warning to patrons though, is be sure to know your threshold for spicy foods. While most Americanized Indian establishments will cater to our very low tolerance for pepper, IQ does not, and does mean what they say. If you feel that you like spicy foods, maybe start with the medium and go from there. I order extra spicy every time, but I but I also like chewing on hot coals after a BBQ... If you remember the now-legendary SEGA Genesis game NBA Jam, you can use "Nothin' but net!" as your reference point.) This resto would be virtually indistinguishable from any other of the myriad northern Indian options in the city if not for two things: 1) fantastic service, and 2) Pixy Stix at the door. Regarding #1. The servers have always been exceedingly attentive, polite, and quick. Never is a water glass left unfilled. (Not to be guilty of broad generalizations, but I always love the service at Indian restaurants. Win, subcontinent. Win.) However, IQ is so gracious that they earn my Best Of award. Regarding #2. Any establishment that not only provides Andes mints with the check but also a large silver platter of various candies--including Pixy Stix and See's--at the door wins so hard and earns so many points that I simply cannot quantify. Food I love at IQ: vegetable pakora, behel puri, naan (another possible candidate for best naan in Boston; heavy on the ghee but so stupidly delicious,) matar paneer, chana saag, fish coconut curry, and gulab jamun. Their dessert list is weird and Americanized; stick with the Indian classics and avoid such things as chocolate devil midnight murder meat cake, or whatever it is. Also, IQ has brilliant chai. (Don't call it "chai tea." Chai means "tea." Saying "tea tea" is like calling a bathroom at a French restaurant "the la toilette." Which I've done, but that's not important. I'm classless. So Zagat and a whole bunch of Yelpers says that this is Boston's best Indian restaurant. You make me want to cry. Not because you're wrong, but because if you're right that makes me the typical Yelp PITA who says "Boston is terrible for ___, I should know I'm from ___" But I'm not from India, and I've never been there, so what am I on about? Well, not Indian food but curries.... dopiaza, jalfrezi, tikka masala, rogan josh, madras, vindaloo, korma, balti et al. All served up with rice, naan and poppadoms, poppadoms, poppadoms. It's England's most popular meal, it's the one you and your mates have at 11pm after 5 pints on a Friday night. Heaven for the mouth, hell for the ass. So I had high hopes for Indian quality, and to give it the true test I stuck firmly to my usuals: # Poppadoms - these were not fresh enough and came with bland sauces. Worst of all, was only one small one between two people. Yes, they're free but curry houses normally give one big one per person # Biriyani (meat and mixed rice with a spicy vegetable sauce) - the chicken and lamb meat were rubbery, the rice had peas in it (!), and the vege sauce sucked. It should've come separate too, not mixed in. # Peshawari Naan - too small, very flat and not nice and puffy, no obvious raisins and coconut, just seemed like a naan spread with cheap honey. So failures on all fronts? Well, nearly... the beer selection was awesome and there are plenty of cool candies to choose from when you leave. But really, for a good curry - this was bad.
