The best Indian food I have had in Boston!! I've been coming to this restaurant with my friends and family for the past 4 years that i've been in Boston, and I've never had a bad experience here. Between their friendly service and authentic, fresh food, it is hard to find a better place to enjoy Indian food in the city! The food is pretty good, the portions are great, the location is fine. However, the staff are very discourteous. While trying to order a catering service for a holiday party I was told several times that I would need to call back or come down to place my order directly. When I finally placed my order the employee stated that I "need to get a better phone before I make another order. Your quality is terrible." (Not that it matters, but the iPhone I used to place the order is in perfect working condition). Additionally, I was told three separate times that I would be able to pay upon delivery. I was subsequently pestered about getting a card number for the order, which would have been fine if the promise to pay upon delivery hadn't been made twice in the original conversation. I try Indian cuisine in most cities that I visit because they generally have pretty good options for vegan/vegetarian cuisine. This place was pretty underwhelming. The staff was 80% @$$hole and 0% good at their job. There were three in my party and no one was "wowed" by their entrees or appetizers. The naan tasted like it was packaged and not prepared fresh. I'm not really a big Indian fan, and when I eat it I prefer the South Indian (this is North Indian). But this is one of my favorite Boston restaurants. Was here a few times alone and much more often with a friend, with my sister, or with a group from BU. This is one of about THREE places in all of Boston that, when asked by very white me to make my dish "as hot as you can make it," actually complies. (Taiwan Cafe comes close.) Always worth a pop in. This is the best indian food in Boston hands down. I've tried most places around Boston and this is just consistently the best. The food is always extremely flavorful and they add a nice level of spice (unlike some places that won't listen when you ask for spicy). We often do take-out and have never been disappointed. When we do go to the restaurant, it is even better. The service is excellent. The staff is friendly, helpful in their suggestions and their suggestions are INCREDIBLE. Plus, they have no problem letting you order dishes that aren't on the menu. The decor is simple but nice, and the atmosphere is quiet and personal. It's a great place to have dinner with friends and enjoy an intimate conversation without feeling like you can hear a pin drop. If you like Indian food you are crazy to not try this place. I wanted to take my boyfriend out for his birthday and I really wanted to take him for Indian food. See, he's originally from India, and he's been missing home cooking quite a bit. I looked into restaurants, and I also enlisted a friend to help me look into restaurants. Thus we came up with India Quality.' My boyfriend and I went around 6:30 on a Saturday night, hoping that it wouldn't be too busy. Oops. We had a 15-20 minute wait due to our lack of calling ahead (but it wasn't bad, we ended up chatting with others who were waiting as well). When we were finally seated, the food was AMAZING. The naan was phenomenal, the chicken korma and tiki masala were delicious, the chicken tandoori was (as he put it) just like home, and the mango lassi was perfection. The waitstaff was extremely nice, we had absolutely no problem. The bill wasn't bad at all, reasonably priced considering the amount and quality of food that we received. The space is a bit small, I don't know how big of a group they'd be able to accommodate for. The decor is nice, not too much and not too little. Overall, I recommend this restaurant with 5 stars and I will definitely be going again. In fact, my friends and I will be returning there soon for my birthday celebration dinner! :) read more

Overall a very good pick. Food was tasty. I had shahi paneer, nice flavor. I ordered medium heat and it was just right. The chutney was delicious with the crackers. It's probably the best Indian food I've had in all the cities in the US that I have eaten Indian food. The price was very good for the dishes. My companions ordered dishes they do not normally get and were very impressed. The coconut, raisin, honey naan was out of this world. Not too much of anything, just a hint enough to make it perfectly delicious. Their special masala chah tea is what, I believe, chai tea is supposed to taste like. None of that sugary stuff, but rather rich spices in a perfect blend to make it the most enjoyable warm drink for $2 that I have ever had. The service was top notch. Highly recommended. I was very disappointed with my order. I got malai kofta and chicken tikka masala. The malai kofta's cheese balls were strange and almost tasted like falafel. The malai kofta sauce was the only thing I enjoyed that I ordered. I've had chicken tikka masala from a lot of different restaurants, and this was very disappointing. It did not taste like other tikka masalas and was bland. My sister and her friend (both American) can make tikka masala much better. I am so happy this place is a 10 minute walk from our apartment. Service is attentive and quick. The food is very good, and the excellent lunch pricing makes it an absolute hell of a deal. Essentially, you get pappadum, entrée, rice, and a cup of coffee for about nine bucks. My favorite dish is the aloo gobi, which is with cauliflower and potatoes. Just great. read more

I have given this place 5 rating a year ago. But now I regret it. They no more serve fresh and tasty food. I just had horrible experience with them. I have ordered for a pickup. When I went there they were trying to sell me something else which is totally different than what I ordered. They were not feeling sorry about it. They said all they had is shahi paneer, then why don't you tell your customers that you only serve the left overs. When I came back to home. Naans were not hot at all and looks like they are left overs too. I'm never going to visit this place again. Of course the naans were thick, half cooked and hard to chew. I accidentally ordered the wrong menu item through a third party service and when I notified the restaurant of the mistake they brought me the correct item free of charge. We've been going to India Quality for years. Last week I had a coconut curry vegetable dish and it was exquisite. I always change up my entree each time i visit. My wife is sensitive to hot spices and orders 'mild'. The saag paneer is her favorite and it was just perfect. I heard plenty of 'm-m-m-m" while we were enjoying our food. We also order a third dish aloo chole just so we'll have a dinner at home for the next day. As for the naan (bread) my wife always asks them to brown it, and that's what we get. I also tap into the condiment tray on my visits. Great ambiance (my assistant is of Indian descent and says the decor is how her parents decorate their home.) Sophisticated but casual with music at a low volume and very friendly and professional waitstaff. And the owner feels like a personal friend. read more

The food here has very little flavor and is extremely heavy. All of the dishes I tried needed salt and spice. The eggplant dish was super creamy and gave me a stomach ache. The tofu dish has peas in it even though it was not in the description. Won't be back again. read more

At first I was afraid to try this place- I'm really picky and never had Indian food before. However, when my boyfriend got the chicken tikka masala it smelled spicy and delicious so I gave in. They give you a choice of mild medium or hot (he is a wimp and gets medium) but I like it hot! The chicken goa is also really good for a sweet-hot. The naan is also delicious and they cook it fresh. I like the garlic naan it helps cool down my mouth after the spicy food. They have a lunch special where it is about half of what you would pay at dinner. Its from opening until 3 everyday...give it a try. The people who work there are really nice and friendly and the place is very clean and even though its on the basement level still gets a lot of sunlight. They also have free candy. :) read more
