I have lived in Boston for 8 years and can confidently say that India Quality is the best Indian food I have had in the city. Their portion sizes are always generous and the quality of their food is outstanding. I would highly recommend the Shahi Paneer, which has been my go to dish for years, but there are no shortage of fantastic options for everybody--vegetarian, meat, you name it! In addition, the staff are extremely friendly, welcoming, and responsive to suggestions. You can ask for food accommodations or modifications to the dishes and the kitchen staff is always flexible. The atmosphere of the restaurant is outstanding as well. It is small and cozy with an ambiance perfect for dinners with friends, celebrations, and any occasion really. They have a solid drink menu and options for very tasty appetizers and desserts as well. The restaurant is in a perfect location as well. If you are ever in town for a Red Sox game or going out for the night, it is conveniently located in Fenway, about a 2 minute walk from Fenway Park and the bars in the local area. 100% my favorite restaurant in Boston, and perhaps of all time. Finally found an amazing Indian restaurant in the area! I ordered a ton of food for lunch today and it was all amazing. We had goat saag, mix meat curry (very tender meat!-impressed) and saag paneer which were all flavorful and perfectly seasoned. Considering this restaurant is dubbed "the best Indian restaurant in Boston", I had to check it out. I visited for lunch and found a nice quiet ambiance and friendly service. Now they don't have a buffet for lunch, but I found most of the curry dishes to be $8.95 so pretty affordable. I ordered a palak paneer with naan for myself and that was enough to stuff me plus provide hefty leftovers. The dishes come with rice as well. Palak paneer is my favorite or all favorites and Quality Indian Restaurant did it well; I ordered mine as medium spicy because I'm a spicy wimp but I should note it really wasn't spicy at all (and I'm very sensitive to spiciness) so if you're a fan of spiciness you should definitely tell your waiter. read more

The mixed platter was very disappointing - all the items seemed like they were just reheated. The lamb jalfrezi and chicken paneer were quite delicious. The stand outs: Chicken Tikka Masala and their Garlic Naan -- comforting, flavorful, perfection. A close third was the Tandoori Chicken -- It's always better when it comes out on a sizzling platter! Quality place. We came here on Marathon Monday at around noon and was a bit surprised that it was nearly empty. I would imagine most people were wanting to watch the athletes, but a lot of them hadn't come that far yet. Nevertheless, it was an a good experience with relatively competitive prices. I ordered the butter chicken, medium spice, and it had a good kick. Our table of three got one medium sized plate of rice to share, which actually wasn't enough. I wasn't the biggest fan of a $2 additional charge for rice, but its a common practice nowadays. Overall, a good experience and competitive prices for the area. This was the worst Indian meal I've ever had. I know this is a strong statement, but it's unfortunately true. I love spicy food. I am the person who requests a "Thai Spicy" level of heat at Thai restaurants. I've brought Sriracha to some Chinese restaurants when I know that they don't carry it. I've once brought a jar of hot yellow chili peppers to a fast food restaurant because I wanted a little kick with my burger. I make my own Sichuan chili oil. My co-workers buy me hot sauce as gifts. I imagine I can tolerate a level of heat that most cannot. When I read Brian X.'s review that Medium at India Quality was not spicy at all, I was expecting the Spicy to be pretty mild/medium. I did not expect Spicy to be inedible. Chicken Tikka Masala: When I bit into the chicken morsels, all I could taste was chili pepper. No other flavor. It wasn't so much the heat (didn't make my taste buds really tingle or anything), it was the complete absence of any other flavor besides chili pepper. Was the chicken even marinaded in a yogurt mixture? I ended up discarding the chicken and basically just ate the sauce with my rice. It was really strange to me that the chicken absorbed all the spice from the chili but not so much the sauce. I literally spent $15 for some tomato cream sauce. Baingan Bharta: This is my favorite Indian dish of all time. Just not here. Even the microwavable ones at the grocery store taste better. There was an absence of flavor in this dish. I'm not sure if it's because the dish is bland at baseline or if the chili peppers masked all the flavor. But I order all my dishes spicy, and I've only found that heat enhances flavor (for me). But this dish was a huge disappointment. $14 for some bland eggplant that tastes like pureed chili peppers makes it more upsetting. I even added salt to it, which I've never had to do before for Indian food. Vegetable Platter: This was okay. Not great but not bad. Garlic Naan: Even Trader Joe's naan has more of a chew than this place. The naan at this restaurant is more bready. I did not get any hints of garlic. Would I give this restaurant another try? No. Tips for other Yelpers: don't order it Spicy even if you're a spice lover. Don't order the Baingan Bharta. read more

A few friends and I were craving Indian food and saw that India Quality restaurant had one of the highest ratings for Indian food on yelp, so we decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad we did! I wasn't expecting much, given that Boston isn't particularly known for having food Indian food, but this place hit the spot. We ordered the Malai Kofta, Saag Paneer, Chicken Tikka Saag, and Butter Chicken. Although none of them were particularly impressive, they weren't bad and we enjoyed our meal. The kofta balls were a little hard and didn't soak in the gravy as much as I expected, and the butter chicken gravy wasn't as creamy as we thought it'd be. Additionally both of the saag dishes tasted too spinach-y in my opinion. The portion sizes were also quite small compared to other Indian restaurants. We ordered a garlic naan and a butter naan as well as rice to come with the dishes. They were fine, nothing worth commenting on. Overall, we were quite satisfied after our meal. The 4 of us were very hungry, and we completely finished all of the food we ordered. Also when the check came we were pleasantly surprised to see that it was only around $18 per person with tip and tax, cheaper than the average dinner out! Although we were skeptical when first reading about this place on yelp, and based on the pictures (thought they looked a little sketchy), we left with our stomachs and souls full. If you're going to use the word "quality" in your name, you'd better deliver; they do. If you're a fan of Indian food and going to Fenway for a game, this is a good choice. They're a minute or two walking distance east of the Kenmore stop on the green line, so you avoid a lot of the crowd and the competition for burgers and brews. The online menu is organized differently than the menus we were given, but it's essentially the same items (I think the prices have gone up as well). Except the dish I ordered, Chicken Curry, is now billed as Chicken Tikka Curry on the menu. I ordered it medium, and we wondered if that would be too spicy for me. The waiter said it wouldn't be a problem. He was right, as was the spiciness. It was large pieces of tandoori-cooked boneless chicken with tomatoes and onions and green peppers in the curry sauce. The other order, Saag Paneer, was very intense in its flavor.. We realized that was because it was not mixed or diluted with any type of cream sauce you might get at other Indian restaurants. In both cases, the bowls in which the orders were served were deceptively deep. We also tried the Royal Naan, which contained raisins, honey, and coconut. It was thick and pleasing and sweet, a fine complement to our dinner choices. You could almost call it a dessert naan though. Dinner delivery was fast, service was prompt, water glasses never got below half. I'm looking forward to coming back here with a group and trying some of the group offerings on the menu. read more

India Quality is a treasure that is tucked in the bottom of one of Comm Ave's many brownstones. Despite its small and modest exterior, the inside of restaurant is nicely decorated, clean and spacious. Moreover, the waitstaff are very friendly, and provide quick service. My boyfriend and I ordered two Strongbow Cidars, the Mixed Platter, Pashwari Naan and the Keema Saag (a daily special) to share. I don't know what it is about Indian restaurants, but i'm always unbelievably full by the end of the meal. This place was no different - even though we only ordered one entree between the two of us, I couldn't have eaten another bite! The highlight of the meal was definitely the Pashwari Naan - it had a wonderfully sweet flavour, and with 4 sizable pieces, it was perfect to share between two people! Although I preferred eating it plain, it also tasted really good with a spicy curry. Second best was the Keema Saag, which is my "go-to" at Indian restaurants. We chose a medium spice level, but I think next time I will test my limits with a higher spice level. I like ordering sample platters as appetizers, because they allow you to try a little bit of everything. On the other hand, it's rare for me to enjoy each item equally. In the Mixed Platter, the Chicken Tikki and the Chicken Pakora were my least favourite because I found them a bit dry. However, the Vegetable Pakora, Samosa, and Saag Tikki were fabulous - each was fresh, and had a very unique and vibrant flavour.
