Visited India for their dine-in Ilunch special, where I tried their lamb chop kabobs which included a kale cucumber salad, basmati rice, naan, and tomato sauce. Very good portion, delicious and filling. My friend and I also ordered the Karahi Gosht as an entree to share which also included a good amount of flavor as well. Love how the goat fell off the bone and was immersed into the sauce. We also ordered mango lassi which was thick, creamy, and not too sweet. The service itself was fast and friendly. I initially tried this place via takeout, but waited till I dined in person to write this review. In person, this place is beautifully decorated. The service was excellent and the dishes were nicely presented. However I don't think this place serves authentic Indian food. Personally, in terms of taste and texture, this place would be below average. Initially I ordered a variety of curries via takeout. The issue is it's served over rice, which may work in person but via takeout the rice absorbs all of the curry leaving you with dry meat and rice. It's probably the worst way of serving Indian food and I don't know why they decided on this. The korma and Masala curries were equally tasteless and dry. The saag curry however was pretty good, probably the best thing I tasted on the menu. The naan bread bowl has a number of confusing flavors (ginger naan??) and none of them were very appetizing. Anyway, I don't think a review based on takeout is fair to the restaurant so I dined in person. While the presentation and atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, I don't think the food lives up to expectations. read more

I'll be totally honest and tell you that Indian food isn't my favorite cuisine mostly because I don't enjoy curry, but I really love everything about this restaurant. The decor is beautiful, the staff is top notch, the flowers, planters, and gardens are stunning, and the food absolutely delicious. We may only come here about 4 times a year but are reminded how much we enjoy everything each time we visit. They have a delicious mixed grill kabob that is among my absolute favorite thing to order. Everything is served up fresh, seasoned perfectly, and presented so beautifully. Today we came for their lunch buffet, which is a great value if you want to have a quick lunch or try many different types of dishes. Came here on a very busy Valentines day weekend, and when we got there even with reservations about half a dozen people including us had to wait for 10 mins or so just to get into the building since the place was so packed and I'm sure due to covid protocols. At first it seemed like it could be an issue as you could see the wait staff were behind with cleaning tables and literally running around, so I thought the service was going to be very slow, but I was very wrong. The minute we were seated they were always there and with positive upbeat attitude. Once we ordered our food it all came out at a decent time. Saturday night dinner was quite busy. My party of 4 were seated in a corner booth. We started with cocktails, basket of assorted Naan and veggie samosas. Naans were delicious and the samosas were ok. The food was very good! Typical Indian cuisine. Not a huge fan of my entree which was the lamb but my bfs dish, the chicken tikka masala was AMAZING!! I ate the rest of his the next day lol Beautiful inside and the staff was very good! Very attentive! Our drinks were never empty. My only complaint is the wait. My bf and I had a reservation and had to wait in line for like 15 min, outside in the cold and it was raining. Pretty decent food but you might have to wait a bit for your table. They have really nice decor inside in some of the areas. We tried the Papri Chaat, Vegetable samosa, chicken kabob, Naan bread basket, Chicken Tikka Masala and paneer dish along with chai and Kashmiri kawa. The papri Chaat was decent, didn't have green chutney at all. The samosas were not like samosa at all, they seemed to be baked and the skin outside tasted so soft and uncooked types. The chicken kabob was very tasty and tender. In the main course, we really liked the naan bread basket, good enough for 4 or more people. It had a huge variety of naans with different flavors. The paneer gravy dish tasted ok and the chicken tikka masala was ok too. Their quantity of chai is really really big. We also tried the Kashmiri kawa and mango lassi. The food and the vibe were 10/10!!! My boyfriend and I just moved to West Warwick RI a month ago from NJ and were looking forward to finding a great Indian restaurant. The food was so authentic, very flavorful and the service was excellent. We had the manager ask twice how we were and so did our waitress. It was easy to book a reservation, everyone was pleasant, the food was amazing, and the vibe was perfect! I ordered the mixed kabob platter: chicken, steak & shrimp kebab with basmati rice, lemon- cilantro chutney (sauce) - pictured. This is a very good and flavorful dish for someone to start out with if they never had Indian food and want to take a small leap to a beautifully flavored dish. The food was exceptional. The mussels was good quality and quantity. The naan bread was really good for dipping in the mussels' spicy sauce and marsala. The lamb is cooked nicely with that smokey flavor expected from kabobs. The mango ice cream was slightly sweet for my taste, but it could be because I just had the tart fresh lemonade. The review could've been 4-5, however the service was subpar. We came in and stood at an empty host stand for a few minutes with several servers walking past us with no acknowledgment. Eventually the host sat us. We sat with a menu and again, the host returned apologized for the wait and gave us menus. He said a server will be with us to take our order. The host returned shortly after and took our drink and food order. The host brought our drinks and a server brought our food. We asked a passing server for another drink and several minutes later, the host returned with the drink. Though the host was more our server, the wait times between requests was longer than expected while other tables around us had a server and was checked in on several times. We waited to ask for a bag for our leftovers and had to approach the host desk ourselves. Our visit was not during rush hour, we dined from 345 - 5. We have been coming to India for years and it is the best Indian cuisine in RI/ Southern MA. The food is always perfect and portions are large and reasonably priced. This restaurant stands out for its aesthetic interiors and sumptuous Thalis (Indian chef curated meals). We went here on a Saturday for brunch and the place had decent footfall (about 8-9 tables got occupied on a rolling basis). It's a particularly spacious restaurant so despite the occupancy, it did not feel crowded at all. The brunch thaali is reasonably priced and costs $12 on weekdays and $19 on weekends. It includes papas, 2 quarters of garlic naan, rice, soup/dal, choice of 3 veg/non veg entrees, kale salad, and kheer. The salad was delicious with raisins and lime and was very palatable to the Indian taste! Garlic naan was buttery and soft! Dal (yellow lentil soup) was thick and flavorful. For entries, we ordered the aloo gobi, saag paneer, paneer Sheekh kabob, butter chicken, chicken sheekh kabob, and lamb kabob (we were 2 of us, hence 6 entries ordered to share). The vegetarian entries were all average (Aloo gobi was too oily and paneer was hard). The meat however was yummy and cooked well! Lamb kabob was one of the best I've eaten ever and the chicken preparations were equally delicious. Kheer was average with very hard rice in it. Service was amazing! Staff was helpful in our asks of condiments and cutlery and polite all throughout. The food isn't too spice and would be a good introduction to Indian food for the uninitiated. In conclusion, should visit if you're in Providence for a taste of authentic North Indian food. read more

Having gotten take out from here a couple of times, it was pretty impressive and I was super excited to try it out. When you walk into the place, it is absolutely beautiful and aesthetically pleasing! Gorgeous bar, decor, and the lighting was exquisite. However when we ordered the food and drinks, it went downhill from there. The glasses we got our drinks in weren't clean and there was an after taste. Ordered the mango lassi; took a sip, it tasted horrible so I sent it back immediately in exchange for a hot tea to cleanse my palate. Mussels were decent. This was an item I was originally impressed by when I ordered for take out, but tonight it was just citrusy with no other flavors in it. Didn't taste any spices, just pure citrus. It was the best thing we ordered however, which tells you a lot. I ordered the Peppered Tamarind Duck. The description on the menu made it sound very appealing with flavors of tanginess and spices with a hint of sweetness. It was a huge disappointment when I received the meal. First off, the duck portion looks unappetizing with how much sauce they cover the duck in, which is a shame. Took one bite, no other flavors except for burnt sugar. Completely overwhelmed the entire dish and you can't even taste the duck. Rice was cooked nicely though and the kale salad that accompanied it was okay at most, just a little bland. Took one bite of each, sent it back immediately when I got the chance. Got completely turned off by the meal at this point, completely lost my appetite. My significant other ordered the Seafood Mango, which had the same problem. Smothered in sauce that overpowered the seafood and mushed the basmati. Again, sweetness was the only taste in there, no other spice tasted in there. Tasted like a dessert soup with seafood. The menu said that it had tiger shrimp in there, but it doesn't seem like tiger shrimp, just a regular ol' big shrimp from a bag in an American grocery store. Swordfish was moist, but you couldn't taste much except for the sauce. Mussels were decent. Although he didn't like it, he felt bad sending almost all of our meal back so we just took it home to toss. Again, very disappointed. The server did offer to exchange the duck for something else, but I even told her that it completely ruined my appetite and I wasn't interested. When the bill came, I was surprised to see that they still charged us for the duck despite only a bite being taken out of it. This experience turned very anticlimactic and was a huge let down. There is potential for great food to be made here, but I'm not sorry to say that I won't be back to see if it changed. read more

I've been to this gem several times and I will be back several more. It is a place where a vegetarian has numerous delicious options. Tofu, chickpeas, paneer... yes! My husband loves to find the spiciest dishes possible and India will always challenge him in a good way when he requests they kick it up for him. Even my picky seven year old LOVES this place. She claims their Cheese Naan Pizza from the kids menu is the cheesiest and best. Add in coconut naan and some chocolate milk... and then henna tattoos every weekend night... and she's sold! Horrible Easter experience - My family and I made 3 reservations for the Easter lunch buffet. It was truly awful. The restaurant was very ill-prepared for the volume and had a nonsensical queue for the buffet. We waited in a disorganized line for over 20 minutes just to get one plate. Patrons had to queue up near other people's booths, which made those customers quite irate, having people standing over their table for the duration of the lunch. One woman in particular was very upset and vocal about the lack of organization and customers standing over her table (understandable given our COVID environment) After paying $26/person for this, I cannot in good faith return to this establishment. read more

Hadn't been here in a long time - so thought this was a nice revisit. Last time I came here, there wasn't an outdoor patio - the doors were open the entire time which allowed for bugs to fly in. We kept having to swat away the nasty little buggers all night. As big as the space was, it was somewhat empty inside. The place itself is decorated nicely with beautiful ceiling accents. We ordered a half bread basket, chicken tikka masala and chicken korma. The bread basket was really good and the mint dipping sauce was very tasty and refreshing. My masala was good, the chicken could've been a bit more tender. My friend didn't enjoy her korma very much, she said it was very bland and kept adding salt. What I also didn't like was that the food came out already plated together. I prefer my masala be separate from my rice - that way I can add as much or as little to the rice as needed. I didn't dislike my visit, but unfortunately this wouldn't be my first choice for Indian. read more

India is a very well decorated restaurant that provides you with a wonderful and comfortable atmosphere in which to dine. At India you don't feel cramped and even the bathrooms show a touch of class with sinks that provides soap, water and hot air drying all in one unit. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and shown to a table. In the beginning our service was very efficient but I think the server was assigned to too many tables in different rooms because after we ordered, we did not see her again and had to flag down a different server to ask for our check. That said, everyone who served us was helpful and friendly. Because I live around the corner from Jalsa Grill and Gravy, the outstanding Indian restaurant in Brooklyn, NY, I've become very picky and critical when ordering Indian food. Had dinner here for first time Saturday evening and will definitely be coming back. Staff were very friendly and accommodating as we had to change our group size twice during the day and 2 of our diners had dietary restrictions. There was no issue finding parking outside, we got there 15 mins early and our table was ready for us to be seated. I know it's very challenging in these Covid times to maintain a staff to run a restaurant but our waitress was great and made some great recommendations for the diners with dietary restrictions and checked back without being intrusive. It was a typically busy Saturday night on the weekend before Christmas with all the typical hustle and bustle that ensues but the atmosphere was very comfortable and didn't impede conversations at the table.
