YUM! Hangry Kitchen was on our list to try for a while, and I'm so glad we finally made it in! Our server, Rob, was awesome. He was very welcoming and helpful with the menu. We started with some drinks - I customized one of their cocktail options to change the liquor and it was delicious! We wanted to try one thing from each section of the menu. We started with the beets which were light and citrusy. The crackers with them were crispy and paired perfectly. We also had the carrot bread grilled cheese, which was so unique! The fried fish collars were cooked super well and perfectly salted. We also got the bratwurst which were nicely charred with some yummy, mustardy potatoes. Our favorite dish was actually dessert! It was a delicious red velvet brownie that was super decadent but perfectly balanced with the filling. Definitely don't skip the dessert menu! Overall, it was a great experience. When we pulled up, I thought "we may have made a bad choice." Its nondescript, strip mall exterior is the rough oyster shell to this pearl. The menu changes weekly and every dish from baby artichokes to paper thin fluke not only hit all parts of the tongue, but blended textures. I never get dessert but I had a hunch that this would be the place to get something special. The s'mores dessert was basically a frozen chocolate mousse with charred fluff and bits of graham cracker and a decadent deep caramel. I may not recover. Don't miss the chance to eat here. read more

I really didn't want to leave a bad review because I was excited to try this place, the menu looked fun and creative, but I have to be honest: I was really disappointed, especially considering I spent nearly $40 on takeout. The staff at the bar were kind and welcoming when I picked up my order, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food just didn't live up to expectations. I ordered the oxtail sliders, which turned out to be more like tiny bites than actual sliders. They had an odd chunk of what seemed like canned pineapple inside,more pineapple than meat, honestly. Also the tiny bun which seemed to be maybe a biscuit texture was extremely hard . To top that off ,everything was tossed around in the container, not even resembling sliders. I only drove a short distance, so I don't think that was due to transit. I also tried the cornbread dumplings. They were more enjoyable than the sliders, but still missed the mark. They were sitting in a vegetable-style medley and were very soggy at the bottom. I'm not sure if that's how they're supposed to be, but it wasn't a texture I enjoyed. I told the bartender I'd come back and dine in next time, thinking this meal would be great, but sadly, I won't be returning. If you have never been to Hangry Kitchen in Pawtucket, you are missing out! They call it "New American Bistro" but we would say unique & sustainable farm/sea to table. Owned by Stacy Deetz, JWU alum & Top Chef contestant, & her husband Rob - she's dreaming up amazing recipes & he is wooing customers, one table at a time. I love that everything is sharable. They are using ingredients that I never thought would work together & the end result is amazing. A couple of items were still on the menu from our first visit but we decided to go with an all new lineup of deliciousness. I had some ideas in mind of what I wanted to order before we talked in. Unfortunately, my selection of Bacon Braised Slipper Limpets was not available so we went with the Whelk Ceviche: local whelks, juicy papaya, zippy Fresno chili & herbs served with crispy passion fruit-curry crackers... they even used the shells as a mold for the crackers (how fun is that?!?!). It had great texture & every bite was special. Hubby ordered the Lasagna Soup: fresh tomato broth spiked with spicy Italian sausage, layered with basil pasta sheets, served with roasted garlic ficelle, crispy Parmesan fricco & ricotta fritters. It was yummi but my favorite parts were the ficelle & the fritters. I could have made a snack of just those! I had to have the Roasted Sugar Pumpkin: molasses & black pepper seasoned sugar pumpkin, paired with marinated honshimeji mushrooms on top of a bed of seasoned ricotta. The pumpkin was roasted with the shell on & everything was edible. The combo of the savory pumpkin with the earthy mushrooms plus the brightness of the ricotta was a winning combo! Last but not least, the Chicken Pot Pie Johnny Cakes: veggie studded corn cakes, pulled chicken, rich chicken gravy, pie crust crumbles. This has been on the menu from the get-go & we can see why. It is as comforting as a blanket on a cold day. It looks beautifully abstract but hits all the right notes in the flavor profile. And I want a plate of Johnny cakes with some local maple syrup! Wow! This place is a gem. I randomly came across them on Yelp and then also saw their feature in RI Monthly. Parking is a bit tricky here since their street spots out front are only 30 minutes. You can tell the menu is super seasonal, which I love. My friend and I had a very hard time narrowing down what we should get since everything looked so good. I generally like veggie dishes, but here I literally wanted to try them all. The butternut squash dumplings were delicious, one of my favorites of the night. My other favorite was the confit turkey with spaetzle, it was super flavorful and just all round awesome. Some other dishes we ordered were the baked apple, crab and grits, as well as the apple crisp. Everything was super thoughtfully put together and artfully presented. Just check out the pics! Her personality is welcoming and the business model of locally sourced foods and community engagement events are what really put this business into the five star territory. Located in the same building as an autobody repair shop we almost passed it by. We parked in the small lot to the left of the building. It looks like most parking is street side in the surrounding neighborhoods. There is a small outdoor seating area between the restaurant and the main road. Inside is a bar taking up about half of the back wall, a corner at the end with a high top for a group and then a variety of tables scattered about the room. Rough wood table tops w/metal chairs in either purple or orange. The artwork on the walls is from a local artist and antique/thrift store finds. Glassware and plates are sourced from the same, so they are most definitely trying to keep their footprint small. Another nice touch. Food is very high quality and delicious! I follow them on Instagram and the menu changes regularly based on what is available. So you will want to stop in regularly and find out what is on the menu. My SO had their corn bisque. He loved it! All that sweet corn taste with a slightly spicy aftertaste. I had the stuffed pepper and it was truly fantastic! They make the bread in the stuffing in house and the spiciness of this dish was just perfect! I really enjoyed that dish. We sampled a couple of adult beverages from their menu. I had the Intoxidaisy which is a nice summery drink. As mentioned, they offer local liquors including the Rhodium coffee black walnut vodka that they use in their espresso martini. That is one good vodka. The vodka used in this drink is from India and has a smoky quality that really set the Intoxidaisy apart. My SO had a craft beer available in cans. Beverage and food prices reflect the quality and expertise of the items and service received. The space is very laid back, fun and easy going. When I heard a former Top Chef contestant had opened a new restaurant in Pawtucket, I was all over it :) The menu looked really intriguing and creative and I was excited to try it out. First off, the decor is really funky and fun. The color scheme is orange and dark purple, and it carries through everything including some of the glassware and even the gorgeous dried flower arrangements on the tables. Our server was eager to please and very helpful. We also met both of the owners and they were both lovely, super down to earth, friendly, warm, and enthusiastic about their new restaurant. I had a lovely cocktail called Fantasticus and it was served in seriously the most gorgeous glass ever that they sourced at an antique shop. Even the silverware had colorful metallics and were just really unique and allowed the personality of the restaurant to really shine through. The food was great. We started out with the squash dumplings and the chicken pot pie johnny cakes. Both were very creative and flavorful. The dumplings were savory and sweet! The johnny cakes combined all the wonderful components of a chicken pot pie into a really unexpected presentation. It was hearty and delicious! My friend enjoyed the whole roasted cauliflower as her entree and was extremely impressed by this veggie dish that was not only gorgeous but had so many layers of flavors and textures. I had the peppercorn butter steak tips. I was excited at the prospect of aligot as a side, but would be remiss to ignore the fact that it wasn't really aligot. It was cheesy mashed potatoes which were lovely and great with the steak tips, beans, and mushrooms, but alas... not aligot. Still not disappointed. It was tasty and I ate every bite. Finally, for dessert I couldn't resist the pina colada swiss roll! It was a touch sweet for me (the buttercream in particular leaned the entire dish sweet) BUT I still loved it. We had the butternut squash dumplings...very good, the burrata with parsnips and wheat berries...also liked this, the banana bread grilled cheese...yummy with some element of heat to it, and the chicken pot pie johnny cakes...a little salty and one dimensional but not bad. Duck sliders......my highly fussy husband well, I didn't need to harass him to try them. He heard homemade buns and dove right in. Next thing I know he's eating mine!! I finally got to try this place. It is a scratch kitchen that uses locally sourced ingredients. The menu also changes often. I tried their chicken pot pie, crispy eggplant, and flanken ribs. The pot pie and the rib(s) were amazing. I loved all the textures in the pot pie and the flavors of the rib(s). I didn't like the eggplant quite as much. Service was fast. I was in the Pawtucket area and was looking for a restaurant to grab some bites. I came across Hangry Kitchen on Yelp and the menu enticed us as well as the name. My husband was feeling hangry (don't tell him I said that). I saw their hours on Tuesday were 04:00 pm - 09:00 pm and it was about 8:10 pm. We walked in and were seated immediately. There were 3 tables occupied. All the decor caught my attention. Each table had jewel-toned vintage glasses, purple napkins, orange seats, and dried blooms in vase as centerpieces. There are two life-size collages of Julia Child and Anthony Bourdain, owner and chef, Stacy Deetz's culinary heroes. We were informed that the Garlic Bread Shrimp was sold out, but there were plenty of other dishes we wanted to try. We ordered the Confit Baby Corn with bacon, chive, hot honey; Fricco Fries with cacio e pepe sauce; Beignets with bacon, swiss, scallion & potato filling, sour cream & chive dusting; Chicken Pot Pie Johnny Cakes with veggie studded corn cakes, pulled chicken, rich chicken gravy, pie crust crumbles; and for Hibiscus Panna Cotta for dessert. The Fricco Fries came first and these fries are shaped more like mozzarella sticks and has cheese and potato inside. It wasn't overly fried and just delicious with the cacio e pepe sauce. Great way to start the meal. The other dishes came out soon after. The beignets were fluffy. The Chicken Pot Pie Johnny Cakes were a star; the pulled chicken was tender, the gravy was luscious, just the whole dish was flavorful. I love Baby Corn and just having it with pieces of bacon, chive, hot honey was so yummy. The Hibiscus Panna Cotta for dessert was light and refreshing after a heavy meal. The whole meal was scrumptious. I would definitely come back to try their other dishes like the hotdog and scallops. There is also a nice outdoor dining area. When the check came, our server also bought meringue cookies. Total was $55.08 without tip and was definitely reasonably priced for all the food and its quality. Shy was our server and only works on Tuesdays so Tuesdays are called "Shy Tuesdays." Throughout the meal, we also spoke with Stacy Deetz's husband/co-owner, Robert. He told us about their journey moving from Boston to Virginia to RI and of opening Hangry Kitchen six months ago. Also, we learnt that Stacy and I have the same birthday! My husband and I were really exited to try this restaurant and it was quite a let down. The cabbage soup was lukewarm and under seasoned, the Norwegian fish stew wasn't hot, the fish was slightly overcooked and difficult to remove from the skin which was impossible to cut with a steak knife. The server took the item off the bill, but it was one of many issues. I ordered the steak tips, which had good flavor, but again wasn't hot, due to the overwhelming amount of cold dip, which may have been a blessing because the meat was already well done; the chips were also so salty you couldn't eat them. The jalapeño popovers and spaetzle were both good. The restaurant had a nice space and friendly staff, but execution on the food missed is some really basic areas. I had been hearing about this restaurant for a few weeks and as a big Top Chef fan I was so excited to see a former contestant open a restaurant down the street. It was AMAZING!!!! Service was impeccable. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and quick to get food out and the owner stopped to have a conversation with us. The menu is not huge (about a dozen apps and 6 entrees) and the drink list is extensive. We ordered the roti plate with pickled vegetables and our friends had the dumplings with miso butterscotch. The roti plate was substantial and everything scratch made. For my entree I had a perfectly prepared cod served with a spicy sauce and spinach dumpling. My friends had either the steak tips or wild boar and raved about it all. As a freebie they brought us coffee meringues. It's small so make a reservation. Everything about this place is amazing. The food was top notch. The service (Jake) was just fantastic. Jake suggested and then made us awesome mocktails. We had the squash dumplings, risotto, chicken pot pie Johnny cakes, and fricco fries for appetizers. For entrees, steak tips, and for dessert, RI coffee milk trifle, and lemon meringue pot de crème. WOW! Was recommended this place a bit ago and finally got around to trying it and omg! My only disappointment is that I haven't been sooner. The food is truly top tier. Creative, delicious, and super shareable which I love. With an amazing menu that changes weekly, this will quickly become a favorite to visit again and again. If you're already a foodie, or looking to expand your palette with some of the most innovative and absolutely divine food I've eaten in QUITE some time, then make this your next stop. Service is super friendly, so much so you almost feel like you're dining at your friend's house, if that friend was an A class chef. Atmosphere is unassuming, but cute and clean with a fun color palette. Indoor and outdoor options make it perfect for year round dining, plus be on the lookout for special dinners. What a great find! A few restaurants have come and gone from this space, which is kind of in a nowhere-ville in Pawtucket right over the border on North Main Street Providence near where Gold's Gym used to be. This spot has all the makings of places I like to eat in Rhode Island, i.e. it's a scratch kitchen (everything's made from scratch), local food, very seasonal, small plates to share, blah blah blah yummy yummy. My dining friend and I shared Hassleback potatoes, duck confit sliders, the house burger w/ cacio w pepe fries and some other stuff, all delicious. But what made this place 5 stars was the warm hospitality. If you've eaten around Providence, YOU KNOW you can get some hipster ass smug lackadaisical and somewhat neglectful or cold service, even at some of the better spots depending on where you go. Here though, it's run by a husband and wife team and because this spot has only been open a month or so, the hubs came by and was asking us for feedback and shared how his wife (the cook) was all about being creative in the kitchen, how she wrote a cookbook and worked at some bougie fine dining spots etc. You can tell the pride the hubs had for his wife (he brought the cookbook out w pride to show us) and how he genuinely cared about what we thought and solicited feedback to improve. I love that, and they even kindly brought out some homemade marshmallows for us to try w the delicious cocoa and some gingerbread cake bites that we were honestly so stuffed we couldn't finish. Wonderful service and great food by normal nice people. We need more of this in the restaurant world! I hope Hangry Kitchen flourishes and thrives. Food was very good to inspired. Service was friendly and the ambience is funky. Let's start with the food. Fricco fries, half churro, half cheese, sublime. Lamb-chetta, flavorful rounds of lamb, but quite chewy and difficult to cut with the provided cutlery, a funky looking swing open knife. Frankly, I'd prefer pork belly. Chicken pot pie with Johnny cakes were notable for the chicken skin crackling; I didn't find the chicken itself to be particularly tasty. The Honeynut squash and semolina dumplings were a stand out. This is not a conventional dumpling, rather they were shaped like meatballs and served in a delicate apple flavored sauce. So good that we dipped the Johnny cakes to soak up the goodness. The harvest salad was fairly standard fair. The East Beach blonde oysters were terrific, with clean shells; the cranberry mignonette could've used a touch more vinegar, and two of the six oysters did not have their bottom, abductor muscles cut, which made them difficult to eat. And while we were warned that the plates come out randomly, it would've been nice to have the oysters after the salad rather than for dessert. Kudos to Henri kitchen for using local ingredients, for a fine drink selection and a nice beer list. Unfortunately, I have to subtract a star because there is no restroom available for diners. We were told that the restroom was closed due to a health code violation, and directed to the restrooms at a nearby brewery. Despite the tasty dishes, not sure that I will repeat, given the lack of a restroom, and cannot recommend to others without this caveat. read more

So my family and I checked out Pawtucket's newest restaurant last Friday. Over all a great addition to Pawtucket. Very cute and eclectic atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and polite for being a busy Friday night. They only had 1 bartender on, which made getting our drinks on time difficult. It is a small place so hiring another bartender might not be an option but maybe training someone else on the wait staff as a fill in would help. The food delivery was fast so you can spare the time. The food was amazing with just 2 issues. While the flavor was on point the clam cakes were runny in the middle and the calamari was soggy and could have been crispier for our tastes. Definitely worth a visit. The gravlax toast, pot pie Johnny cakes, fricco fries, and risotto are must tries! read more
