Our favorite Indian restaurant in the area. We've only had takeout & I've actually never been inside, but my husband has never had any complaints while picking up our orders. We love the chicken tikka masala, matter paneer, and paneer tikka masala. We always order medium which I'd recommend and sometimes wish it was spicier but a little hesitant to try the hot. We started eating here a few years ago when my wife was living in Broad Ripple. It was totally worth the drive for what she (who has lived in Indy for 15 years) said was the best Indian she'd had in town. About a year ago we moved up to Fishers and the fact that we would be less than 10 minutes from this place was not irrelevant to buying the house we did! This is really, really good Indian. Unlike some places that tone down the spice level for midwesterners, Sizzling does NOT. The lasuni gobi appetizer is incredible. It's basically fried cauliflower in Indian wing sauce. Nice and spicy but not insane. We've found all of the spicy entree dishes to be excellent and would especially recommend the chicken chettinad and meen kolambu (a spicy fish curry). The chicken tikka masala is very good and our 13 and 10 year olds will eat it happily. The naan is quite good as well. The lunch buffet is a great way to get to know the place. Reasonably priced and a wider selection of dishes than you usually see (including that meen kolambu every so often). My only caution about the place is that their HVAC is wacky from time to time. At least once the a/c wasn't working and on one visit this winter, the heat seemed to be malfunctioning. Service is generally accurate and prompt. If you're looking for great, authentic Indian, this is the place on the northside, and it's worth a drive from elsewhere around town. read more

I have now been to India Sizzling twice, and have left pleasantly satisfied and happy each time. The service has been consistently good, with the server being attentive and courteous. So far I have tried my favorite Indian dishes, including the chicken tikka masala and the palak paneer, which have both been very tasty. It can be a bit pricey; however, the portion sizes make it easy to share family-style. The naan breadbasket is also a good choice if one wants to try a variety of different types of Indian breads. At my first visit, I was disappointed that they had run out of dosa, so I was happy to have the chance to try it at a recent visit. The filling was delicious and even the crepe was full of flavor, which I found surprising. I have yet to try out the buffet; hopefully I'll be able to go back to try it soon! read more

My wife and her colleagues went to India Sizzling on Friday June 9th 2017 for lunch buffet. The food that was on the buffet was old and tasted so bad. That is not it, the kheer/payasam that was on buffet was spoiled and my wife ate few spoons and came to know that it was off by the texture and taste of it. She told one of the staff, who then took away the desert. They did not apologize nor feel for the quality of food. When you pay for the food you expect it to be of certain good quality and the quality here sucks. Having moved from the east coast, one of my biggest regrets was the paucity of ethnic foods. We had our go-to Indian place and finding another was not trivial. We tried Amber in Carmel, and found the flavors to be lacking. Then India Sizzling was recommended to us and we tried it; we haven't had to look further, they have everything we need with the robust flavors we hoped for. Typically we do takeout which never disappoints. 4 stars because when we went for the lunch buffet, not only was the variety on the buffet limited, they were very stingy with naan. OK, I am from India, and know a thing or two about good Indian food ;) As a grad student in Indianapolis, me and my Indian buddies were always looking for cheap places to chow-down. And my! Am I glad I found India Sizzling? Well heck yea! I have tried almost all the Indian restaurants in and around town, and I can say, without second-guessing, that India Sizzling is a GREAT Indian restaurant. I am a frequent here, and I've got my girlfriend (who is from Michigan) hooked to Indian food, thanks to India Sizzling. These guys usually don't compromise on taste. The food tastes very much like it should. Even though they maintain authentic tastes, they do not make the food too spicy, so people who are not used to spicy food can actually eat here. Having a good number of natives at an ethnic restaurant is a good sign. India Sizzling manages to attract a descent number of people from the subcontinent. Everytime I have visited, I have seen at least 2-3 American families dining in the place. That is again a good sign. This clearly shows that this restaurant manages to maintain that delicate balance of spice and taste that attracts Indians and Americans alike. It is a BIG DEAL. Indians have a reputation of eating super-spicy food, and Americans have a reputation of eating super-bland food. A place that can manage to satisfy both palettes has got a good thing going, in my opinion. Let's talk about the food and service, shall we? I usually go there on the weekends during lunch. They have a lunch buffet everyday, and I get to choose from a good variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. They keep rotating their menu, because I have not found the same collection of dishes everytime I have visited. But, there are a few items that are standard on the buffet menu, and I am not complaining :) They always serve 'naan' (bread) and Dosa (type of pancake, not sweet though) with the food, so you have something to eat the curries with. No rice is served though. My favorites are: Chicken Tikka Masala, Chili Chicken, Palak Paneer and Carrot Halwa. My girlfriend likes: Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer, and a few other vegetarian dishes. She says she could totally be a vegetarian in India :) The sweets/desserts are not the best, but they are still OK after a hearty Indian meal. I have had better desserts at Amber/Bombay Garden. The ambiance is relaxed. No dress code. I hate dressing up for food, so a thumbs up to this place for not having any dress code. The owner is a south Indian lady who is always friendly and talks to you nicely. One thing I would like to point out is that waiters/owners of most Indian restaurants are not the most courteous and will not necessarily greet you with a painted smile and pretend to be happy. The are usually grumpy, but its just the cultural difference. I was also like that when I first came to the US, but changed quickly when I realized that such grumpy behavior in public places is usually considered rude. Most Indians never understand that, and just stay the way they are. So, the service is OK, I guess. Certainly not the best, but you will not be disappointed. And last, but not the least - price. For the sheer number of dishes that you get to choose from, and the overall quality of the food, they charge a moderate sum of money. Around $9-9.50 on the weekends and maybe a dollar less on weekdays (pardon me, I do not remember the exact amount). So, bottomline - Should you go and at least try this place out once - YES. Food was great and they have great decor. Coming from living in Chicago where there are some amazing india restaurants I was a little thrown off by the strip mall location. I'm used to a great little restaurant like this hidden in a corner or along the street with great outdoor seating. I do have to say the service was spectacular, but to note we were the only couple there because Indy folks are scared to death to venture out during Snowmagedan (3"to5"). But to our delight with our Indy natives/neighbors boarded up in their homes for hybernation for the winter we were able to enjoy some delightful service along with some amazing recommendations. In a sentence: Take it from this Indian girl from New Jersey, originally from London, this is the real deal. As far as good Indian food goes, this place is fantastic. Their food is amazingly tasty and they even feature some dishes which are remarkably "home-like" (as in, what I would expect to get at home if my own mother--who is an amazing cook--were serving). Quite honestly, I usually go for the buffet and I am always thrilled. Their Chicken Chettinad is amazingly my mom's Chicken Curry (that is to say, it's so, so good). It's also one of the few curry dishes they offer without cream (or much of it). I love their ponghal (for Gujurati people, this takes like kadi and bhaath, already mixed). Their food is well spiced, delicious, and never fails to make me happy. I have taken many people here, including my relatives from the UK who are used to fantastic Indian food. Worst customer service. I have visited 3 times and each time the owners / waiters behave in a very disrespectful manner. This is something not expected when we plan to go out for a good eating experience. Which I wide say is what a pathetic way of making food. Well. I have found my Fishers favorite, and anyone who knows me knows that this is a big deal since among my local lovin...I am a McAlisters Deli whore. BUT I will be forgoing McAlisters for a while to get some more one on one time with India Sizzling. I went for lunch which was perfect because there was a little corner booth where I could enjoy my lunch buffet and read quietly without any interruptions. There was EVERYTHING here. I mean, I couldn't even try it all because there was so much. The rice was so fresh and delicious...not like that kind that tastes like its right out of some premade bag or something, and the staff..AHHHH a breath of fresh air. So attentive, friendly, and helpful. They were great at keeping me (the solo lunch diva) and the group of 8+ professionals all happy while still keeping hot food coming, and just being plain old great. Best. Buffet. Ever Clean, beautiful, nicely decorated restaurant. You can come casual or dressed up. The staff is on point, and the food is so flavorful. I've eaten at all the Indian restaurants in the area. This is my favorite by a mile. I loved the chicken 65 (I think that's the name; it's breaded and fried perfectly). The dal halwa is an absolutely amazing dessert -- not too sweet but has a lovely cream of wheat like texture (but thicker). They serve goat and vegetarian and paneer. The naan is tasty and so are the pakoras. I can only eat here once a month because I eat enough calories for a week. Four of us ate like kings at the buffet for $48 (tax included) on a Sunday. read more

I will go so far as saying its the best Indian food I've had outside of India :-O My lunch buffet faves: Channa Chaat (I love that its a little bit different each weekend. Yes, I have been here multiple back-to-back weekends) Dosa (always order the mysore masala its a little spicy) Sambar (there are many ways to make sambar and they make it different ways each weekend. Its not watered down - added bonus) Pongal (this is my comfort food, I need a second stomach just for the pongal. They make is like my grandma would make) Fried vada/pakora (changes each week) Manchurian (ahh indian chinese....) I hardly make it to the vegetables and naan part. Came for the lunch buffet today and noticed some changes - unfortunately not for the good. Most noticeably, the clientele changed from mostly Indian to 100% non-Indian. Could it be just an unusual day? I didn't spot a single native among the 8 or so tables that were occupied, which brings me to the second change: weekend lunch has gone from "need to wait in line" to "only 1/3 full". OK, it was a rainy day, but I doubt that was the only reason, which brings me to the next sad change: the food. The tandoori chicken in particular was barely flavorful. I tried 4 pieces, spread out over time. Sadly they were all bland. Not all is lost. The staff is still friendly, the goat curry that keeps me coming back is still good, and they still bring fresh hot naan to your table (no dosa, but I didn't care for it anyway). However, the shortcomings mean they've lost their edge to other Indian restaurants in the area. I've liked this place for years and hope my next visit will see a return to its better days (minus the long lines :)). read more

Tasty food. Lazy and arrogant waiter. My wife's food made her sick. Almost a complete failure. Go for takeout or don't go at all. (And have some Pepto ready if you have a sensitive stomach) Took my wife here tonight for her birthday. She decided she wanted to go out to eat at the last minute so we brought along our 1 year old since it was too late to find a babysitter. The 20-something waiter screwed up our order (easily forgivable) but then he made us feel completely unwelcome (never forgivable). He eventually brought my wife a knife to cut up the golfball-sized chicken in her curry dish...after we all but blow-darted him and drug him back to our table. 10 minutes after we were clearly finished eating, my wife desperately trying to corral our hyperactive toddler to our abandoned corner of the restaurant, we make eye contact with mr. waiter and ask for to-go boxes. 10 more minutes later and a different waitress finally delivers the check and asks if we want to-go boxes for our food. I left a $7 tip on our $38 meal. Far more than the service warranted. But I felt bad that our child created such a mess while we waiting so long for service. read more

This is my neighborhood Indian restaurant, and what a lucky feller I am! I've been going here since they opened, going back because of the emphasis on a big explosion of flavor- not just heat. They'll give you that if you want it, but even served Midwestern White Guy mild, you're going to get an amazing burst of flavors from any dish. I took a Indian friend here, and he verified the food to me as the real deal. He's from Mumbai, so I trust his take on authenticity. There are always Indian families here at dinner time, and that tells me something. The lunch buffet is also good. A little higher price than most lunch buffets, but I'm always happy to splurge. Unlike many buffets, the quality of the food doesn't suffer greatly here. The service can be slow here, but I don't mind it. The decor is interesting, with a lot of copper colors and a warm, cozy feel. If I have to recommend only one restaurant in Fishers, speaking as a resident of the Town, this is the one. read more

Waited the entire window of time and drove to restaurant for pickup only to be told that they did not have my food, and that their grub hub was not up. It is STILL UP online and will allow you to order from them. The person who told me this was rude and walked away without offering any sort of solution. I have eaten in the restaurant before as well and the service is terrible and you have to flag down a waiter for everything, sometimes being ignored as well. As good as it gets in central indiana. I have been on many occasions for the lunch buffet and this is mostly a good exchange of what ends up being $12.00 for unlimited very good food and service. My servers have always been attentive with the water and bread. One time, my stomach was upset but I still went to the lunch buffet thinking that it would subside after I had eaten a bit. I did not, and after a few bites I needed to leave for how uncomfortable I felt. I explained the situation to the manager and he insisted that I leave with a to go box full of food and fresh nan bread. I have ordered the dosa and veg biryani as a la cart entrees and they were excellent. Dosa was crisp and full of fresh ingredients while the biryani was HOT in the best of ways. read more
