Buffet - chicken lollipop, fried fish, chicken reshami kebab, mutton rogan josh , chettinad chicken, naan

Even though I don't live in Indianapolis anymore, I try to find time for an annual pilgrimage to India sizzling's lunch buffet on one of my visits to the city. They have one of the among the most satisfying and broad Indian buffet offerings outside of Chicago in the Midwest. Plan to be at the buffet with an empty stomach that's growling because there's just too much to choose from! There's a dosa station to custom make dosas the way you want - a masala dosa for me. Their naan is perfectly smokey and served at the table as soon as you start. The curries all have unique flavors , meaning they haven't been made from a single curry base. The goat rogan josh is perfectly cooked with the mutton turning out very tender and oozing with flavor. The gobi Manchurian batter tastes very different from the chicken 65 - which is what one would expect from an authentic Indian restaurant that cares about the food it produces. The chicken 65 is bone in and must try if it's there. Note that you probably won't find butter chicken at the buffet. The biryani whether it's vegetarian, chicken or mutton is amazing. On the vegetarian side, there are regional dishes such as rasam, sambar or potato variyal. There's puri Bhaji and chaat. The service is very attentive. The restaurant is busy with tables and buffet lines filled with families and people of all kinds. You'll leave in a food coma and with a feeling that few other Indian restaurants are going to match the experience you've just had here.

We came here for our friends birthday and I'm so glad we did! This was the first time dining in but I have had take-out from here a couple times. The food has always been incredible and we wanted to dine-in for a different experience. I cannot express how incredible our experience was. The staff was SO extremely nice. Ravi was our server but he was more than that. He was very personable and talked to us about life and how cook the food and just conversed with us like he was our friend. Not only was he great, everyone was so friendly and nice. For the table, we tried something new to all of us - vegetable samosas. Not sure what was in them but they came fried with two dipping sauces (a mint one and a date one). They were pretty good and little spicy. Then for our entrees we ordered garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and biryani. You can NEVER go wrong with chicken tikka masala or garlic naan. They serve huge portions so I am always excited for leftovers. The friendly service and conversation was a huge addition to the incredible food we were served. Also, once Ravi found out it was our friends birthday, he offered us some Indian dessert on the house that was similar to a fried donut but it was soaked in some kind of honey lavender sauce. It was good and different. In addition to all of the above, I LOVED the metal wire artwork on the walls. They were so cool and intricate. If you look on their website it explains that a local artist named Steve Wright designed buildings and places in Bombay, India out of metal wire. Super impressive! I can't wait to come visit again!

The country music playing which was a little off-theme but it wasn't too loud and you can easily have a conversation across a table. Service was very attentive and food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. Food: For appetizers we got the vegetable pakora and vegetable samosas which were solid. There were 8 pakora per order so super easy to share and 3 samosas which are massive so you can easily split these in half if needed. For those wondering, "momos" are essentially the Tibetan/mongolian version of chinese dumplings which subsequently spread southwest to Nepal. We got the traditional Nepali, Chilli Yak, Chilli Chicken, and Chicken C versions which essentially covered the steamed, fried, and soup style preparations of dumplings. All of them were honestly delicious and different enough from one another we didn't feel like we duplicated flavors. The favorite was the Chilli chicken on if you have to pick just one to try. The traditional nepali thali is a dinner set that comes out on a bronze plate, I got mine with lamb curry which was very tender and not too gamey tasting at all. The basmati rice was fluffy and it comes with daal soup, cauliflower, a fermented pickle relish, and one of those syrup soaked balls (gulab jamun). It is quite filling so come hungry if you order this. The chow mein here is unique. It is NOT like Cantonese chow mein which uses a soy + oyster sauce base but instead the Nepalese version adds ketchup and chili sauce so it actually tastes like a hybrid between the chinese dish and spaghetti. It is actually quite tasty and worth a try if you're a fan of either dish. The naan here comes out a little bit oily but otherwise is fluffy and tasty, did not regret ordering it. Overall this place justifies it's 5 star rating. The flavors are punchy and delicious, the portions are massive, and the prices very reasonable especially the inflation nowadays. Would strongly encourage any to go out of their way to give this place a try.

Four of us tried Punjabi Tadka after looking at the review. We ordered Chicken Soup, Soya Chaap, Tandoori Shrimp as Appetizers. Good thing they gave us the soup completely bland without any salt, pepper and I liked the idea as the guests can season it as per their need. 07 out of 10 Soya chaap was hard, lacked flavour and the chutneys served didn't help enhance it either. 04 out of 10 Tandoori Shrimp was basically shrimp covered in tandoor masala and cooked on a pan. The onions and green peppers served were soggy with the masala. Highly disappointing but we expected better from the Main course. 03 out of 10 Main course we ordered garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and chicken noodles to begin with. Chicken noodle was mostly spaghetti in marinara sauce with chunks of chicken. We couldn't eat after 1 - 2 spoons. We had to return it. 01 out of 10 Naan was fluffy and the best of the dishes we tried at Punjabi tadka, 09 out of 10. Chicken tikka masala was just a very sweet tomato gravy that made us somehow finish the naan 03 out of 10. Apart from the food though the staff was polite but he lacked common etiquettes. After appetizers and before the main course, he would bring the larger plates to the table without even cleaning the table. We had to ask him to clean the table while we held the plates. We had to find the person to fill in the water bottle and the bottles were not very user friendly. The bill was around 90 USD without the noodle which is fair for a team of 4 but the quality of dishes were not up to the mark. Again I hope it was due to Sunday evening staff crunch.
