Hmmmm. Wanted to like this place. I try to support just about any restaurant offering a buffet, especially South Asian restaurants. The Good: - The price is definitely on the more reasonable side. - The decor is very nice and clean. - The one waiter was very pleasant and attentive (I'm thinking maybe it is the owner). The Not-So-Great: - Most of the flavors of the food are off. The Aloo Matar was bland. The Chicken Korma was way heavy on the cardamom. The Palak Paneer was oddly sweet. The Dal Makhani was crunchy and undercooked. The Tandoori Chicken was dry and underseasoned. The chili cauliflower was too mushy and sweet. There was a strange item like an inverted grilled cheese sandwich with a tomato soup filling? Didn't quite know what to make of that. The rice, veggie spring rolls and naan were passable. - The music streaming from the TV was aggressive and distracting since the signal kept going out. It would go from loud and clamorous to dead silent frequently. There were barely any customers there which is never a good sign. I'm not feeling very positive about this place staying in business for very long. I'll just say that there's way better competition out there to make it unlikely I'll return. I hope they figure out a better formula. read more

Visiting family and from a place that has almost no Indian food, so I was excited to have some of my favorite cuisine. I ordered food to go, to bring it back to my mother-in-law's and feed us all. Personally I got the non-vegetarian Thali Dinner... it was fantastic! I received more food that I could have imagined for $22, and among it all was a lamb samosa that I can only describe as my favorite new comfort food I never knew I longed for. I've never had one, not sure I would have ordered one had it not come with the dinner, and can't explain the favor other than to say iykyk. And I will go back here just for them alone. It tastes like being welcomed home. But also the curry was delicious. My kids got their own butter chicken and finished mine too. And to top it all off the kheer (rice pudding) was a perfect compliment to ensure I could eat no more. While my wife and I waited (we ordered there) we were offered water, and given little glasses of their mango lassi (a lovely and hospitable gesture that made us hope the food was good so we wanted to come back all the more). We've already talked about taking the family there next time, because it feels like a place that is glad you've come, and the food is hella good! read more

We ordered take out from this restaurant and they were fast! Food was hot and very good. We got the butter chicken, garlic naan, and the non-veg thali dinner. The thali dinner is great if you want to get a lot of different items to try! They also give you naan and rice with your butter chicken which I really appreciate! read more

You ever been so wrong that you're actually glad you were wrong? Yeah. That was me tonight with India Village (aka the former India Palace). I was driving home, craving Indian food, fully prepared to go to my old standby for chicken saag. On a whim, I took a risk - and let me tell you... we are BACK, baby. Back in business. The food tasted exactly how I remembered it - rich, comforting, and honestly even better than before. I'm so glad they changed hands and came back as India Village because you know what, the village people (aka me), missed you! And somehow the service managed to outshine the food (which says a lot). The front of house lady who took my order over the phone was incredibly kind, but she was somehow even more pleasant in person. Didn't think that was possible, yet here we are. They've also clearly put love into the space. The aesthetic upgrades are noticeable and thoughtful - inside looks refreshed, the outside is well lit, the lot is cleaned up, and those overgrown plants are finally under control. It feels like a glow-up done the right way. I'm already planning a daytime visit this weekend because... yeah, I'm hooked again. Bonus surprise: menu updates! Entrees like the chicken saag now come with rice AND naan - which was absolutely not a thing before. A very welcome change. And I cannot leave without mentioning the lamb samosas. The crunch. The savory goodness. Truly unbelievable. Honestly, thank goodness they only come two to an order, because if they didn't, I'd be ordering a dozen and calling it dinner. I'd be a full HOUSE. The owner said the buffet isn't always the same items (I am confident it is always delicious though)! A fabulous lunch for two for under $40 - yes, please!! Sadly our go to spot closed and we forced ourselves to find a replacement go to. We ordered Indian food online and had a great overall experience. They were very attentive to our special dietary requests, which we really appreciated. It's a friendly, family-owned business and you can feel that warmth right away. The portion sizes are generous, and the inside ambience is clean and welcoming. There's also plenty of parking in their private lot, which is always a plus. We upgraded to the thali, which came with the curry of the day, naan, rice, and a samosa with two sauces--great value. My mixed vegetable curry was flavorful and delicious just as it was. His chicken tikka masala was good at first and honestly even better after sitting for a couple of days and letting the flavors stew. Some inconsistencies, but for the most part, a solid 3. I LOOOVED the ambiance. Not so much the restaurant decorations one would expect in an Indian restaurant (they had that), but the artwork on the walls were amazing. I kept looking at them throughout my meal, as opposed to my phone. The sole gentleman seemingly running everything by himself was very nice, and water and Naan were always on the table. Now then...the food. Typical Indian buffet standards. I had chicken Tikka masala, goat curry, samosa, palak paneer, and tandoori chicken. The flavors were amazing. The goat was a little chewy, but still good Why only a 3 stars? Well....ALL of the food was....warm? There was little steam coming from the buffet table, and everything was room temperature. Super hole in the wall place. This is family owned. I always support local business. I ordered take out today. It took 25mins. It was empty today I was surprised, but inside is every spacious and clean. If you're in the area for some good REAL Indian food then this is your spot. Please come support !! The restaurant is tucked in behind a business park so I wasn't sure if my navigation was taking me to the correct place at first. I ordered pickup on a weekday after work. The employee who answered the phone was super friendly and happy to answer my questions about their spice level, etc, as it was my first time ordering from here. I ordered the Muttar Paneer with a side of the daily vegetable. Just wish the rice portion was the same size as the paneer to balance out. The food was so delicious! I add spiciness in all my cooking and ordered the medium level and it was perfect. I love Indian food and tried many Indian restaurants. This is my favorite so far in the Sacramento area. Tried Indian Village for the first time today! They have a lunch buffet and I thought all of the food was fresh and delicious! Really a beautiful array of Indian food :) If you haven't tried Indian food then I recommend going here when they have their buffet special so that you can try a little bit of everything and discover your favorites. Some of my favorites today were the tikki masala, butter chicken, the chicken leg in the photo -- fabulous lime flavor to it -- and the naan bread. We moved to the area recently and this has been hands-down our favorite new spot. The people are always nice, food is consistently so good, & even had my kids finish their veggies before desert! I went in around 1 pm and expected to see more diners. I was greeted and offered any table I wanted as there were so few diners. My first impression was of the cleanliness of the place. It looked clean but also "felt" clean. The place is spacious and there are colorful murals on the walls. There were several TVs playing Indian music videos. I opted for the buffet and noted the "eat all you want but take only what you will eat" sign at the beginning of the buffet. I appreciated the reminder. There were a variety of meat and veg options. I love Papadams with tamarind and it pleased me to see that was available. There was a small salad section - cucumbers, some lettuce. The lettuce was a bit wilted but I enjoyed the cucumbers with the yogurt sauce. Chai was also included in the buffet. I tried the goat dish, butter chicken, rice, dal, delicious Naan,and some sort of battered and fried veggie thing. The fried veggie thing was not very good. It was more dough than veg and not very well seasoned. Everything else was quite tasty but was not as hot - temperature wise - as I would have liked. Even though there were few diners, the cook replenished several dishes throughout the service which ended at 2:30. My only concern was that I saw the cook drop off a fresh batch of Naan with the Manager/Owner? who was on the phone and had been doing work - cleaning tables, etc - and he used his ungloved hands to break the bread into smaller pieces and then set it on the buffet. That knocked down my sense of cleanliness overall. I do plan to return though. The price of $16.99 was most reasonable for these times and the food was definitely worth eating. Please just be mindful of going back and forth between various tasks and not wearing clean gloves when directly handling food. I am both elderly and immunocompromised and do not like risking my health because of improper food handling. read more

Truly the best Indian food ever. Everything is full of flavors with unique tastes comparative to other Indian restaurants I have visited , the owner and his wife are wonderful people that somehow make you feel more than welcome-but rather at home. The mango lassi never dissipates, the appetizers (though never usually a category I partake in) are exceptional here. I went here with coworkers for the $16.99 lunch buffet. The restaurant is unassuming and I wasn't sure if it was actually open when we arrived. If you are there for the buffet you just walk in and grab a plate and seat yourself. The server was friendly and buffet food was refilled quickly. The spiciest item I got was not too spicy for me to handle, which was really nice. (The spice level I can handle is similar to spicy mayo.)
