Shout out to my daughter's elementary school PTA for setting up some food truck to take part in our Back To School Night. Without them I would never have known Indian Express existed... Indian Express's offerings for the evening consisted of 4 different kind of curries, rice & bread combos. My purchase of the night was the mango lassi & veg samosas. The mango lassi was good. My only regret was not being able to snap a photo prior to it being devoured by my very thirsty toddler. The drink was sweet and tart- all at the same time. Addictive and easy to drink being that the textures wasn't super thick. The 2pc samosas were great!! The outer shell was crisp and the vegetable filling was piping hot, flavored well with the array of spices. The chutney was sweet with a slight note of spice- tasty to say the least but not exactly necessary IMO. 4 stars. I recommend the samosa chaat. It was soooo good I wanted to dance in my seat while eating it. It had just enough samosa pieces that you can enjoy the entire dish without feeling overwhelmed by the other ingredients. Just a hint of spiciness. The chickpeas, yogurt, tamarind chutney and crispy sev (chickpea noodles) toppings covering the samosas was like finding a treasure with every bite. The samosa itself was very good, too. The butter chicken and parata combo was also exceptional. Butter chicken was on a sweeter side, not spicy at all but still has the familiar tomato and spices flavor of butter chicken. The chicken in the curry was cut in bite sized pieces which I appreciate because it makes it easier to eat. Chicken also has it own flavor, not bland. The paratha was the best one I've had. The combo me with two pieces. Paratha was not too oily. It's flaky, soft and gets denser toward the center. Texture was not doughy. Both dishes did not disappoint. The girl the orders was patient and pleasant when other customers were asking questions about the food. Paid $25 total for both dishes. Only downside is the wait to get the food; took 19 minutes after paying. Would have been a 5 star if wait was not long. Found the lm at the Dillo Haat at Kelly Park in SJ. They are here at the Riverview apartments next to the leasing office in North San Jose every Wednesday and Fridays. I liked everything here but my most favorite was, their Dahi papdi chat. It has the perfect mix of ingredients with the right crunchiness. A MUST TRY! The owner is very nice and friendly. 5+ stars for the customer service 4 stars for food Found this place on Yelp and called them to ask where they were located on a Thursday noon. They informed us that they were in the eBay parking lot. By the time we dragged ourselves from where we were in Sunnyvale to eBay, they had already left the spot. Upon calling the owner I was informed that they had just left and they will drive back for us. Since my friend (who was visiting me from Canada) was really excited to try their authentic Tamil Chicken Biryani after reading the raving reviews, I thought I could live with one day of impoliteness and let them drive back. After profuse thanking on out part and apologizing for leaving on their part we ordered a chicken biryani and a vegetarian meal. My friend liked the Biryani and attested the authentic Tamil Biryani claim. I liked my 3 curries as well. ( usually it comes with two curries and salad, but since I was confused between two curries, the very nice owner decided to give me all three and skip the salad). The serving size of both the items was good for two people. Definitely bang for your buck. If I was working at one of those buildings I wouldn't mind a homecooked-like meal at doorstep. Although I am not sure if I will specially drive to them, just to get lunch. Will go again to try their dosa though. They have lunch stops and Cisco and Ebay buildings. [Update Jan 2017] The owner reached out after I gave them a review and I realized that I had made mistakes on my previous review. I am updating the two places accordingly. This food truck is parked outside the eBay campus and it is very convenient to get food from them during lunch. Two of us had gone to get food from them. As we approached the truck, we saw the menu posted next to the window. I took the rice combo which had fried rice, two chappati (Indian bread) lettuce, a fried egg with runny yolk and two curries. You could choose from the list and I asked for fish curry and veg khorma (veg curry). My friend took the chicken Kothu paratha. Both our orders cost us $10 [updated: previously I had said $10 + tax which is not the case]. They use square to take payments and have the chip reader device with them. What I did not like about the cashier is that after he swiped my card, he performed the signature himself on the square app [update: I was informed that signature is not required for smaller denomination swipes] We had to wait less than 5 min to get our food. While the rice was a little bland, the curries were well seasoned. The fish curry was a little too oily for my taste, though the fish seemed to be fresh. Overall I liked the to go box that he gave me. He did, however, forget to give me any plastic silverware [Update: Plastic Silverware is placed next to the board and customers can help themselves. I apparently didn't notice that, so apologize for he wrong review] Because the food was nice, the service was quick (including my signature being done on square on my behalf) and the experience was pleasant I am giving them four stars. Second trip to the food truck. The food remains constitantly good. I decided to get the biryani again based on my good experience last time around. And the food did not disappoint. The rice was well with cardamom, fennel, Bay leaves, cloves, star anise, cilantro and mint. The boneless pieces of meat were tender and moist. The cashew nuts were a nice touch. A little on the spicy side, thanks to chilli powder and green chilli peppers - just the way I like it, and reminding me of home. The truck came by near eBay today, I just thought to try it out. Checked out the prices were between 6$-10$ on average. They serve variety of south and north indian. As i like little bit spicy food, i tried Kothu (Minced) Paratha, which tasted reasonably good. Best part was it was prepared from scratch right there on the spot.
