Came to this place for a quick stop and got their dahi sev batata puri. The picture in ad shows 9 but we got just 6. The yogurt/dahi used was old and the green chutney was a ready made one from the store as clearly seen in the picture. There was little to no potato filling and we had to throw the food after one bite of the poori. The service took time and definitely felt exorbitant for 9.81$ Definitely avoid this place, save your tummy and try the other food trucks around. I have been wanting to try this food truck in a while. Everytime I am on a walk I would pass by the truck and It'd be closed but today was the day. Ordered shahi chai and osmania biscuits. Both excellent. The owner was extremely sweet to offer us free paneer pakodas. It was so tasty that we ended up ordering shahi stuffed kulcha and amritsari kulche chole which she packed neatly for takeout. Honestly I liked everything. I will definitely be going back. read more

This food truck used to be located on El camino real close to Apni Mandi Bazaar. I was initially excited to try them when I learned that they have now relocated to Santa Clara. I was really disappointed by the live pani puri here. Food: They have increased the price of a plate to 6.99 (which increases your minimum spend at the store for pani puris). Second, their five types of pani, which was pretty good are now barely tasty. Only the mint pani was eatable. Third, they skimp on the filling per puri - we literally got one peas and very little potato for one puri, which was barely sufficient. Their strategy is to fill you up less and make you buy more plates. Service: The live pani puri guy is confused and stressed. Can do better when interacting with customers. Ambiance : The food truck is parked next to a supermarket and there are two parking spots right next to it. Barely any space for a larger number of people to be there. Their earlier location next to Ketli Chai was much better. Overall they score poorly on all fronts and I'd not be coming here again. read more

Saw this truck a few days ago and had wanted to visit for a while. Went late on a Sunday night around 10PM, not many options around. Food: 3.5 stars (I couldn't round off to 4) The Paneer Pakora was REALLY good. I saw that it said $10 for 7 pieces and thought that was expensive compared to the other dishes. But the price was totally justified given the thick slice of paneer. They were really generous with the portion there. Usually, you get a thin slice of paneer in most places. It was delicious as well. The other dishes, not as great. Got the Stuffed Kulcha with chole, and I have had this dish before elsewhere, I did not think the chole was super flavorful. It was okay, I'd say. My friend got the Dahi Batata Sev Puri which was average too, your typically dahi batata sev puri tends to have more of a burst of flavors. Also the Pani Puri wasn't a good choice here. They did not have an Imli based pani (water) and just had the mint water. I'd skip this dish. Will definitely come back for the paneer pakora and maybe the thali, but not the other chaat items which don't have the full masala chole (kulcha didn't have this!) They were very nice to offer us some complimentary chai! read more

i've passed these food trucks along el camino in sunnyvale so many times and finally tried them out. shahi chaat n chai mainly has live pani puri, chaat, and some other plate meals. i got the dahi batata sev poori ($8.99). it tasted good but was overflowing with yogurt so a bit hard to eat and got a little soggy toward the end. it's a little expensive given the dish/ingredients/ambiance. there is limited seating in the parking lot. they take cash and card. read more

I remember going to the previous Sunnyvale location sometime back. Back then, the Pani Puri was decent and the service was good. I visited the place recently and had pani puri. I didn't like the taste at all! - Most of the flavors were pretty bad: The only decent flavor was Mint. Kaala Katta, Khatta Meeta, Pomegranate and Mango tasted pretty bland. - They literally add the smallest amount of filling possible. Like the smallest piece of Aloo/Onion/Channa inside the puri. - Pani was very cold: I'm not looking for perfect room temperature, but it was way too cold in my option. - The Puri was way too crispy for me. We stopped by Shahi chaat for an early evening dinner and were surprised by the tasty Samosa Chaat and crispy and fresh Paneer Pakora. Skip the Shahi Chole Kulcha - tastes like a deep fried burger stuffed with Chole gravy! Nothing fancy. Service was friendly and fast! However it's a food truck and I was expecting much much better food. By better I meant more street style and authentic probably. With so many Indian restaurants around Bay Area who whip up amazing chaats and snacks, I feel they have a tough competition! Its always a pleasure to try the love panipuri here at shahi chhat. The price is very reasonable for the quality of food thats being provided here. My fav one is the Kulchs with chana. The spices level hits you on the spot and is very flavorful. The lady who thakes the order is very polite & respectful. The service is always quick & easy. It's located just inside of a used car parking lot. We ordered a dahi batata sev puri, stuffed kulcha, veggie thali and gulab jamun. The dahi batata sev puri was good but that's kind of where it ended. The stuffed kulcha was pretty disappointing as a dish and priced quite high for what it actually is - baked chickpeas in a bun with some garnishes, no real flavor to it. On the veggie thali the paneer gravy was good but the rice was overcooked and the dal lacked flavor. With the number of options (superior at that) in this area, can't see us coming back. read more

This is in a used car lot so sometimes parking is easier some times it can be a bit of a challenge. There are 3 good size tables for seating. You order at the truck and they bring their food out to you. Our order was incorrect but it wasn't a big deal because the food is so delicious. I like that it's Indian food with a California spin. Four of us came to Shahi Chaat on a Monday night at around 9pm looking for some food at a somewhat late time. Glad we came upon this place because we all really enjoyed it! I am no Indian food connoisseur but these channas were delicious along with the variety of breads. Everything tasted very fresh and the fried foods were freshly fried (super hot to the touch). The veggie pakora was delicious along with the two chutneys it came with. We were super full by the end, and it seemed very reasonably priced. This appears to be a new place, and the chaat here is quite good and reasonably priced. The bhel puri is fresh and flavorful and not too spicy, the aloo chaat is spicier but flavorful and the samosas are also really good. It doesn't look like a lot of people know about this place yet because there wasn't a line on a weekend evening. Definitely check it out! read more

Tried this new place out and I am glad I did. They have variety of options to choose from. I ordered channa poori and stuffed kulcha. The poori was fresh, soft yet crispy and the channa amazing with the right amount of spice. I ended up ordering more of it. The stuffed kulcha was tastier than I anticipated with bread glazed with butter which made it so soft and some tangy chutneys and channa inside. To top it off, the complimentary chai was delicious.
