Authentic North Indian food in Ventura County, South Indian biryanis are ok. I love thier nann

My wife has had a hard time finding an Indian food restaurant she likes since our favorite closed a few years ago. We opted to try this place based on the reviews here. We will add to the praise. Each plate gives you two entrees and rice, enough for a couple of meals, if you order a side of veg. We enjoyed everything and plan to return soon. We did take out. The food was ready on time. Don't trust the hours, they open when every they feel like. Not a good way to run a business

It's a hole on the wall so does speaks, my experience wasn't as I expected to be, it maybe authentic to others but, having travelled to India from the south to the end of north and back, I've eaten everything from vegetarian to meat and all flavors are all different from one region to another, although I was craving for Indian food so I've tried Indian Rasoi, will not go back again read more

Got an alert on my phone about a new Indian restaurant in Ventura and I'm so glad I tried it! I got the chicken tikka masala, mixed vegetables with naan bread and mango lassi drink. Everything was robust and flavorful and the food had the perfect amount of spice for me. The place is kind of small so it's easy to miss but it does have seating inside if you want to dine in and side street parking out front. It's very clean inside and the staff is friendly and will help guide you on the dishes. There's even an a la carte option aside from the dishes they rotate out front. The best part is that you get a lot of food and it is relatively inexpensive. I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed the taste of the food and I can't wait to go back and try more things over and over. Hidden gem, HIGHLY recommend!! read more

We have been here 2 times now. Both times we ordered the 2 item plates. I think so far we have tried the chicken tikka, butter chicken, chicken curry, mixed veg, and veg korma. Everything is really flavorful, great prices, and generous portions. We tried the garlic naan as well which is very tasty with lots of fresh garlic. I don't know what else to say - it's honestly just a really solid spot for something fast, tasty and affordable. The guys working here are also super nice, and they even have hot tea you can help yourself to. They sometimes give free samples or treats (we got some pakoras our first time) and you can tell it's because they really love what they do and it shows with the delicious food and friendly service! read more

Good food, decent price. I had the plate that includes 2 entrees; had the chicken vindaloo which was tasty and spicy, also had the vegetable curry which was decent. The cashier was friendly and was nice enough to offer me some spicier chili oil while I was eating. Only downside was that the chai was not as hot as I would have liked. This place is so good! They're chicken tikka masala bowl is great especially if you're in a hurry. They offer a lot of food prepared to order and have some things a la cart ready to go in case you're in a hurry. I'll be back a few times a week now that I've got this down the street. read more

Coming back from Ojai framers market, I decided to check out Indian Rasoi.I was eager to give it a try knowing that the owners once ran the now closed Maharaja on Thompson Blvd here in Ventura, which I was a huge fan of.Not only of the amazing food / buffet,but the hospitaly of the staff that I befriended over the years.Needless to say I was very happy with the food and the brothers running the front of the house where spot on as far as hospitality goes. Glad to see you back up running.It's not the grand big Maharaja style restaurant, but if you're in good Indian food on the run and at a great price, this place is for you. I'm so thrilled this place exists in Ventura. It's truly one of the only takeout spots worth the money that is also open (relatively) late in town, even on Sundays and Mondays. I had a plate with butter chicken and chicken korma and both were delicious, as was the garlic naan. It was ready so quickly and the people working were extremely nice when i went to pick it up. This spot is a small counter type restaurant with a limited menu, but everything tasted delicious. I'm pretty picky with my Indian food and vegetarian. I was a little nervous because I wasn't asked about spice level, but it turned out to be perfectly spiced. UPDATE Second time trying it was a lot better, I noticed my food had more flavor. Also I asked for it to be extra spicy and they nailed it. Keep it up! Tasty curry, although I felt like it was missing something. Not sure if it was heat or just a little spice. Would definitely come back. read more

First experience was good, probably the best Indian food in Ventura. Second time, ordered over the phone since GrubHub wasn't working for me, girl on the phone was super rude, she kept speaking over me and saying "mmm hmm" and kept rudely asking if I was done ordering multiple times. If I am about to spend $60 on a to go order and you want return customers, I would expect better cusomter service. I'm all about customer service hence the reason for 3 stars. May not return just because of the bad customer service. read more

I've lived Los Angeles, San Francisco, Palm Springs, and New York (where there was the entire 6th ave block of "the best" Indian restaurants) AND THIS LITTLE RESTAURANT JUST BEAT THEM ALL. This is our FAVORITE restaurant in Ventura!! The Indian curry is amazing, all with very dynamic flavor profiles and tastes. The garlic naan is also amazing as is the mango lassi. (I can't name anything I don't enjoy eating!) I love that we can pop in and out to grab our "curry in a hurry" as the quote on their wall says. The food here is always amazing! We live in Santa Barbara but make a point to stop here every time we drive through Ventura. The naan is always flaky and soft, never hard. Their saag paneer is a great vegetarian option and the best I've ever had, I get it every time I go. My boyfriend loves their chicken tikka masala, we've also had their vegetable korma and chana masala, all have been so good! The portions are also very generous for the price. Omg!!!! A hidden DELICIOUS gem!!!! My neighbors told me about this place but since I recently moved to SB I haven't been down in Ventura lately. Well after picking up my car I decided to head by and grab something to go. After sampling the korma I knew I was in trouble. I left with the chicken curry, korma and an a la carte of the tadka dal. My taste buds and stomach were oh so happy!!! The gentle man and his father (I believe) were so kind and courteous. Smiles on their faces and very willing to make the tadka dal for me to go. Well, today I went there again! (Thanks VW for making a piece of poop car so I can at least get out of this world food). I got the chicken tikka. Let's just stop right there. Ummmm hello!
