Every time I visit this place, I'm reminded just how good food can be, & the effect it can have deep within your soul. There are plenty of okay & good Indian restaurants in the area, but this one is GREAT. Truly a step up from the rest! Every dish I have tried is brimming with more flavor than I thought possible, and can be customized to your spice preference (I love spicy food). I read mixed reviews but decided to have my friend try Indian for the first time and I was so upset because this just didn't quite reflect all the local Indian food in the area. I ordered the most basic item. Garlic naan and two chicken tikkas. Having not been here before I wasn't sure on the spice so out of 7 we went 3 and 4. It's always hard to know the spice. Peoples reviews of the tikka sauce are true. It's very sweet and tomato like and very thin and runny. Also we each had to add about a tsp if straight cayenne just to really add heat as it wasn't spicy at all. CTM is a staple of all Indian places it just didn't seem quite right in try taste.z However I do need to mention, I order door dash, it was there my name clearly marked for pick up, it was super hot so I could tell it was fresh. It all stayed hot until I made the 6 minute drive home. It was good enough to eat the left overs bits the flavor in general was so bland, very sweet, the spice level was off and my friend doesn't want to try Indian food again. read more

We went there on a weekday because my wife has dairy and gluten (as well as egg) allergies. We don't eat out often as a result but looked at the menu online and it seemed as if the restaurant had a few choices for us. We went early knowing that we'd probably have to talk to the chef or owner about the menu and what we could safely eat. The hostess (I think one of the owners) was very nice and when we explained her allergies, she sent over the owner that knew the menu and he was very, very patient with us as we asked many questions. Food was very, very flavorful. We are fairly picky but loved what we ordered. Only drawback was their chicken was marinated in dairy (a common practice - PF Changs does the same). While we couldn't eat chicken, we ordered shrimp and something vegetarian. Both were delicious. We will be back. read more

Most disappointing food experience I've had in awhile. Watery, flavorless sauce and the curry tasted pretty much exactly like the vindaloo sauce. Fairly certain it was the same sauce. Just overly spiced to make up for the lack of flavor. Portion size was terrible, naan tasted like it was 3 days old, rubbery, hard, and stale and was microwaved shortly before giving it to us. We received no rice despite asking for extra and being charged $3 for it. The meat itself was actually cooked fairly well, despite the poor quality of pretty much everything else. Almost $50 down the drain. Will not be ordering anything from there again. Do not recommend. read more

Food was good and the environment was clean and inviting! Naan was more crisp than soft, but no real complaints about the food overall. The owner was wonderful and attentive. Along with other reviews, the only concern is the price. Compared to other places in the community, this place is priced $4-6 higher for a meal and I think business here would improve if prices could be adjusted to $15 or less for many of the basic meals. I'm going to preface this, only for take-out. In a rush to find an indian restaurant open on a Monday in West Chester, I came across Indian Spice Train on Yelp in their Hot & New section. So close to home, new, and open. This was all I needed. With indian dishes I tend to stay on the vegetarian side, and was excited to try the Vegetable Vindaloo. Curry vegetables, that's my kind of dish. Take out was easy, ordered ahead and it was there when I arrived. When I brought it home, that was another story. The vegetables were nice and tender but the sauces it was in was not the creamy curry I was use to. This sauce was thin, watery and a bit bland. This dish was just okay. The naan was great though! For $15 I was hoping for something a little more exciting. Reading the other reviews this may be just an error. I'm definitely going to try this place again and give them the benefit of the doubt. read more

Our first time here. It was recommended. We were not disappointed. I had the Tikka Masala with chicken, she had the vegetable Jalfrezi. We were very pleased. These are our favorite dishes so it was good to compare with all our other Indian hangouts. The ambiance was certainly more upscale than the others we frequent. The Indian Spice Train has become our favorite restaurant in the Cincinnati area. I crave the Shorba soup (I could eat it every day), and my husband can't get enough of the lamb kabobs. They're delicious! All of our friends and family members that we've introduced to The Indian Spice Train have come to be regulars as well. We've tried so many different dishes on the menu, and all have been amazingly delicious! You won't find a better Indian Restaurant in Ohio, or anywhere in the States as far as we're concerned. This place is awesome. I was in the area 2 weeks ago on business and ate here because it was next door to my hotel. It was so delicious!!!! I am back in the area for business and am back eating here again! Actually waiting for my food as I write this review. I had the lamb korma with paneer, garlic naan, and a mango lassi. I just ordered the same thing again because it was so delicious last time. Definitely come check this place out! My only suggestion: They should serve free papadum when you sit down like other restaurants do bread. 10/10 would eat here again. read more

I don't know if there are places in this area with a better selection of vegetarian entrees. I have been here several times and have never had a bad meal. I work at a hospital down the street and we order from Indian Spice Train all the time. Their customer service is above and beyond amazing. Never had a bad order from them. Their food is delicious. We never order from another Indian restaurant. When they are close we just don't order Indian food. I would highly recommend trying their food, either dine in or takeout. The food is not that great. Trying to be an upscale restaurant but the food is actually horrible. You will be better at following restaurant :New Krishna, Brij Mohan, Swagat, Taste of India (in Lebanon). from the owner: "It wasn't my preference..." dude i dropped like almost hundred dollars for a substandard food. I would like if the food to tasted better...here's my advise focus more on the TASTE of the food rather than decoration of food. I was harsh with one star .....I will give you 1/2* more for the decorations and ambiance. We went today it was our first time we had a good experience with food, the food was amazing , we ordered chicken masala , and another order of paneer with yogurt sauce , while we were waiting on our food we get a plate of chicken tikka places on the middle of the table, since it was our first time we thought this was with our order , we ate it , then our food arrived we loved it, while they were picking up the plates the lady who work there came and asked us did you get chicken tikka ? we said yes, she said in a rude way you should've said something, we replied we that we thought it's from our order since we are not familiar with the food and the names! But she kept saying and rising her voice you should've said something!! I mean they should know the orders and where they need to be delivered, not me telling her, it wasn't nice of her, I was welling to pay for it , we didn't care we went to have a good time not to be yelled at !! The food was amazing and the service was great , it was only the way that lady talked to us and it wasn't our mistake ! We got the bill we paid it they didn't charge for the chicken tikka but I made sure to give extra tip to more than $20 this way in my mind I paid for everything we ate!! My advice be gentle and kind specially when it's your mistake not ours, again we loved the food and the service ! Only the attitude of that lady who work there that yelled at us for eating the food that was delivered to us by mistake I think they lost us as costumers!! read more

Best food and great service! We were in town for the weekend and were wanting to get some good Indian food. When we walked in we were greeted and seated immediately by the hostess. My husband had ordered the lamb chops per the waiter's recommendation and I,being a vegetarian, had ordered the Shahi paneer and garlic naan. The food here is better than any of the Indian places in Cincinnati, and that's saying something! The sauces are creamy and have excellent ratios of spices and heat. The tikka masala sauce is outstanding; it's better than even the posh Indian restaurants in the UK. This place is very new! The owner told us they've only been open for 5 weeks so they are still working out a few kinks on the menu. Service is superb! The owners took very good care of us and genuinely wanted us to feel satisfied with the food and the experience. These were the dishes we got: Saag Paneer, Paneer Makhani, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Kabob, and a bread basket (1 garlic naan, 1 onion, and 1 spinach). If memory serves me right, the dishes were in the $14-16 range. All were excellent but my favorite among the four is the Paneer Makhani!! Hands down the best I've had! We requested spice level 3 and it was perfect. The sauce was decadent and creamy but not too rich. And the cheese cubes!!! I remember being full but just couldn't stop eating. They were so good! I'm only giving 4 stars for now since it took quite some time for the food to come out and the menu needed some corrections (we got a yogurt dip with veggies that was not listed on the menu). Also, they added an automatic 18% gratuity to our check which I don't typically see... didn't think a group of 5 is large enough to warrant a gratuity charge? I came to Indian Spice Train full of hope that we finally had an Indian restaurant that had great spicy food, beautiful, quiet ambiance and sweet santhoor music. What I got was dishes that were sweeter rather than spicier, Bollywood music and crying babies and noisy children. Granted, the restaurant couldn't do anything about the crying baby and noisy children, but they could do better with the sweet in the dishes that included the raita. Plus, my wife noticed the lack of vegetables on the menu and was disappointed. The chef came by and asked how the food was and we didn't have the heart to tell him that this was our first and last visit there. We were hoping for so much more. Everybody was nice though, but not our preference. It was quite expensive as well. 30% more what we normally would have paid. read more

This food is amazing! So happy to have it so close to home! My first time eating here was takeout. I loved the ease of online ordering and exact pickup time. Very convenient! The naan breads are incredible with the perfect mix of soft and crispy. I tried the shorba soup as an appetizer. So incredible but far from a soup as it's very thick. I would recommend ordering this with a naan bread for an appetizer to split or even a complete entree. My entree was lamb rogan josh. The lamb was perfect and flavorful. Perfect. Compliment to the sauce. I am very pleased and will return often. I only had two issues. We ordered about six to go dinners and were only given one small container of rice to go. Very far from enough for all of us. The last time I ate there, I bit into an entire clove. Clove is essential to Indian cooking but not something you want to bite into. It was quite unpleasant. Recently visited Indian Spice Train for the first time en route back home to Chicago, and it was absolutely phenomenal. Apps, drinks, main course, you name it! Went with a big group so was able to sample many things on the menu. The tandoori ribeye and lamp chops were cooked to perfection. I usually stick to chicken so I am pretty picky about other meats, but I was pleasantly surprised by the tenderness and flavor of both. The chaat papaddi is a great appetizer to get, flavorful but light enough so you can save some room for the rest of the food! Martini's are one of the bartenders specialties and it did not disappoint. Service was just as great as the food and drinks! A very efficient and kind staff!
