India's Clay Pit is not a large place, but inside it is much bigger than you ight think. The building is old, but super well maintained and it is so comfortable. You can eat there, have take away or have it delivered. They have some great specials so look for those. The service is really nice and they treat you like family. They care about their customers. If you call in your food will be ready when promised. But we prefer to eat there whenever we can. Again, they are just so nice. The prices are fair, their is parking in the back. The food, all of it is great. Try their lamb samosas which are packed with lamb and such great spice. Their shrimp pakora is so good. It is a starter, but it is a great size portion. We picked where we wanted to sit. I liked this. Shortly after arrival, we were given menus and waters with ice. What I didn't like was how my boyfriend was treated and how long it took to get my mango lassi and the papadum appetizer and the rest of the vegetarian combo meal we ordered. We waited around 25 min and finally flagged down the server to ask about the mango lassi and the food. The table behind us that arrived some time after we did were given their papadum starter, drinks, and food before we were. What was more, another server came with our food and joked our kufta dish has chicken in it. Then he said he's kidding. This was not funny. I am, after all, vegetarian. The kuftas were too thick and hard to eat with naan. I did like the garlic basic naan. The rotis were too tough. We took the leftovers but neither of us actually wanted the food. I discarded all of it. This is most unlike us as we hate wasting food but the whole experience and food itself left a bad taste in my mouth. We came here very hungry after a long day. We browsed for restaurants open after 10pm on Sunday and finally came across this place. My boyfriend had come to visit me in Santa Clarita Valley from Downtown LA. He said he tried Clay Pit in Los Angeles and it was good. So we decided to come here and I drove us. In the end, we were met with a relatively unpleasant experience and mediocre food. Delicious food! Had the mango smoothie drink, amazing I had to tell myself to savor it and drink slow. Very creamy but not super sweet tastes like it has Greek yogurt of some sort in it. You cannot go wrong with their Chicken Makhani (butter chicken), Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Tikka Masala, and grilled Chicken Tandoori. However, I will recommend avoiding the Chicken Tandoori if you are getting the food to go because it just isn't the same. I believe the bulk of their business is takeout, but they do have a large dining room and the service is quite good. We have now been here several times, both for dine-in and takeout, and the food really is very tasty. Lamb Samosas have a good amount of filling. The Lentil based Vegetable Soup is also very good, In fact, everything we have tried has been good: Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Coconut Curry, Chana Masala, Dall Tarka, Dall Makhni, Roti, Papadum and Garlic Naan, it's All good. Staff were nice. They helped us choose vegan options. Nice open interior. Would be good for events. We got the vegetarian meal for 2. We are plant-based so we ordered items that didn't have any dairy, yogurt, ghee, cheese or meat. See the photos for what we ordered. We liked everything we got. The aloo gobi didn't have any flavor though. We had roti instead of naan and omitted dessert all together because of animal products. Like most India food, it was very oily.
