We picked where we wanted to sit. I liked this. Shortly after arrival, we were given menus and waters with ice. What I didn't like was how my boyfriend was treated and how long it took to get my mango lassi and the papadum appetizer and the rest of the vegetarian combo meal we ordered. We waited around 25 min and finally flagged down the server to ask about the mango lassi and the food. The table behind us that arrived some time after we did were given their papadum starter, drinks, and food before we were. What was more, another server came with our food and joked our kufta dish has chicken in it. Then he said he's kidding. This was not funny. I am, after all, vegetarian. The kuftas were too thick and hard to eat with naan. I did like the garlic basic naan. The rotis were too tough. We took the leftovers but neither of us actually wanted the food. I discarded all of it. This is most unlike us as we hate wasting food but the whole experience and food itself left a bad taste in my mouth. We came here very hungry after a long day. We browsed for restaurants open after 10pm on Sunday and finally came across this place. My boyfriend had come to visit me in Santa Clarita Valley from Downtown LA. He said he tried Clay Pit in Los Angeles and it was good. So we decided to come here and I drove us. In the end, we were met with a relatively unpleasant experience and mediocre food. I absolutely love Indian food and couldn't wait to try this late at night since they were open while I was working. Unfortunately, eating their food was an absolute disappointment. The rice was dry, the chicken was extremely dry. It looked amazing and smelled incredible, but it didn't taste authentic, and I did not have a good experience. I give it a 2 out of 10. I didn't visit the restaurant in person, so I can't speak to ambiance, and I ordered online, so no direct service. You cannot go wrong with their Chicken Makhani (butter chicken), Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Tikka Masala, and grilled Chicken Tandoori. However, I will recommend avoiding the Chicken Tandoori if you are getting the food to go because it just isn't the same. I drive by India's Clay Pit several times a week, and they always seem to be empty. I believe the bulk of their business is takeout, but they do have a large dining room and the service is quite good. We have now been here several times, both for dine-in and takeout, and the food really is very tasty. Lamb Samosas have a good amount of filling. The Lentil based Vegetable Soup is also very good, In fact, everything we have tried has been good: Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Coconut Curry, Chana Masala, Dall Tarka, Dall Makhni, Roti, Papadum and Garlic Naan, it's All good. If you are in the neighborhood, give the Clay Pit a try. They also have lunch specials, parking in the back and they didn't add any 'hidden' fees to the bill. It's worth a visit. read more

Staff were nice. They helped us choose vegan options. Nice open interior. Would be good for events. We got the vegetarian meal for 2. We are plant-based so we ordered items that didn't have any dairy, yogurt, ghee, cheese or meat. See the photos for what we ordered. We liked everything we got. The aloo gobi didn't have any flavor though. We had roti instead of naan and omitted dessert all together because of animal products. Like most India food, it was very oily. We didn't see a drink menu but there was a bar so not sure what they offer because it was so far away and we weren't offered any beverages. read more

Especially the layout, decor, color and ambiance, both inside and out. You can enjoy take-in/dine-in or takeout seven days a week from 11(AM) to 11 (PM). They have a plethora a authentic flavorful Indian cuisine made with care you'll go wild for as well as above and beyond kind service. I.C.P. - NoHo does get quite busy for dinner and on weekends plus those lunch specials, but is slowly becoming a local favorite of mine over other places I'd frequent in the past. I love love the pickled sides including mango (the most), however had some hard pieces in my order for the first time ever... Which had NEVER happened before... possibly do to some overcooked pieces... Definitely will try again as other times have been perfect. The Tofu Coco(nut) Curry, Vegetable Coconut Curry, Vegetable Biryani, Vegetable Samosas (the best of the best - crazy flaky, light crisp, incredible flavor), Aloo Gobi and Basmati Rice are all personal loves of mine at India's Clay Pit. I am vegan and cannot have a lot of spice in my food. I had gone to a place in Sherman Oaks, ordered food and they told me they prepare dish before and could not adjust the amount of spice.
