    Spring Rolls
    Gary H.

Pros- Good Spring Rolls Cons- Dirty Store Dirty Setups Limited menu Food was less than average It's tough to do a review on a chineese restaurant as its almost all the same for the most part. I've lived down the road from this place for years and never went in, well today while riding our motorcycle my wife and I decided to stop in. It's clearly geared for take out as there was one table inside but we decided to dine in anyway. In the door It's cluttered with boxes and other miscellaneous things. Not real dirty but not real clean either. Some kid took our order from across the room as he leaned on a stack of boxes and couldn't get our order correct as the cook came out to get a understandingof what we ordered. The menu was typical of a Chinese resteraunt but was missing alot of favorites. The set up on the tables were in fact dirty (pictured). I went with General Tso Chicken which I never order but it's all I could find that I tempted me. My wife ordered Wings, fried rice and spring rolls because she couldn't find anything appealing. My wife's wings were terrible and were just large chicken pieces, her rice was bland and had very little of anything in it but, the spring rolls were larger than most but also pretty good. My General Tso Chicken was so tough and loaded with sinue that I just left it. Bottom line- don't bother, much better 5 miles down the road.

Unfortunately, mostly bland tasting chicken dishes. I came to try this spot after a friend told me it was a good spot he tried once. I've heard of Hakka crispy chicken, but never had it before, so I ventured out here to try the following: Hakka Crispy Chicken Chicken Chili Both dishes surprisingly tasted very similar to each other. The chili chicken wasn't very spicy.

We frequently order takeout from here. The quality is always good and you get a lot of meat for the price. Our favorite to order is the Hunan Chicken which has a little heat to it and lots of vegetables. It comes with white rice but you can pay a little extra for lo mein. The inside is tiny but we just order takeout and now because of COVID it's takeout and delivery only. Service is always polite. This is the only Halal Chinese food that I know of in the area and it's great!

Hit or miss but for the most part, I'll say a HIT. Food is a lill pricy but its definitely worth it when its a hit.

This place really surprised me. After living in China for 5 years there are certain goods that I…read moremiss. Good noodles is one of them. I had high hopes since the menu includes intestines and other items that clearly are not meant for white customers. I am very happy to have a very tasty Chinese restaurant close to me. Dry pork noodles: These were the best IMO. Nice and spicy, with great flavors all around. I suggest getting the pork chop (add on) since there is not a lot of meat that comes with the dish normally. Beef noodle soup: Tasted very authentic and had a great broth. Thin slices of beef reminded me of real Chinese noodle soups. Spicy dry chicken noodles; Very similar to the pork noodles. What I really enjoy is that these are actually spicy dishes! I never had to add chili sauce!! Pork and chive dumplings: These were solid. The sesame dipping sauce is fine, but a mixture of Chinese vinegar (you rarely find this!) and chili sauce are good compliments. Cucumbers: These were more garlic-y then what I had in China, but are still good. Adding a little Chinese vinegar to them really takes them up a notch.

Came here for lunch with a friend on a weekend. We ate family style and ordered the scallion…read morepancakes, the spicy sesame paste tofu, the spicy oil wonton pork, the chive and pork dumplings and the sesame balls (filled with red bean paste). Total (not including tip) came out to approximately $49. What's Hot - Menu. Excellent. It's also written in Chinese in addition to English. For those of us familiar with traditional ethnic Chinese food, a menu written in Chinese is a good sign. They have traditional Taiwanese and Chinese food like scallion pancakes, sesame balls, beef noodle soup, soup dumplings, etc... Very good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, possibly with the exception of vegan dishes.. - Quality. Pretty good. Their scallion pancake was soft, not too oily, and not too salty. I prefer the scallion pancake to have been a bit more thick and flaky, but that's my personal preference. To be fair, still delicious. Their chive and pork dumplings definitely had a delicious chive flavor. Substantial and the wrapper was not too thick. Their spicy sesame paste tofu had a good flavor and substantive. The chili oil wontons were not too spicy and had a good flavor. Again, my personal preference would have been for the dumplings to have been more substantive, but still pretty decent. - Service. Pretty good. It appears most, if not all their staffers, speak Chinese (Mandarin), which was also helpful, because I specifically ordered in Chinese. I asked them about the spice level, because I wanted to ensure it would not be too spicy for my friend. - Price. Pretty good value for menu and portions. - Location. It's pretty easy to find. Also within convenient walking distance to the Silver Spring metro. The inside space is pretty good. Tables can seat a minimum of 2, all the way up to 8. What's Not - Quality. The sesame balls are smaller than I expected. They're the rough approximation of a ping pong ball, maybe smaller. I was disappointed, because I like sesame balls that are substantial. - Service. I specifically asked for soup spoons, because we were eating dumplings. Instead, they gave me regular spoons. Not all the dishes come out in the order you hope. For example, main dishes may come out before the appetizers. This is going to be dependent on your personal preference. - Parking. There is parking near the restaurant, but it's going to be dependent on the day and time. Final Answer Worth coming back.

None of us were from this area, and we intended to go to the Mayflower Chinese Restaurant, based on Yelp reviews. However, once we walked in the door, it was apparent this place was focused on carryout, and there was no way we were staying to eat in their dingy entrance area. We walked next door to the Meleket Ethiopian restaurant. However, the place was deserted, and we didn't stay there either. We tried the Lime & Cilantro, the next place down, but it was packed and couldn't handle our group. So, we skipped past the verernary clinic and went to Spring Garden. And, what a great choice that was. They offer a huge menu of Chinese, Thai, and Japanese meals. Everything is reasonably priced. Once we got our food, we were impressed with the quality and portion sizes. And, through it all, the service was prompt and friendly. I ordered Hot and Sour soup (my bellwether for Chinese restaurants) and beef chow fun. The soup was flavorful without being overpowering, and the chow fun was delicious too. I liked everything so much that I ordered another soup and Thai Basil with Chicken to go, and that's been my lunch for the past couple of days. Don't be put off by the seediness of its location. Spring Garden is a great place to grab some tasty, reasonably priced food, either to eat in or take away.
