A few months ago, I was on the go and made a quick stop here to grab some dumplings -- specifically, the spicy Sichuan dumplings. I walked inside and ordered -- all the while noticing there was no one else in there besides the two staff haha. One was behind the counter and the other was at one of the dining booths. After ordering, I waited outside for a couple of minutes for it to be ready. It was ready when I ran back in, and I decided to eat in my car. I realized I didn't have chopsticks, so I ran back in and asked for some. They pointed to where I could grab some at -- I didn't see them initially. I grabbed a pair and went back to my car. They were definitely spicy, no games to be played there! Good dumplings overall. If I'm in the area, I'd be curious to dine in for the full experience and try more off of the menu. I just got delivery from Red Maple and it was awful. Most of the food felt old, like it had been sitting around all day - I've had much better food in a mall food court. I had edamame, chicken satay, triple delight and lomein. The chicken satay looked disgusting and after one bite it all went straight in the trash. I will not order from here read more

I ordered the Beef Drunken Noodle, which I have ordered in the past, however, on this particular day, the beef was so hard and tough that I was not able to chew any of it! The noodles were exceptionally bland and tasteless! The service was also mediocre and the ambiance was okay. I never intend to order the beef drunken noodle again. read more

3/10/25 We've been ordering from this shop since it originally opened under a different name many years ago. This time, every dish was fantastic and an added bonus was that the rice was not "sticky" as in a gob of white matter but was instead fluffy and delicious. Shoutout to our local community heroes! Lots of love to Sandy and the crew! This is a beautiful venue. Lots of take out orders, but I was glad that they also had dine in. The staff is friendly and attentive. Hot tea on a cool day was perfect. I had the 3 roll combo and I was excited to try the salt and pepper shrimp. I did not wait very long for my delicious salad and it is my favorite dressing! So fresh and yummy. And the sushi came out right after I finished my salad. Beautiful and perfect! The textures were so well balanced. The shrimp was delicious.. Smokey and spicy! Large portion! I have been to both locations and they are both good. The other location has a full bar, so I almost like this atmosphere better since I was dining alone. It was less intimidating to me. My preference when focusing on my yummmy eats! read more

I asked her why she said hearty, and she said because it made her full. Wife ordered Pad Thai which is what we drove here for. I got the chicken teriyaki (I got tired of ordering sushi platters and ending up with a couple pieces no one wants to eat.) So disappointed. Ordered a pad Thai and a drunken noodles. The pad Thai was extremely dry. Other than that, all the components seemed to be there. The drunken noodles- dry- no sauce- and no chili heat at all! Saucy heat is what makes these noodles delicious. This was just noodles and veggies, and was extremely bland. Honestly, we didn't even eat 1/3 of either. Also ordered veggie spring rolls. The flavor was okay, but not the best with those either. Not sure if this is a norm at the grubb location, but (years ago) had a better experience at the colesville location. Maybe a fluke - maybe it's real. I'm definitely a fan of Red Maple! The former Chinese restaurant that was in this spot for the 20+ years I've lived here was A-Ok, but this place is a keeper (I hope). We were going to dine in but, there was no one else dining at the time, and they don't have a beer and wine license yet. Their Four Corners location does. The basil eggplant ($9) was so flavorful. It wasn't overlooked and mushy. The drunken noodles with shrimp ($9.95) were equally tasty. The portion is a bit small though. It's one of my go- to dishes when pad sew ew isn't available. We also had California rolls, East rolls, and their shumai appetizer. The rolls were good. I'd order them again during their lunch special hours (M-Sat 11:00-3:00). I didn't like the shumai. I asked if they were shrimp. The guy said yes, but I think they may have been a shrimp and pork combo. I'm happy to welcome Red Maple into my neighborhood. I'm a huge fan of mango sticky rice and got some here. The rice was really, really off for this particular dish. Either it was the wrong kind of rice or not enough coconut milk or something but it was unpleasant to eat. I think you can see in the picture how the texture is. read more

Without many options around, red maple is for sure the best one for selection and taste! Also, super convenient for me to pick up on my way home from work. The sushi I ordered was very fresh and well-made. Rice was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Raw fish had great flavor. Everything was packaged well w condiments and came with miso soup or salad. I believe I've tried tuna, salmon, shrimp, and eel from here. All are highly recommended!!! Probably the best sushi I've had in Silver Spring!! Their Chinese takeout is bomb - like you know the salty savory cravings for Chinese Food that kungfu you in the stomach? This place possesses the healing power. I like the whole concept of Asian fusion so I had to give this place a try ;-) My friend and I got chicken dumplings, crispy rock shrimp, and 2 sushi rolls (california roll & shrimp tempura roll) that came with miso soup. The chicken dumplings were okay, they were not actually minced chicken but whole pieces that lacked flavor. The crispy rock shrimp was amazing! It had this tangy sauce and battered shrimp that was tasty and filling. Plus it was a huge portion for only $6.50! The cali sushi roll was good, but a little small compared to the other sushi I've had. The shrimp tempura roll was not good, there was a measly piece of shrimp covered in rice which overpowered everything else. The miso soup was kinda nasty, but then again I have yet to find a place that serves good miso soup. Overall, it was an okay experience. Maybe we'll back and try something new! read more

I recently moved to Silver Spring and I have been too lazy to cook the past couple of days so I've been trying out some of the local restaurants. The concierge at my building recommended Red Maple so I decided to give them a try. I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered delivery and my food arrived hot in about 25 minutes. The delivery guys so far have been courteous and nice and as I mentioned timely. The first time I ordered from here I ordered from the lunch menu. I ordered the Pad Thai and HuNan mixed vegetables and they were both pretty good. They offer lunch specials for $8 which includes a soup or salad or spring roll, So it's a pretty good deal. This time, I ordered the dinner vegetable lo mein with shrimp, an order of the mix vegetables with shrimp and a side of white rice and one order of spring vegetable rolls (they come with 2 but they're pretty small). My total was around $26. Overall I'm impressed with the taste and quality of the food. The vegetables and shrimp are fresh and the food arrived on time and hot. I will continue to order from Red Maple. 4.5 stars read more

The bag was not packaged or closed properly so I'm unsure if this was due to the restaurant or the driver, but either way, the packaging should be sealed completely to avoid this issue. This restaurant is amazing, amazing, amazing! I've never dined in, only ordered delivery...but every time was so much faster than the wait time that was given to me and EVERYTHING I've ever ordered has been delicious. Their panfried veggie dumplings were perfect and crispy, even after the drive over to my house. Their sushi rolls are always delicious and they pay close attention to my shellfish allergy in order to make sure I can enjoy my meal safely. They've even called me just to confirm to make sure everything is safe for me and then start the meal. All of the entrees/appetizers we've ordered so far were those popular Chinese restaurant meals you often see: beef and broccoli, lo mein, egg drop soup, Szechuan chicken...and they were all perfectly seasoned and delicious! I'm excited to keep trying the menu and see how everything else tastes. This is now my go-to for Chinese/Japanese delivery near my home. I'll definitely be trying the Thai options I've seen because I'm sure those will be delicious as well! I give the place a 10/10! read more

The flavors were on point! The mango cheesecake? I was just mad I didn't order two! My husband couldn't stop talking about the sushi ALL week so we ordered again this past weekend. Very disappointed after accidentally stumbling into this place. And it is very out of the way - so that wasn't easy. Had wanted the well reviewed diner next door but my friend did not see tables - which there ARE - so into the Red Maple we went. He is from San Francisco Bay area - and I lived there for many years too - so our expectations for Asian food are hypercharged in comparison to many here. As shown by the many good to glowing reviews here. The service was sloppy - she was overworked with running to do the entire place, and assist with take-out it seemed. But once I got her to wipe down the table, she did so for the first few feet but did not touch the droppings on the last foot or so towards the wall. So I covered it up with condiments etc. And her being harried kept her from doing things in a very efficient way. She was perfectly pleasant - but not able to be a good server last night. I tried teriyaki salmon - as that should be hard to ruin. It was tasty enough, but was about a half inch thick - much less than the norm. And was on a bed of mish mash veggies that did not look or smell good. Miso soup was okay but the overall meal - would never try it again. My friend ordered a very colorful bowl of mixed seafood/veggie - looked like a bouillebaise but Asian inspired. He hated it. He also ordered a large sushi roll - and said it was not good either. So why go back? I am even more disappointed now that I read in the reviews that the owner had been with the Spring Station eatery that was halfway decent such that I would return there. So no - I will go into the deli the next time and let the Red Maple leaves fall upon the tables of those who appreciate it more than we did. read more

Keep trying to give this restaurant chances. Don't know why I keep going back except it's 5 mins from home. Customer service is never friendly; as in just not pleasant. There is usually a problem with ordering and they always want to add charges. And then there's something missing from order. And the food is just ok. Out of town guests were visiting and wanted Asian food. It was a disaster. Despite misgivings because time was of essence I didn't chose better places in Silver Spring or Bethesda. My friends advised me to never order from there again and I'm going to listen to them, unfortunately. read more
