Location was a few blocks from where I was staying and I had an appetite for Asian food, I thought I would give it a try. It's in a quaint old building upstairs. Atmosphere was excellent. Food was delicious. Exceeded my expectation for an Asian restaurant in JAX. The service was efficient, but I felt as if the serve staff were only there to take orders, deliver food and collect the check. There was absolutely no personality in the service unfortunately. Especially with the prices. I would come again for the food however I wish the owners would place more emphasis on the front of house dining experience. This is one of my favorite places to eat downtown. I alter between ordering the shrimp pad see ew or the shrimp pad thai. The tall bottles of water are perfect to pair with the spicy food. You can bring a large group here, but it make take longer, so I would suggest coming with a small group or solo. I have also tried the spring rolls and the fried rice, which seem to be popular favorites at the restaurant. You have an option of keeping it mild or going all the way up to 40f for extreme spiciness, but I had a friend go with a 20f+ spicy level and that was too spicy for her tastes. So keep below 20f! But please visit one of the best Asian fusion restaurants in town. read more

I found this gem of a restaurant when I had a business meeting across the street. I had the Pad Thai with chicken. It made to perfection. I truly enjoyed the Pad Thai which is one of my favorite dishes. The service was great and our waitress was very attentive and took great care of me. I ordered my usual Pad Kee Mao/Drunken Noodles at this spot and it was pretty darn good. I was hoping for wider rice noodles but these smaller noodles did their job. Drunken noodles?! Yes please!!!! The noodle dishes here are delicious! I ordered drunken noodles with wide noodles instead of regular rice noodles. Heat level 5 which is good. I wish I ordered level 6 which is thai hot because I wanted more heat. It was not spicy at all. I recommend the noodle dishes. Pad se ew is good here too. Better than many other places in Jacksonville for thai food. The next one I'm trying is the pad thai. I personally don't like the soups here. I just tried another one tom kha gai, and it was really salty. At the same time it seemed watered down too. It didn't taste really bad, but I would pay $8 again for it. Not worth the money for me. Sub par taste for all the soups I've had here. I have had better at other restaurants or even when I made it from scratch myself. Other places I've been to it wasn't as salty and way more flavorful. I've always wanted to try this place but this past Saturday was too off of an 'off' night for me to return. The chicken Thai bites looked better on paper :( The chicken in our two chicken dishes were so dry that I literally just had the soup of my Tom Yum soup & a few of the vegetables. The second dish of dry chicken with noodles & rice, were accompanied by some ungainly sized onion pieces that could've used more cook time and the spice level was apparently off from its usual. At least one of three of us had a decent meal (fried tofu app & sushi). To top it off the underperforming A/C made for an uncomfortably muggy experience. And I just noticed a review from almost 3 weeks ago noting the same. Maybe my dining friends who've had better past luck here, will shrug this one off but it's a no go for me with an overall underwhelming first experience. read more

If I could give a zero star I would. I used to love going here. Food was always amazing. But will not return again due to the horrible service. Was there today for an hour and never received food. My group and I were literally the third table to get there before the lunch rush and after an hour we were told there was still 6 orders ahead of us. When the server finally brought our drinks, he dropped one of the drinks on the table and split it everywhere. I understand everyone makes mistakes, however, when you drop an entire drink on a table you can at least clean it up quickly and apologize. This server mumbled his apology so we could barely hear him and took almost 10 mins to clean it up. When we asked him where our order was [after an hour] and if we could get it to go, he took it upon himself to cancel our order and then proceed to yell at us for his errors. When we first walked in the restaurant we was greeted and seated by a nice woman and the ambiance was nice. Once we sat down a male waiter brought us water and the menus and asked us did we know what we wanted to drink. My daughter asked where on the menu was the drink and he pointed and walked away. We sat there for about 10-15 mins waiting for him to come back and take our order but he never did. When my daughter finally was able to get his attention he stated" you're not gonna f***ing tip me anyway." I was so applaud. Then when he walked by again he stated"oh yea I'm the owner by the way". I proceeded to wave the woman that seat is and she sent another young lady over. I asked the young lady was he really the owner and she stated no he is one of the managers. My daughter was so upset because she really wanted to eat there but because of the service from the gentleman who was supposed to be our waiter was horrible she wanted to leave. I am so upset at the way he spoke to us that I hope it never happens to anyone else. I wish i could have experienced the food because i heard good things about it but the experience has was so unacceptable. read more

Had the chicken Pad Thai for lunch, and a Thai iced tea. The iced tea was delicious, but the Pad Thai was way to sweet and a little too watery. Also, the service was slow for lunch. Beautiful interior. I might try Indochine, if downtown in the evening with a lot of time to kill, but I'll definitely get something else to eat. read more

Least authentic Thai food I have ever tasted. Ever. This doesn't even count as Thai. I got rice and noodle dishes. Smelled amazing in my car until I actually got home and tasted it. The thai flavor is completely absent. Tastes like somebody just threw basic American ingredients together and hoped for the best. Swung in here after walking around during art walk. It was kind of sketchy at first going up the stairs and all. Reminded me of going to the hidden passages to buy "nice" purses in Chinatown NY. Haha. ANYWAYS, we walked in and was blown away by the delicious smell. It was very busy, but we a table of 7 was seated in a matter of 10 minutes. How nice? Sat in a table booth type set up. The atmosphere was just exciting and menus choices was abundant.the restaurant was quite clean and kind of fancy but I enjoyed being there. Service was attentive & most excellent. Food came out not fast but it wasn't a long wait for it. It was delicious especially the curry. Amongst my group we had panang curry, red curry, and duck curry. Each taste was full of flavor and not thick which was good! For dessert we had the coconut creme brûlée and it was soo yumm. The only thing that disappointed me was the Thai tea, i never had it so sweet before. It was extremely to sweet, maybe it was just tonight but over all I love the place is come back again soon! read more

Stopped in here a couple of months ago during a quick evening getaway for a show at The Florida Theatre. Darling little restaurant, great food, nice atmosphere. Would've given it four stars (and yes I realize I'm actually only giving it two) except the service is really damaging. Actually, if I weren't with a large group I would've turned around and left shortly after entering. So my party and I consisted of four folks. Early evening (before 6? definitely before 7), and when we arrived at the check in area we were told, "well, we can seat you but you need to be done within an hour. We have a lot of reservations tonight." Umm, WHO DOES THAT at a place of business?! And besides, what if some of the reservations don't even show up? I was seriously so turned off by that (hopefully it's not an indication of how the rest of the business operates) I doubt I'll ever go back if I'm ever in Jacksonville. Had the crab Rangoon wasn't too much crab more cream cheese than anything, had a curry taste which isn't expected but it was alright. The ambiance is very nice and well thought out. I normally don't write reviews, as I don't think I can express myself in a way that might bring some substance to a business. But I feel compelled to write about this particular restaurant. Since moving to Jacksonville, I have searched for good Thai, and I finally think I have found it. Here are my few but humble thoughts: 1. Indoor/Decor - I'm no interior designer but this place is extremely well designed. The indoor has all the elements of a cozy yet traditional Thai restaurant. There is different styles of seating, beautiful paintings and artwork, and definitely enough room to safely eat during a pandemic. 2. The food - I have search high and low for what I consider my most favorite dish, pad Thai, in Jacksonville. I have been to at the least 15 restaurants to try to find the most authentic and delicious pad Thai. They have nailed it here! I could eat this every day and feel the same way about it the next day. Great flavor, not too fishy, and just sweet enough. 3. The service - we had a sweet waitress who did not rush us, she was patient with our questions and checked in through out the meal but also gave us our privacy. It was great service! Service and staff are great! Sadly the flavors were underwhelming and the Pad see ew was sweet (pad see ew should not be sweet) and made with the wrong noodle type. Idk if I'm biased because west coast thai is that much better or what but I was a little disappointed that this place had such great reviews and didn't hit the spot like we hoped. read more

Just in town for a quick visit. Saw the reviews and went. Got Drunken Noodles looked & tasted like pad thai with broccoli. Drinks (blood orange margerita & red lotus) were straight alcohol. I loved this spot. Came here with two girlfriends before seeing a concert a few blocks down the road at Times-Union theater. Indochine was able to accommodate my vegan friend by substituting vegetable broth instead of beef broth in her pho bowl. They also have many other dishes that were vegetarian/vegan. Great wine and beverage selection, they make some yummy and very strong martinis. I had sushi, the Indochine Roll to be specific, and it was very good! It was like their spin on a shrimp tempura roll. Will definitely be returning to try out more of the menu next time I'm in Jacksonville. read more

I've been looking forward to eating here since we moved to Jacksonville. We used to eat at a place called IndoChine and Tacoma Washington. This is not the same people, but it is every bit as good. My wife had the yellow curry and she likes it mild. Many places when you tell them mild it's spicy anyway but here it wasn't. But it still have plenty of flavor and was delicious. I had the Curry Fried Rice and it was equally awesome. And the crispy spring rolls were obviously house-made. They were different as it appeared they were pan-fried instead of deep fried. Very good! A great Yelp find! I arrived in downtown Jacksonville at 11:45 hungry and with a 1 PM meeting. I did a quick search on Yelp and was immediately drawn to Indochine after reading a few other reviews. I found an empty metered parking spot a half a block away, dropped two quarters in the parking meter, and was seated before noon. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and went to the restroom to wash up. My order arrived at the table just after I sat back down. The food was delicious, probably in the top five Thai lunch dishes I've ever had. I devoured my meal in less than fifteen minutes and had time to pay the check and write this review by 12:20. Cousin was not feeling well and vomiting. . So manager, Mark, followed them INTO WOMENS bathroom to say "you need to get out of MY restaurant" while holding the women's door open. No respect. No care. I wish there was more I could say but not worth it. Just avoid this place only because of MARK. This is your above average Thai restaurant. It does the trick, especially if you don't want to gamble on those hole-in-the-wall Thai places in random strip malls. As I just saw mentioned in one of the other reviews, I also miss the San Marco location. I know that the menu and food were the same, but somehow this location was better. Not sure what it was: could have been that statue of the head of some Indian god at the entrance (I have no doubt that this last sentence was an 11 on the culturally insensitive dial). Or it could have been the opium den they were running in the basement (that was easily a 12). Anyways, the parking sucks around the sole downtown location, and you have to walk upstairs to get to the restaurant. But the food is just fine, and the ambiance is very charming. read more

This place is hard to find but worth the trip. It's upstairs from Burrito Gallery. My dinner mate enjoyed the dunplings. I had pad prik (sp) with tofu and spiced all the way up to 6f. It was very spicy, plentiful and delish. My mate also had the ginger scallops spiced to 2 and he was also very satisfied. This place is worth the visit, if you can find it.
