I've been here before with my "Feathers R Us" Red Hat Society group. It's been a while since I've been here. Long overdue. I am glad I stopped in on a rainy night on my way home from having coffee with Rev. Ron and Loan. The soup was cut in half, part for dinner and the rest for lunch tomorrow. I ate one spring roll. I will eat the salad for lunch. I don't think they remembered to give me peanut sauce for my salad, they gave me some other kind. The soup and spring roll was delicious. They were very friendly here and this counts for a lot in my eyes. I look forward to coming back soon. Great place. Pros-they were still open, good food, hot and fresh. Friendly. I want to start with saying overall it was a great experience. The food was really good, the server was very kind, the restaurant was very clean and put together, everything came out hot, fresh, and in a timely manner. The problem is though, while I was ordering my food (I ordered the chicken Pad Thai), I bit down on a hard piece of something, and when I pulled it out of my mouth, I found there was a staple in my chicken. I brought it to the server's attention and she apologized for it and proceeded to bring us the check. Nothing was comped or removed and as a result, I was charged full price for Pad Thai with a staple in it. I'm lucky I didn't accidentally ingest it but the fact that there was a foreign piece of metal in my food is naturally concerning; doubly so given the lack of action taken for such a thing. As a result, my experience was ruined and I can't in good conscience recommend this place. read more

I had this once before when I was in need of soup and my husband got me take out. I had the Lao soup that time. The broth was flavorful but I didn't care for the ground chicken so I was open to trying something else here. This time we stopped in when passing by, planning to dine in, but the vibe was unwelcoming. We were the only ones there which was fine but the woman working seemed like she did not want us there. No music and not friendly. We got Tom kha soup, pad Thai, lo mein, dumplings and each had a beer while we waited for our food. The food came out very fast, like very very fast. Noodles were decent. Wouldn't get Tom kha or dumplings again. If we had just done take out we might be back because the food is alright but for $80 and that service I don't think we'll be back. read more

My sister wanted to try this place out after we landed back home from our trip (10/10/2022). The inside decor is unique and gives that Thai and Laos feels. The staff is very nice as it's a family owned business. We ordered the following: Tom Yum seafood - almost like a sweet, sour spicy soups with veggies and seafood. Very tasty. Papaya Salad - delicious salad with peanuts and with a umami flavor Shrimp Pad Thai - stir fry noodles with shrimp and veggies Fried Garlic Stir-fried Frog legs - nicely cooked frog legs with veggies. FYI- frog legs tastes similar to chicken. Khao Piak Sen - chicken soup with rice noodles, fried garlic, cilantro & scallions Overall, the entrees were great with good taste. My husband and I were in the mood for Thai, so he took me to a place he and my daughter enjoyed the last time they went. The place is cozy, dark and heavy on the Asian decor. I knew what I wanted, so our server took our order as soon as she took our drink order. The food took almost no time at all, and it hit the spot. The pad Thai was just right and had all the ingredients I look for to complete the order- chopped peanuts, bean sprouts, green onions and lime. Great food and quick service. read more

I came here with my coworkers and he recommended this place to us since it has one of the best thai fried rice in town. I always like to try out the thai hot chicken padthai at every thai restaurant I go to, so that's was my choice for the meal and I paired it with the thai tea. I must say: the padthai was definitely delicious, generous amount of chicken in my dish which is a plus. The tea is a little too sweet but still great, they both tasted authentic. The place was crowded during lunch hours but the waitress was quick to bring out our food as well as refill our drinks. The down side was that she didn't bring us out waters, and I totally forgot about it until after I left and I was pretty thirsty from the sweet thai tea (lol). I would recommend this place if you are in the Regency area. It is a little out of the way for us, personally but it's worth the drive for their delicious foods. read more

What just happened in my mouth was craaazy, but in a good way! The 'fresh spring rolls' were actually fresh (unlike most places) and were big, DELICIOUS, and filling! I had to get extra of the citrus sauce they came with bc the flavor went so perfect with the rolls. The green curry was safe to say some of the best I've ever had in my life! If not The best, it's super close. This is a family owned and operated restaurant so all the recipes come from them; and each bowl of soup or curry is prepared individually and made to order. This place serves papaya salad that really temps the taste buds. We have found the flavor and quality is a home run 90% of the time. Which make for when you get a slightly off session , not so off putting. I've only had one experience that I wasn't happy with when it comes to this lovely little spot. The menu is mostly Thai items, but the last two pages of the menu have authentic Lao dishes. We ordered an iced coffee and it came out in a tall glass, very nice! The pork and beef jerky paired very nicely with traditionally prepared Lao sticky rice, so savory and flavorful. The chicken laab salad was perfectly balanced with fish sauce and bright lime flavor. The best dish of the night was their coconut curry soup with rice noodles. So rich with coconut and spicy curry flavor, it is the ultimate comfort food! This is borderline 4 star. I loved the pork pad tai. The Tai ice tea is good along with the papaya salad. Can be a little spicy but I like spicy. You can always add more spicy elements if you want more. I had the soup but can't remember what it is called but liked it and added extra spice. Also had the spring rolls which were nice and crisp. Overall a nice pleasant experience but do yourself a favor and go earlier. I went at 8pm and the wait staff seemed like they were disappointed that we showed up. They were supposed to close at 845pm so I'd recommend going there earlier in the the day and not after 8pm if it is a slow night. read more

Sadly, all the food was bland, which is rare for Thai food. Fried rice was mostly peppered for flavor, the ginger chicken was bland with very little ginger taste, but lots of chicken, but the most disappointing dish was the red curry with shrimp...all four of the medium shrimp. The fresh spring roles with shrimp had small pieces of shrimp in them, as opposed to entire shrimps found in most restaurants. Definitely not worth the $70 spent for the meal. read more

I found this place searching for nearby restaurants on Yelp. They are fairly new as they haven't popped up on my search before. First impression of the place was that it is small but inviting. The inside was clean and neat. The employees were friendly. Ordered: papaya salad (mild) and unsweet beef jerky. Please be warned, LAOS PEOPLE eat EXTREMELY SPICY. The papaya salad was very spicy to me even though it was mild. I love papaya salad but the only reason I'll eat it despite sweating out of all the orifices on my face is that the papaya salad has to be very good. With that said, not everybody make good papaya salad however theirs lived up to it. If you can't handle spice well I wouldn't recommend ordering it with any spice. And lastly, the beef jerky was also very good. I will definitely be back again to try other menu options but will order non-spicy lol. read more

I'm a little torn about updating this review but it's finally time as this is my third visit within the last 12 months and each time I was disappointed. Something's changed. I boasted about this place since it opened but I'm finding it harder and harder to come back. When I'm craving Thai for take out, the go-to is often Pad Thai and fried rice. Lately the Pad Thai has had some noodles that doesn't fully have the sauce. When you dig in, the color of the noodles aren't uniform. Some areas look like they were mixed in well with sauce , others look like it was barely touched by sauce. When you mix it, it's like there's not enough sauce to distribute the flavor evenly. Then there's the fried rice. Did the soy sauce come unsalted? It's pretty bland. Their fried rice was literally to die for, I would crave that fried rice weekly. I would have to give three stars. My tour of thai food in Jacksonville led me Thai & Lao Bistro- it is hands down my favorite place for thai food in the entire city. It is very conveniently located in Arlington near the AMC theatre so my hubby and I will often visit before or after seeing a movie there. This restaurant is the epitome of what it means to own and operate a family run business. The family is always at the restaurant ensuring everything is up to par. The service is prompt and and the owner frequently checks in with you to make sure everything is alright. The meals are VERY decently priced & the portions are HUGE! We are always taking leftovers home with us. We frequently enjoy the fresh spring rolls, tom yum soup, chicken satay, crab rangoons, pineapple fried rice, prig pow, and any of the curries. This is a local mom and pop shop with the owners usually doing the ordering/cooking. Especially with the way the pandemic, everyone should be a little bit more understanding and patient with the food industry. Anyways, there was no one at the front to greet us (understandable), so my SO and I went to the bar/order area. There was a party of 10+ already there before us, so again we weren't expecting to get our orders fast since there seems to only be two ppl working. We didn't mind waiting a bit.
