My waiter was super wonderful and answered my questions about the custom sushi options. I am not a fan of sushi with cream cheese, avocado, or cucumber (and most places have one or the other in most rolls). I appreciated that I could make the sushi my own. I almost didn't want to write this review because part of me wanted to keep this place a hidden gem, but that wouldn't be fair. 5 stars across the board for service, food, and atmosphere. We decided to try somewhere new last Saturday night and were told about a 30-minute wait, which is usually a good sign as the place was packed. They took our number and texted us about 20 minutes later when two seats opened at the hibachi bar. Grabbing those seats was the best decision we made as we were entertained by both the hibachi chefs and the sushi station all night. The chefs were interactive, friendly, and clearly skilled at what they do. Our waitress, Jennifer, was absolutely on point, accommodating, polite, and happy to offer recommendations that did not disappoint. We ordered the shrimp tempura, bagel roll, and spider roll for sushi, along with the shrimp and steak hibachi, which she thoughtfully split onto two plates for us without even being asked. The sushi arrived first, beautifully presented, fresh, and full of flavor. Soup and salad followed, then the hibachi entrée , all timed perfectly so we never felt rushed or overcrowded with dishes. The shrimp was fresh, the steak cooked perfectly, and the fried rice seasoned just right with herbs and spices that complemented the entire meal. Every part of the experience flowed from start to finish. A return visit is already in the works this month. I tried this place on whim after getting off for work. I must say this was very tasty Hibachi. Food was very filling and had a really good flavor. I requested a to go order, but the food tasted as though I ate in the restaurant. I also got one of the sushi roll. It held up great on the road to get home. It tasted very delicious. I will definitely try more if I'm ever on this side of town again. The only thing that I wish Hana Yori had was noodles, but the fried rice was great regardless. read more

Went with two other couples for Valentine's Day...the place was packed!!! The staff handled the wait with nothing but smiles. They would bring drinks, if you want. When we were seated, service was extremely efficient, but she also had a sense of humor. The food was truly delicious! The three couples that went NEVER agree...this time 100% agreements!!! Literally my favorite place in Jax. Every single time it is amazing. The service is quick and attentive and the hibachi men are so kind and always make sure everything is exactly how you like it. It's a cozy environment as well. I think you could wear a swim suit cover up OR heels and either would be fine. I always get the filet mignon hibachi with fried rice and a cold sake. The house salad with ginger dressing was very good (b/c of the dressing---it could use some cucumbers, etc...) The seaweed salad was very fresh and large w/cucumbers on the bottom. Given that it was Valentine's Day, the service was very good. The food was another story. Lacked in WOW factor, I mean anyone can throw frozen mixed carrots & peas into rice and call it Fried Rice! Portions were large and based on that good value. Sushi was another issue, I guess it's more of a JAX thing and not an authentic thing. Dumplings were strait out of a freezer. This is my favorite place for sushi in town! The rice is flavorful, the fish tastes fresh every single time and the price is right! I also love to get hibachi here. I'm so impressed that they are so willing to use gluten free soy sauce and they even make a special sauce for my fried tofu to keep it gluten free.
