Can't in good conscience recommend Indoor Comfort. We were grandfathered into Indoor Comfort's now defunct annual service agreement. They've been bought out/under new ownership now so I'm guessing they used to be great but aren't so much anymore. But, in our servicing experience, there have been issues every single time: *forgot to turn the pipe in the proper draining position so our basement had pooled with water. we were panicking - thinking our water heater was leaking!!! *forgot to turn the gas back on so we were perplexed why our heat wasn't turning back on & had another company come out to tell us that...Indoor Comfort forgot to turn the valve on. I also have issue if your service techs are also sales people. This seems like a conflict of interest. All these service folks have been really friendly but it's important to get it right and not always feel like we're being upsold. When we did get a quote - it was absolutely outrageous -- even though they kindly provided 3 options. It was crazy high compare to other comparable quotes we received from other companies. So, we've since canceled our service agreement & have looked at other companies for our new HVAC+Furnace install needs. read more

I needed my humidifier pad replaced. A different company that installed it 6 years ago wanted $95 service fee and then $133 per hour. I contacted this company by email and they responded quickly. This wasn't an emergency, but they came out the next day and in the time frame they said. I could easily do this myself, but I wanted to make sure how the professional does it before I attempt it. I felt like I was treated like if I was their own customer who had bought a furnace from them. And now I will be saving money by replacing it myself. This company only charged a service fee unlike the company that I bought my furnace from. I will now be calling this company for routine maintenance/check up every couple of years to keep my furnace and AC working. read more

An update since our new furnace and AC install in Jan. We have had some warmer weeks since Feb this year, and have definitely been warming up more over the last month. As such, we have periodically switched our thermostat over to cool, particularly at the end of a warmer day, as we like sleeping in a certain temperature range. It was seeming like the AC wasn't working, or wasn't working well. We felt the air going but the temperature wouldn't really cool down, or seemed very slow to cool. Had a couple hot nights where we'd be waking up due to the temperature, but it's still been cool enough at night such that by the next morning, the temp seemed to be at the right place. So we weren't sure if the AC wasn't working, was just slow, if it was user error etc. Spent time researching and going through the user manual and trying a few things to resolve. Finally called the office to describe the potential issue, and was told that the AC needed to be started up for the spring after our winter install. It wasn't going to work all along until this step was performed. I didn't know about this and mentioned that no one had told me about this. In of itself, it's not really that big of a deal, but the office person I was speaking with told me they usually do start ups starting early April. I was disappointed because there was no acknowledgment of the oversight on their end for not informing me of this step when we were first in contact for the install, and I am not confident someone would have reached out to me to do this given that they said they scheduled these starting early April and no one had reached out to me before I called them mid April. The actual service visit for getting the AC start up complete was good. The technician came towards the beginning of our time window and was professional and courteous. read more

Very high marks for the service provided by Indoor Comfort. Our furnace quit on Thanksgiving Day, and a call to Indoor Comfort brought a very speedy and expedited response. A technician came out with a couple of hours, then returned with his supervisor to make sure the job was done right. They were knowledgeable about our heating system, and were able to provide a temporary fix until they could get the replacement parts a couple of days later, after the holiday weekend, and perform the permanent repairs. During the whole experience we felt we were in good hands. We do recommend them. read more

The team of Alex, Scott and Jeff who handled the installation of our HVAC and Hot Water Heater did a superb job. They were on time, knowledgeable and skilled in completing the project. They were customer focused and answered our questions throughout the the two day installation period. When the job was done cleaned up and took everything away. It was as if no one had been there which was a good way to end the experience. I would recommend Indoor Comfort as a company. Had my annual furnace inspection this week by Indoor Comfort. I appreciate the office always calling when the technician is on his way to my home. My technician Kenny was right on time, explained exactly what we were looking at, and answered a number of questions I had. Then he patiently spent time showing me how to program my thermostat for early morning heat - and I couldn't be happier with the result! Kenny has been here often, and is clearly an expert. My furnace is relatively new and was installed by IC, and I've been very pleased with their entire service model. Office staff is pleasant, kind and responsive! read more

We had Mike come by to do what was probably the first fall furnace tune-up our system in our new home in Ann Arbor has had in the last 7 years. We fully expected that the furnace would need to be entirely replaced or significant repairs and that we'd be looking at a massive bill. Mike did a thorough inspection and cleaning of the system. To both of our surprise, the system was functioning within normal tolerances and working just fine. As a follow-up, we had Tim and Nate install a replacement whole home humidifier as the existing one was trashed. It took 4 hours of a lot of work to get the old corroded one out and the new one installed and configured but, we're very happy with the results. They offered a 5 year labor and 10 parts warranty as well for a reasonable price. I'd happily recommend Indoor Comfort! read more

Previously used Indoor Comfort several times between 2012-2015 and they provided excellent service. Yesterday (Thursday in Jan 2020) came home to furnace inducer fan making grinding noise and called and was told the earliest they could come out would be Monday, I inquired why since there was a good chance the fan wasn't going to last that long and was told, "Well you haven't used us since 2015". I made an appoint anyway incase I couldn't get it fixed sooner. Next place I called came out Thursday afternoon and fixed the problem I immediately immediately. I called Indoor Comfort back on Friday morning to cancel the appointment and wasn't even asked if I wanted to reschedule or why I was cancelling it. I don't know what happened to this company but I definitely wouldn't recommend them now. read more

It can difficult to stomach the fact that you are going to be spending a lot of money on a new AC or Furnace, or in my case both at the same time. But if you do have to spend that kind of money, Indoor Comfort is a great choice. My AC had been on the fritz for a while, so I've had the opportunity to interact with many different people from IC. Every single one is extremely nice and helpful. They are always on time or early. A few months ago, I had the AC and Furnace fully replaced, and I have to admit I was shocked by how good it all looked when they were done. There was a lot of moving things around, replacing pipes, etc, and what was formerly a hot mess left by the previous owners is now streamlined, organized, and clean. I'm not one to be impressed by appliances, but I still get a warm fuzzy feeling when I look at the new setup in the basement. The AC unit outside looks great too, sitting on a nice bed of stones they put down. I had one issue the first time I ran the AC, and someone came out the very next morning to resolve my issue and change a setting so it wouldn't happen again. Otherwise, everything has worked perfectly. It's nice to know that if I ever do have another problem, someone will help me with it right away. The inspector who came out to my house said it was "beautiful work" and "one of the top 3 in Ann Arbor." They set up the inspection and submitted all the rebate paperwork for me, which helped make everything less stressful. read more

I'm lost when it comes to HVAC and I set up an appointment with Indoor Comfort to help with a furnace problem I was having. It turns out that they do not service the brand that I had in my house but that did not stop this awesome company from going way above and beyond to help me identify and fix the problem and then also take a ton of extra time and effort to make sure anything that could be covered under warranty was covered. read more

Our A/C wasn't working, so we called Indoor Comfort to come take a look. It turns out that the capacitor in our A/C condensing unit was blown. We went ahead and had them fix it, which basically consisted of them opening a panel, removing a part and replacing it - didn't take them longer than about 20 minutes. They gave us the bill, which totaled $330 - $150 for the visit ($70 of that was an extra charge for the visit being on a weekend - it was a hot day so we needed service right away), and $180 for the replacement part. After they left, we googled the replacement part just out of curiosity, and discovered that it costs no more than $40! So besides the high price of the visit, they basically charged us an extra $140 for the part, obviously taking advantage of the fact that we weren't knowledgeable enough to object. The service technician was very nice, but we feel ripped off. read more

Dustin was the rep who came to our house to advise us on a furnace replacement. We have a very old system (house is about 70 years old) and unlike some competitors this didn't throw him off at all. He was very respectful, answered all my questions, he was honest on his thoughts ,and seemed to be very knowledgeable in his field. He followed up with me quickly with a detailed write up of what they would do. I didn't give 5 stars because we didn't end up completing the project at this time so I can't speak on their install abilities or anything other than the initial estimate but the service I got from Dustin was more than enough to make us come back to indoor heating if/when we decide to finish the project. read more

I had, unknown to me, a wasps nest in my outdoor furnace area, he kindly offered to remove it for me. He also replaced my filter, which desperately needed changing, and did it at a very reasonable price. I also felt very comfortable with him inside of my home. I bought a barber shop in Ann Arbor almost 3 years ago. The heating and cooling system was installed by Indoor Comfort many years previously. They've done inspections and routine maintenance from time to time (every few years, or so) since then and everything is working just fine. Technician was a pleasure to deal with and seemed to really know what he was doing. Are they the cheapest outfit? I can't intelligently comment on that, but I have great confidence that they will keep the system working properly for as long as possible. When and if replacement becomes necessary, I can trust them to do a great job at a fair price. read more

These guys are super professional and don't cut corners. Mark is exceptionally experienced and diligent. His crew were gentlemen first, HVAC professionals next. They were there to upgrade our heater, but also did a very diligent job at the various problems presented by our older house (1941 vintage). Examples include updates to conform to standards, re-doing custom vents, cleaning ducts, and other things I am not proficient enough to recognize. They arrived at 9am and left at 9pm to finish it all in one day, because we had time constraints. This was all done for a price that was competitive to begin with. They did not charge us for extra expenses, they stuck by their promise. We would recommend them greatly to anyone considering any HVAC work. read more

The people I came into contact with were so professional, courteous, and generous. I scheduled an appointment to fix my tank water heater. Due to loud construction at my complex, I did not hear the technician at the door. Despite this, she (or he) nevertheless checked the meter for my water heater and noted that there was no power. After s/he left, I got a phone call from Tamar at their office, and she updated me on the situation. Basically -- they gave me the info I needed to follow up with DTE Energy and didn't charge me anything for the visit. In addition, this saved me even more risk with regard to DTE, because I would be charged a service fee even if the DTE technician finds that the problem was not due to their meter or power line. I don't even know who this technician is, but thank you. The people here have really earned my trust. read more

I liked the sales and service guy who initially came out (makes sense that the guy who will sell you stuff be winning) and the competent, polite, and enthusiastic men who installed my new (and very expensive) high-efficiency furnace and heat pump. A month after this work was completed, I still think the new system is noisier than what it replaced, in annoying ways that aren't simply a case of needing to get used to an equivalent set of new noises. I also think that it's cheezy of the manufacturer Bryant to put a big non-removable manufacturer label, in effect an advertisement, on top of the heat pump-- even if this is within the sorry commercial norm. I wasn't very impressed with the people at the office that I had to talk to on the phone when setting up the post-installation inspection. read more

I recently had to have my A/C unit repaired. It was only 2 years old and purchased from another dealer. It had never cooled well , even after 'several repairs' from the company that I purchased it from. Indoor Comfort replaced a part for me and completely re-installed the unit correctly. They did a beautiful job and my air conditioning works perfect now. I would highly recommend them and will call them when I need a new furnace someday. read more

The service was good -- the technician they sent out was knowledgeable and quickly fixed the problem -- but the prices are absolutely outrageous. The tech was here for 10, maybe 15 minutes, and the work he did consisted literally of tightening two screws that had come loose. For that, the total charge came to $142. It was $80 just to have them come out and then an additional $62 to turn two screws. I know HVAC companies have a reputation for raking people over the coals, but this was ridiculous. read more

They replaced our AC and furnace (2 years ago and this year, respectively). They did a superb job, specially in terms of service. We have the place rented, and they were great working with tenants to get a free tune up visit for the AC, and the city inspection for the furnace. They also pointed us to a city rebate for the furnace and provided us with all documents needed and handled the process. read more

The technician was very knowledgeable, professional and helpful in describing the problem and how things work. Because the service call was made on a Saturday, the cost for a service run was $140, which is $60 more than a weekday service run. The technician, Greg, quickly identified the problem as a defective capacitor and was able to replace the defective part within 30 minutes of arrival. The cost charged by Indoor Comfort to replace the capacitor is the basis of my rating. The cost of the capacitor was $180 for parts and labor. A search on Google reveals that comparable service costs are much less that what is charged by Indoor Comfort. Great Service, High Prices read more

I say: DO NOT HIRE INDOOR COMFORT EVER !!!!! They tore all maintenance records off my furnace, without asking. Leaving us no clue what furnace repairs had been done before we bought the house. Serviceman and I attempted to take the very torn sticker out of the trash to save records. Did not work. The new part they put on, was very noisy but working. The service man, in my opinion, was a high-pressure sale, pushing us to buy the service contract. Why would I do that, I did not like what he had done already. I had already told him, I was very upset with him taking records down. Next time we had trouble with the furnace, we called another company. The repair needed, had nothing to do with the repair indoor comfort had done. The new company's service man told us right away: the part indoor comfort put on was on wrong. This is 2nd person who told us this. Should never have been that loud. The noise had never changed. It could be heard throughout the entire house since day it was put on. Our furnace is in basement, so tolerable. We are not furnace repairmen, the part is inside the furnace, how were we to know. The repair needed with new company was done very well, very fast and the man was very nice and friendly. We called indoor comfort to see if they would look what they did; telling them it was done wrong. Talked to 2 people at indoor comfort, both said they would come if we paid $80. Then if it was on wrong, they would not charge us. In my opinion, both saying if it was working, then it was not wrong. I said no. What is the chance they would really admit they did it wrong? In my opinion, they were already saying, if working then not wrong. The man, who put part on wrong, heard it when it was put on. He must not have wanted to replace the part, or he did not want to admit, he did it wrong. May be he is trained to believe, if working then not wrong. He said nothing to us. I believe a lot of things can work and not be working right. In my option they are not good service, untrustworthy and do not stand behind their work. read more

When, after much frustration, they were unable to fix one furnace because the manufacturer gave them a run-around, they referred me to the 'official' maintenance folks. They did not charge me for all the time they spent doing that. On another house, they did a great job of seeing to it that everything was properly maintained. I recommend them highly. read more

I agree that the company has a prompt service. We called them to service at one of our rental units and after receiving a bill were shocked. They never called to let us know what problems were incurred or an estimate of what the costs associated with it would be. I would use extreme caution when using this company and keep your check book handy. I too am a business owner in the construction field of the local area, and the amount that was charged for the service was unacceptable. If I were to conduct business in this manor it wouldn't be long before I didn't have any business. The service call was less than an hour and the part that was replaced was on the truck of the tech. When we received our bill there was no description of parts or labor. When I called the company to get a breakdown because of the excessive cost, I was told there was no breakdown and the cost is what it is. Is this a professional manor? I certainly will not recommend this company. read more
