I arrived 5 min late (I took wrong exit and had to drive extra 4 miles!). I texted my ETA en route. Charlie's response: you have 10 am appointment? I think he forgot. When I arrived he had someone in the chair. I waited 30 minutes exactly. While waiting another person with an appointment for Charlie walked in. Then Charlie took 4 breaks to text very extended messages and took a call. I asked him how long the service would take, and he said 2.5 hours - he was done in under 2 hours. So I then had to sit and wait since my husband was picking me up. The color, toner, and hair wash were great, but the haircut was a little different. First he used a fine toothed comb and yanked my hair from root to end ripping out knots caused by his hair dryer technique. When I asked him to be more gentle and not rip my hair, he said it was due to hair damage and that I should use a mask (I've used a keratin treatment for softening hair 3x this week). He used a men's hair trimmer to cut my hair all the way around! Pretty different. I'm used to scissors. It does look pretty good, so I may try again. Just very different from what I'm used to.

I don't love my hair or my experience and felt like I didn't do myself a favor going groupon. I usually am pretty conservative with my hair. I do pretty subtle highlights and also hair coloring to just add dimension. i was more concerned with a hair cut this time because i wanted it shorter to start the new year and wanted to grow my bangs out. i'll do a recap of the situation: - I showed up a little early and she told me she was running late. that was 15 minutes late to be exact. - i felt uncomfortable filling out the inital form because it asks alot of info about you i.e where you work and where you live. -when i first met her i disclosed to her how i usually liked my hair and asked for her opinion on what kind of hair cut i should get. she told me she doesnt do that and that i should look online for some haircuts i want first and she'll cut it for me. she concentrated more on the highlights than i did and when she showed me a highlight color i was kind of ok with it. -actual highlighting- she was really agressive on applying my foils. she'd push my head down and slather the mix on my foil. there was a point where the foil almost cut my eye but she didn't notice. when she got near the top of my head I asked her if i left my hair down if the roots would show. she said it would i told her i didn't want that. and she said "well if you didnt want that why did you want highlihgts. do you know what highlights is" she could have easily just stopped. but she told me that she could correct it by addign ANOTHER color for and ADDITIONAL $30. i was already irritated by this and said sure whatever then she says to me "Why id your face so serious you look better if you smile" well it was serious because of you. It all went downhill after that. she went into the more "careful": mode and tried to talk to me to lighten the mood up but i was already too upset. she got too probing and made really cheeky comments that put me off more. including stating that i'm really spoiled becuase i was the youngest in my family and that i must be super super smart. she also kept on reitterating how lucky i was to get an appt with her becuase shes so busy. she missed 30 calls and her phone was blowing up with texts for appts but she was ignoring them to spend time with me... but i was on her appt so wouldnt it make sense to get her undivided attention? i didn't get it. then she kept on sayign its the holidays and she didnt want to stress me out. she ended up butchering my bangs. my hair is ok length. i have to curl it every day if i want to put it down. since i've had my hair cut my hair has been up 90% of the time to let it grow out more. my friends were surprised i tipped her. i'm slightly surprised given how unhappy i was. i wasted 3 hours nearly to have shorter hair, messed up bangs, and hair that was slightly copper brown compared to what it was before. i will have to dye it again once it grows out so that the roots dont show terribly. it wasn't an amazing trip by any means. i'll go back to my place in seattle and never cheat on my hairdresser again.

I was in for a cut and color which he knew since I scheduled with him personally. I told him OVER and OVER not to put much gold in my hair or it'll turn orange, I thought we had that understood. After applying my color he said he'd be back in 20 minutes to pull it through the ends, he took his iPad and left. It must have been a really intense soccer game, 40 minutes later he came back and pulled the color through left it on about 20 mins and rinsed me out. After coming back to his station he tried to ignore that my roots were bright ORANGE, I said politely "its looking pretty warm and orange" he looked at me confused and said, you think so? Lets dry it and really see, he did and I said "you gave me hot roots". He then said, ok I'll put a toner on you we'll leave it on about 5 minutes, he did and left be by the shampoo area for about 15 mins. After rinsing it out it was all the same color, and he said So anything else? did you want a cut too? UH YA! thats what I was scheduled for and that was my main concern, but I guess with the soccer game he forgot. He kept saying ok so just a trim? maybe a half inch off? My hair was way over grown and I was again trying to explain my concerns to him about it needing shape and style and a good cut so it doesn't just hang there. I am pretty sure he only cut and inch off because here I am 3 weeks later and in desperate need of a hair cut!! I will say he did a great job of blowdrying my hair because when I left my hair looked good, it was shiny and smooth. But basically I paid $175 for orange hot roots, a mediocre haircut and a good blow dry. (could have paid a whole lot less at HairMasters) I don't think I'd return again. We all know it can be a little awkward when were getting our hair cut and conversing with our hairstylist. There was not one awkward moment. And she periodically asked me how she was doing just to make sure i liked the cut I was getting. I semi-recently moved back to Seattle and couldn't find anywhere I really liked. I am hooked on Indulge and am so happy I found a salon that works for me. It is so conveniently located on mercer island. They are so friendly right when you walk in the door. The only reason I gave it five stars is because I couldn't give it six.

She is very busy so make sure to call for an apt, though I only called on Wednesday and was able to get a Saturday apt early on. The business's policies and communication have been confusing and unprofessional. The disclaimer…read morestates that if a deposit is not paid, an appointment will not be booked. However, I was able to book an appointment without paying the $50 deposit. Later, I received text messages stating that I could not schedule any future appointments until I paid the deposit because I had allegedly missed an appointment, but not thinking that it was actually booked until I paid it! This creates unnecessary confusion and miscommunication about whether the deposit is actually required. If the deposit is mandatory, the booking system should consistently enforce that policy, and not allow you to book without payment! I also do not appreciate being contacted through personal text messages regarding an alleged balance. If the business believes I owe a fee, I would expect a formal invoice or written documentation through the appropriate business channels. Repeated text messages requesting payment are not a professional way to handle billing matters. Definitely will take my 450.00 elsewhere!
