I needed some cannolis and looked up online local bakeries…read more lake George was closed so while I was in Saratoga I searched and found Ms Londons Took the chance, in winter sometimes I worry bc it's sort of off-season but I stopped by and luckily they did have them! It was for a birthday I made cannoli cake but didn't want to make the actual cannolis to save time but wanted a higher quality version than price chopper I also got a latte and it was very good- nice and hot (some places they're kinda cooler) The service was great a woman with short brown hair helped me & made the latte. It was a very cute cafe /bakery and idk if they make their desserts but if they do- great job! Im happy either way and the birthday boy said the cannolis were perfect.

This is a tragedy. And that is not a word I use lightly either…read more What kind of person buys a gem like Mrs. London's and doesn't take the time to learn the recipes, master the craft, and maintain the standards of what was once arguably the best boulangerie and patisserie in America? Seriously, there is someone here to blame. What is their name? I want to know. Sure, it's not a civil or criminal offense. But it's a crime against food. It's a crime against the people of Saratoga Springs. And it's just plane offensive. I regret if anyone was driven to try Mrs. London's based on my previous glowing reviews. I am so sorry. I had no idea. But I was just there this morning. I gazed into the pastry case at the croissants, and my heart sank. I felt sick. The croissants looked like something you would see in an airport. I think the croissants at Costco might be better. These were flat, flabby, and pale things. Far from the perfect, golden, flaky, structured, glistening beauties of the past. And this isn't about fond recollections. I have receipts. Photos from the past and pictures of the present. It's night and day. If the new owners aren't going to preserve Mrs. London's food, they should have the decency to put someone else's name on the joint. I too asked about the breads, and was told "their baker retired". Fortunately, Michael London taught other people to bake amazing artisan bread, and his legacy lives on elsewhere. Unfortunately, nobody at the shop bearing his name bothered to pick up the torch. What a shame. It is so sad. I am literally heart broken. This was one of my favorite bakeries in the country. I went out of my way to make a special stop in my limited time passing through the region. But I suppose nothing lasts forever, and this is a valuable reminder of that unfortunate fact. My days visiting Mrs. London's are over. I can no longer recommend it in good conscience. Perhaps the hot chocolate is still good, and the decor is still lovely. However, if you look closely at the glowing reviews, they all point back to a time that has now sadly passed.

Oh My YUM! Sweet Mimi's is a must when you visit Saratoga…read moreSprings. They do not accept reservations so don't be surprised if there is a wait... even on a Thursday late morning. We didn't have to wait long. I think maybe like 10 minutes. It's a small quaint restaurant on Phila Street not far off of Broadway. We walked here from our hotel (Hilton) as parking anywhere/everywhere in Saratoga can be a challenge. There is street parking right in front of Sweet Mimi's but it'll probably be taken so you should probably just walk. And you'll appreciate the walk to help burn off a few calories of Sweet Mimi's delicious offerings. (And there are plenty to partake in.) We enjoyed the Cinnamon Roll French Toast and the Mediterranean Omelette. We did not leave disappointed. In fact, our tastebuds and tummies were so happy with our choices. The omelette actually came with the same challah bread that the french toast was made from. If I lived closer, I'd be buying that challah bread every week. It's so freakin' good! The french toast is HUGE! Really... you should share it. The several bites I took were incredibly satisfying. The cinnamon was just right. And because it was already sweet... we opted to forgo the syrup. The french toast also came with a bunch of blueberries, blackberries and raspberries!! The med omelette was filled with sausage, spinach and tomatoes. I loved every bite. I don't know when we'll be back tin Saratoga... but I will definitely be coming back to Sweet Mimi's when I do.

Pros: - the most soft serve flavors in the area…read more- willing to stack flavors - great sundaes - cute seating area - staff is nice - open until 9 pm most evenings Cons: - no hard serve ice cream - items not as described, in particular, the "slush float" (a traditional root beer float is ice cream on the bottom and soda poured on top) is 90% slushie and 10% ice cream put on the top - ice cream began melting prior to receiving it (temp 65° outside) - slow service - parking lot is not safe as the lines are not maintained by line guides Tips: - cash only business We chose Humpty Dumpty due to good experiences previously. We had some challenges on our visit to include slow service and line formation was confusing and awkward as we were in one line going into the drive traffic. We originally ordered a medium soft serve cone and a slush float which was made backwards from the traditional float where the ice cream is placed on the bottom and is usually the equivalent of two scoops of ice cream and then the liquid, so in this instance slush. We received 90% slush and a dollop of ice cream on the top. It was really a major disappointment. Especially, because the slush is $2.50 and a slush "float" is $4.75. That was NOT at $2.75 worth of ice cream. Unfortunately, it was so bad i had to wait in line a second time because my son refused to consume it. When I got to the window, I explained that a float traditionally has the ice cream on the bottom, but this was met with lack of empathy and me paying for another item. The slush "float" was thrown out and the clerk knew it was getting thrown out, but we happily paid full price for our disappointment. I've never heard of a float having the ice cream on the top and wanted to make sure to add this to the review to avoid you having disappointment as well. I'm not doing well at the terms and lingo for this business. I ordered a medium ice cream in a dish to go. I've never seen an ice cream be overflowing like a cone in a dish. Had the medium ice cream melted, it would be everywhere and definitely did not fit the dish size. There is a small seating area to the side, but please be careful, the parking lot is not well lit and people will come in at 15 mph and not yield to pedestrians. I don't think we'll be back this season. Maybe next year we can try again. This years staff isn't vibing with our expectations.

That fright disappears quickly though once you're inside. Bruce, the owner, is happy to school you in the 5 sauces, and also give you ice cream samples. He makes everything right here. It's a passion project for him and frigg'n delicious. He's happy to talk..... about anything. He's just happy you're here. There are a couple tables that you can sit at inside. But beware, despite its proximity to Saratoga, this is the furthest thing from pretentious. If you're looking for a sit-down dinner with waiters.... This Ain't It. The ice cream is flavorful, unique, and easy to keep going. The strawberry lemon ice is INSANELY delicious. You can taste the freshness of the berries. Soooo good. Soooo refreshing. It's perfect. Well... maybe a hint of a mint leaf might be nice. The barbecue is spot on. The homemade sauces...just take his advice. Have him sauce the meat she way he wants. You won't be disappointed. The "sampler trough" could use some work. It's delicious, but everyone wants a well parsed out sampler. We want to try it all, Bruce. So... may we suggest some small metal trays for the base. Then... pickles, add the beans, potato salad, Mac n cheese, and some kind of bread to mop it up. We tried it for the first time, and even got "seconds" to go. You should go here, be brave. You'll be rewarded and happy you did.

Not pre packaged but made with care like everything else. Lastly, owner/proprietor, Bruce is someone who is passionate about his business. You're not eating at a chain. It is not pretentious, just good food you would find at a friends house. That's really the best way to describe the feeling you will leave with. Don't be afraid to ask about anything. Brilliant conversation is hard to come by. So this is a strong recommendation on my must-try list

The cashier recommended the mahi-mahi and the chicken tacos. Both exceeded my expectations, but I think I prefer the mahi-mahi. The shredded chicken was juicy and tender though. Uncommon Grounds had all the makings of a fine sit n' sip: high ceilings, superfluous interior arches, mildly darkened aesthetic, tin ceiling tiles, and an abundance of screamin' local artistry dressing up the joint. Brothers and sisters... I was stoked about the possibility of churning out some real Aldi-grade literature at one of the chunky timber perches. I was ready for a slammin cup of joe and a sick-ish vibe. Alas, all I got from behind the counter was a jersey stuffed with caustic disdain and affected arrogance. It was impressive in that the tone, delivery, volume and words were all brilliantly matched in conveying unmistakable I-wish-you'd-get-the-flip-outta-my-space-clappery. I know the exact phrasing and such would go a long way here, but the whole dang affected setup I received from the other side of the counter would be hella exhausting to recount. And not worth my time. To be clear, my time really ain't worth all that much. Now I could go on to tell you about the rest of the experience, the quality of the bagels and the consistency of the schmear, and the tones you'll find playing throughout the house-roasted brews. But as a journeyman writer in the café world, I'm not gonna waste any more descriptors on the brat-infused tea steeping at the front of house. Why? Simply because cafés are more than the drink and grub. Cafés are as solid an offering of what culture Earth has to offer across its varied continents, countries, and street corners. They are something to engage with and experience directly. Like riding a scooter across Vietnam. Like a Moroccan food market. Like wiping volcanic ash off your hiking boots after a day's hike in Cinder Cone. If the human engagement of the place is reprehensible, then in IMHO the treats and steeps don't matter. Disappointments happen. That's for sure. But I'm only gonna spend two more sentences telling you what you probably already gathered about this place. It's slippin' baby. It's slippin'.
