Several years ago, my minor daughter got her ears pierced here. We were impressed with the piercer and recommended Industrial to several friends for piercings. I scheduled my (still) minor daughter for a nose piercing. At no point was I alerted extra documentation was necessary. Took the day off work for a special surprise day with her and showed up 15 min early. She was beyond excited. We were told we needed her original birth certificate AND passport. Okay, went home and came back with all the newly-identified appropriate documents. At that point I was told there had been a "miscommunication" and we could not get her nose pierced. We scheduled online days before, came early and rushed home to comply, what miscommunication? No clue. The person we spoke to just kept saying the same sentence over and over. In addition to being super poor management and communication, it was just weird. Monster's Ink took my call, heard my sob story, and took us immediately. With a big smile trying to brighten my now totally bummed kid's day. Nose pierced, memory made. No thanks to Industrial. Not going to deal with this drama again. For a business as established as this, I would expect much better. read more

Going to a tattoo & piercing studio can often times be intimidating. Everyone is so cool and alternative and clearly cool with pain and a lot of times you're met with attitude like you're the squarest square of the squares that ever squared. But not here. At Industrial Tattoo you'll walk in and be greeted politely. Welcomed even. No matter how square you might look. You'll often get your own personal ambassador to help you with what you're looking for and answer your questions and they never make you feel like they have something better to do. I've come here for nostril & septum jewelry probably a dozen times. They offer an incredible selection and work diligently to make sure you're both comfortable and happy in your experience and end result. I've also come here for eyebrow microblading but to be honest it wasn't my favorite and I ended up going back to my old shop to get them redone only a few months later because they faded so quickly. I think it's a great option if you like a real natural brow enhancement and are unsure about more permanent methods, but I like my brows to be on the heavier side and more prominent side so I think it just maybe wasn't a great match for my personal brow style but great for others. The piercing people I've met here are not just kind, but humble, even... which is something I have not experienced with piercers at other shops. They do their very best to educate you so your piercings and tattoos will last and keep you in good health. I've seen a few times where students came in wanting a piercing that requires a fair amount of upkeep and could involve some complications with your dental health and the staff here were great with explaining the risks and that there's a waiting period for certain types of piercings so you can think about the possible long-term effects, but they do it in a kind way and from experience because they want you to know what you're getting into and be fully informed of the risks as well as benefits. read more

I have gotten pierced at Industrial on three separate occasions for a total of 7 piercings. They have an incredible selection of jewelry, especially 14k gold options, as well as a wide variety of price points. Each time I've gone, I've seen a different piercer and each of them have been wonderful. So far, Marina was my favorite piercer I've been to, but I also had an apprentice piercer a couple years ago for my lobes and and Jamie for my conch + flat. All of them did wonderful jobs and were really transparent throughout the process. Will probably get many more piercings done here (as many as my ears have space for!!) read more

Last week was my third time going to industrial tattoo for more ear piercings. My goal is to have my ear all decked out in pretty studs and jewelry, their Instagram page also had me inspired to just go in last Sunday and do it already! I was happy to find a date and time that worked for me two days prior to scheduling it and I was scheduled for 5:55. When I arrived to check in, the individual at the entrance was incredibly friendly, just super genuine and patient, my partner and I showed our vax cards and we were told next steps would be picking out jewelry for my front helix and then we'd meet with whomever was doing the piercing. The next person who had vibrant red hair was just as nice as the first individual and showed me all my options in jewelry, different price points and they were encouraging throughout aka they liked whatever I was deciding between so it definitely made me more pumped up and happy with my decision to finally come in. I decided to treat myself with an actual gold piece that had lavender shade tanzanite, I knew I wanted that shape off of what I saw on their Instagram page. The inside is really nice and clean, lots of things to look at behind the glass but not too much seating which I'm sure is intentional cause they're very health conscious with a global pandemic and all. And this hasn't happened the last two times but there was a tiny bit of a wait, my appointment was for 5:55pm and we got out of there at 7:10pm but that was only cause they were down a person so the day had been crazy but everyone there was still so nice, so welcoming! Including Nash, the one who did my piercing! So supportive, gassing me up the whole time and their communication was amazing, guided me through every step of the process so I'd know what to expect. I especially liked when Nash would say "okay you're going to feel a little pressure here" or "nice, full breaths, just some pressure here" cause I would expect just some intense pain or pressure but it would be a breeze! Nash's communication had me feeling prepared and strong, I really appreciated it. Don't get me wrong, the piercing hurt, but it was quick. While the piercing remained sensitive that night and the next day (learned to be more gentle with washing my face or brushing my hair) it hasn't even been a week and I feel like this piercing has been here the whole time. Thank you Nash, thanks to the Industrial crew, all so welcoming and helpful and I'm obviously going to come back! read more

I first came to industrial 10 years ago to get a tattoo. This time, I came for a septum piercing. First off, they are super queer affirming now. One of the first questions I was asked was if the name on my ID was the name I identify as. And on the release form there was a spot to put pronouns. Their new business cards are really cute combined pride/trans flags that are also stickers. The person who helped me choose jewelry was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and sweet. Marina did the piercing itself which was super fast and professionally done...and it didn't hurt at all. Literally no pain and it was done before I even knew what was happening. Marina knows what she's doing! This was by far the best experience I've had with piercing anywhere and I highly recommended industrial! Also they can get really busy on the weekends or in the afternoon. I arrived (for a walk-in appointment) at around 2 and it was just before the big rush so if you don't want to wait too long, earlier is better. read more

I quickly choose a piece and then asked to see another jewelry for another piercing when the worker told me no, my time was up for shopping and would have to come back another time. I've gotten pierced here twice and come by here many, many other times to buy jewelry, get a new piece of jewelry put in, or just to ask about the health of my piercing (nothing serious -- these folks really know what they're doing!). Each time the staff has been very professional, informative, and just generally very accommodating to me. Based on my experiences, I would highly recommend getting pierced by Marina. I got my septum piercing from her and while I went in very scared for how painful it might be, she helped me feel secure and even had a great conversation with her. The only downside to this place is that the wait can be kind of long and unpredictable. I've had times when I've gone in waiting to get new jewelry put in and been told that I would be waiting about 15-20 minutes had to wait over an hour. Other times, though, I've been in and out in a matter of 20 minutes. I would definitely err on the safe side, though, and clear my schedule for the next few hours if I coming back here. read more

I had an appointment with Marina today and everything went awesome! There are a few parking garages that's about 5-10 minutes walk from the shop. The first 60 minutes was free. I was out for about 1 hr and a half and ended up paying a dollar for parking. I thought it would take awhile for me to choose a jewelry but it only took me a minute. It was supposed to be a navel and a nipple piercing. There weren't a lot of jewelry options but I liked all of them so I didn't mind. They were a little behind today and ended up waiting for almost an hour. My appointment time was supposed to be 2:20 pm to 3:00 pm, but was able to get pierced at around 2:50 pm. Folks might take a off because of this, but it didn't feel like forever for me since I was extremely nervous . The front desk were very nice and checked up on the piercer as soon I asked them if I'll see the piercer soon since my appointment time was almost over lol. Marina made me feel comfortable and was very professional. Despite her being behind schedule, she didn't rush at all and assured me that I can take a few minute breaks in between piercings. She was very honest about my body not being a good candidate for a navel piercing and may result to more complications. I followed her professional input and thanked her for her honesty. So I ended up having both nipples pierced. The whole process was great and I'm really happy that I chose Marina to pierce me. Would love to have her do my ear piercings soon ! The jewelry price varies. The more simpler styles were about $35. The jewelry I chose was about $80 each. I ended up paying about $300 including the saline spray and tip. read more

Ear Downsize/ Change Review Only I noticed that most 1 Star reviews are due to individuals not being knowledgeable on quality jewelry pricing. You should walk in knowing that it is a separate fee for the service, separate fee for the back part of jewelry, and a separate fee for the actual jewelry you want to wear (prices depend on kind of material, stones, stoneless, etc.). Do not let pricing scare you away, just think of it as an investment for your body. Why you want to put anything less than quality in your body anyway? With that said, save up for a treat yourself kind of day and you won't be disappointed. (Coming from someone who grew up going to Claire's/ Piercing Pagoda/ non APP member shops because they were "cheaper" TRUST ME. Your body will thank you) As for front desk service, I had made 3 separate appointments since I wanted to do 3 things: downsize, buy new jewelry, and put that newly bought jewelry in my other healing piercing. They didn't tell me if I was wrong or right for that but, once I got in, and told the receptionist what I was there for they had me sign a waiver, show vax proof and updated what would have been my 45 min worth of scheduled appointment to just 20 min (received email notification) I just assumed they thought it wouldn't take long for the requested services. The receptionist told me I could sit and wait to be called. I was surprised at the amount of customers in the store since their website said that we couldn't bring any guests (I had my husband wait in the car haha). Anyway, it took about 20 min of waiting before I was called back in. I took upon myself to look at the jewelry while waiting considering everyone else was also browsing. Marina (the piercer) was very nice and welcoming as she called me back to the room. I told her what I wanted done and she was confused that no one approached me to pick out jewelry. I figured it must've been a mix up when my appointments were adjusted. She quickly apologized, helped me pick out jewelry (which was quick since I browsed a bit while waiting), then knocked out both the downsize and jewelry upgrade for my piercings. I like that she was honest and told me that one of my piercings was still too swollen to downsize. She answered all my questions and even gave me recommendations on other shops to check out if I was in that area. Total time still took 45 min which is what I expected. So I would suggest making multiple appointments and have the shop adjust it to their liking, rather than expect them to be quick with just one appointment made. Quality can not be rushed! Normally I only tip based on service total and not the total with the jewelry price. But Marina made my experience worth it and I just happily pressed the premade tip suggestion. :) I will come back for the other downsizing and possible future piercings and update my response as needed! read more

Updating my review for excellent service, knowledge, and professionalism! I went in to consult with a piercer to see if I have suitable anatomy for a rook piercing. I came in and was greeted by a staff member, who called over one of the professional piercers. I sat down with Jamie, who examined my rook and said that yes it was possible, and explained that it would have to be pierced at a certain angle. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he said it wasn't doable with my anatomy but suggested different jewelry types for the same look. He was very clear that the look was possible and the shop would work with me to achieve it but it would require an investment of time and money. I wasn't planning to get pierced that day and I felt no pressure to do so. I decided to get a second opinion at their competitor next door, Zebra. Zebra's prices are about 25% lower. I walked up and told the staff member at the door that I wanted an anatomy consult on a rook piercing. He looked at it for half a second and said "yeah I think they can do that, I'll fill out a piercing card for you." I explained I wasn't ready for a piercing but was hoping to get a consult from a piercer. The staff member called over another member of the staff taking a break outside. This gentleman had stretched lobes that looked badly irritated, which did not give me confidence in his aftercare knowledge or professionalism. He also took a quick look and said "yeah probably". I felt so much better listened to and taken care of at Industrial. I'm glad I was able to speak to an actual piercer and understand the limitations as well as workarounds. I never felt like the goal was to get me in the piercing chair and make money. The extra cost is worth the professionalism, safety, and knowledge that this shop offers and I won't be going anywhere else! read more

I have gotten two piercings at Industrial, and had great experiences each time. I got my doubles and a tragus with Marina and a helix with Lysa. Each time you come in, someone working in the front will give you a consultation to decide where you want your piercing and pick out jewelry. They were super knowledgeable and helped me out when I didn't know exactly what I wanted.  You then sign a waiver and wait for your artist. Sometimes this can take an hour or so if they are busy, but I don't mind walking around Berkeley.  My artists confirmed where I wanted my piercings and told me what they were doing as they did it. This made me feel totally comfortable. I'll be back at Industrial for my next piercing! read more

This shop is one of the best I've been to! It's so clean and the rooms you're pierced in feel so amazingly private. The staff are nice and care about your pronouns and name, which is an extra nice touch. They get busy sometimes which causes a long wait but that's only a testament to how good they are. They only carry high quality jewelry which can be on the expensive side, but it's great to know you can trust the materials in the jewelry. read more

About a month ago, I decided to finally get my cartilage piercing. To some, this may not be a big deal, but for me, it has been something I've been pondering on and off for about 10 years. Talk about procrastination, right? While the piercing cost for Industrial was a bit higher than I expected,at the end of the day, I felt like it was worth it for their excellent customer service and the quality of my piercing (no infections! :)). They don't have a wide selection of earrings, but they do have the basics. They were very patient with me while I was choosing my earring which I greatly appreciated. In terms of the piercing process, Andrea was extremely patient and kind. She clearly explained everything to me and the pain itself was definitely not as bad as I imagined. In fact, I would compare it to the same pain as ear lobe piercing. She was also very thorough in explaining the aftercare process. (Fyi, they sell piercing saline spray at Industrial). Since my piercing is healing so well right now, I'm already thinking about getting my second cartilage piercing lol! read more

I've been coming to Industrial since I moved back to the North Bay in 2018 even though it's a bit of a commute for me. Most recently I came in a couple times for jewelry changes and paired high nostril piercings. Both times I was in, everyone was super helpful and kind. The staff are super organized and allowed for me to drop off old jewelry that I had purchased at the shop previously to be sterilized for new piercings. Marina was my piercer for all 4 of my nostril piercings and I can't say enough how wonderful she is! Even when it was a super busy Sunday, they were down a piercer, and I was a little slow, she still took her time with me, making sure I was happy with the placement, and answering all of my questions. We also chatted and laughed the entire time (except when there were sharp pieces of metal in my nose of course!). I felt very comfortable, safe, and cared for. Their jewelry is expensive but is on par with other shops throughout the state that sell the same quality of jewelry. I always feel good about going here because everyone strictly follows COVID guidelines and normal safe piercing procedure (gloves, sterilizing, hand washing, etc) plus I know the jewelry is high quality. I got my industrial piercing and my belly button piercing both done here. I trust this place so much that I came back here for a tattoo :). It was pretty last minute though, I was basically a walk in but I figured that the tattoo itself was simple so how can yah really mess it up. I was helped by Joe and he was great!! Super nice and professional. Explained everything well and at no point did I regret anything ever. He gave his professional opinion and made sure that the placement and sizing were to my liking. I was kind of on the fence about a few things but he made sure that I got what I wanted. For the actual tattoo- pain is equivalent to like- laser hair removal- er that was the closest thing I could think of. I saw his artwork and tattoo's in progress too and everything was well drawn. He's doing the original 150 pokemon for 150 too so hurry and get it before all the good ones are taken! First off, I know I'm always in good hands at Industrial - they hold the highest standards for sanitization & cleanliness and have the most attentive and friendly staff. Second time getting pierced at Industrial with Marina. She's awesome! She clearly knows what she's doing - I love the placement of all the piercings she's done for me. My first time was a while back, I got my nostril double pierced (already had the first piercing), and the second time, I was repiercing my doubles on my ear lobes. She was super helpful on my ear piercings because I'd originally gotten them done at Claire's with a piercing gun about 8 years ago, so she let me know that the placement was a little crooked and when I asked for her opinion, she gave me the much better option that I ended up going with over the original placement. She's also very friendly and patient - answers any questions you have throughout the process. The reception folks are also super helpful and nice. They give accurate wait times and will also offer opinions on jewelry pieces you're looking at. I got my nose piercing here about a year ago or so on a Friday night around 7. The wait was about 40 minutes (they were very busy that day). The second time, a Friday at around 3, I only had to wait about 15 minutes. The jewelry is quite expensive (I also just always gravitate towards expensive pieces smh), but it's good quality and they have very cute pieces. read more

I've been coming here for YEARS literally almost 10 years. I've bought MANY MANY jewelry from here, expensive and overpriced yet I stayed loyal. I'm sooooooo annoyed and upset. 1. They only have long stem nose rings that they can't cut and file for you.... 2. The guy who removed a simple nose ring was using the wrong tool, pinched my nose, now it's red and ugly. (This piercing is about 4 years old and was completely healed.) 3. I also have an ugly keloid scar on my neck which before was removed I did not have. 4. I ordered a piece and was told I would receive a call and never did... waited 3 months! I'm not calling them to ask if it's been received, not my job. (Thank goodness I didn't put down a deposit) I don't think I'll be coming here anymore. Sad to say bc the owner is super cool but scar after scar when the piercing was just fine before.... not worth the money. read more

Due to work and extracurricular activities, I had taken all of my piercings out. The last time I had had any piercing done was 5 or more years ago. Now that I am able to be more flexible in my appearance, I decided to go and at least start with reopening or re-piercing my ears. My first visit was on a Wednesday after work. I arrived with a bit more than an hour before closing time. I met with Wes who had me fill out the waiver and helped me pick out jewelry for my piercings. I sat for 35-40 minutes until I was seen. Jamie did an awesome job checking to see if any of my previous piercings were still open. To my surprise, they were and he was able to add the jewelry that I had picked out. I should have checked the other piercings as well, but I wanted to pace myself. A week later, I was so happy with what I had done, I decided I wanted to get my second piercings checked. Once again I was met by the staff and I was able to pick out jewelry and fill out the digital waiver. This time I was with Marina who was able to re open one piercing, but the one in my left ear had closed up. No big deal, she had me lay down, take a deep breath and viola. The shop is clean and organized. The staff is friendly, helpful, and above all professional. They shop is on the expensive side, but you do pay for what you get. High quality jewelry and piercers who know what they're doing. read more

okay so i usually don't give reviews but i felt like i had to because i had such a great experience. when i initially got my nose pierced at a different shop i was given poor advice and incorrect jewelry that resulted in the dreaded irritation bump. i tried to get my jewelry changed but my previous piercer refused and said it would "cause more complications" and i knew this was untrue and i had to find a new piercer. i went on the APP website to find a nearby piercing place and industrial tattoo showed up. i booked a jewelry change appt with Anwyn and they were so sweet! told me what went wrong, changed my jewelry from a super snug hoop to a flat back labret (super gentle btw!), and let me know when to come in to get my jewelry downsized. after a week my irritation bump has shrunk so much and it's barely noticeable. can't wait to come in for my downsizing appt and for future piercings! read more

This place is really great for what they do and what they offer. However, I've only had experience with their piercing side. They have a great selection of high quality (and high end) body jewelry. The front folks are knowledgeable and attentive. My only issue with them is their lack of preparation for crowds. I waited over an hour and half just to have my jewelry changed. They were very understaffed on a Saturday. You would think that they would prepare for the weekend crowds accordingly. It felt as if they even forgot about my place in line at some point after I pointed out that people that had gotten there after me were being attended before me. They kept saying a another piercer was going to show up "in 15 mins"... but never did during my hour and half there. This last experience with them left a bad feeling. Piece of advice- don't go on the weekend (even tho that seems like the logical time to go as working folks). I hope they hire more staff or become better organized with how they triage clients. read more
