How could I have forgotten about Infinite?! My dad first discovered them like 15 years ago and I used to have him pick things up for me all the time since he worked a few blocks away. I was recently walking by and they were open so I decided to take a little trip down memory lane. They have something like 20 different soups that rotate, several of which are vegetarian/vegan. I went with a mushroom tortellini, which was really just as good as I remember their products being. The shop isn't much to look at, but that's clearly because all the love goes into the soup! I always order from the vegan soup list, most recently the coconut curried potato, and I get whatever my stepmother wants for her, usually something with meat, such as her recent lunch of Italian pork and mushroom. This is a great little spot to grab soup to go! There's no seating inside and it's cash only. They have their menu sectioned with vegetarian and vegan options, super clear! Looks like they have a rotating menu of soup daily. We snuck in towards close and they were out of almost everything. We ended up with a potato cheese soup and it was so good we went back and got another one. They have a discount if you buy two (I think pints) of the same flavor. Tried Tacoma's version of the Soup Nazi. So good! I tried the spicy ham and collard greens and the chicken marsala. Both were outstanding. I wish the marsala had either a pasta noodle of some type or potato in it. Regardless, it was great. The ham and greens was really good too. Looking for it to be a little saltier, but still excellent. The chicken gorgonzola tortellini is phenomenal. No need to adjust anything here. I've had to stop eating at Infinite Soups, for exactly one reason which is pointed out in another dozen reviews here. It's too salty. I'm not talking about too salty for your health or blood pressure, I mean a lot of their soup feels like drinking seawater because everything is SO heavily and dramatically over salted. If the business owners are reading this, search your reviews for "salt" or "salty" and then give your chef a stern talking to. Not everyone has the tolerance of someone that's been cooking professionally for a good amount of time. The menu would be world-class if they cut the salt back by a third or a half even. read more

Great flavor and solid variety, and I love that their bread comes from local sources. Customer service is hit or miss. My first visit was great, but every time after that, when I've dealt with a woman with long dark hair and black glasses, she's come across rushed, short, and cold. I love Infinite Soups and I'm so glad I found this place via Yelp. It's a small little take-and-go counter, cash only. The soup list is on the counter or on Facebook, when a soup sells out, it's gone until next time. Besides soup, they have some cool other stuff for sale, like records. Take as many crackers as you want, honor system. The staff is friendly, and more importantly, Infinite Soups is a good neighbor, meaning they participate in fundraisers for local causes and support other local businesses. But, most important of all, the soups are legit. I'm a soup lover and I've tried quite a few of their soup offering and they have all been delicious! My favorites so far have been the Chicken Pozole Verde and the Spicy Hungarian Sausage, I'm looking forward to trying the Korean Potato Stew. I'll warn you, if you order a spicy soup, it's going to be spicy, they're not playing around! And I like it that way! read more

My partner and I love soup. So we came lol. They have a HUGE menu of options that changes regularly. The menu is posted daily to their Facebook of all places. I wish they were on Instagram as it's more accessible for me but it's really not a problem. Ambiance - don't let the ambiance scare you away. It's a little dingey, real hole in the wall with no seating. Grab and go. But you're here for soup. Service - straight forward here, not much else to speak on except for the fact that they let you sample any soup you want which is great. Keep in mind this place is CASH ONLY which is annoying but there's an ATM down the street at the mini mart. Food - great selection of soups. Because they let you sample them, you're always happy with your choice. They are nice and hot and homemade. One of the highlights of my last trip to Washington was visiting Infinite Soups in Tacoma, Washington. Owners Wendy Clapp and Todd Deshazo managed The News Tribune cafeteria prior to creating Infinite Soups. Their soups were by far their most popular item. They started by selling their soup at a weekly farmers market. They opened their brick and mortar location at 445 Tacoma Ave. S. in 2007. Over the years, Infinite Soups has offered more than 1500 different types of soup. They create an estimated 100 new soup recipes each year. Clapp states, "I think soup is a democratic food, you know? Every culture eats soup. Every income level eats soup. Everybody eats soup!" The soups offered include traditional soups from all over the world. The soups are made from produce sourced from Zestful Gardens, a small organic farm and CSA in the Puyallup Valley, near Tacoma. Infinite Soups offers 17-20 soups that are made from scratch every day. There are four categories available: Creamy, Non-Creamy, Vegetarian, and Vegan. If you want to have the most options available to you, you need to get there before 1 PM. For my first visit on 5/17/24, I arrived about an hour before the store closed. There were just 5 options left, none of which were my preferred Creamy style soup. The young man working behind the counter, kindly offered to let me sample all five, and I did. They were all EXCELLENT! I had a hard time deciding which one to get and asked him which of these was his favorite. He recommended the Basil Artichoke (Vegetarian). I went with it. I got a 16 ounce size. Unfortunately, that late in the day there wasn't any fresh baked bread available, so I got crackers. There is no indoor seating at Infinite Soups, so I drove to nearby Dune Peninsula at Point Defiance Park. Even though the Basil Artichoke soup was Vegetarian, it was fairly creamy. The basil flavor was subtle. It tasted more like a great Artichoke soup. Now that I know about this wonderful business, I'll be sure to visit every time I'm in town. I have been scoping this place out for years. It just happens to be in a part of town that I don't too often venture out to, but I was out on a drive and decided that I would stop by this place as it was opening soon. After looking at their Facebook page to see what was on the menu for the day, Isaw that they were supposed to be having some kind of "Soup Nazi" event (apparently a Seinfield thing that I am not familiar with)...but it got cancelled due to some drama. A line had started forming outside about 15 to 20 minutes before opening time. Everyone was nicely greeted as the business was preparing to open. The line moved pretty quickly. On this particular day they opened at 11 and were sold out of soup by 130 which is awesome, especially since the event had been canceled. I did notice the interior of the shop did need some cleaning. It looked like the floor and the front of the counter had not been cleaned very well, or for quite a while, but just hoping the kitchen is cleaner lol. I opted for 3 pints, which ran me $24, do keep in mind that this is a cash only establishment. They had about 16 soups on the menu. The menu is posted on Facebook daily and also annotates creamy, non-creamy, vegetarian, and vegan as well as gluten-free. Once I got home, of course I had to try all three soups. They all three had great flavor, but I do feel they were lacking in the meat department. I got the Mulligatawny soup which had good flavor-- nice and rich, but barely any chicken and I didn't pick up on any lentils or rice that some people might use in the soup. I also got the Sausage Jambalaya which was mild and didn't have much sausage and the Clam Chowder which, well... didn't have many clams. All in all, I think I would give it a 3.5 star rating but I would love to return in the future to try more soups and hopefully they'll have more meat lol. read more

This place has been near me my entire life and I never made a point to stop in until recently - and I'm so thankful it's only 15 minutes from home! Infinite Soups is giving "don't judge a book by its cover" because it is very unassuming. Hidden off on a random side street in Tacoma with room for only 2-3 people to stand inside and adorned with local event posters, merchandise, and tons of old records. To go hand in hand with it's no-frills appearance, please note that it is CASH ONLY, NO CARDS - this is coming from someone who failed to check that on Yelp and had to run down the street to grab cash... Whoops! The menu rotates daily and you can find the offerings on their Facebook, as well as taped to the window/counter. It's categorized into four soup types: creamy, non-creamy, vegetarian, and vegan. We got a mix of four bowls of soup to do a sampler dinner (cups are $6, bowls are $7, and pints are $8). We got the ham, cheese, and potato, smoky spanish garlic potato, chicken parmesan broccoli, and tomato basil tortellini. When you think soup you don't think it's a culinary affair, but Infinite Soups somehow elevates the taste of their soup to be almost a religious experience. It is THAT GOOD. I don't think I can pick a favorite. The smoky spanish garlic potato had a subtle smoke taste but an overall amazing flavor, and the chicken parmesan broccoli was like a grown up broccoli cheddar soup. We paired our soups with some of the cornbread for dipping which was a nice addition. Infinite Soups is definitely on the roster for upcoming rainy day lunches/dinners. Got here about 15 minutes before opening and already had a line forming. Finally got myself a weekday off so I could head down here. Staff was friendly and chatting as they opened the shop up for the day. We had checked out the menu on their Facebook page while waiting in line. All of the soups we had were divine. My two kiddos and I shared 7 cups/bowls of the Yankee Pot Roast, Hunters Meatball, 3 Cheese Potato, Pozole Verde, Garlic Mushroom Potato, Lemon Pesto Tortellini and Homestyle Chicken. My son's favorite was the Yankee Pot Roast, daughters was the Lemon Pesto Tortellini and mine was the Hunters Meatball. We will definitely be back when I can get another weekday off! We got our soups then went to Outpost Sandwich around the corner. Grabbed some sandwiches to round out lunch and headed down to Ruston for a nice summer picnic. My family prefers more chunky and non creamy and the fun thing is we each get to choose. I finally got the chance to try this amazing local soup shop and it definitely exceeded my expectations. I ordered a pint of the curried chicken stew with a baguette and the total was $11. Cash only, no seating available and it's a very small shop so just keep that in mind. Customer service was good. My first time here today and I didn't realize it was cash only so be aware! Parking was very easy to find and there was no line. It's a walk-in spot where you order at the front, so no seating, but the vibes are very retro and cool. There's a big collection of old records, some painted rocks, and an old phone on the wall! I had trouble finding the menu before going in, but the person working let me know it's updated everyday on Facebook and in the voicemail message if you call the shop. We went pretty late in the day, so much of the menu was sold out, which was frustrating.
