I came across Infront automotive from a old subaru forum online and trusted that they still might be a top shop to take your subies in that was my mistake as I should have listened to recent and most current word on the street about this shop from the autocross community around the seattle area as they will all tell you the quality of this establishment has went DOWNHILL since the last few years and now they are just focused on getting the most money from customers as possible without ensuring customer satisfaction. I brought my brand new STI here to get suspension mods installed pretty much whole suspension overhaul to turn it into autocross setup. I went with the owner (John) recommendations for the parts including sway bars, anti-lift kit, springs, shocks, camber bolts, custom alignment etc. and was left majorly disappointed as after all these mods. John comes across as very knowledgeable and experienced but what overshadows these qualities are his arrogance. greed, and old-school car salesman like pompous attitude, he was very persuasive, so it was partly my fault for being a new naive turbo Subaru car owner I agreed with what he recommended and went with his word without doing own research but now after learning from being in the car community for a year I now realize how much of an amazing job he did of ripping me off and taking advantage of my lack of knowledge in this area. Please stay away from this shop if you care at all about your car or modifications. In a nutshell after all these modifications and dropping lots of money here I had a issue with my camber as i was promised max camber and i purchased all the parts and was assured i would easily get -3 camber if I purchased these parts from this shop and got them installed there and when i picked up my car i was told they could only get -1.3 or something and i was like okay let me try it out see how it rides after a couple days i called and said i need more camber as the cornering grip was worse than before, the owner/manager Jan proceeds to tell me if i need that extra camber i need to pay for another alignment AND this was less than a week after i picked up my car was told i can 100% get a certain number of alignment, was not given that number and was told i had to pay again if i wanted any more adjustment to the alignment and also had to wait 3 weeks since they are booked. Mind you that was just one of the issues and this guy then had the AUDACITY to recommend that I buy EVEN MORE parts and installation services from him that that that will help solve this issue on a BRAND NEW CAR. That was when I came to my senses and realized all the owner Jan really cares about is his profit and his bottom line and screw customer satisfaction. I learned my lesson as I was a eager and excited naïve new sports car owner who trusted a post from YEARS ago on a Subaru forum as opposed to listening to current "word on the street" about this selfish greedy money hungry shop! There is a reason this shop has a bad rep among car enthusiasts who care about their rides, don't believe me ask anyone around the area they will say this place has gone downhill from what it used to be several years ago I only wish I had met the people that advised me to stay away from here sooner before I dropped thousands on unneeded parts/services and on top of that having to listen to this conceded owner and his know it all attitude! I hope I can find a shop that will meet expectations in the future. 5/5 Stars! I can't say enough good things about Infront. I have taken my 2015 wrx to this shop for years, with great service getting ahead of any potential issues. I recently purchased a 2021 low-mileage STI from a third party dealership. I took the STI to Eastside Subaru in Kirkland for a pre-purchase inspection and they gave the vehicle a clean bill of health. The car was driving poorly, and I took it to Infront. John quickly identified that the car had been heavily modified, put through the wringer, then returned to stock for sale. There were a number of structural issues, and the engine started poorly, idled poorly, then met a fraction of the boost that a stock STI should. Really appreciate how professional and comprehensive John was in his inspection. His diagnosis will hopefully let me part ways with a project when I was hoping to have a late-model low-mileage STI. Would 100% recommend as these folks know Subarus inside and out :-). read more

John, Jan and all of the other fine folks over and InFront Automotive are the real deal when it comes to tuning Subarus. Over the course of a year or so, with their guidance, I've taken my stock bugeye wagon and turned it into a truly special vehicle (coilovers, swaybars, trans swap, STI turbo/intercooler, 1K injectors, fuel pump, wheels, tires, etc.) And its all thanks to their helpful and friendly recommendations, planning and effort. We've been servicing our Turbo Subarus with John and the InFront team for two years now. From major overhaul to simple oil changes. Is it far from our house? A bit. Does it take time to schedule? Sometimes because they are so good and always busy. With that being said best value and the only place where I trust servicing my 10+ year car and when I drive it out I feel safer and the car is better, always. They really care about the cars and providing the best service. They have always met my timelines and never had any surprises for me other than good ones. I wish I knew about InFront sooner. I like Outback and so does everyone else, which is why this is hard for me to share. I've had a number of performance parts installed that I didn't feel comfortable doing myself but on two separate occasions there have been bolts (and subsequently parts) found loose upon arriving home or I found them loose a few days later. That's not okay and it's not worth the comparatively inexpensive labor charge. The first time I pointed it out and was offered a free oil change which was a great gesture. It happened a second time with a different installation so I call it quits. I used to drive down from Seattle but I can't justify that anymore with risk for damage to my car or to me. Other than that, prices are right, service is great, and the waiting area is awesome. I'm sad to see this one go for me. read more

I'm pretty surprised I'm the first person to review Outback Auto on Yelp, but I think it might be because they've managed to gather a pretty loyal following in the local auto communities and are getting their reviews in forums. That said, I felt I should add them here not so much to give them credit, but to tell non enthusiasts looking for a place to get their Subaru repaired who the best shop on the south end is, and it's this one. Basically, if you live on the north end AWD auto is the pace to go... if you live on the south end, Outback Auto is the the best. They do other stuff beyond Subaru, but that is kind of their specialty, I guess... And they're great at it. I had them repair my Forester twice, and not only were they affordable, but when I brought my car back in because I thought the wheel bearing on the opposite side of the one they repaired had gone bad, they were super honest about it being the side they had repaired and that the part had gone bad. They replaced it for free. AND did more work for cheap. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my car here again. read more

Cant say enough about the professional work i recieved at outback automotive. On two occasions they have helped to restore my subarus to working condition. Most recently they addressed a P0301 cylinder misfire code on my 2004 STi and changed some drive belts. My car was repaired in a timely manner and at a fair price. Additionally John was very professional as well as honest in explaining why certain aspects of my repair had to be addressed. Even though I had to have my subaru towed 50 miles to Auburn to have her repaired at outback, i would not hesitate to do so again. Thanks again to everyone at outback from a longtime subaru owner. Let me start by saying, I never have had work done here. None of my review is related to quality of work. Scheduling with this business is a pain in the ass. Email them to talk to them about work, expect to hear back wel over a week later with little info. I had scheduled a bunch of engine work and tune and had contacted them about a month before the work(they scheduled me out nearly 3 months) then they recommended work that I agree should be done, but instead of trying to get me into my original appointment, they are trying to schedule me out over a month out again. Will definitely be going to a different shop that has better communication and scheduling. read more

Super fast service and super satisfied customer. I took in my 2006 WRX wagon on a Saturday afternoon for the shop to delete some CEL codes after removing the secondary air system. I completed the delete on a random Saturday, called the shop 15 minutes later to see when was a good time to come by. I forget who I spoke to, but the dude was crazy cool on the phone and told me to come by anytime today. When I walked in, I was greeted, handed the keys, codes were taken care of almost immediately. I had brought my car to John because I had been turned down by multiple shops in the area to tune my mazdaspeed3. Knowing that they mainly work on Subaru's I didn't expect him to actually take my car in and do a tune. To my surprise I was welcomed with open arms and they began a proper inspection on my Mazda finding a few parts needed to be replaced that other shops have missed. Came here after a horrible experience at another shop. John was able to fix my problem in 1 visit for $440. The other place couldn't do it in 4 visits for $2000. John took the time to explain in simple terms what the problem was and several options for fixing it. He even wrote a 2nd opinion letter outlining the problem. First off, this place use to be legit. Now I wouldn't recommend anyone to take their car there for anything. Took my car in and they said it had a blown head gasket and quoted me around 3000$ to fix it. John also said I could do a crate motor which would cost around 4K, but those were my only two options. I couldn't afford it at the time so I had the car towed back to my house. My stepdad is a mechanic so he agreed to take a look and only found a bad water pump... Fixed the water pump and the car runs great again.... No thanks to InFront automotive trying to charge me thousands for stuff I didn't need. Stay away from these guys! They're rip offs. read more

I only have good things to say about Infront Automotive and the guys that run the business. I first came into the shop after going to 2 other shops to resolve an issue with my AVCS that was hampering my ability to get my car tuned. As I had been under a limp map for the past month and a half I was starting to lose hope that I would find a shop that could fix my issues in time for the summer. That's when I decided to give Infront a try after hearing the name pop up in the Subaru forums that I was in. First person I met when I walked through the door was the guy that works the front desk, Johnny Pham and he's honestly one of the most helpful people you could hope to run into at a tuner shop. He answers all your questions from a person to person perspective and treats your car like its one of his own. Any questions you have, no matter how simple or specific it could be hes able to answer in an easy to understand manner. Now I can't talk about Infront without also talking about JohnJohn. This man knows his stuff, highly experienced and it shows. He was able to diagnose and isolate the issues that was plaguing my car and promised me he could get it all fixed, tuned and back to me in the time frame he stated. This gave me confidence and reassurance, something I can honestly say a lot of fellow enthusiast seek in a shop. Johnny kept me up to date on all work that was being done to my car, along with pictures and videos of the processes along the way, this gave me peace of mind during the short time it was in the shop. I was able to get my car back in a timely manner and my car performed significantly better than when I first had the car having all previous issues resolved using quality parts. You could tell they pour a lot of care and precision when they work on your vehicle. They tuned my car with solid but responsible numbers, balancing power with durability and longevity of the engine in mind. JohnJohn also does motor builds which I plan on getting done in the near future, confident that I can get even bigger numbers with a stronger engine. DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS SHOP!!! I cannot stress this enough. I don't believe in writing reviews but I will find every possible site that I can to write a bad review for this shop. My fiancé has funneled thousands of dollars into this shop in the last year for many things. I've never been a fan of this shop but he insisted on going there because they are supposed to be "the Subaru specialists" every time he takes the car in we are quoted one amount and it ends up being a different amount, always much more than the original quote. About 7 months ago he paid $14,000 for a full stage 2 engine rebuild and last week his car was stolen and we took it in to get looked at and find out the damages from it being stolen (new turbo, new catalytic converter, so I finally gave him the okay to go cat-less, and a tune up, possible cracked manifold, never any mention of the engine itself being damaged) while on the dyno the engine blew. They are refusing to pay for it and decided to "cut him a deal" of $4000 for the parts and they will give him the labor for free. On top of everything else he is still paying for. Why the engine parts aren't still under warranty, especially with how much it cost to begin with, is beyond me. This shop is responsible for the damages and is refusing to pay for them. We are now in the process of contacting our lawyer and informing the better business bureau of Washington. Save yourself the time, the money and the possibility of this happening to you. Please be smart and take your business elsewhere In response to Johns comment below (the mechanic who blew the engine rod): I actually had a decent length conversation with who I'm guessing was the receptionist yesterday. I asked a lot of questions and received lots of "uhmmmms" and "let me look" and awkward silences. Which is what set me off to the point of needing to write this review. None of the information I was given by her was the information given to me just now and those were the questions I was asking. Not once did she say let me find someone who actually knows. So perhaps there should be some better communication. Again, still not understanding why not one part of the rebuild isn't under warranty? LESS THAN A YEAR LATER. As for Brock not having oil in his car, that's on him. I certainly don't treat my car the same way he does his. Guess from now I'll be checking the dip stick myself. However there was oil in it before it was stolen and idiots drive their cars around without oil in it for god knows how long with out wrecking an engine. The car was stolen for less than 24hours. Unsure as to how an engine can be that badly abused to the point of breaking in that short an amount of time. Especially with it being that new. Since there was no knocking or any kind of problem coming from the rod when we brought it in and yet somehow just "blew". I would also like to request copies of anything Brock signed for this visit, whether he signed a hold harmless agreement, copies of the dyno results while the engine was damaged and I would like to know what kind of fault insurance your company has (all within my legal rights) I've also spoken with a few other mechanics about the situation all of which were who told me it was time to contact our lawyer. I'll be sure to share this information with them, but it really doesn't change much. The engine was fine going in and came out fully damaged. read more

I am so happy a friend of mine recommended InFront to me when my saabaru's engine went out. They dealt with the warranty insurance company for me and now my car is fixed and better than ever! They were also able to help my boyfriend figure out what was wrong with his RS without even needing to see it, so he was finally able to get back on the road too. Had a great experience with this shop on 2/6/16. Drove an hour south to get there on a Saturday and got my 2009 WRX dyno tuned. John greeted me and asked me what my wants and expectations were for the tune, he was very informative. They got everything done in a just a few hours and my car has been running strong ever since. Tried to charge me twice and I had proof that they did and still they wouldn't pay me back. Luckily my bank knew it was garbage and refunded me my money. Dude is a joke and a bum take your car to PIA or All Wheel Drive Auto and save you some time and hassle and deal with true professionals. BEWARE! Do NOT take your car here. I had a lot of work done here cause they "Specialize" in subarus and john totally messed up my car. Not only were bolts loose afterwards but there were parts missing and he was supposed to use brand new parts but instead used defective used parts and still charged me for new parts. I didnt realize the extent of damage he caused until I took my car somewhere else and they told me I needed all these new things that I JUST got replaced at outback. Hes a liar and a cheat. By far my favorite shop in the area. Haven't had any tuning/modifications done but if I did I would more than likely tell others to come here. I highly recommend Infront for all Modified ( or stock) Subaru's! My Son took his modified Subaru WRX in after losing 1st gear. John discovered not only the Tranny needed rebuilt, but the clutch was replaced along with the dreaded fire wall being re welded. Along with Dawn ( super awesome Lady!) in the Office working with the Extended Warranty people and Customers, and she is experienced and knowledgeable in this Industry, making the process a lot less hassle than it could have been. The work ethic is excellent, as is the quality of Service from John and crew. Its so worth the hour drive to know you wont get ripped off with poor repairs, or BS, as they are truly an Honest Shop... I took my WRX in for a new clutch and ended up needing a new transmission as well. because part of the case was broken on the old transmission. it took a week to order the new one which sat for a week in tacoma but that was the shipping companies fault. but they did not contact me what was going on, I had to call them. Plus when I went to pick up my car in the morning i thought it would have been done fairly quickly; it was not. I ended up waiting a while. I asked for some kind of discount for waiting and the extra week for my transmission to come in. I got maybe $100 off my $2000ish bill. Clutch works great though. read more
