It's exactly what I think of when I think of a place to get a yummy sub. A hole in the wall vibe with delicious food is always a number one spot for me. I love how this location is right on LSU's campus, so it is very convenient for me. I walked here but there are plenty of spaces to street park. I came here on a Thursday at lunch, and there was a decent amount of people in here but my food didn't take long at all. You order at the counter and pick it up when they call. Prices were decent. There are so many options on the menu! From salads to subs, the options of make your own were endless! Everything looked really good, and I was stuck between the ham and Swiss or the turkey. I ended up with the turkey on wheat not toasted with just pickles, tomatoes and oil and vinegar... just the way I like it. I didn't get chips or a drink. Inga's is an landmark for sandwiches nestled right next to the LSU Campus. Not much to see except LSU posters and schedules. The sandwiches are amazing! Cristina had the Cuban sandwich and loved it. I had the best tasting sandwhich I have ever eaten. If you want to get your taste buds dancing, order the "Inga's Famous Marinated Steak" Sandwich. This Sandwich is filled with Korean Bulgoki. It's the number 13 on the menu. Most amazing sandwich. My only regret was ordering the 7" instead of the 14." I have had other sandwiches and they are all delicious. This place is ok. It looks like like an old hole in the wall local sandwich shop, which it is, so one would expect an amazing sandwich. The sandwich was only average in my opinion. I got "the Best" which should have tasted better according to its name. Overall, this is an ok local sandwich shop. I have had much better sandwiches at local places elsewhere. My friend that worked there's review got removed from Indeed so thought I'd post it here: So, the other comments are accurate of what the job is requiring of you. Cooking, cleaning, cashier, and prepping. Over all a lot of manual labor, which isn't a bad thing. All the other reviews are fairly positive but there are a few things you should know before applying. When I went to apply I was hired on the spot. But, the working environment is very intense and fast paced. The owner expects you to make no mistakes and if you do you will get yelled at. Also, if you work there please note that it will only be you, the owner, and one other worker. You get paid $8.50 for the first two weeks and then get bumped up to $9. In a previous review from 2018 it said a pro was a free sandwich for lunch. The sandwiches are not free. She told us that she pulls $5 from our electronic tips (which you don't receive) to cover the expenses of lunch. She also told us that we will not receive our electronic tips and that we would receive them as a no guarantee "bonus" 3-4 months from the start of your shift. I was treated with disrespect and yelled at. On multiple occasions I've had DoorDashers, Customers, and Delivery people apologize to me for having to work for her in the two months of my employment. When I had quit because I was not receiving my electronic tips. She had almost tried to withhold me check from me on payday for an extra two weeks. Turn over rate is high. This shop makes great subs but their customer service has taken a major dip. I decided to stop for a sandwich on my way through town, unfortunately it turned out that LSU had a football at home that day. Upon parking in the shop's designated parking lot, I was told to clear out by a man (the owner or a friend of the owner would be my guess) to save space for people coming to his tailgate. He told me to go park on the street, which anyone who has tried to do anything near campus on a game day knows is difficult at best due to the wave of fans who come to campus. It is disappointing to see that a shop that makes great food, thinks tailgating is a better use of space than letting customers park. If you are not looking to have people park at your store, at least take down the sign by the lot that says "inga's parking only." If you aren't walking here on game days, dont bother. read more

Faced with the choice of Inga's and Subway, I'd go for Inga's without hesitation. I ordered a regular (as opposed to giant) sandwich with various luncheon meats (was it the club or the super?), and asked for it fully dressed (with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, oregano, oil and vinegar). With a root beer and a bag of BBQ chips, the sandwich cost me $8.60. I thought that I'd gotten a fair deal and would be happy to come back any old time. I went in after a pastrami sandwich - advertised as being served here on multiple delivery apps - only to discover they don't have anything that goes on a pastrami: no rye, no horseradish, no russian dressing. Just the meat. I figured I'd order something close enough: wheat, pastrami, swiss, pickles, cabbage. They are out of cabbage. They are also out of pickles (HOW?). I ask for a cuban instead, something else advertised as being on their menu. It isn't, and they won't make one. I got one steak sandwich (with very little meat to begin with) with no onions and creole mustard on one side of the sandwich only, and one steak sandwich with no tomatoes. Veggie burger sub is just great. I only order one thing when I'm at Inga's: the Veggie Burger sub, fully dressed with everything conceivable on it. I'm definitely an omnivore but for some reason really just love these veggie burgers. I've had other items from their menu and like those as well, but stick to the usual (unusual for me as I like to order something different when I visit restaurants). The line is way too long and the service I think slow. The setup of the place adds to the long line and cramped feel, but they're in a dump of a building with few options so just suck it up and expect a really decent sandwich in a somewhat chaotic atmosphere. I had heard peolpe rant and rave about the salads at inga's, and at the time I lived only a block away. I was on a diet, and a chicken salad sounded liek the perfect thing to eat so I decided to try this establishment. I expected the place to be trend from what I heard about it. It wasn't, but so what, some of the best places I've been to are real dives. I ordered a grilled chicken salad. What I got was a paper plate covered in iceburg lettuce, a couple of small pieces of grilled frozen chicken breasts and a tube of kraft ranch dressing. I still rate this sandwich/salad shop as my favorite one. Mrs. Inga is so sweet and so nice and it shows through her food. She really cares about her customers. She sets high standards that her employees must meet. The service here is VERY prompt and super nice. The amount of customers they process for lunchtime into early afternoon is insane. You walk up to the register, look at the menu chaulkboard if you don't know what you want, then place your order with the cashier, take your receipt, and wait till they call your number. When they call your number, you pick up your food on a plastic cafeteria type tray and grab your chips (that are on a rack near the pickup area), then fill your own drink at the soda machine (just like you would at BK or McD's) then sit down at the small round tables that remind me of Coffee Call's tables, and enjoy your meal! It's that simple. Inga's salads are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I can't seem to put my finger on it what she does to make them so good. Been tryin to figure it out for years! I always get the Chef salad. It is made with rolled up swirled Cheeses and meats. It has turkey and ham, swiss and American processed VERY thinly sliced cheeses and meats. SO good!!! Then in the recent years, she has started adding pickled sliced banana peppers and I think pepperoncini's, and thinly sliced (almost julienned) white onion. She also includes several thin slices of tomato. She always asks if you want oregano sprinkled on your salad and they always ask what type dressing, which I always get the red wine vinegar and oil. I don't know what type of red wine vinegar and oil she's using but it is SO GOOD! Awesome quality! The oil is not heavy, but light. The red wine vinegar tastes like a really good quality. Not too potent, but just right. The green lettuce is shredded Iceburg. That would probably be my only suggestion to her that she might want to change the way the lettuce is presented because it makes it a bit difficult to eat when it's shredded. But I know she does that as a time saver for the sandwiches. The quality of meat and cheeses she uses are TOP NOTCH!! I have NOTHING bad to say about that. I only wish I knew what type she used so I could buy some for sandwiches to make at home haha! Then again, she'd probably want me to come to her shop to eat! Would eat there about once a week while I was at LSU. These subs (not to be confused with poboys) are fresh and filling. Get it fully dressed- the combination of oil, red wine vinegar, and herbs is perfection. Beware though, if you go at noon during the semester it will be packed. So packed. Try going a little before or after lunch. Or go for dinner, they're open until about 9? They also have a great veggie patty, fresh teriyaki stir-fry, and (packaged) ramen noodles for variety. If the weather is nice, get your sandwich to go and have a picnic on the parade grounds! If you're having trouble finding parking, there is a small private lot behind Inga's. It's only about five spaces but you can usually find a spot if it isn't rush hour. Inga also recently opened a second location right in the middle of all the collegey apt. complexes on Brightside. This location is open on Sundays and keeps later hours than the Chimes shop. read more

The atmosphere is wonderful in the fall and winter - with all of the foot traffic the wait time is minimal while the food is always made fresh and consistently tasty. I enjoy Inga's, and I am glad that there are still good sandwich shops that thrive and prosper while others choose the mediocrity of Subway. Inga's seceded from Blimpie's in that Inga formed her sandwich shop after ending her franchise agreement with Blimpie. I find the Cajun turkey sandwich to be among the best, certainly something few, if any, sandwich shops carry, even in South Louisiana! Inga's is a hole-in-the-wall and certainly doesn't have some of the gimmicky stuff that a Subway or even Quizno's has. There is plenty of local fare--you can certainly get Zapp's chips to go with your meal, and the selection of drinks range from your typical Coke fountain products to bottled drinks, like Vitamin Water and Powerade. All in all, it's a good place. Price-wise, it's closer to Quizno's than Subway, but it's well worth it! I recommend the Inga's on State Street or Brightside or the similarly-styled Faye's on 3rd Street in downtown Baton Rouge. read more
