Server was very friendly! Chicken and andouille gumbo was good, although I like a thicker and darker gumbo. Shrimp Stew was special of the day (Tuesday), but wasn't very special. The broth was very thin, almost like broth. The shrimp was almost certainly frozen and farmed, not deveined, and cooked to the point of mushiness. I would NOT order this again. I found this place on Yelp, while staying in LaPlace. When I walked it, it seems diner-ish. There was a few tables the sit at. A couple older couples were there. I noticed Friday was fish Friday's. I got a plate to go. When I got home and opened my plate. I found 4 pieces of fish on a bed of French fries, with potato salad and toast. I did notice the toast was already prepared when it was plated. It was hard by the time I got to it. The potato salad was extremely bland. The fries were really good. The fish was THE BOMB!! If you are a person who is huge on ambiance when dining then this place is probably not for you. However if you like a quality sammich then this is the spot! I've been here twice and both times that I have stopped in, I've been impressed. The 1st time I stopped in I got a Cuban sammich with onion rings. As I was waiting for my sandwich, I read a few articles on the wall about the history of the place. It turns out the owner is originally from Cuba so now I expect my sammich to be great. It did not disappoint. The Cuban had everything it is supposed to have; ham, pork, swiss, pickles and mustard pressed so that the sammich is hot and crisp. The only difference is this was on typical poboy style French bread. It was great! The second time I came in for a roast beef, ham and swiss poboy. The sammich was hot. cheese melted, the bread crisp and slightly chewy. It had just enough roast beef gravy to be flavorful without making the bread soggy. It was perfect! The place itself is nothing to look at. It's a hole in the wall if I'm being honest. The parking lot gets full at lunch time awfully quick and it can be hard to see when backing up onto Airline Hwy. Luckily there is a parking lot just east of the carwash next door that is much easier to get in and out of. If you are in Laplace and needing your Poboy fix, this is the place! read more

Coming back from New Orleans my group stopped for gas in La Place. We were hungry and asked locals for a good place to eat. What we were recommended was Frisco Deli. At first glance it doesn't seem much of a resturant and looks more like old mom and pop place, but when I placed my order I was amazed. The BBQ sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I had on my New Orleans trip. The wait time wasnt much and the food came to the table quick. Red beans and rice and their muffuletta are top notch! Every Monday I know what I'll be having for lunch and at least once a week, I'll treat myself to the muffuletta at Frisco deli. Delicious. This would be a great place for and episode of Divers, Drive-ins and Dives. It doesn't look like much from the street and the interior isn't much either. While I was there for lunch I think half the police department was having their lunch there as well. I had the roast beef Po Boy and it was one of the best I've ever had! WARNING! This is one messy sandwich so you will need to lean over the plate with elbows out and napkins within easy reach. I also enjoyed the hush puppies, one order includes ten pieces. Ordered the shrimp poboy. The poboy had a decent amount of shrimp in it, not over stuffed like some reviewers mentioned. The bread used is similar to the one used by The Olde Tyme Grocery in Lafayette Louisiana. Kinda tough and chewy, apparently it's a thing. Shrimp were well cooked, they just didn't have any flavor. Another small, family owned cajun eatery in LaPlace. This place is run by a cuban family and they have the cuban sandwich po boy to prove it. Generally speaking I prefer Mabile's po boys to Frisco, but there is one notable exception: the ham and cheese with roast beef gravy. It is exactly what it sounds like; a pressed ham and cheese with a decent amount of home made roast beef gravy (with little bits of roast beef) on it. This is a fantastic sandwich and I think more restaurants should offer things smothered in roast beef gravy. The plate lunches are what make Frisco as good a choice for lunch as Mabile's. Everything I've had here is good. The daily specials, the gumbo, the jambalaya, the lent specials, all of it. read more

This place does gumbo and po-boys better than any other place I've tried. I'm not sure what their secret is, but the word's gotten around town. It's not exactly a well-kept secret within La Place. At lunch time you may be forced to take your gumbo and po-boy to go because the place is PACKED! The oyster po-boy and shrimp gumbo are to die for. Beware: the portions are huge. A po-boy might be enough for two meals, and a bowl of gumbo is a large meal in itself. This place is homey and unpretentious. Been driving by this place for a couple of years. The parking lot, while not enormous, always seems to be full. The sign for the Cuban PB (Po Boy) always catches my eye. I have to try that place some day.. Friday, that day arrived. The parking lot holds maybe 10 - 12 cars. As usual, it is full. It's not helped by the foursome with their four cars saying their goodbyes. Finally, the hugs and kisses are over and spaces start appearing. Classic dumpy lunch place. Mismatched everything. Let's go with eclectic. Not big, seats maybe 30 comfortably. Clean. Seemed like everyone knew each other. Service is fast and the waitress was hustling. I was there for the Cuban PB and fries. I topped it off with a diet coke. A Cuban is not something that is done very well or very often in New Orleans. However, should someone make a Cuban, there is a local secret weapon that would enhance even a Cuban smuggled in from the home land - Zatarains Creole Mustard- the perfect Cuban condiment. The moment of truth, the plate arrives. Clearly, not a lot of effort on presentation. That's OK, I'm not here for culture, I'm here for the food. The verdict - luke warm french fries and a very average rendition of a Cuban - French bread was overly dry, virtually no pickle and, sadly, no Zatarains. Meat was OK. I will eventually get back here to try something else. I'm intrigued by the reviews singing the praises of their gumbo and other sandwiches. It will be tough to drive by Mabiles to get a po-boy here. Holy Toledo was this a great stop. Simple, homemade and done very well. The special was red beans and rice, and while it looked outstanding, I decided to try a po boy. I went for the roast beef, ham and swiss. The roast beef was cooked in house, and this might be one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. Make sure you get it dressed! Immediately after Hurricane Katrina I was stationed in a warehouse nearby helping out with the Red Cross. We drove by this place several times until I couldn't stand it any longer and I made my co-workers stop for lunch. It was the best move during that whole 3 weeks! We ended up have a meal there just about everyday after that. Their red beans and rice were excellent - the catfish was too. And the couple who ran the place at that time (don't know if they're still there or not) were the best and treated us like family. One night they provided a huge pot of red beans, rice and other wonderful food to our group for free as a thank you. When can I go back?!?! read more

Very rude!! After placing an order, one of our staff asked if she could have her french fry's on the side instead of on her Seafood plate and he stated "this is not burger king or mcdonalds, this is a restaurant! You can't have everything your way!" He was extremely rude and should not treat customers this way. There were several ways he could have said and/or handled this situation.
